Mrs. SHINee <3
Gulf Coast Spill?, The worst possible thing to ever happen in america since Hurricane Katrina. BP just ruined the already messed up american economy and now we need to go over their and clean up the oil spill that BP created, I think america shouldn't spend a dime on this oil spill but instead BP should use the money they make and fix it themeselves but thats my personal opinion on the whole entire thing XoXo Deadly Beauty
Survivor
Very true. But that doesn't mean that just because he's elected people need to sit back and suffer our oceanic wildlife be destroyed because of a money-obsessed oil company and a lazy, socialist President. My view is that due to the pipe being so much farther down, we need to cut it open in another spot closer to the surface, where our divers can go and find a much easier way to clean it and fill it without the trouble of swimming down that much farther. Also, the oil would be farther away from the bottom of the ocean, allowing some wildlife to still exist. And Deathly Beauty, you are correct. With all of the funds that BP earns, they should be held responsible. But they choose not to. They don't want to waste their money. For all they care, the oil can continue to spill. They don't want a dime to drop out of their pockets, which ultimatly created a national crisis for the government to deal with by using taxpayer dollars. Lyfe.
The wildlife at the bottom of the ocean is of less significance than those closer to the surface. Obama is going to ruin America.
Survivor
Definatly. We had 9/11 with Bush, but now we have the Christmas bombing, the Time Square explosive, and the Oil Spill with Obama. Not to mention the failing economy that has gotten worse in his leading of the United States. All that I ask is that it be cleaned up. I don't mind having taxpayer dollars go towards this, but BP will have to compensate eventually. I just want it over with so that official cleanup can start. Lyfe.
"Cleaning up" isn't as easy as you think. The problem with politics is that one even will always cause a chain reaction and cause more problems, whether they are just as bad or not. What are you talking about taxpayer dollars? You don't pay taxes.
Survivor
I understand. I know that. But I would rather taxpayer dollars go towards cleaning up a natural disaster than welfare towards those that don't work for a living. And I understand that cleaning up isnt easy. But lets show some initiative and drive to get this fixed. Obama made an excuse during a speech and said "Just because you cannot see the cleanup crews in the ocean, does not mean that they are not out there. They are just cleaning the oil up farther out than a normal eye can see." Damn excuses! We don't want initiative. We want the drive and initiative to solve this. I'm against government run programs, but with both BP and Obama doing nothing, I want some solution.
Mrs. SHINee <3
Why is everyone bashing on Obama? If anything hes the only one actually trying to fix the oil spill while BP is just sitting their acting like everythings going to be alright while down south where i live were having more and more deaths and were slowly having our way of lives being destroyed due to BP's carelessness and now i am not allowed anywhere in the area of the beach due to the fact that their are what likes tons of shark's that are attempting to escape the oil spill, And now everyone's trying to pin this to Obama which i think is ridiculous. Lyfe.
That really is a pitiful excuse. Not you DB, Obama. And someone mind telling me who BP is? I can't think of it.
Survivor
He has done nothing though! I understand that it is BPs fault, but he needs to at least do something. He is the leader of our country and is held liable when our country is in a national crisis. He doesn't need to manage this thing, but at least get BP do do something and stop making excuses. BP = British Petroleum. Oil Company that owns the Offshore Drill that exploded.
Lyfe.
I have an idea. BP and Obama can talk. Then decide. Then fix.
Mrs. SHINee <3
You didn't see his announcement, He announced that he was going to do all he can to help the oil spill go away, Its not his fault that BP isn't contributing anything into this except the oil thats going into the ocean, If anything Obama is doing his job its just BP isnt doing theirs and helping stop this national catastrophe. Survivor
That's what needs to happen. But as of now, the initiative needs to be raised. With 600,000 gallons spewing every 60 seconds, this is a large concern that seems to simply be passed off by both responsible. It isn't Obama's fault. It's just that he's the leader of our country and needs to be responsible. Everyone pinned Hurricane Katrina on George Bush, but that was a NATURAL DISASTER. And he did help, in small ways. But this disaster is larger than Katrina and will take much longer to clean up. And this was something that could have been avoided. And Obama has only said that he will help. It doesn't take much to make plans. It takes a lot to execute them, which he hasn't done.
Lyfe.
BP just needs to get their head out of their asses and do something.
Survivor
EXACTLY! Now that we've resolved this dispute, let's move towards the problem of fixing the spill. On the BP website, it plans to donate a portion of its proceeds to the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, but it has yet to donate any towards the actual cleanup. As I suggested, the pipe that the oil is coming out of needs to be cut somewhere else. Then, divers need to find a way to make a concrete moldto plug the hole. Then, I'm guessing that some sort of outer casing can be made, or more concrete or holding substance can be used in order to enclose the hole. Mrs. SHINee <3
Yes but 9/11 was during Bush's first term and that could have been perfectly avoided but it wasn't and now one of america's biggest trademarks is gone and Bush could've helped in small ways but i forgotten if he did anything. Its not Obama's fault for any of these tragedies that happened before and its ceratinly not his fault for this one
