Guest TheFinalFan
The cab precisely pulled up to the curb, and the cabbie mechanically opened the back door and popped the trunk for Alcaeus. Interestingly, for a brief moment, the cabbie's eyes seemed to be glazed over, like he was in a trance. In the back of the cab was a government-issued photo identification card of Alcaeus, along with a first-class plane ticket for a nonstop flight directy to Dulles International Airport in Washington, D.C. Mysterium Tremendum
Alcaeus silently took the plane ticket while violent thoughts raged inside his head, "How did they get their hands on these? This is government issued and this is a first-class plane ticket. How in heck were they able to afford these. Are they some sort of high business executive?" Alcaeus put the plane ticket and the identification card in his pocket, looked up at the cabbie, and said, "Sir, would you mind telling me where I'm meant to go as soon as I reach the airport in Washington D.C? I was only able to leave a note at home and I'd like to tell my parents exactly where I am just in case." said Alcaeus.
Guest TheFinalFan
The cab driver was completely silent the entire trip, ignoring everything Alcaeus asked. As all three geniuses approached the airports their respective cabs were eaded to, their cell phones rang simultaneously, and a female computerized recording was on the other end."Thank you cooperating with us. Now, here are your instructions. You will be arriving simultaneously with several other child prodigees from across the globe at Dulles Airport. When you disembark from the plane, look for a group of men in military dress uniform with a sign reading "Nick Bottom". These are your escorts to the meeting place. Please feel free to press 1 to hear these instructions again. And have a pleasant flight."
Pegasasu
Ellorie listened carefully to the message she was getting on her phone. She replayed it once, and then turned to Jecht. "I am guessing that you would like to record this message, Jecht?" Ellorie said, handing Jecht her cell phone. "This 'Mission' is getting better and better by the minute, yes?" Ellorie said, grinning. It was getting better- but that was only because of the more risk there was to it. "So military men with a sign saying 'Nick Bottom'. Seems easy enough." Ellorie said, holding her suit case with her belongings in her lap. All it held was her laptop and clothes.
ArtemisFowl
"Of course." Jecht replied listening to the message again. As they neared the airport Jecht looked to Ellorie, looking slightly alarmed. "Well, little Miss Genius, what am I going to do with all the weapons I have at hand?" Jecht asked free to say as he wished becuase there was a dividor between Jecht and Ellorie, and the cab driver. "If I walk through a metal detecor with guns and knives loaded and ready, they'll send me to prison, and I do not look forward to wasting my life in jail." Pegasasu
Ellorie sighed. She pulled a small, cube-ish gadget from her coat pocket, and handed it to Jecht. "Store this near the weaponry, and we won't have any problems." Ellorie gave Jecht a knowing look- she knew he would most likely be confused, but he would comply. She knew that he trusted her, after all, she wsa a child genius. She checked her own pockets for anything that would show up on the monitors before flight. "No, I don't think I have anything that would set us off..." Ellorie said aloud, half to herself.
Mysterium Tremendum
Alcaeus listened to the message and then quickly shut his phone. While his face did not show it, his mind became a whirlwind of thoughts, "This means I'm going to need a new security plan. I won't be able to sneak away from the escorts to ask someone to call the police should something go wrong and I don't appear with a set time period. Whoever this person is, they're not stupid as I'd hoped. With all these precautions, it rules out the possibility of this being some sort of practical joke. Also" Alcaeus looked up at the Cabbie Driver, "The driver hasn't said a word to me this entire trip, he hasn't introduced himself, told me his name, let alone his master's and he hasn't said even tried to strike up a conversation that a usual cabbie driver would do. It doesn't make any sense." Alcaeus scratched his nose in deep thought, "Maybe it’s for some military project, why else would they need scores of child prodigies throughout the world, but if that were true wouldn't they send for us more formally and be a little more polite, tell our families a little more and be more courteous? I was only able to leave a vague note on the kitchen table to make sure that my parents didn't think that I'd been kidnapped. The money, these so-called child prodigies, the irresponsive cabbie driver; none of it adds up and it just gets more confusing the more I think about it. How were they able to afford a first-class plane ticket, escorts, and a personal cabbie driver, why do they need all these geniuses? Alcaeus roughly scratched his head, this is the first time a problem has ever had him this bamboozled, and he could only sit quiet and stare out the window at the rolling hills and passing farmlands. Spartan919
Aaron listened to the message, and after it finished, he pressed the 1 button, and listened to it again. Shaking his head as the cab drove on, he pressed a hand to his forehead. This is all quite unbelievable. For all I know, this is some attempt to capture me and take me back to that...institute as they put it. Oh well...I don't exactly have much choice now, so I'll just have to trust this Titania character. While the cab drove on, Aaron began thinking about ways to escape should his worried prediction be true.
Magnet Soldier
Artemis woke with a start. Another nightmare, and the same face. Laughing at him, the victorious face of Opal Koboi. But he'd defeated and out-smarted her twice before((Three times? Not sure.)) and she was currently trapped in atlantis, in one of the highest security cells there were. She couldn't touch anyone. And all her past accomplices were either on radar or in other hgh security cells. And noone could keep him out aswell. After all, Mulch diggums was currently underneath the white house, listening to anything out of the ordinary on radiowaves, and Butler was watching the security systems for the house. No government plot could escape him, and nothing could touch him. He was safe, even from Fairies. He sighed and walked downstairs towards the coffee machine and made a cup of it. He sighed and slumped into a seat, trying to think of anything that could get to him.
Guest TheFinalFan
"Hello, Artemis. Long time, no see, eh?"Opal Koboi, or at least a red-haired, red eyed human girl with Opal's features, was sitting across from Artemis, sipping a cup of tea."You know, this 'Earl Grey' stuff isn't half bad. I can see why Jean-Luc Picard likes this. I may need to get my foster family to buy me some."She realized that Artemis was stunned, and explained. "Well, I was bored one day, flipping through channels, when I saw an episode of Star Trek, and I got hooked. So noble, all of the talk of unity and working together and coexisting with other species really touched me. You could say that the world's only fairy Trekkie, outside of some centaurs, but, then again, I'm not exactly a fairy anymore, am I?"
Mysterium Tremendum
Alcaeus was staring out the window at the vast plains off the country when they reached the airport. After the cabbie parked, Alcaeus got out of the cabbie as quickly as he could and pried the back trunk open. He'd spent the entire trip contemplating the mystery of Titania and he'd been able to come up with no solution that wasn't completely insane. So instead of questioning it, he decided to just go with his gut feeling and keep all associates of Titania and the quiet cabbie driver as far away from his belongings and himself as possible, in case Titania should try to plant a bomb or something on him in case he doesn't like whatever her proposal should be. Alcaeus grabbed the only suitcase that he had brought, placed it on the ground, and rolled over to the cabbie driver and asked, "Thank you very much for the ride, do you mind telling me how much it is going to cost? It isn't much but I do have 20$ with me now, I'll pay the rest of it when I get home." Alcaeus stood facing the cabbie driver and held the bill out in his hand. Guest TheFinalFan
The cabbie simply drove away, not asking for a fee and not paying Alcaeus any attention, as a female voice announed "Oceanic Flight 815 to Washington, D.C., nonstop, is now boarding". Opal smiled as she got up and started to walk around the still-dumbstruck Artemis. "You know, with the ease it took to get n here, I could've easily put poison in your coffee, or rigged a deadly trap on the stairway, or just killed you right now by snapping your neck or hitting the right pressure points. But where would the fun be in that? I have something planned for not only you, but also Butler, Holly, Mulch, Foaly, Vinvaya, and anyone else who contributed to my demise. Something BIG. And there's nothing you can do to stop me."Opal headed for the door, but she turned back to Artemis. "By the way, I haven't broken out of confinement or left my foster parents. In fact, both versions of me are fast asleep."She then entered the shadowy dining room outside of the kitchen, and vanished.
Guest Merciful Idiot
Nexus suddenly smiled and left. "We shall see, Opal, we shall see." He took out a mini-holographic-touchable-computer, which was beeping, as soon as he was far enough from Opal. He then activated his super-satellite which proceeded to scan the world for Opal, technology yet to be invented. There were 5 results. One was standing right where he was, no duh, another was asleep, and that was the one he was speaking with earlier, and so was another, in a different place. Another was captive inside Atlantis, the one still being prepared to be sent back into the past, and the last was...at Fowl Manor? "I've confirmed Opal is still alive, and now I've used up my only battery supply to fuel the satellite. I assume the satellite is now, since it has no more use, falling towards the Pyramid of Giza, which should be able to confirm my theory that the Egyptians knew how to use magic if the pyramid survives the crash." He paused for a moment. "Meanwhile, time to follow Opal Number Two." He pressed a button on his suit, and his plasma jet packs, yeah, plasma jet packs, began activating. This was the method he used for traveling a huge distance, and he didn't care about being abnoncious and having headaches AND being hit by G-Force, the side-effects of using the jetpack, right now. And now he sped towards Fowl Manor, trying to ignore the headaches which is already taking place and the G-Force scratching at every non-covered part of his skin. Magnet Soldier
Artemis shook his head and looked down at his cup if coffee. "I must be getting lazy. She's got human and fairy tech. Put together she could easily break my defences. As soon as i'm sure this wasn't an hallucination, I'll go see butler about a better security system." Artemis decided, jumping out of the chair. He ran to his study to check on the laptop whether hallucinations could be so realistic, and the conditions for having them. Meanwhile, in a room totally covered by flashing screens and buttons, a pair of hands clapped together. A screen was lit brighter than the rest, and showed a red haired young girl exiting the Fowl manor. The owner of the hands laughed, and placed one hand on a box next to him. The box flashed once and vanished into the table. "Master." A voice whispered in the corner, obviously frightened. "Yes, Pixie?" THe figure in the chair asked. "Nexus is on his way to the Manor. Everything is going according to plan." The pixie explained. "Hmm. Good." He turned to face the screen showing Opal. "You need to see the bigger picture Ms Koboi. You and Artemis will be useful. After all, you two and that Centaur are the smartest people on and under the planet. Together you nearly rival my intelligent. To bad your ends will be soon." He chuckled. Guest TheFinalFan
The Opal Koboi that had left the Fowl Manor ran for a short ways until she reached a cliff, at which point she jumped from the edge and plummeted towards the ground. As she did so, she started to convulse, and dissolved into some sort of slime, which collided with the water and disintegrated, clothing and all. The Opal that was in Waynesville, however, was enjoying a pleasant dream as she slept with her earbuds in and hooked up to her iPod. ((Strange things are going on...)) Mysterium Tremendum
Alcaeus ran into the airport, gave the pass from the cabbie to the airport attendent and barely made it through airport security to catch the flight just in time. As he got on the plane, he gasped and hacked on the way in, Alcaeus was never much of an athlete and he hadn't done that much exercise in his life. He didn't even have time to grab a bite to eat or go to the bathroom which he hadn't done since before he got the e-mail. Alcaeus sat in his seat and silently raged that the cabbie had refused to give him enough time to properly prepare. To keep his mind occupied, Alcaeus once again began bitterly contemplating his situation, "I wonder what this Titania person will look like? They don't seem to be stupid or poor, so that could mean that they're some kind of higher-up corporate or government executives in fancy suits, bow ties, and long hair. The image of Titania being a high government official popped into his mind but Alcaeus expelled it. Many thoughts and questions arose within the span of an hour into the flight. Once again, Alcaeus was condemned to just gaze at the scenery outside the plane window, "I wonder if the other geniuses are having as much fun as I am?" Guest TheFinalFan
The Opal that had appeared to Artemis was very, very correct, except for one thing. The Opal residing in her Mid-Atlantic isolation cube at the bottom of the ocean was actually wide awake, scanning the headlines of the various news groups for any sign of her counterpart. She knew that another version of her was out there, but it had appeared that her present self had disappeared. But then, she got an email. She wasn't supposed to get an email.Foaly had specially designed the computer she was using so Opal couldn't use it for communication, with the exception of GnMail on Gnoogle. The program worked by preventing her from filling in any sort of information box, other than on Gnoogle and GnMail. That was mainly because Foaly had helped develop those programs based off of Google up on the surface. She opened the email, which simply said "Goodbye".Before Opal could comphrehand what that meant, her entire cube vanished into a quantum singularity, only to reappear 20 years earlier in the Koboi Labs shuttle bay. ArtemisFowl
Jecht and Ellorie arrived at the airport. The cab driver didn't ask for any kind of fee. Very strange. Jecht thought keeping Ellorie close to him. He didn't like this. Didn't like this one bit. The flight they were supposed to be getting on . . . or atleast what the email had said. The plane was going to be taking off soon. He asked the woman about getting some tickets and she just gave them to them, asking for no money in return. That didn't help Jecht's nerves. They went through the metal detectors and as Ellorie said none of his weapons set of the alarms. "C'mon let's go."
Guest Merciful Idiot
Nexus arrived at Fowl Manor. Artemis was surely in there, but he didn't know whether Opal was in there or not. Activating his shield and an undetectable suit, so that he doesn't appear on any radar or camera, he snuck into Fowl Manor. He had to tiptoe, as his suit doesn't save him from sound. One tiny sound, and it's all over. He just had to confirm whether Opal was in or not, then he'd blast his way out with his plasma jet-packs. For all he knew, Opal might have hijacked his satellite and gave him a false lead. But that was impossible. His technology was something even fairies couldn't comprehend, for now. His satellite is almost at the hemisphere, where it would continue to fall onto the Pyramid of Giza.
Magnet Soldier
"Well, well Nexus, trying to play cheeky." The voice said, watching the screen showing Opal's double. "Your technology is impressive though. But mine is better. So I wouldn't even bother Nexus." And the figure set off an alarm in the Fowl manor, awaking everyone in the building. "Hehehe. Now the game has begun." The figure laughed. THen he saw a screen showing a sattelite, falling onto egypt. "Impressive. Very impresive. And I'll allow that, seen as thow I did reveal you." Artemis, who was finally drifting of to sleep, was annoyed when the alarmed interupted his nap. But before he could do anything, his brothers umped into the kitchen. "Arty. The alarms gone off." Said one. "Yes, arty. Doesn't that mean there's an intruder?" The other one said. They were soon interupted by their Bodyguard, Nigel Butler. He wiped sleep from his eyes and grabbed his gun. "So, is this another fairy? They do seem to be popping up often." Nigel asked. He knew about the fairies as did the rest of the Butlers, and the Fowls. But, since his father was dead, Artemis could trust the rest of his family. He sighed and grabbed a kitchen knife. Nigel drew his gun, a Magnum Revolver. "So, fairy. Come out please. We know you're there." Artemis shouted, looking for the tell tale glimmer of a shielding.
Guest Merciful Idiot
"Why you daughter of a b-" He couldn't finish his sentence. The alarms set off. "D'Arvit." He ran across the house. "I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it, I knew it was a 'D'Arvit'ing trap. I knew it, I always had. But still..." He looked behind him. Artemis had already used his intelligence to spot his location. And he was using ordinary eyesight. Nexus had no choice, he would have to blast his way out with his plasma jet-pack. But he could wait. "Very smart, Artemis Fowl. But you were much better when you were seventy plus years old." Magnet Soldier
"Well, hello. I'll assume you're from the future, thatnks to that comment. Also, I'll assume you are a clone of Opal Koboi, as you resemble her. And that means opal really is free, and it wasn't an hallucination. I'd also like to say one thing. This wasn't a trap. You set off the alarm. And if you are a clone of Opal, then you should be smart enough not to. So why did you?" Artemis asked. Jeff was, as always when artemis talked, speechless. He was a similar age to artemis, but Artemis was faced with a seperate species and was talking to him like they were rivals in school, or friends turned enemies. Jeff was nervous to say anything to the fairy, as it was only two years ago since he had learnt of fairies, and the same time that the only fairy to visit had, Holly short. He could speak then and he couldn't now. "Jeff, go get an Earl grey for our friend here, and one for me." Artemis said, bringing Jeff back to the real world. "Yes, artemis." And Jeff walked off. Guest Merciful Idiot
"Screw that, you were a lot smarter when you were TEN. If you were TEN, then you could easily figure out why I'm here, why the alarm was set off, AND how I was set up. Use your brain, not logic. And I'm serious this time, Artemis Fowl." He paused for a moment. "Fine then, my name is Nexus Koboi, enhanced clone of Opal Koboi via thanatososis liquid, a substance yet to be discovered. But I'm different from any other clone. It took my creators twenty years to create me, me, the perfect clone of Opal, but everyone knows that females are ridiculously difficult to control, so they changed my gender during my creation, and accidentally my appearance as well, but my eyes retain their resemblance, as many have seen." He paused for yet another moment. "Opal may have superior technology to my location jammer, but the sound jammer of fifty years later is the most perfected version possible, leaving no sound within a 5-inch radius recordable, so they may hear you, but nobody can hear me." He then looked at Artemis again and then just shrugged. "But you never know these days. By the way, what's an Earl grey?"
Magnet Soldier
"If I was Ten, half of what I concluded then would not have been done, I would have been gobsmacked by you and My father would probably be trying to shoot you. And I dont need to hear your voice. All I need is to see your lips, and I have about twenty camera's already pointed at your Lips, aswell as one in my left shoe and one in my right nostril, aswell as an Iris cam. And if you do have a location Jammer, it's faulty, as my Iris-cam is working perfectly and is showing you." Artemis stated, placing the Knife in his hand on a nearby table. "And if I was ten, The alarm would not have detected you, as your shielding would have got past it fine. And set-up By whom? I didn't, and Opal Didn't as she was here a few minutes ago, and said nothing of you."
Guest Merciful Idiot
"Artemis, don't you remember the time you created a Time Paradox? Holly turned invisible with her shield, but your ten-year-old past self was smart enough to detect her by sharpening the camera, thus relieving him that she didn't turn invisible, just out of normal eyesight." Nexus paused for a moment. "Ah, stupid lip-reading. And I'm going to suppose Opal hacked and crashed my location jammer too. Let's just say this, I have detected at least five Opals running about in this world. Three of them are explainable, one is me, another is a real Opal, and the last is Opal from the past, ready to be mind-wiped and sent back into the past. But the last two are very, very strange. I detected them all by hacking the only suitable satellite in space out there, changing it's configurations, but it only had juice for one search. And I used it to search for other Opals. But right now, the satellite is on a course for the Pyramid of Giza, because I want to prove to your little brother Myles Fowl that Egyptians didn't have magic back then, I have a video camera stationed there. Ever since he discovered fairies, accidentally, he had paranoid thoughts, and your translation of 'The Book' only makes it worse."
