Irrelevant Objects of Power [ADV / Started][Accepting via OOC]

The Warden

Recommended Posts

A shimmering portal forms in a dingy alley. Looking into the portal, you would see a beautiful garden, rich in flowers, grass, trees and rivers. A flustered bird escapes the portal and it closed. The bird took off into the sky, finally finding rest in a tree. The bird's colouring was magnificent, and it shimmered with seven different colours, like a centralised rainbow of light. 'I must find the chosen, Yamata no Orochi has already grown too restless' she said and let loose a beautiful song, one which only Yokai could hear.

Heikichi was at his neighbour's house, fixing the deck. One of the boards had fallen in and the old woman was not able to fix it herself, so she had hired Heikichi to fix it. Heikichi pulled out the old board and placed another in its place with nails. This was an easy enough job, but it was very hot outside and quickly he got thirsty. He took out his water gourd, still getting used to the heavy weight of it. As he was about to open it, he heard a songbird in the distance and the gourd shook violently and popped its own cork. Heikichi wasn't expecting it and dropped the gourd, spilling water all over himself.

"Aw crap...What the hell was that?" Heikichi muttered to himself as he tried to wipe the water of his pants in vain. He noticed that water seemed to flow out of the gourd as if it was full. He was sure he hadn't filled it since yesterday and it shouldn't be that full. He simply shrugged at this thought and put the cork back into the gourd. He walked out, recieving his pay from the old lady and walked onto the street.

Rain was walking back from the store a plastic bag in one hand and a stuffed animal in the other hand. She was on her way to the park, to meet up with her brother. It was pretty hot out so she decided to get some drinks and a few snacks. People would give her weird looks because of the black veil she was wearing. Not that she cared what other people thought, besdes she thought it looked pretty cute.

"Rey there you are." Rain said seeing him sitting on a park bench. "Here I got you Lemonade, I know it's your favorite." She smiled handing him the bag. It was then that she heard a songbird, and from the look on Rey's face she wasn't the only one who heard it.

"Bark!"

Rain's head snapped down to the stuffed dog she held in surprise. "D-did you just hear that?" She asked Rey still looking at the dog waiting for it to bark again but nothing happened. "Maybe....Maybe we were just hearing things..."

Kuroda sat at his room and looked did his homework when he suddenly got an awkward feeling.

I feel watched... He thought to himself and looked up. At the wall hanged the mask that he had been given by his grand-father. Oh, it's just you. He smiled a little to himself. He cared a lot for that mask, but he wasn't sure what to do with it. Suddenly, a beautifull bird song was heard and the eyes of the mask flashed yellow, but the turned dark again.

"What the-!" Kuroda raised from his chair and looked at the mask. He then took it off the wall, held it in his hands and looked at it.

I must be working too hard...

The birdsong had also stopped, so Kuroda hung the mask back and went to watch some TV before he continued with his homework.

Sam came home and upon entering his house, he dropped his bag and skateboard in the corner and went upstairs, but not before getting something to drink.

He clicked the power-switch on his computer, turned his monitor on and opened the window.

"Oo~oh, I still need to fix my skateboard before 8pm. Let's get my board..."

Sam ran back downstairs took his backpack and skateboard and went upstairs again.

Once in his room he opened his backpack and turned it around. Everything fell out the bag.

"Found my wheel, let's get going th-" He glared at the claws. "yeah, i found you two down the sewer, didn't I? Maybe I should throw this away or something, looks like garbage anyways."

It was than that a song sounded though his window. A unreal song.

Sam looked outside, but couldn't see anything, and the sound faded away.

He turned around and could still see an afterimage of some sort. A tranquil and beautiful tiger.

"What in the name of-?" Sam let loose a great sigh. "Must've been my imagination. Let's continue this skateboard, shall we."

Deck rumaged around in his pocket and pulled out a piece of wire and the feathers he had picked up earlier. He held them all together and twisted the wire around them. Holding the now connected feathers in one hand, he fished around with his other one and finally found what he was looking for. He retrieved a length of string and pushed it through the wire, before squeezing it all together and looking proudly at his work.

"Well that doesn't look too bad," said Deck to himself, "I'll fix you up properly when I get home." Deck then put it round his neck as a necklace. "Excellent."

He made his way home, listening carefully to the birds singing around him. He didn't notice though that the feathers he held around his neck were getting warmer and warmer.

By the time Deck got home it was getting dark and the birds had all, but stopped. He also realised though that now his chest had a faint glow and was causing him to sweat. He looked down and the feathers had a heat shimmer coming from them.

"What on earth?" He asked himself, before hearing another birdsong in the night. The feathers reacted to the song and began to heat up even more, eventually burning a small hole in Deck's shirt. But the feathers began to cool down once again as he stared at them. Looking around he searched for the bird that had sung, but there weren't any birds around.

He cautiously walked in to his house and closed the door behind him.

The room was... messy. Books were strewn all over the floor. Random piles of stuff were shoved over in a corner. The bedsheets were no where near the bed. Such was the normal state of Aldir's bedroom. It was his sleep and work place, with the other room serving as his meal place and entertainment room; no guest goes into his bedroom unless he knows them. The source of it all, Aldir himself, was scrawling all over papers in the center of the room. The papers were filled with indecipherable notes for Aldir's eyes only. Some were on the floor near Aldir, who had a messy hair and a smudge of facial hair. He wore an orange dressing gown he gotten at a flea market as a part of a package for the true item he was searching for; a rare game. Still, it was useful as lounge clothing, and he used it as such.

Aldir's concentration was broken when he heard a strange birdsong in the air. While his window was opened, the sounds of the hustle and bustle outside drowned out most things. This song came through clear as day. Aldir stood up and noticed that he felt strange. His robe was gone, and in its place was orange *fur* that covered his body. The fur itself was such a shock that he didn't notice the fox tail extending from the back of his waist. Deciding that he felt fine regardless of his sudden change, Aldir went back to his work; he promised to have it done tonight, after all. There would be time to investigate the transformation later.

Rey was sitting on the park bench waiting for Rain to show up. When he woke up this morning he hadn't a clue that he would be sitting on a park bench waiting for his little sister for over an hour. Rey checked his watch. "Make than an hour and a half. Come on Rain, where are you."

"Rey there you are." He turned his head a bored look on his face, as he took the lemonade out of the bag. "I forgive you for making me wait." He said taking a swallow. Suddenly a noise caught his attention, and he realized that it was a songbird. The noise stopped as suddenly as it had started but then he heard-

"Bark!"

Rey turned to the stuffed dog that Rain was holding, a surprised emotion on his normally bored face. "Did that dog just-Woah! Rain look at that." He started pointing to a bunch of spiders that appeared out of no where. He noticed they were going towards Rain, so he stood and grabbed her hand. "Let's get the hell out of here." He muttered, one hand in his pocket and the other holding Rain's.

[spoiler=Ooc:] Just for future refrences. Hotaru and I gave permission to control each others characters just incase one of us can't be on. Some times I may not be on for a few days, so she'll be controling my character for me during those times. Just a heads up. :)

Rayge was, well, wandering alone as he had become accustomed to. The only things he carried with him were the suit of armor his father had given him once, for reasons unknown, and a simple hammer. He wasn't sure why he felt so attached to the hammer, but he was and he didn't feel like parting with it. Sure, people gave him strange looks because of one, his massive size; two, the torso armor he wore; and three, the fact that he was always carrying a hammer, but Rayge wasn't the sort to care what anyone thought. He was simply walking along when he heard the bird song. He turned his head in the direction from which it had come. Several blocks away, he could just make out a tree from which he assumed the song had come. It was at that moment that he felt, and saw the flash from, an electrical shock.

"AH!" he exclaimed, looking down at the source of the shock, "What on earth was that?"

All he saw from where the flash had come and where he felt the shock, was the simple hammer. It hang from the small tool loop in his pants on the right thigh. He shook himself slightly, before starting off towards the tree. He wanted to get a good look at the bird that had made such a song. Due to his sheer size, it was likely the bird would see him coming.

The bird seemed satisfied with the calls from it's fellow yokai. 'So they are alive and well, that is most comforting, but our time is short and I must gather those who answered the call' she stated and flew off.

In no time at all she spotted Heikichi and Suijin. She began to sing as she circled the duo, creating a glowing rainbow circle around the boy. When it was complete, the boy and the gourd vanished in a bright flash. The bird flew on, locating Rey and Rain in little time. Like before, she circled the duo and they vanished in a briht flash.

The bird continued with this tradition, locating Kuroda in his room. She had little issue entering and succeeded in vanishing him, despite him noticing her. The mask also vanished with him. The bird then appeared in Sam's room, vanishing him as he worked on his skateboard.

Despite the door being closed, the bird entered Deck's house, blind siding him with her circle and he was gone. Aldir was slightly tougher, as he had already managed to manifest his power, or maybe, the bird assumed that Kitsune had done it himself. Regrdless, he vanished in the bright rainbow.

Finally, the bird had located Rayge, who previously haad tried to find her. Quickly, she made him disappear as well, all of them gone, to parts unknown.

[spoiler=Notice]

To put it simply, everyone was teleported to a vast Shinto temple. It is fairly simplistic, with ornate paintings on the walls and several pillars holding the roof. There is a shrine on one wall with enormous statues of Amaterasu, goddess of the sun. Tsukuyomi, goddess of the moon. And Susano-o, god of storms. There are also two doors, if walked through one door, you would immediataly find yourself on the opposite side of the same room.

Sam woke up finding himself in a room filled with people, his unfinished skateboard was laying in the corner and even though he knew he threw the claws into his garbage can, he was wearing them.

Sam yawned,

"Yo, is there anyone awake around he?" he asked the question while looking at the people who weren't sleeping. "Okay, it's quite awkward that nobody responded, anyways the name's Sam. Good to meet you. I don't know what the rest of you is doing but this most likely is a dream. So, I'm gonna go through that door, when I do so, my dream will stop, and I can wake up. Later."

And so, Sam walked in the door closest to him, opened it and passed trough. Only to find himself back in the room.

"Huh?"

He tried again, yet failed once more. He tried 13 more times, which all ended in the same.

Sam, You may not leave yet. Please, remain calm. My name is Byakko, Tiger of the West, I reside in the claws you found. Please, treasure them. I will be leaving your side now. We will meet again, soon.

"Are you funking shitting me?! Has this become a nightmare or something?"

All eyes were focused towards him at this point.

"Christ, I'm gonna sit in that corner and pretend that none of you exist until I wake up, damn."

[spoiler=Previously...]

"Aaand... done." Aldir said, standing up. "Now... about this fur..."

Strange things have occurred ever since he got the robe from that flea market. Mostly it would just be Aldir hearing things, but this was the first time something like this happened. Glancing down behind himself, Aldir noticed that he was sporting a fluffy tail. He raised his eyebrow at it. but before he could do anything. a bird came flying in through the open window.

"Hey!" Aldir began, but something... happened. He wasn't sure, but somehow, he knew it was that bird's doing...

"As far as I know, this is no dream," Aldir said to Sam, who was acting hysterical. Indeed, the fur on his body didn't vanish, so unless the whole time since he got the dressing gown was a dream, this was reality. A strange and bizarre reality, but it was their reality. Since he was done that project, he was going to stop procrastinating, and get to the bottom of this.

"Since we're stuck here for the time being," Aldir said, glancing at a corner where Sam went to cope with this problem. "...we should get to know each other." Aldir spoke outloud, looking at everyone in the room. "You can call me Aldir and..." Aldir paused, becoming self-conscious of his wagging tail. "...and don't mind my appearance," he continued, sighing. "It has something to do with the robe I bought a while back."

Rain was helped up by Rey after they had been transported to some weird building by a bright light. They ignored Sam who was in denile of the whole thing, turning to the others in the room. One of them, Rain noticed, was dressed in fur and had a tail. "Well, at least weired things haven't just been happening to us. Right Rey?" She smiled before stepping forward to introduce herself.

"I'm Rain Mystino, and this is my older brother Rey Mystino." Rain added also introducing her brother, seeing as he was in his 'I'm-too-cool-to-talk-for-myself' mood.

Lauren glanced at her fan, still intrigued by it. It had been a while since she had brought it from the shop, and although she had opened it and fanned herself, it just functioned like an ordinary fan. She had originally felt somewhat disappointed, before remembering that fans were meant to ... function like fans. But I swear there's something more to this fan ... it just doesn't feel like a typical object.

So imagine Lauren's shock when, one day, she decided to experiment with the fan again. It had been a rather hot day, and as she had decided to fan herself, she opened her fan to the widest it could go. She had only fanned herself with one stroke, and the resultant wind was so violent she was knocked over her chair, and anything loose behind her flew into the air, landing untidily.

"What the-" gasped Lauren as she got up. She looked incredulously at the fan, ignoring the fact she now looked like a mad scientist. Something had definately happened ... something odd ... "Hmm? Is that ... a songbird..." She could hear the strange singing, yet she had no idea where it was coming from. It certainly sounded like no bird she had ever heard before...

Kuroda got up to finish his homework, but when he was about to start a bird flew into his room through an open window. Instead of going crazy, Kuroda observed the bird as it circled above him for a short time, and then everything around Kuroda seemed to vanish.

He opened his eyes, slowly and noticed that he was somewhere else then his room. He appeared to be in some kind of oriental temple, and he raised to sitting position and looked around himself. He wasn't alone, as there was a bunch of other people in the room. The room had two doors, and Kuroda saw that a boy tried to exit through one of them, only to come in again from the other one. Kuroda was sitting on a pillow, and in front of him lied the oriental mask. He picked it up and looked at it.

"How'd you get here?" He asked it, not expecting an answer. That's why he was very surprised when the mask moved it's mouth and talked.

"It's because of me that you are here, boy!" The mask said with a booming voice and looked a bit irritated, it then looked calmer. "What's your name, kid?"

Kuroda, not sure what to do, looked at the dream and tried to convince himself that he was dreaming. But it felt too real...

"Naoki Kuroda." He said, still trying to think that it was only a dream.

"So, Naoki..."

"Call me Kuroda."

"Black fields? Do you like that name?"

"It fits me better then Naoki." Kuroda smiled. He had now accepted that this was no dream and he was actually talking to a mask.

"My name is Ushi-Oni. Nice to meet you!"

Deck took a step forward, but something moved behind him. A bird flew past him and he shielded himself with his arms. As he opened his eyes he realised that he was no longer in his hallway, or even in his house. He was in some strange place and there were other people all around him. He couldn't believe what had happened, he had somehow been teleported to a strange room with two doors leading out. Deck recognised the architecture, but he couldn't quite remember where from.

Deck looked around at the whole situation, only a few of the people were really reacting to it. One kid was appearing to go crazy and then Deck thought he himself was aswell. He saw a man fox walking and talking as if it was real. He shook his head and sat down against one of the many pillars. He felt a heat agisnt his chest again and looked down. His feathers were glowing, just barely but he could definately tell.

"Well Dorothy, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more..."

The bird felt a new presence. 'So, it appears the god Fujin has finally revealed himself. It would be most prudent to locate him and then convene with the others. there is much to discuss' she said and flew off.

Flying into Lauren's house, she landed on a chair and let lose a small burst of song, hearing the resultant cry. Satisfied with it, the bird flew through the house to Lauren and immediataly circled her, sendin her to the temple.

[spoiler=note]

The bird will appear in the temple after I get back from work. So get in what socialization that you can.

Heikichi woke from what felt like the most restful sleep he had ever had. He yawned loudly, stretching his arms into the air as he rose to a sitting position. Only after rubbing his eyes did he notice the new environment he was in. He found himself in the interior of a Shinto temple, identifiable by the distinctive Japanese art of the Shinto deities. He then noticed that his gourd had opened itself again and had made a stream of water that pooled in the corner of the room. Heikichi knew that the pool had more water than the gourd appeared it could hold and got a little suspicious. He put the cork back into the gourd and took another look around. There were other people in the room with him, looking just as confused as him. Heikichi decided that he should try to find out what is happening. He walked up to a guy in a fox costume and talked to him.

"Yo, fox guy! Do ya know what's going on around here or where we are? I just woke up now. And why are you wearing that fox costume anyways?"

OoC: Heikichi has the kanji on his forehead, but he doesn't know.

"Hah!" Aldir laughed outloud at the young man's question. He sounded like one of those kids that gave him trouble during his grade school years because of his passions. Still, his question was valid and Aldir probably should have waited until everyone was awake before introducing himself.

"If this was a costume, I'd have taken it off by now," Aldir said, answering the last question. "But some strange song had to go change my robe into fox fur," he continued, demonstrating his dilemma by pulling his fur. "Who knows, I may have changed into some sort of superhero..."

That last statement was an attempt to make a joke, but Aldir feared that the people here wouldn't understand, despite the fact that the concept of superheroes is fairly universal and well known. Aldir started sweating and didn't say anything further to stop drawing attention to himself, forgetting that he is currently some sort of man-fox hybrid.

After helping Rain stand up, Rey stuffed his hands in his pocket and observed the others in the room through a bored expression. Besides Rain and himself there were six other people in the room, and all of them seemed to be male. At least that was until a new girl suddenly appeared in the same white light that transported him and his sister here. What ever this is it must have something to do with those items. As far as I can see everyone has some sort of item with them. Weather it be a mask, or a drinking gourd. Not only that but I know for a fact that, that stuffed dog barked earlier. Hm....I guess the only thing left to do is to observe.

Rey thought moving closer to Rain nodded his head when she introduced him to the group.

A few more people appeared as if from nowhere and Deck looked up. He also heard what the fox-man had said. Slowly standing and walking over to him Deck unconciously twisted at the warm feathers around his neck.

"Wait, so... That's not part of you? Ok. Now I'm confused." He looked about the room. No one really looked like they had the slightest clue what was going on, "Does anyone of us actually know where we are? Or how we got here?"

He kept fiddling at the feathers and they kept getting warmer and warmer until he couldn't hold them any more. It was if they were uncomfortable at being pulled about.

'You came by my will to this sacred place' the bird said from atop the the Susano-o statue. She flew down from the statue and landed before them. A mystic seal formed on the ground around her and imprisoned her in dazzling light. Once it had receded, the bird was gone, replaced by a priestess. She wore an unusual outfit for a priestess, she wore a brazier, with from her elbows to her hands she wore long sleeves, tied at the elbow by ribbons. She wore a side-skirt that covered her left side, with a long breechcloth displaying old japanese text. She wore high-heels. Her face was pretty, and she had golden eyes. Finally, she wore a large cloak made of rainbow feathers. 'Greetings humans, I am, Ho-o, Fenghuang bird of Japan and your chose guide' Ho-o stated to the humans. She cast an eye to Aldir. 'Kitsune, I heavily recommend you release that human's body' she threatened.

Britney stared at the priestess, She was confused, One moment she was on her roof, Staring at her tattoo. The next moment a bird was singing and wings flashed on her back before disappearing, And now she's in some room with a priestess and a bunch of other people. "Um excuse me, But how did you even get us here, This is considered thievery in my family, Just making me randomly appear in some big room with a bunch of other people i've never met, And whats up with the wings, How did i ever get them" . Britney said, Frustrated by the events that were happening. Her wings were spread across her back, They were dark black wings with small white dots spreaded across them.

Deck breathed in through his nose and relaxed his shoulders. He moved his eyes to the girl that had appearedand smiled.

"Look. Just calm down, theres no need to get angry. I'm sure Ho-o? Here will tell us what we need to know." He continued his smile as he looked at the human form of the bird that had flown in his house. "Such as why, when she whistled, we came without a choice."

There was a slight flicker of annoyance in his eyes. The girl was right, they had all been taken from someplace most likely home for most of them, and this person could give the answers they needed. But on the other hand there wasn't any need to get angry and shout.

As soon as Ho-o requested that Kitsune to release his body, the fur vanished, and was replaced with his robe once again. Aldir sighed with relief and sat down on the floor, before he heard a voice in his head.

"That got your attention, didn't it?" The voice was feminine sounding... perhaps a woman's, or a young boy's. Aldir couldn't really pin it down. "Although you seem dense, you're actually pretty smart when you put your mind to it. I'll help you use your gown and powers... hero," The voice put emphasis on the last word, probably as a way to prove that it was paying attention to the previous events.

"....Thanks," was all Aldir could get out. He figured the voice was the Kitsune Ho-o was talking about, and until now it never overtly messed with his life. And it even implied that he was going to get some sort of superpower. Of course, there were probably some things he was expected to do because of those powers. And everyone else here was probably in the same situation. For now, he would sit and let the priestess speak until he had a better grasp of the situation.
