New way to Sticky Threads. Need all member's input

I was going to post this in the Mod Forum but perhaps it would be better to share it with you all. I have been coming up with a plan to solve any future problems of Sticky Threads.

 

I would suggest a "Best of" Sticky for each Custom Cards section. This would contain cards that members have created that Mods personally like. Also Contest Winners and specially requested Cards could be there. I could also list some of the more Up and coming Members who have a natural knack for Card Mkaing and deserve credit for what they do. Just a few things so far. Care to add anything? I'm all ears. Also I would love to hear from the other CC Mods about this situation.

Exactly. To be honest I often smile at quite a lot of Cards and Threads but worry to Sticky them. Too many Stickys would mean Clutter. Having it in one Topic would be perfect.

Then we would list as many as we would like to. Heck I can count at least 50 that I like and would be happy to devote a part of the Thread the J-Max. As for the Sets? They would need to either apply for a application, or we "Stick" it. All Stickies would be permanent of course.

Actually... The RC thing is more about treating everyone as equals. 4 Stickies. All of them a discussion topic of some sort. If not, a rules thread.

Actually, there were a couple of stickies in the past that I agreed with, namely Resonating Lust's reviews and the Elite Card Makers or some-such, can't recall the exact name. Properly ran, those threads could perhaps serve a purpose.

 

I totally understand the equality principle, and I agree with it for the most part, but I also think exceptionally good creations shouldn't be lost in time with less comments than another "My god cards" thread.

The one thing I don't like about this is that some new members may get confused about this and just make awful cards and post them on the "best of" thread they would just want the credit when they aren't an experienced card maker.

 

If you make some rule that members can't post cards in the thread I will support it.

Well I was thinking of Leaving the Topic Locked. But of course I could leave it open for people to ask. If I or the other CC Mods are happy we can add it. I think Dj Osiris did something like this a while back and asked each member to post their favorite card. This would be a little different.

It could work assuming there was "quality-control" from a higher-up, because like King Matrix said, people will just post whatever they want if they feel it's deserving.

 

It should be up to the section's mod(s), as it would not only be an endorsement to the creator but also a reference for new card makers. Of course, it'd fail miserably if people were "let loose" on the thread, and it'd need constant monitoring, else it'd either wither and die (like the promising Yankee's Review thread) or become a train-wreck where everyone could post.

Well luckily the Mods have the ability to delete Spam Posts if things get out of control. I'll be sure to try and update once per day of course.

At the current time, I really dont see even an experimental thread wise. With the server loads being strained, and lag resulting in excessive loading. Having 20+ cards per thread that isn't by a single user would be bad.

 

And knowing YCM, Favorite = Best. That is not the case, and you would chance that?

Having a "featured" card would mean one user is better than another directly. That will not happen. It would be extremely negative to the idea that everyone is equal (and they are).

if there is a way to fix this in the following ways:

1. Make it so no one can just post their cards because they want to.

2. Make it so that it doesn't make one person seem better than another.

3. make sure that the thread isn't locked.

Than i don't see it not working.

Having a "featured" card would mean one user is better than another directly. That will not happen. It would be extremely negative to the idea that everyone is equal (and they are).

 

I disagree. It would mean a particular card stands out among the others that were posted that same day/week. It praises particularly impressive creations, and considering the selection is supposed to be unbiased, it will never be about "saying one user is better than the others". I've always believed good work should be praised instead of ignored along with the rest. :/

 

And from that perspective, contests should also be abolished because they're also about saying one user is better than the other.

No one will get a spotlight, they already have it. Maybe we can think of a system that doesnt break the pattern we have going.

 

And the stupid god cards are locked or moved to AoC anyway.

well it could be like a card of the week or card of the month kind of thing to, i love the idea personally, its like a collection, cause every now and then u see a card that really stands out from others, but it would definately need to be critiqued by more then 1 person probs,m but great idea for sure.
