how do you beat Obelisk the Tormentor?

I need help because half of the time my friend brings out Obelisk and I don't anything that can stop it. So how can I kill it with out spending a lot of money to get Egyptian god cards or Exodia?

have 3 card destrcutions so your odds of killin his hand with it in it are good, use alot of traps to keep 3 monsters off his field idk after that

its not hard to find cards eith over 4000 atk these days. go spend 10 bucks on the machina Mayhem structure deck. it comes with Machina Force. a large monster with 4600 atk. just whoop him with more atk. its simple.

Obelisk can't be targeted by Spells, Traps, or Monster effects. Plasma targets.

 

@renji696: It is presumed he is referring to the PLAYABLE, tournament legal Effect Monster version of Obelisk, which specfically prevents S/Ts from activating upon its summon, the summon itself can't be negated, and that Spells, Traps, or Monster Effects that TARGET don't work. Therefore, the Spells, Traps, and Monster Effects that DONT target are still fair game.

Also, pretty sure Juju, DDWL, DD Assassin, Grand Mole don't target. They also all get around Hard Dragon. Cata's the more splashable option, but doesn't beat the Dragon.

Actually you're wrong on that one slightly. solemn Judgement can be used as well as Divine Wrath. Monster effects are spell speed 2 and Counters are spell speed 3 so they go first and screw Obelisk's effect over.

Read Obelisk's effect. "The Normal Summon of this card cannot be negated". It also specifically states that Spells and Traps cannot be activated in response to its Normal Summon (and unless that card is a Counter Trap that negates the summon, which isn't allowed, then that effect holds true) Also, Obelisk isn't "activating" an effect at that time, just being Summoned, so Wrath doesn't do anything.

Probably not too much. It's a promo that's been reprinted like 3 times. Blue Eyes Ultimate isn't really considered a good card. It's too hard to summon, being a fusion of 3 Blue Eyes for only 4500 ATK and no effect. Five-Headed Dragon is much better and much easier to summon if you have a dragon deck. Dragon's Mirror is awesome in that type of deck.
