.Frostpaw
I use the Double Battle startegy in one of my teams, and it works great. I agree with everything Dark has said. Ex: Rabbits are introduced to Austrailia. (Lopunny is introduced to OU)Rabbits destroy landscape. (Lopunny dominates OU)Cats are introduced to Australia. (Hariyama is introduced to OU)Rabbit population decreases. (Lopunny is mostly removed from the OU metagame by Hariyama)Cat population decreases from lack of food. (Hariyama decreases in use because Lopunny isn't a common threat.) Is that a decent comparison?

It was really just the ups and downs of population, but it's amazing how many aspects of competitive battling you can relate that to. And yes, that is a good example. I apologize for an eight-day bump, but I would like more feedback.
Eury
Last time I read this was like a week ago and I'm too lazy to read it now, so if you already used this example or one like it sorry. D: Magikarp and Feebas. 2 Pokemon that have absolutely no chance of survival. Picked off by even the weakest of foes (Dunsparce, Togepi, etc.) life for them is pretty hard. To accommodate for this, they evolve into 2 fawking powerful leviathans. Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, a massive powerhouse. Feebas evolves into Milotic, a Pokemon with good defenses. This is similar to say the Peppered Moth (iirc). In Russia, it used to be pure white. But because of the huge rise in factories, soot and ash and a bunch of other sheet started contaminating the places where the moth lived. Since their camouflage was gone, their numbers began to decrease. But, they adapted by turning a gray, or peppered color, to camouflage themselves within the soot and all the other crap. I have a horrible feeling this post is extremely retarded.
Dark
Well, I wouldn't use that comparison. In biology, there are things called "surviorship curves". They basically illustrate your chance of survival at any given point in your lifespan. Humans, for example, are more likely to be alive at a young age. Once a human gets older, there chance of survival is decreased. A turtle, on the other hand, has a very low chance of survival at a young age. If the turtle can get past the early stage of life, it will end up living for quite some time. Red = humans, blue = tortoises. Magikarp and Feebas are blue Pokemon. They are fail in the early stages of life, but if they evolve, they become a force to be reckoned with.
Womi
Wait, the percents symbolize what?
Dark
Wait' date=' the percents symbolize what?[/quote'] The chance that any given organism will survive. And time is basically, a lifespan. To reiterate, humans have a high chance of birth survival, and a low chance of old-age survival, so the red graph is exponentially decreasing. On the other hand, turtles have trouble surviving as kids, but end up living very old should they survive. So, the blue curve takes a steep drop but eventually becomes "horizontal", hitting the 0% much later than a human would.
Womi
Okay, but do 100% of the human survive when born? O_o
Dark
Okay' date=' but do 100% of the human survive when born? O_o[/quote'] It's a general graph. <_< If I actually put time on the x-axis, you'd ask if all humans die at age 83 or something. It's not supposed to represent the entire population; just the majority.
Womi
So everybody gets what you mean. Okay. You are a real graph artist, btw. Yo.
Dark
I made that on Paint in the timespan of ten seconds. Cut me some slack. <_
