'He's fast!' Maka thought, backflipping before jumping back into the air and catching the descending Soul. "Soul, you think we can still use the black blood?"

"I dunno," Soul replied as they fell down towards the ground. "But you seriously aren't considering using it, are you?"

"Maybe, but only as a last resort; he's about as fast as Black*Star without Speed*Star."

"Well, what do we do?" Maka merely smirked.

"We'll just have to see who's the better scythe meister, won't we?"

She hit the ground sprinting, scythe reared back for an attack as she rushed towards Red.

Red pulled the scythe back, ready for when both Tenka and himself screamed, "SOUL RESONANCE." "DEMON WAVE," Red declared a hit the scythe on the ground sending a shock wave in all directions and throwing Maka off her balance. Then he ran straight for her and hit her again with butt end of the scythe , but this time square in the stomach. "Is this really all the Legendary Scythe Meister that defeated Asura has to offer," Red said grinning.

Maka nearly smirked, he may have been strong, but he wasn't Black*Star's or Kid's level, much less the more powerful people they had fought. "Fine, if you want it, you've got it; Soul, let's go!"

"Alright!" Soul smirked, his upper body visible in the scythe's blade.

"Let's go: Soul Resonance!" they exclaimed simultaneously, beginning to glow translucent blue. "WITCH HUNTER!!" Maka exclaimed as Soul 's head took the form of a crescent moon. "RRRRAAAAHHHH!!!" Maka roared as she charged towards Red, leaping into the air and landing scythe-first, sending a gigantic shockwave towards the male scythe meister.

Just then Stein appeared and grabbed the Witch HUnter with one hand and Red sythe with the other. He fired a Soul Pulse into both weapon causing both miesters to fly back a bit. Stein sighed and stood up-right. He turned the screw in his head a few times before speaking. "A little much for a friendly match don't you think?" he said galncing at both pairs. "Besides we'll have to bring this to a close. Lord Death wants to see everyone in the Death Room."

"I think you should end this Red," Tenka's weapon from said.

"Yeah, I'm getting bored," Red said. He disappeared and reappeared behind Maka and Soul and proclaimed with a soft voice, "Bloody Roar." Red put his hand on the back of Maka and let out his Soul Menace attack, one that would even make Black*Star's look like a cat scratch, making her fall to the floor like a rag doll. He turned and began to walk away, until he heard someone getting up and he turned to revealed that she wasn't done yet. Red smiled and said, "Guess than we should use that attack."

"Red you sure," Tenka asked.

"Yeah she wont stay down so I'll have to put her down for good," Red replied with a cold look in his eyes. "SOUL RESONANCE," Red screamed. "Obliteration Slicer," he said as the blade of the scythe grew three times as large as the witch hunter and pitch black. Red ran straight at Maka and began to swing his scythe like an axe murder.

In the Death Room the grim reaper was looking at his reflection in his mirror. There was a great sense of ditress about him. "I never thought things could take a turn like this, and right after the fight with Ashura as well." Just then Spirit walked into the room.

 

"Lord Death, everyone should be arriving soon. I send Stein to fetch all of them." Death nodded.

 

"Good. Once their all here i'll explain the course of action."

 

"What's wrong sir? What's going on?" asked Spirit with a hint of curiosity in his voice. Lord Death just looked back at his mirror.

 

"There may be dark cloud ahead Spirit, and they may be much closer than we think."

"Lord Death?" Soul asked curiously as he reverted back to his human form. "What would he want with us?"

"I don't know," Maka replied. "Kid, you can come out now!" You see, before Maka jumped down with Soul they had made a plan with Kid for him to surprise attack their opponent when he was concentrating on Maka and Soul. Maka turned around and began walking towards the Death Room, Soul following close behind.

Though Kid had been the one to want to fight the newer meister in the first place, he hadn't been able to get into the action as Maka and Soul had gone about it so quickly. And before too much had happened Stein had stopped both pair's soul resonances and called them into the Death Room. Upon hearing Stein and later Maka's call to them, Kid, Liz, and Patty all walked into the Death Room. Kid had to wonder what was going on. It wasn't like being suddenly called into the Death Room was unusual but one could never guess what Death could possibly want you for when he called you in.

"Stein says you wanted to see us Father?" he said as they all entered.

Jak ran down the halls of the DWMA with Leon following close behind. "Jak! Wait up for me!!" Leon groaned as he ran, trying to catch up to Jak.

 

"Sorry Leon. But Lord Death wants us in the Death Room ASAP, so we have to hurry up and get there before we miss out on what he says." Jak said as he continued to run.

 

Leon shook his head and said,"Whatever.."

Once everyone had gathered in the room Lord Death over looked all of them. "Hey everyone. Good to see you all could make it. As you all know Stein and Spirit asked you all to come here becuase i have something important to bring to you attention. Even though Ashura has been defeated some have reported me about a hint of madness in the air, and not to worry all of you but i've been feeling it too." Just then Lord Death put up a hand. "However don't think that Ashura just brought himself back! I highly doubt that's the case." said the Grim Reaper. Just then Stein cut in.

 

"You think there maybe another source." Death nodded.

 

"That preciesly what i think, and that's also the reason i called you all here."

Jak looked at Lord Death and said confidently,"So you're thinking that there is some new threat with the exact same madness level as the Kishin Ashura? How in the world is that even possible??"

 

"Great...the world might be coming to another end." Leon said shaking his head. "Well I know one thing, me and Jak are in. We'll help you guys out anyway we can."

"Why in Death's name would he wanna see us," Red said walking up to the Death Room, he was thinking about scaling the side of the wall, but Kid had object for maybe Red would disrupt the symmetry of the building. Red and Tenka walked in the middle of the conversation, so they only caught the parts about a wavelength similar to Asuras' and what followed.

"So you're saying there is another Kishin out there?" Tenka asked curiously.

"We don't entirely know that for sure." said Spirit. "But whatever is causing this new madness wavelength can't be a good thing." Stein cut in.

 

"Spirits right, but what course of action do we take if there is no idea what the source is or where it's coming from?" he asked. Lord Death spoke next.

 

"Only time will tell on that Stein, until then the best thing we can do is keep on our guard and wait things out. I just wanted to bring that to everyone attention. You're all free to go." everyone turns to leave when suddenly the grim reaper spoke once more.

 

"Actually Kid, if you don't mind, i have a little errand i'd like for you to run."

"Yes father." Kid said immediately after he was called. Liz and Patty had almost walked out the door when they were told they were free to leave but hearing Kid called they stayed as well. Kid waited for everyone to leave telling Maka to go ahead out.

"You can wait for us if you'd like though I'm not sure I'll be very available for the rest of the day. If you two still want to go on a mission it would be by yourselves is my bet." he told Maka and Soul. After everyone had cleared out Kid returned his attention to Death. These calls to do errands always intrigued Kid, mostly because he could never tell what they would involve.

"So what does this errand entail father?" he asked.

"There is actually a special assignment i want you to carry out for me Kid. I'm not sure if i've ever told you this becuase this was quite some time before you where born." said Lord Death scratching the back of his head. "Have i ever told you about Sparta?" he asked his son suddenly sounding serious.

While Kid had been paying attention the whole time, Liz and Patty only focused in when Death suddenly became serious. It didn't happen often and it usually meant something really important was happening or was going to happen.

"Sparta? No you've never mentioned it Father. In fact, I don't believe I've ever heard of that name before." Kid said. Liz and Patty were whispering to each other excitedly in the background. Kid was now beginning to wonder what was really going on now. But it seemed Death was willing to explain.

"What do you think Lord Death wants with Kid?" Maka asked as they walked down the hall towards the mission board. Soul merely shrugged.

"Who knows? If Kid's the only one doing it, then I doubt we'd be much help. Anyway, we shouldn't worry about him, Kid can handle himself, and he did tell us to take a mission without him." Already knowing that another kishin was going to be born, the only thing that surprised the partners was that it was happening so soon.

"Yeah I guess you're right," Maka sighed, folding her arms behind her back. 'I didn't expect another threat to come so soon.' she thought as they continued. 'I have to make sure that Soul becomes a death scythe before another Kishin attacks.

 

Finally they reached the Mission Board, and they took a peek. "Looks like this one would be good," Maka mused aloud, and Soul looked to the one she was pointing at.

"Charles Manson? Sounds good."

[~Kefka~]

"Actually his real name isn't Sparta. It was Kiryu Ishagami, and he was one of my personal gaurds. He got the nickname Sparta because that was the name of the weapon he used. Although his weapon wasn't a human partner there was still something different about that sword. Like it had some sort of dark pressence about it. Anywho, close to 1000 years ago a Keshin came to power and Sparta went to face and destroy without my permission." Death said while trying to remember all the details.

 

"However, as strong as he was Sparta was unable to kill the Keshin and risked being killed in the process. But he also had a trick up his sleeve. Using his dark powers within his sword Sparta was able to seal both himself and the Keshin away inside a chapel in Rome. However it's been over 1000 years, and not only has the chapel been long since abandoned, i'm afraid the seal is beginning to weaken."

"He was strong enough to seal a Keshin?! By himself?!" Liz suddenly said surprised by the idea. Kid shared in her shock, it was an impressive feat to say the least. Ashura had taken Death attaching his immense soul to a town to seal and even that couldn't prevent his resurrection. For a man to seal a Keshin for even one hundred years by himself seemed ridiculous, never mind the one thousand years Death claimed it has stayed. As hard as everything was to believe, Death was being serious. And the few times Death was serious were the few times his words were to be accepted as absolute truth.

"So the seal is weakening. Then I suppose you have some way to strengthen it? ...Wait a minute, if Sparta has spent the past millennium alone, sealed with the Keshin... what's become of him?" Kid said.

[~Kefka~]

"That's what puzzles me. How a human man was able to keep a Keshin sealed away for so long is beyond me. But then again like Ashura there's something not quite human about Sparta. I'm afraid if the seal breaks both Sparta and the Keshin will be released, and with all the dark energy and madness around him so long who knows how this effected the both of them." the grim reaper told his soon.

 

"This is where i need you to come in Kid. As you know we've been collecting Ebion's Magic Tools so they won't fall into the wrong hands. However there are some projects Ebion had planned but never got around to createing. At one point his had a lab in Dublin where most of his brainstorming took place, and over there they maybe some blue prints for a way to strenghten the seal that Sparta created."

"I'll be gone within the hour if you like Father! I'll bring anything and everything that looks like a blueprint from that place!" Kid said upon hearing his destination. It looked like he and his partners were going to Ireland. Dublin to be exact and precise about it. Patty was getting psyched about the idea of going to Ireland.

"Yay! We get to go to an island! It'll be fun!" Patty exclaimed. Liz didn't exactly share the enthusiasm.

"You know it's a cold island right? Not like Hawaii or any of that." Liz said.

"Really? Oh well, it should still be fun!" Patty said.

"We'll be off then Father. Unless you have anything else you'd like to say on the matter." Kid said.

"Nope! That's about it! Be careful, have fun come back soon, and give me an update once your there!" he said waving to his son and his partners.

 

Meanwhile Black*Star and Tsubaki where looking over the mission board for a good mission. "Let's see......." Tsubaki scanned her eyes over the mission board carefully. "This one says that over in Europe there have been reports of disappearences in a town close to France. Reports have said that the missing people all had one thing in common. They all disappeared around the same time of night, about 1:30 am." Just then Black*Star smirked.

 

"Alright then! This sounds like a case for the shining star of the DWMA! I'll make such and appearence that all the missing people will come out just to see me!!! Gyahahahaha!!!" Tsubaki sweatdropped.

 

"Good to see he's confident." she thought to herself as her and Black*Star headed out.

Jak walked over to the Mission board with Leon and saw Black Star and Tsubaki standing there. "Hey Black Star, Tsubaki. How are you two this day?" he as with a smile.

 

Leon looked at Black Star and said,"So, what mission are you taking today Black Star? Cause lets hope you at least get a keshin soul this time. Last time, after Ausra you didnt get a single one."

 

Jak then hit Leon in the back of the head and said,"Dont start, Leon."

"We'll be off then Father. Liz, Patty, let's go." Kid said. At his words the group left the Death room. "So... Dublin." Liz said. "Dublin." Kid said. "Dublin!" Patty added. The group quickly realized they'd need to be dressing a little warmer, or at least Liz and Patty would. The small red shirts were fine for Death City weather but wouldn't do much good in the cold of Ireland. Kid didn't so much need to worry about weather. Being the son of a god, he was a god himself and that relieved him of many problems such as being too cold or too hot. Though it also prevented him from dying the white stripes in his hair to his dismay.

 

"Well, we'll have to stop for you two to change." Kid said. The group agreed as they continued walking. They soon passed by the missions board where they saw Soul and Maka, Black Star and Tsubaki, and Jak and Leon. Kid figured he should at least confirm with Soul and Maka that he wouldn't be joining them.

"Well it seems you already have a mission selected Maka. Anyway, my feeling was correct. Don't expect to see us for the rest of today, we're off to Dublin." Kid said.

"Dublin!" Patty said excitedly again.
