Alright, here's what I do

 

Text Shadow

1. Make a regular layer of text and position it where you want.

2. Make another layer of text saying the same thing, but about 8 ir 9 sizes larger.

3. Position on top of the original layer of text.

4. Go to Windows>>Dockable Dialogues>>Layers

5. A window should pop out with a bar on it.

6. Move the bar down (to the left) to decrease the opoacity of the text. I decrease down to about 8-10.

7. Save the image and you're done!

 

Image Shadow

1. Open your image onto your sig and position it where you want.

2. Go to Layers>>Merge Down.

3. Open the same image again (File>>Open as Layers>> then select the same image)

4. Scale the image so it is a bit larger than than the one already on the sig.

5. Position the image over the image already on there.

6. Go to Windows>>Dockable Dialogues>>Layers

7. A window should pop out with a bar on it.

8. Move the bar down (to the left) to decrease the opoacity of the text. I decrease down to about 8-10.

9. Save the image and you're done!
