Nope, only transparent. If it has a background of any color it isn't a render. Though depending on the coloring of the character a black background pic would probably be pretty easy to render.

Only problem is the faint white outline that you can kind of see. Ah well. *takes and puts in sig*

 

It's the quality of the render that's causing that. You'd need a really high quality render to not get any of that in the final product. But that takes a lot of work and even then it might not be possible to get rid of every bit of white background from around the rendered character without erasing parts of the character itself.
