Ok. I have been watching 5d's on youtube. I just saw an episode in which some dude named Greiger used Dark Synchros and Dark Tuners. I decided to look it up on yugioh wikia and here is what i found.

Dark Synchro Monsters are an anime and video game-only monster category that debuted in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 27 and are also present in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 4. Dark Synchro Monsters are Dark Synchro Summoned by sending to the Graveyard 1 Dark Tuner monster and 1 non-Tuner monster. Besides the "Dark Tuner Monster", you can use any monster for the Dark Synchro Summon. The non-Tuner Monster's Level minus the Dark Tuner Monster's Level must be equal to the Dark Synchro Monster's Level (note that the Dark Synchro Monsters have a negative level, something that isn't possible with any other monster in the game). Their Levels start at the opposite side of the card (regular cards start at the right side, they start at the left side).

Dark Synchro Monsters are not simply DARK Synchro Monsters, but are a completely different monster category, although they are similar to Synchro Monsters. The color is opposite of a Synchro Monster, with a black card frame.

Dark Tuner Monsters are a new monster type that made its debut in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's in episode 27. Dark Synchro Monsters are Synchro Summoned by sending to the Graveyard 1 Dark Tuner Monster and 1 non-Dark Tuner Monster. The non-Dark Tuner Monster's Level minus the Dark Tuner Monster's Level must be equal to the Dark Synchro Monster's Level.

That Dark Tuner Monsters are not just DARK Attribute Tuner Monsters, but are a completely different kind of monster, identified by having Dark Tuner listed after their Type. However, according to Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Tag Force 4, Dark Tuners act as a subcategory of Tuner monsters. Any card that would affect a Tuner can affect a Dark Tuner the same way.

Unlike regular Tuner Monsters, the Dark Tuners are mostly high in Level, with the exception of "Dark Tuner Dark Ape" and "Dark Tuner - Black Goddess Witaka", due to the fact that their Levels must be subtracted from the remainder of the Synchro Material Monsters for a Negative Level. This potentially makes them much more difficult to Summon. So far, all of the Dark Tuner Monsters that have appeared have 0 ATK and DEF, with the exception of "Dark Tuner Doom Submarine", and are DARK. So far Dark Tuner's have been Fiend, Warrior, Insect, Beast, Spellcaster and Machine Type.

Now. I bring this up because some people posted that they wish that the OCG/TCG included Dark Synchros/tuners and didnt change the ones to regular like they did.

Others want them to be released during this years series.

Discuss.

Dark Synchros have run their course in the anime. In RL, we have regular Synchro versions of Underground Arachnid, Hundred-Eyes Dragon, Moon Dragon Quilla, and Zeman the Ape King.

Dark Diviner, Frozen Fitzgerald, and Dark Top Float or whatever could one day make it into regular Synchro monsters in some form, but the Dark Synchro mechanic will probably never be seen in real life.

No, I wouldn't. They would be a pointless addition to support a game mechanic that technically already exists, but is slightly changed. Dark Synchros and Tuners were created solely for anime purposes, to further distinguish the contrasts between the light and dark factions. Dark Signers used Dark Synchros, corrupted and reversed versions of regular Synchros that not only used subtraction to find their monster levels, but involved negative levels and high-level, low ATK Tuners of an entirely different class.

The same mechanics are already seen in regular Synchros, as really the formula could have been Dark Tuner level - non-Tuner level = (-) Dark Synchro level and not change a thing. The rulings for negative leveled monsters would be frustrating and complicated and would break the already conceived game mechanics of Level 1 being the lowest possible monster Level, and how to imprint that into existing cards without overpowering the Dark Synchros. (Level Limit Area-B is commonly brought up).

Surprisingly, Underground Arachnid has no change between its RL and anime effect. Hundred Eyes' anime effect was broken beyond belief. Moon Dragon Quilla is also about the same in RL, and Zeman...got a bad effect.

While I agree, the negative levels should only exist as "negative" for their summon, there's still the matter that USING that mechanic is absolutely pointless when you can just make them regular Synchros and not have to deal with ruling issues and creating Dark Tuners.

I honestly have always loathed Dark Synchros simply because one is forced to run DARK monsters in a deck that may or may not need them in an attempt to use them. Case(s) in point: Arachnid and Zeman. Both types (Insect and Beast) are fairly decent, but neither have a DARK tuner. Therefore, one has to toss in such tuners as Dark Resonater or Gale in order to use their repsective Synchros, and I hate that.

tl;dr: I hate Dark Synchros because I can't run Solid in Beast and Insect Decks with Arachnid and Zeman.

Infernity Beetle says hi! I made an insect deck (with Solidarity) that kicks so much a** thanks to Infernity Beetle being a DARK Insect tuner. Underground Arachnid is SOOO playable now that Beetle was released.

...Touche. I was mostly thinking of WC10, where Beetle doesn't exist, but you are correct.

Dark Diviner is rather broken...it would be nerfed.

I think of the Dark Synchro's negative numbers as their absolute values when they're not being Dark Synchro Summoned.

I'd like to see Dark Synchros in real life' date=' but the chances of that are less than zero. Bleh.

less than zero

was that intentional lol
