I love how Wii isn't an option. <_<

I wouldn't dare own either of those systems, but if I were about to be given rat poison if I didn't choose one, I'd go with PS3. Because to my knowledge, it has more RPG games.

Barely anyone "into" games can take that gimmick seriously.

Because people who play the Wii aren't into video games at all. SENSE HAS BEEN MADE!

And it's all down to personal preference. Apparently if RPG and shooting games are the only things that are "video games", the Wii is a sad excuse for a video game console. If platformers and sidescrollers are also "video games", it's not so much of a sad excuse. I apologize for you having a close-minded approach on what a video game is. I wish I could change that, but alas, I cannot.

Motion controls and the such were just appeals to casual gamers so that Nintendo could make more money' date=' so this is actually true. Nintendo isn't the kind of company to put something like Majora's Mask out there anymore.

You're trying to say the other consoles only have RPGs and Shooters and I'm the close-minded one. Okay.

Motion controls for casual gamers? I agree they diverted from the norm of thumb-numbing controller pads, but that doesn't mean the Wii was a gimmick to attract casual gamers. <_<

You can't really prove that with valid evidence, and if you can, you haven't done it yet.

I'm not saying they only consist of those games, but their game library mostly consists of those games. Out of the current-gen consoles, the Wii is the hardest to pinpoint a game genre for, because there is so damn much to choose from. The XBOX360 is mainly first- and third-person shooters, while the PS3 is that with some RPG games? Does that mean they don't have some random side-scroller game in there? No, they could have it. But for the majority, you don't see those games. On the Wii, you find platformers, whatever you count Brawl as, side scrollers, sports games, party games (if you consider that a genre), et cetera. You can't say, "Hey, the Wii is mainly ____ genre games," because that is not even remotely close to correct.

But this is turning into a console wars debate, which is as stale as a religion debate. And it's even harder to troll during a console war debate. My point stands that the Wii is a current-gen console, and should be recognized as one. There is no reason not to include a "vs Wii" option in this thread, and the TC has not (and most likely cannot) provide a valid reason for failing to list it. You say it's a casual console, but no valid proof has been given. And you might want to clear up your definition of the discrepancy between "casual" and "hardcore". Is "hardcore" playing the same game for eight hours at a time? It may just be me, but regardless whether I am playing Brawl or MW2, I will get bored after three or four hours' time.

Given the fact that they handled it horribly(though Motion Plus was a step in the right direction) and a standard controller is a superior option, it wasn't really anything more than an attempt at hitting an audience that thought the technology itself was cool and not the exact content was worthwhile.

An opportunity hasn't exactly risen. And this is really just opinions, namely those of most "gamers" I know and my own.

The only problem there is that Wii does have a large genre of games in the same category. Wii *Insert Sport or General Activity You'll Have More Fun Doing IRL Than Inside* takes up a large amount of their library.

Maybe he forgot about it, or really didn't care for it like others do. Maybe he just wanted a specific argument between PS3 and 360. PC wasn't included when it very well could be, but no one had to come in here saying that.

To give you some clarity between "hardcore" and "casual", casual focuses on pleasing the majority while hardcore aims to please gamers. Casual generally has less competitive themes in it. A good example of casual are most Mario games, and a good example of hardcore would be just about whatever Valve comes out with. Appealing to both is great, but when a game just can't do that the casual game is seen more as an attempt to get more people to buy their games, and the hardcore game is seen as being made for the sake of game-making.
