IC: Cayden wound through the streets of Diagon Alley, even though he was raised by a family who knew and tollerated magic it was still nice to see the crowds of robbed figures walking through the street. To hear the sounds of the wizarding community, the hoots of owls, old witches chatting about a wart-removal potion. The over-hearing of "Six sickles and a knut." comming from a near-by stand. Cayden was home. He moved off toward Flourish and Blotts where he would aquire his books for the year. He wondered what the new year would hold. Life at Hogwarts was always an adventure, and this year was bound to be no acception.

Alex looked at Flourish & Botts. He was wide-eyed, & wondering where all the things were. He then saw Cayden. "Hello, i'm Alex. I am a first-year half-blood. Could you show where a probably future Slytherin first year where to get Books, Wands, & a-" He started, but was interrupted by a cute little Siberian Husky jumped at his feet. "Nevermind about the pet. I'll keep this little guy. So, what is in the store? Uh, Flourish & Botts?"

"Urgh, do you have to wear that ridiculous necklace around your neck? It's so stupid, I hope it rusts and falls off," Krispin snapped at Eramine as they left the Leaky Cauldron, dashing ahead of her before she could swipe him. "Haha, slowpoke!" He blew a raspberry at her, and Eramine pulled out her bag of dead mice immediately. She gingerly threw a rat at him; in one swift and natural movement, he caught it with his mouth, giving Eramine the time to lunge and grab him. Furiously cursing her with a full mouth, Krispin tried to worm out of her arms, but was unable to.

Now that she had a firm grasp on him, Eramine lifted him off the ground and began to walk through Diagon Alley. She knew she was a strange sight indeed, and the passerbys' looks confirmed it. She was certain no-one had ever really gone through Diagon Alley holding a struggling Jarvey, with a bag full of dead rats and voles in one hand. She never really wanted to have Krispin with her, but her dad had refused to give her another pet, claiming he only would when Krispin died. Until then, she was stuck with him.

"Put me down, you-" Before Krispin could finish, Eramine had taken a sharp turn into Flourish and Blotts, where two other students were. She gave a somewhat embarassed nod to the store owner, before shuffling over into a corner to put down Krispin. Ignoring his usual steam of rude comments, she stowed his raw food away, before giving him a sharp telling off.

Cayden looked down at the brash 10-year old before him. "Kid you don't really wanna be in Slitheryn." He contemplated this for a moment. This guy didn't seem like Slytherine matierial. "you'll be surounded by all the cheats and low lives in Hogwarts!" You wanna aim for Gryffindore or Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw's alright too but they all thend to be a little snappy and put a lot of importance on smarts." Cayden's soft voice and Welsh accent combined with the harshness in his tone when registering his distain for the Slytherines made for a very interesting sound. "Still, Flourish and Blotts isn't far down the road, I was just heading there myself, Come with me if you want." With that Cayden wound his way through the crowds of people. taking a free copy of the Quibbler from a woman in her late 20s with dirty blonde hair, as he passed her. He thanked her graciously and before he knew it the store was in sight. He had another interest there too. The Magic of Music by Strumeldra Goodcord.

OoC: Goodnight.

"My mother was a Slytherin, but i'm hoping of Ravenclaw. I won't be snappy, but I do strive for smarts." He told Cayden. "Tamia Ryder ring a bell? I am her son, & two, there's one book she told me to look for: The Magic of Illusions, also The Magic of Music, both by Strumeldra Goodcord." He also grabbed a Quibbler, & petted the dog right by him. "And the Magic of Illusions also has great pets to have: It's also called "Pets 101"." He looked at Cayden, who Alex seemed to know what school he was from. "You from Hufflepuff?"

Jared arrived in Diagon Alley, staring around at the shops. Some new ones had gone up since the last time he'd been here, including an ice cream shop. "Nice to see Fortescue's back open," his mother said, continuing to walk down the street. "It's a shame it wasn't open last year, huh?"

Jared kept walking after his mother, and then entered the wide marble halls of Gringotts. "Yes, we'd like to make a withdrawal. Here's the key to our family vault."

Jared's grandfather had been an Auror, and a high-paid one at that, responsible for capturing many of the Death Eaters in the First War, which meant they'd have a stocked vault for a while. He would only need a couple of Galleons and Sickles for his schoolbooks, which included an Advanced Arithmancy by T. H. Flint, a highly recommended book for anyone in Arithmancy. Jared, personally, found the class horribly boring, but it was easier for him then Ancient Runes.

Jecht walked through the crowd of wizards holding Yin, in his arms. He had yet to change into his robes so he was wearing a black shirt, with a colorful design of japanese characters. Along with his black hoodie, and jeans. He looked at his list of materials for the next year at Hogwarts. Then he heard someone say something about Slytherin. He looked up from his list to see two students. One wasn't talking to politely about Slytherin. "Excuse me?! How do you know we're cheats? You're so predjudice against us you don't get to know anyone of us. You accomatically assume we're the worst of the worst!"

Luvia was walking down Diagon Ally with Kristopher, her uncle, who were carrying all of her new books they just purchaced. "Unlce I think that's everything I needed." She turned around and saw her uncle was laging behind carring loads of books. She almost laughed at the look on his face.

"You think!? My arms are about to fall off, and you THINK this is everything?" Kris whined, before pouting. "And what did I tell you? Uncle sounds too old, call me bro or something." Luvia shook her head, but smiled, "You got it. Why don't you take them home?"

She was expecting him to walk away, but instead he reached for his wand and waved it, making all of the stuff vanish. "Really? You could've done that earlier and spared my ears the whining." Luvia said.

Kris shrugged, "Well I didn't think about it. Hey I have to get something, you'll be fine on your own right?" Before she could answer he was gone in the crowd. Luvia turned around and continued walking. She then heard some yelling and she recognized the voice belonging to Jecht, a Slytherin 5th year like herself. Being curious she walked over, and noticed he was yelling at two others. One looked like a 1st year, maybe 2nd year, and the other a 5th. She recognized the 5th year. His name was Cyden and in Hufflepuff.

"So what's all the hubba about, boys?"

Once Jared had picked up his remaining schoolbooks and refitted his robes at Madam Malkin's robe shop, he headed to the ice cream parlor. "It's nice to be able to relax, a few days before classes start on Monday. A few days at school to get acquainted."

Jared leaned his head back and looked up at the sky. This was O.W.L. year for him and the the other fifth year students, which meant constant studying and tons of homework, according to his older brother, Brian, who had graduated N.E.W.T. for Auror-required classes. In fact, Jared thought to himself, isn't Brian supposed to be here this week? You know, farewells and all that to me?

Sarah exited the building she lived in. She's sooo unfair, she thought. Her mom had told her that she had to shop for books. I have like, 2 days left! why should I have to shop today? She was wearing pink wizarding robes. Her hair was let down, and flowed to about her shoulders. Her pockets were bulging from the wizarding money inside. Her parents had also said she could spend a few Galleons on herself, but only when she was done shopping.

Sarah checked her list. Flourish and Blotts for books, I think. she thought to herself. She headed of in the direction, skipping quickly.

Nick went down Diagon Alley ready to get his stuff for his 5th year at Hogwarts. He was alone. His family was all at work and all that. He was given his money and was sent to Diagon Alley without a peep. As he was walking up he saw Luvia. She was a Slytherin. She was with her uncle. Just then her uncle left and Luvia went over to Cyden in Hufflepuff. Nick was about to go over to Luvia, but I guess she was interested in the noise from the other guys. Nick went over anyway. "Hey Luvia. What's up. I got ditched by my family. They're all at work. You know since I'm the youngest. Anyway. What are the stuff we have to get. I forgot my list and I'm to lazy to go back to my house. Besides. There's probably a fight happening so I don't want to get involved."

Luvia glanced at Nick who stopped next to her. He asked her about the stuff needed, and decided to answer him while waiting for the other three to answer her question. "Well, Nick what do you have so far? I'm sure I could tell you what you need, if I knw what you have." She said smiling lightly at the 5th year Slytherin next to her. I wonder where my Uncle ran off too. I hope he didn't get lost....He's so clueless sometimes.

She arrived at the bookstore and pulled out her book list. She handed the shopkeeper a few gold galleons and took her books away. As she exited the store, she noticed a scuffle involving a few Hogwarts kids she recognized. She skipped over happily and said, "Hey guys! What's up?" Her voice was almost sing-song. She pushed her hair behind her ears and smiled brightly, revealing a perfect set of upper and lower teeth.

Alex stared at the girl with the book list. He held his, scared. "Hello. I'm Alex, son of the Slytherin Tamia Ryder. I am a first year here at Hogwarts." He said to both Luvia & Sarah. He smiled. "Weirdly, I want to be a Ravenclaw or Slytherin. Slytherin, family school. Ravenclaw, my qualities fit. I am looking for The Magics of Music & Illusions. Two different books. So, what are your names? And do you even know who that person I said is?" He explained, petting his new dog. "I'll call you...Tiger."

"No idea. My name's Sarah by the way. Sarah Lovegood. That your dog? I've seen him around before. Lovely animal." Sarah smiled as she said this. The dog was a local stray, and had never had an owner. "I hope you take good care of him, he deserves it. I'm in Ravenclaw, by the way. Just got my books," she indicated her bags, "and now I'm off to get some potions ingredients." She then said hi to the rest of the group and got on her way.

Noticing that more students had arrived at Flourish and Botts, Eramine approached them, still holding Krispin firmly in her arms. By now, he had managed to swallow the rat, and it was taking Eramine's hand to hold his jaw together. Recognising Sarah, Eramine gave a friendly nod to her, before turning her attention to the rest of the group.

"Hi, I'm Eramine Goodwin," she began, nodding to each person in turn, whilst further clamping Krispin against her. "I'm a Fifth Year Gryffindor ... speaking of which, I need to get some books. Erm..." She looked down at the Jarvey, then up again at the store owner. She would have to put Krispin down somehow... "Can someone hold onto Krispin for me? Don't let him escape, or talk; he'll be a nightmare if you do."

Jared got up, remembering the Apothecary was supposed to be his last stop of the day, before heading back to his room in the Leaky Cauldron. He started running, hoping to get their before all the top-shelf ingredients were gone. At the door, he bumped into Sarah Lovegood, a fellow Ravenclaw fifth year.

"Good afternoon, Sarah," Jared said, waving and smiling, "Are you going to continue Potions after the year is over?"

"I'm Luvia Bloodmire." Luvia said to alex after Sarah said her piece. "I'm a 5th year Slytherin." She smiled sweetly at the boy, before hearing another girl come up. She introduced herself as Eramine Goodwin, a Gryffindor 5th year. That in itself almost made her cringe on instinct but she smiled. "Well I don't mind holding your dog for you. I love dogs." She said before looking at her watch. Bleh, it's about time to go. Where is that silly Uncle of mine?

"I'm Jecht. Jecht Kyne." Jecht said to the others. "I'm also in my fifth year of being a Slytherin." He said smiling proudly. "Well, I guess I better get started on this list." He said looking at the list in his hand. Jecht dipped his head in a bow, before heading to the bookstore, Flourish and Blotts. He entered the store of wizarding spellbooks, guides, and many other books. He was greeted by the owner and Jecht nodded in response. "Morning." He murmered and went to find the books he needed for this year. No matter what year, every year the books seemed to get heavier and larger. He set down Yin to carry his books and she meowed in protest and skulked about his feet, wanting to be picked up again.

"Okay, Luvia." He said, rubbing Tiger & speaking. "Don't worry, she is a nice person." Tiger started to calm down as he handed him to Luvia. "I'll be back!" He ran inside. He was greeted by the owner. "Uh, i'm a first year." Alex was given a tour as he grabbed his books while they go. Eventually, he got to the end. "Thanks!" He waved to him as he left. "Such a nice guy," He thought. "Shame he's alone now. He could be way happier if his old friend was still here." He sighed, & turned to Luvia. "So, was he any trouble?"

Cayden wandered about, collecting books and crossing them off his list. He made his way to the counter, still only having found half of his books, clearly the book he was after was of great importance to him. The line was long, but there was a second witch behind the counter, she was taller, thinner, and seemed more talkative then her co-worker, he approached her. "Excuse me, Ma'am, would you be able to tell me where I might find a copy of The Magic of Music by Strumelda Goodcord." The woman smiled brightly.

"Ah, you're interested in using magic in conjunction with muggle instruments, then? You'll find it about half way down that asile at about your head's height." Cayden thanked the woman and headed off down the asile, noticing a few students. including the 'Future-Slytherin' kid as he called himself earlier. He was talking to a very pretty girl who Cayden recognised from previous years and from long before school at Hogwarts when his mother used to take him to Diagon Alley for a 'taste of magical culture'. They'd first met when they were both seven or so years old, although thier meetings had been brief before they'd reached Hogwarts. He realised he was staring at the girl, hoping she hadn't noticed he turned away quickly and almost bumped his nose straight into the book he'd been looking for, carefully removing it from the shelf and adding it to the pile, before returning to his school shopping.

Luvia took the dog, which was weirdly named Tiger, but she wasn't going to argue with the boys choice. She smiled and picked up Tiger, and held him up to her face. "Well hello there, your a pretty little dog." She scratched the back of his ears, before putting him down. It wasn't too long when Alex came back out with his stuff, and asked if he was a handfull. Luvia shook her head, "Naw, not at all. He was a little sweety pie." She smiled at the 1st year. "Well I gotta go, find my un-I mean my big brother. Hopefully I'll see you in Slytherin, Alex. See ya at school Ject." Luvia nodded to the others that were there before leaving.

"Naturally. Also gonna take Transfigurations, DADA, CoMC and Charms. I might try for Herbology too." She wasn't really sure what she wanted to do wit her life, but she knew what courses she enjoyed and planned only to take those NEWTS. "So, Jared, longtime no see. Changed you mind on what you were planning on studying at NEWT level? Or is it still... What was it again?" Sarah's memory wasn't the best, or even anywhere near the best.

Cayden finished up collecting his books and jumped into the long line of Hogwarts students and other patrons. he recognised a few faces, but no one who really interested him. He looked back and saw that Sarah, they were entering the same year. Cayden wondered how much he'd see of her, they were probably taking rather different subjects this year, but then again. Charms and Care for Magical Creatures were his personal favorites and he expected that she would be there, if not in any other classess of his.

"Next." The word didn't register in Cayden's mind at first. "Next please." Cayden started to turn slowly. "Just hurry up!" Shouted the shorter and more ugly of the two witches behind the counter. "Okay! Okay!" Cayden replied iritably, plonking his large pile of books onto the counter awkwardly. a few moments later, a pile of Gold, silver, and bronze replaced the books and Cayden began to walk out of the store, this was all he needed to buy, he still had more gold though, what would he spend it on. As he made his way out of the store he stopped for a moment and gave a wave to Sarah not wanting to interupt her conversation by speaking to her.

Waking up Clear rubbed her eyes, as the sunlight poured in from the open blinds, near blinding her still sleep encrusted eyes. Dressing in a clean set of robes she sighed noticing a small rip, Clear picked up her wand and the small handful of sickles that she had left from yesterday. Before heading to the door to leave, Clear carefully picked up the small ball of sleeping grey fur from her bed. "Come on, Drizzle, we're late." she sighed placing the yawning rat into her pocket carefuly. Heading out of the room, she shut the door behind her and made her way out of the Leaky Cauldren. Stepping out into the crisp air, Clear pulled her robes intowards her body to keep her warm and started walking.

Clear climbed the steps to Gringotts and pushed the door open, the air inside warm and inviting compaired to that outside.
