Jared Durand sat next to his twin brother, Klaus, waiting for the bus to cross into the Other Realm, a parallel dimension in which the demon population lived. But strangely enough, the Other Realm was shrinking, becoming more and more faint, as the Human Realm grew more powerful, so it was necessary, for any demon who wanted to achieve any greatness, to be able to blend into the Human Realm.

"Brother, I heard there's a special career test they give you when you enter, to determine what you'll do for the rest of your life," Klaus said, pushing his glasses up his nose. Klaus was always on top of the news, so whenever he had a hunch about something, it was normally correct.

"Well, then, Klaus, I'd better get a good score," Jared laughed, looking at the map of the school. They were both freshmen this year, so they'd be taking the test to determine their future as demons.

Matthias was at the next stop, although he was utilizing his monster powers, and was currently in the shape of a black cat. His ears perked as they discussed the career test. They're discussing that stupid career test they have to take as freshmen. I wonder if they know that they don't even have to listen to the results. It's just a stupid thing to make them feel more at home there. Hmmph. Matthias would have shaken his head, but he knew it would give him away, so remained in his current position, cleaning himself with his pure black paws.

Jessica, or Jessy as she liked to be called, walked up to the stop. She saw two boys there, each looking a year older than her, and also a black cat, though she took only slight notice in it. She gulped, and walked up to the boys. "Um...is this where we wait to get on the bus to Pravus?" she asked, knowing that if she said too much, and they were simply human, she would be giving something away.

The bus pulled up to the stop, and the archaic looking bus driver pulled the door open. "Hello, please get on this bus. Next stop, Pravus Academy."

Jared watched as Jessy stepped on the bus. "As I was saying, this will correctly predict 95% of demon's careers. The other 5% just fail out of the required classes I guess," he laughed. Our father was diagnosed to be a general, and look. He is. General Durand of the Other Realm Army.

Klaus snorted. "A test that can predict the future? I'd like to see that."

Matthias continued to listen to the two boys as they got on the bus. So they think I'm going to fail, do they? Yeah right. With that, he shifted back to his human form. Ignoring any looks he got, as he was used to it, he quickly walked onto the bus, right behind a girl he guessed to be about 13. She sat down looking timid and nervous, and Matthias smirked. More fresh meat, he thought sadistically.

Jessy, as she began walking on the bus, was startled when the black cat suddenly changed into a teenage boy. She almost squeaked as he got on the bus behind her, but managed not to. Oh please don't let him sit next to me. There's something, his scent maybe, that just makes him seem so scary.

Jared turned to Jessy. "Hello, you seem a little young, doesn't she, Klaus?"

"Don't ask me," Klaus said, flipping his hair. "Nice to meet you, miss. My name is Klaus Durand, son of General Augustus Durand."

Klaus held out a hand, expecting Jessy to take it and shake it. "This moron is my twin brother, Jared."

"Moron?!" Jared said, punching Klaus against the bus window, making the window splinter.

Jessy was about to shake hands with Klaus when he got his face smashed against the window. She watched in awe as the window cracked, but no visible damage was done to the boy. She gulped, then the words the boys had said clicked into her head. "I am not young!" she practically screamed. "I'm thirteen years old! And from what I can tell, you two aren't that much older than me!" She sighed, and took a big breath. "Anyway, my name's Jessica Graaven. But you can call me Jessy. Everybody does." She smiled at the two boys. They looked quite identical, and she was embarrassed to say that she found them very much attractive.

Matthias watched the whole spectacle from the seat across the aisle in the bus. He smiled to himself as the one boy got punched, and caused the window to crack. Those two are tougher than they look. And that girl, Jessy she said, her mind is more mature than I would have guessed.

"Nice to meet you, Jessy" the two said, in sync. Jared smiled. "And don't be scared because of the whole punch thing. That's just average roughhousing for Alder Kings!"

Klaus smiled, "Well, Jessy, I'm guessing we're all freshmen, so that isn't too much of a deal. You may have classes with us, if we're lucky. But the school is pretty big, considering it's the only secondary school in the entire Other Realm."

Suddenly, the bus was stretched to a point of almost tearing into two, and they crossed the barrier between the Human Realm and the Other Realm, which was cleverly concealed inside a large tree in a wooded area.

Matthias watched as all the incoming freshmen screamed and shouted in awe and fear as the bus made the trip into the Other Realm. For some reason, his attention centered around the young girl, Jessy. Try as he might, he couldn't break his attention away from anyone else. Now...why the heck would I care about her? He didn't know what it was...maybe some innate fatherly instinct or something. Whatever it is, I'll just have to deal with it. Seeing that a look of fear and worry had crossed onto Jessy's face, he leaned over and put a hand on her shoulder. When she turned his way, he smiled. "Don't worry. It's just a quick jump to the Other Realm. I'm sure you'll get used to it." She nodded, and smiled at him, grateful for the distraction.

Klaus pushed his glasses up his nose, as they had fallen and gone crooked when the bus jolted into the other realm. Two large archaic-looking gates opened for the bus, joining 14 other buses that seemed to be transporting students to the school.

Jared grinned widely. "This year is going to be fun. First things first, I've got to establish myself as a fighter."

"Jared! Remember what mother said," Klaus said, putting his hand on Jared's shoulder. "Don't fight anyone. We're on a different plane of existence then they are."

The Alder King inside Jared's mind hissed, Brother, how dare you deny your roots! You are an Alder King as well, so you must fight!

Klaus shot Jared a wary glance that said more than one of his drawn-out rants on Jared's behavior.

Jessy watched in awe as the buses connected. I had no idea that there could be this many monsters on the Earth. I thought we were supposed to be a rare breed, like endangered or something. This is...unbelievable. Matthias, in the other seat, could tell from her eyes and expression what she was thinking. "You're wrong," he said, startling her. She spun around, and gave him a questioning look. "We're not rare breeds, or endangered, or anything. We simply...survive. Although I'm not sure how those two," he pointed his thumb at Klaus and Jared, "are going to survive. Anyway, I'm going to help you out for a while once we get to that school, alright?" Jessy nodded at him, then turned her eyes back to the spectacle unfolding outside the bus.

"That's a very rude statement," Klaus said, without turning around. "Alder Kings survive by taking life force from living souls. It's not something that can ever go away though. We could absorb life force from trees, and we could live for thousands upon thousands of years. My grandfather was an Athenian scholar."

Jared laughed, getting off the bus and staring at the large castle that was the school. Or at least, part of it was a castle. Newer buildings were surrounding the castle, and Jared figured those were the dorms. A crowd of seniors were gathered around the fountain, talking about how they had spent their summers in the Alps, terrorizing the human populations, and other interesting stories.

A boy with long black hair sniffed the air, then turned to Jared. "You've got a powerful aura, don't you, boy?"

Jared smirked, "What do you want to make of it?"

The young boy smirked, shaking his head. He grips his bag and adjusts it back onto his shoulder. "Usually the individuals with unusually powerful aura are usually the ones everyone wants. I'd watch your back. I'm giving you advise from experience." He walks past the group, then stops for a moment and turns around. "I'd watch your back here. I may be a freshman as well, but I can tell something big is gonna happen. I can bet my wings and tail on it." He continues walking away.

Jared felt a powerful aura coming out of the boy that just warned him. "You're powerful as well, but you have a pretty dark aura field. Nice to meet you. The name's Jared. Jared Durand."

The boy who wanted to fight Jared stepped back when he heard Durand. "Durand? As in Augustus Durand!?"

Jared smirked, and pushed a ball of invisible energy into the opponents chest, sending him flying into the fountain. "Why, yes. Father does like that."

The boy stops, then walks back to Jared, chuckling. "You're quite the observant one. but this dark aura that you sense is because my father is a Grigori. A Fallen Angel. My name's Leon. Leon Lonewolf. I've heard of the great Durand clan. I heard they were great heroes in the Great War. But, of course, it's most likely another lie my Good-for-Nothing mother told me to get her way. But I can tell you are very powerful, using a low-level spell to blast a single person so far."

"My father was in the Great War. He vanquished an entire league of demons with a single swipe of my katana, Moon. He created the sword himself, sealing part of his own power into the blade," Jared said, pulling out the sword, "Of course, in the last hundred years, the powers have started to fade."

Jared put the sword back in its sheath on the luggage. "Ugh, I've got to get to the dorms and put all this stuff away before I go to the Orientation."

Klaus carried his luggage on his shoulder, looking at the dorm listing card he was given. "Room 215, boys' dormitory." He sighed, and continued walking to the building where some of the other freshmen boys were wandering too.

"This is such a boring school already," Jared said, "If something doesn't happen during Orientation, I might just die of boredom."

Leon follows Jared and Klaus to the boys dorm. His dorm is 216. "I'm sure the Senior class will give us a welcome present. Better bring a few things with you for protection. They don't allow weapons in the building, I believe," He yells from his room. He empties his luggage in their proper places: Clothes in the drawers, shirts in the closet, laptop on his desk and a katana hanging above the bed. He reaches into the side pockets of his bag and puts a few magical marbles into his pocket. "Well, I'm all set."

Jared put his Katana, Moon, under his bed, and sat on top. Their was little life in the room, besides a few bugs in the walls and under the desk, from what Jared could tell, but that really wouldn't bother him, because, even at night, Alder Kings can see life force loud and clear. Jared changed from his Nirvana tee shirt, into the school uniform, which, for boys, consisted of a white button up shirt, a black and red tie, black pants, and a black with red trim pullover vest.

"This school's uniform doesn't look half as bad as the last one," Jared said, remembering back to last year, when he was forced to wear a navy blue and yellow uniform, and shuddered at the thought.

Leon changed into his uniform, but kept his headband on. I wouldn't know anything about uniforms. This is the first school I've been to. I blame my parent....and the streets. Sad how I'm one of the few Incubi out there who isn't so flippin' horny that there isn't a single minute without a female strapped on to their genitalia...I feel rediculous." He stares at himself with the uniform. "Damn private schools."

Jared and Klaus weren't sharing a room, for once in their life, so they could have some independence from being called Jared and Klaus. "So Freshman Orientation is in the auditorium, which is in the main castle," Jared said, looking at the map of the school, which moved around, as magic. The different corridors sometimes leading to different rooms, you had to be wary.

Klaus straightened his tie and walked over to the Freshman Orientation. "i wonder where Jared is," he said, before determining that his twin hadn't shown his face yet.

Leon looks around the castle hallways. You could easily get lost unless you're a veteran student or staff member, you have a map, or you have a GPS or sensors. He looks through each hallway, a bit confused. "Well, I aint gonna get there. The Auditorium could be anywhere." He sees a group of kids traveling together, but he can't tell if they're freshmen or upperclassmen. "Got a map on you, Jared? I know standing here aint gonna get us anywhere.

"Hahah, yeah, but I'm not going to the assembly," Jared said, "It seems a little boring. I'm going to go exploring the castle. See here, there's a staircase on the bottom dungeon level, but there's no level under that where the stairs lead. I want to check it out."

"Welcome, freshmen, to Pravus Academy!" the headmaster, a man in a white cloak said, "Please, enjoy walking around to the booths to see the elective classes you can take this year."

Klaus stood and walked over to Human Relations, a booth with a very strict man in a suit behind it. "As a Human Relations student, you must take Human Realm history, World Travel, and Government. You will periodically travel into the Human Realm to work."

Klaus shook his head and walked on.

Britney, Natalie and Justin all walked into the auditorium, All dressed in their uniforms and staying very close to each other. They were all freshman and they were wondering who they could trust and who they couldn't. "Well, this looks fun yay" . Britney said sarcastically as she looked around at all the moving faces and different people. "Well I'm going to go look at this tuff cause i have too, Peace out Britney see ya later" . Justin said in his Sarcastic and Joking tone as he left, Natalie following behind him. Britney just rolled her eyes and left the auditorium, Accidently bumping into Jared while she was walking outside.

She stumbled over a little as she looked over a Jared with a glare. "Hey Watch where..." , Britney stopped in mid sentence as she saw Jared with her eyes, She liked the way he look, Then she continued, "Oh im so sorry i didn't mean to bump into you i was just not looking sorry" . Britney said as she brushed some hair out of her eyes and she looked at Jared, She was very excited, She found her first friend in Pravus.....maybe.

"Hello," Jared said, smiling. "No, it's my fault. I should've watch where I was going. Nice to meet you, umm, you never gave me your name."

Klaus brushed his hair out of the way of his glasses and stared at the registry for the School Newspaper Club, which meant taking two literature classes, grammar class, photography, and fighting (just in case).

"You may not want to join the Newspaper Club, unless you're strong enough," a boy behind the counter sniffed. He had three scars across his face. "I'm the club leader, Byron Regard. Just to warn you ahead of time, reporting on some of the events means investigating into the bowels of the criminal underworld. But that's what you have to do to be an intrepid reporter."

Klaus simply signed his name on the roster.

"Well my names Britney, Britney Marie DeBarge for a full name, Im a Succubus, I love guys with brown hair, And my two older twins are Natalie and Justin, Now anything about you i should know about like your name perhaps" . Britney said calmly, But on the inside her heart was beating like a Natal Drum. Her eyes were darting over Jared's featured, From the hair on top of his head to his feet.

Natalie and Justin looked over at all the booths there were. They were both confused on what to pick. "Please tell me they at least have some sort of singing class or something, I love singing but if not i plan to be a journalist" . Natalie told Justin as she was looking over at the booths, Trying to see what was actually something she would want to sign up for. Justin just looked around, Trying to find any hot girl in the area.

"My name is Jared Durand, no middle name. Son of General Augustus Durand, General of the Army," Jared said, smiling. "It's nice to meet you Britney."

Jared looked back down at the map. "Well, I've got to get going, otherwise, I might just lose my chance to see what I want before the hallways fill up with those annoying freshmen who are in the assembly. I'm going to be on the Newspaper Club. You should join, Britney!"

Jared walked off down the hall, going down the stairs at the end of the hall and into the dungeon, going down three more floors before he reached the staircase to nowhere on his map.
