5252345262667
The Big 12 -- Saga 1: The Tournament (Ch.2 is up) [spoiler=Prologue] I stood there, at the tournament. I looked in awe; it was the biggest tournament I’ve ever seen. Hundreds of duelists surrounded me, each with their own state-of-the-art “Duel Disk”. The entire tournament was set up by a legend, a man who invented the game itself: Maximillion Pegasus. My name is Tsubasa Souta. Most of my friends just call me Tsu though. Tsu was tall, with black combed hair; he wore long jeans and a small necklace with a blue bead in the middle of his neck. I’m only 13, but when I grow up, I hope I can be a pro at dueling. Before entering the tournament, each duelist had to win ten qualifying matches In order to enter the tournament, and I did, Pegasus only wanted the best of the best. I looked at my deck; the first card I saw was a card my dad gave to me. It was Poseidon: God of Sea. It showed a man, a man with gray hair, holding a fork-like thing and riding with the Ocean currents. A really rare card, but I learned from my dad that there are only 12 of these certain cards in existence. They are a new type of card, the “Olympian-God” type. “Attention! All duelists, you may now start the first round of the tournament!” A man said in a loudspeaker. “Each of your duel disks have a special ID code, so once you lose, the duel disk will be defunct. Also, during each of your duels, you must give up 1 rare card for grabs, the winner keeps all. We are using the ID codes in order to track your duel progress, you must win 3 duels!” I took a look at my deck, then at all the duelists around me, and I started to look for the first duel. [spoiler=CHAPTER 1] The Big 12 – Chapter 1: First Duel! I looked around the entire duel arena. Some people were dueling, and then another announcement came on the loudspeaker. “We have been informed that you only have one hour to complete your three duels.” a man said in the loudspeaker. Only one hour? I thought to myself. Oh well, I guess it’s enough time, besides, I need to win, I heard that there is a rare card Pegasus is giving up…if you can beat him. “Hey!” I turned around. A boy, about the same age as me, was talking to me. He had blue, slick hair. He wore a T-shirt with a picture of the Dark Magician. “Oh, hello.” I replied. “Um, are you going to duel? Or what?” he said. “Oh, sure. Are there any duel rings?”“Yeah, I saw a empty one back there. Follow me.” The boy said. “My name is Hikaru.” “I’m Tsu.” I replied. Once we made it, I took out my deck. The field was huge; there were four EHS (electronic-hologram-system). They made a square shape around the entire duel “ring” (or arena). “Alright,” Hikaru said. “What is your ante card?” “Oh yeah. I almost forget about that. It’s this,” I said, taking out a card from my deck to show Hikaru. “It’s my Poseidon: God of Sea card. But I can’t even use it in my deck anyways. It needs a special magic card.” “Oh, right.” Hikaru said.Hmmm…which deck should I use? I thought, oh! How ‘bout this one? My dragon deck should do fine. I brought lots of decks to the tournament. “Alright, let’s duel!” As I said that, I turned on my Duel Disk. It read “Commencing Duel”, and then it showed four-thousand life points. “I suppose I should start things off!” I drew my five cards. “Alright, draw!” I drew my card. Yes! Not a bad hand, I thought. “OK. I set two cards face-down!” I placed my card onto the duel disk. In about two seconds, two floating holograms appeared. “Next I summon: Luster Dragon! “(1900/1600) a blue beautiful dragon came out. It was covered with sapphire and had grey claws. “Nice move.” Hikaru said. “But mines better! First I summon: Ebon Magician Curran!” (1200/0). I set two cards to finish it.” Ebon Magician Curran looked pretty weak, she looked like a young girl with a dress, but she also had a whip in one hand. No wait; it’s a…skipping rope? What was he planning? Wait, the two face-down cards! They must be Traps. “Okay, I will sacrifice my dragon, in order to summon: Curse of Dragon!” (2000/1500), A dragon appeared with yellow wings. It seemed to have a horn hanging from its chin and one on his forehead. I should play it safe, I thought. “I end my turn.” “It’s a shame you didn’t attack! You would’ve destroyed my monster.” “But I thought they were Tra-“ “Wrong. First, I summon: Maha Vailo!” (1550/1400) Suddenly, a man appeared in a blue dress-like thing. It had two bones hanging from his hat, there was a red orb hanging from each ear. Weird. “Next, I will activate my two spell cards! First, the Trial of the Princess!” “What does that do” I asked. “It raises my Curran’s ATK by 800!” (1200/0 ---2000/0) “Next my other Spell will activate! “My Book of Secret Arts!” Just then, a book appeared in Curran’s hand, her ATK raised to 2300. “Oh no!” I said. “Now my Curran is stronger! ATTACK CURRAN!” Curran jumped up into the air, she whipped my Curse of Dragon as it dissolved into the air.” Tsu: 4000 --- 3700 “But,” Hikaru said. “I’m not done just yet. Next, my Maha Vailo will attack!” Maha started chanting this weird hum. Then he spun his arms around and this light ball appeared, then it struck me down. “Ah!” I yelled. Tsu: 3700 --- 2150 “Curses.” I said under my breath. “But wait, there’s even more!” “But you already attacked! Plus you don’t have any Spell or Traps set!” “Hmph. Since my Curran destroyed a level 5 monster, I can sacrifice her thanks to my Trial!” “Oh no!” I replied in terror. “Now rise forth: my Princess Curran!” (2000/0). Now during each of my turns, I inflict 600 Life Points to you for each monster you have!” “You’re finished!” Hikaru continued. “Well, it’s my turn….” I can still turn things around, I thought. I drew my card. My eyes widened. “First, I summon my Red Eyes B. Chick.” A small red egg appeared (800/500). “Next, his effect allows me to grow him up!” “Wait what?” Hikaru asked. “I summon Red Eyes Black Dragon!” A huge dragon appeared of it’s awesome power. It was black and it breathed a little bit of fire. (2400/2000). “NOW ATTACK HIS PRINCESS CURRAN!” “No! Wait! You can’t!” Hikaru repeated in disbelief. Red Eyes breathed scorching hot fire and burnt Curran to a crisp. Hikaru: 4000 --- 3600 “How dare you!?” Hikaru said as he drew. “I play Pot Of Greed.” Hikaru said as he drew two extra cards. His expression changed. “Hehehehe, AHAHAHA! These two cards will be your doom! First I play Ceremonial Bell!” A huge yellow bell appeared, overcrowding all of our monsters, including my Red Eyes. (0/1850) “Hmph. You played it in attack mode. A rookie mistake.” I said. “I meant to.” Hikaru said. “Next I play MYSTIC BOX!” He continued. “Now I destroy one monster you have, but one of my monsters you can then control” he said. Two boxes appeared and my Red-Eyes and his Bell were sucked into them. Then swords went through my box. “My Red-Eyes!” I shrieked. Then the bell was changed to my field. “Do you understand what I’m doing now?” Hikaru asked. It took me about ten seconds to realize. “You’re going to destroy your own monster!” “Precisely,” Hikaru said. “Now attack Maha Vailo!” Instantly, my bell cracked into tiny shards. Tsu: 2150 --- 600 “No…” I said. I drew my card. This will at least help me, I thought to myself. I play “Non Aggression Area. Now you can’t summon a monster during your turn. All I need to do is discard card from my hand.” I said, I discarded my monster card and a big red field appeared in front of Hikaru. “HA! Your sacrifice was in vain!” Hikaru said. “I can’t summon, sure, but I may still attack! You messed up!” “Hmm...” I moaned. “Next I play Magical Mallet, one of my set cards flipped. “This allows me to reshuffle my hand.” I put my 1 card into my deck and shuffled. Then I drew.” I summon Cave Dragon.” A big dragon appeared, it looked like an oversized turtle with a tail. Its head was green, and he had red eyes. “Destroy his Maha Vailo!” The Cave Dragon took down Maha Vailo, and then he ripped off his neck, instantly Maha Vailo vanished. Hikaru: 3600 --- 3150 “You’ll pay for that,” Hikaru said as he drew.” I set one card face-down and end my turn.” “My move!” I drew my card. “I will sacrifice my monster to play: Armed Dragon LV5!” A dragon (that looked somewhat like a dog) appeared. It had red skin, but some parts (like his claws) were brown and had spikes attached to them. (2400/1700). “Now, I activate my final face-down card: Stamping Destruction!” “No! That will destroy my spell card! Plus I lose 500 Life points!” After he said that, the set card was destroyed. Hikaru: 3150 --- 2650 “Now, my dragon will attack you directly!” “AHH!” Hikaru yelled. Hikaru: 2650 –-- 250“My….move…” Hikaru said lightly as he drew his card. “…What luck” he said. “I play Pot of Greed again.” He drew his two cards. “Impossible…how did I even do this? I have unimaginable luck! I play Black Illusion Ritual!” “Wait a second, I know this card. But what does it do? I can’t remember” I said. “You’ll find out! I send my Dark Gravekeeper’s Commandant to the Graveyard as a sacrifice for my…RELINQUISHED!” “Ahh! I remember what it does, it can absorb my monsters!” Then a weird circular core appeared, it grew a head, the head extended forward for a neck and had a small eye on its tip. It grew four wing-like things on its back. “Absorb his dragon Relinquished!” Hikaru said. A strong suction force pulled my monster into its core. Relinquished gained all the ATK and DEF from my dragon. (2400/1700). “I’ll end my turn.” “My move! I set this card and end.” “Then it’s my turn.” Hikaru interrupted. “I’ll attack with my Relinquished! Now go my equip spell card: Armed Dragon, destroy his Life Points and finish this duel!” Then I thought of something. “Activate Spell card! Mystical Space Typhoon!” I countered. The Typhoon destroyed the armed dragon Lvl 5 that was merged with Relinquished since it was a spell equip card. “NO! That was my only weakness!” Hikaru said. “Now, my move I said.” I drew. It was just a useless overpowered monster. I came all this way and I can’t win. But then something weird happened, my graveyard started glowing. Then I remembered. I started to smile. “Why are you smiling!? I know you drew a useless card.” Hikaru said. “When I played my Non Aggression Area I discarded a card, remember?” “Yeah? Big deal.” “That card was my Red Eyes Wyvern! His ability is that if I didn’t play a monster for a full turn (which I did) I can bring back one!” “No!” “Oh yes,” I said. “Now return my Red-Eyes Black Dragon!” “It can’t be! NOOOO!” “Since your Relinquished has no ATK points, and my armed dragon is gone, I’ll attack! Destroy Relinquished and his Life Points!!!” “AHHH!!!” Hikaru shrieked. Hikaru: 250 --- 0000 The holograms started disappearing and my Duel disk flashed “win.” Then, two cards appeared from my graveyard. It was Relinquished and a Black Illusion Ritual. “That was hectic.” Hikaru said. “It was a great duel, Hikaru. You played your best.” I replied. “Well,” he said, “Best of luck with the tournament, I hope you succeed. Take good care of my cards.” “Don’t worry, Hikaru. I will. Maybe we can duel again someday.” I said. “Yeah, maybe.” Hikaru said. “Well, farewell Tsu.” “Goodbye, Hikaru.” I said. ~End of Chapter 1 [spoiler=CHAPTER 2] The Big 1 - Chapter 2: Dragons VS. Fairys?! I took a look at my deck. I knew that my Dragon-deck wasn’t going to win me every duel. I had packed different decks with me; the tournament rules said that you can have a maximum limit of only 5. I looked at my duel disk; it showed a small checkmark where your life points were suppose to be, there were also two other gray checkmarks. Only two more duels to go, I thought to myself. Then I’m ready for the second round of the tournament. I started walking around to look for my next duel. I saw someone ahead of me, standing alone. He had blue hair and was wearing a black dress shirt with a red tie. He was also wearing a duel disk, it showed two green checkmarks. “Hi,” he said. “Oh, hi.” I replied. “I’m Masaru.” He said. “I’m Tsu, do you want to duel?” “Are you sure, my monsters will dismantle your deck in a matter of minutes.” “I never back down,” I said as I turned on my duel disk. “If you say so.” Masaru said. He turned on his duel disk and drew five cards. “I’ll go first.” I said as I drew five cards, then I drew my sixth. “First, I will set this monster.” I said, a rectangular brown card came onto the field. “Next, I’ll activate my Field Spell: Mausoleum of the Emperor!” I continued. The area started forming; the sky was black and green. Beside us, a huge boiling pot of fire was being guarded by two warriors. There were stairs coming down from it. “Whoa.” Masaru said. “Okay, next I set two cards and call it a turn.” I said. “Very well, first I’ll play Winged Kuriboh, in attack mode!” A small brown fur-ball appeared with small green arms and legs with claws at the end. Small wings expanded from his back (300/200). “Then, I set two cards face-down.” “Okay,” I said. I drew a card. It was my Red-Eyes Black Dragon. “I will use my Mausoleum’s effect. I pay 1000 life points for each tribute monster I need to summon; in this case, I need to tribute two monsters, so I pay 2000 life points.” “You do realize you’re giving up half your life points, right?” Masaru said. “I’m aware,” I replied. “So, I pay 2000 life points for the Mausoleum!” A small purple aura came oozing out of my disk and into the pot of fire. A heard roaring and then a brighter purple aura came in front of me and started forming into my Red-Eyes Black Dragon. (2400/2000) Tsu: 2000 “Now attack his Kuriboh!” Red-eyes started to form his energy and then threw his fireball into Kuriboh. Kuriboh wasn’t standing there anymore, but Masaru’s life points were still at 4000. “Surprised? My Kuriboh protects my life points from all harm when destroyed.” Masaru said. “Well, I guess that doesn’t matter now.” He said as he drew his card. “I play my Soitsu!” A small naked (but faceless, and didn’t have any ‘body features’) man appeared on an origami figure. (0/0) “You played a monster without an effect or points?” I said in confusion. “Yes.” Masaru said. “I play my Swords of Revealing Light.” Thousands of swords appeared into my duel disk. “This allows me to see your face-down monster,” he said. “But, you can’t attack for three turns!” My monster flipped under from his card and revealed a warrior. No wait, a dragon warrior. It had many scales and had wings, it was carrying a sword. IT almost looked like a green reptile. (700/800) “Oh well,” I said. I drew my card. A White-Horned Dragon card. I need to save this for his effect, I thought. “Okay, I end my turn by setting this card.” “You just sealed your doom.” Masaru said as he drew a card. “I play Pot of Greed.” He then drew two more cards. “I now summon: ‘Doitsu’!” This time an orange man appeared on a origami figure… eating sushi. “Now, my monster is a union card, so equip yourself to Soitsu!” Both monsters merged with each other, but Soitsu was the only one on the field. (2500/0) “Now attack Soitsu! Destroy his Troop Dragon!” “AGHH!” I said as I fell onto one knee. Tsu: 2000 ---- 200 “Ahh…my move.” I said as I drew my next card. “OK,” I said. “I tribute my Red-Eyes in order to summon my next version of Red-Eyes.” I said. My Red-Eyes started cracking, and evolving. Then, my monster exploded and I was blinded by light. When the light cleared, I saw a regular Red-Eyes monster, except with a dark aura surrounding him, he also seemed to have exposed his inner body; red flames. I had summoned the Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon. (2400/2000) “So what’s the improvement?” Masura asked. “He gains 300 ATK for each dragon monster in my graveyard, and that’s two.” My monster went from 2400 to 3000. “No!” Masura said. “Now attack!” I said. “I can’t allow that. Activate: Shattered Axe and Enchanted Javelin. Now my life points are increased by 3000.”Masura: 4000 ---- 7000 “Now then my move!” “-Not if I activate my trap!” I said. “I reveal: The Dragon’s Bead! “I just need to discard one card in order to negate the effect. So I discard a dragon monster!” My Red-Eyes went up to 3300 and his Shattered Axe went to the grave. “Are you done? Good.” He drew and his eyes widened. “I play this! Keldo! In Attack Position(1200/1600)! Then I end.” “Okay,” I said. “I end.” “Nothing? Fine, I know your trapped!” Just then, his swords of revealing light disappeared. “I unequip my Doitsu and tribute Soitsu and Doitsu to summon: Majestic Mech Goryu!!! My best card!” A huge white circle appeared and it filled with a yellow shrine. It grew a long tail, following the pattern of white circle, gold circle. That…thing grew two wings. (2900/1800) “I set one card and end.” “Fine. Now my Red-Eyes is free to attack! Destroy his Keldo!” Masura: 7000 --- 4900 “You fell into my trap! Now I take two cards from you graveyard and add them to your deck, you fool!”My Red-Eyes dropped to a mere 2700. “I suppose I win.” Masura said as he drew. “Before I attack, I will activate my trap card: My f-“Then, his set card shattered and my Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon went up to 3000. “WHAT!?” Masura yelled. “Take a look at my field.” I said. “But, I tho-“Then Masura froze. My Dragon’s Bead trap card was still on the field. It was a continuous trap card. “NO! Wait,” He said, looking at his Majestic Mech. “STOP THE ATTACK!!!” Masaru yelled. “Too late.” I replied as his Goryu started disintegrating. Masaru: 4900 --- 4700 “My move,” I said. Just the card I needed, I thought. “I play my final spell card: Card Destruction!” “No!” Masura shrieked. I put my hand into the graveyard and my Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon increased by 1500. “Next I summon: Twin-Headed Behemoth (1500/1200)! Now both my monsters, attack! Masaru: 4700 --- 0000 Masura looked stunned as the holograms disappeared. “How did you?” He started. He then got up and started walking away without saying a word. I looked at my graveyard, a card appeared: Majestic Mech – Goryu. I took the card and looked at it. One more duel to go.

Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
MOAR DRAMA There's no drama, banter, strategy, or even description; it's just the synopsis of a Duel. Fix that up a bit.

Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
I mean, like, mid-Duel drama. The Duelists have emotions beyond shock, horror, and smugness mid-Duel; even episode 1 of GX, which I've brought up to help me with mine own intro, has much wider emotional range than this. Give us some characterization and banter!
