There will be a massive earthquake that gives a massive power outage, thus "stalling" the tournament, causing the characters to get to know each other better, and stick together to survive the Ordo Everto.

The earthquake can stop in five posts; they're brief things, most of the damage is when the structures hold up during the actual quake and collapse after from stress. That, and the aftershocks.
