Easy way to make holographic effect.

Recommended Posts

Hello all, this is my first post here and I would like to post a tutorial.

First, you will need photoshop or any image-editing software with the sharpen tool. In photoshop it is in Filter=>sharpen.

First, get any yu-gi-oh card. For this tutorial I will use this one:

So, first, select the area of the card which shows the picture of it, or the whole thing if you want it all to be holo. In Photoshop, it is called the rectangular marquee tool and looks like a dotted box.

Then, sharpen the image. For Photoshop (which is the only image-editing software I currently have), select Filter => Sharpen => Smart Sharpen and choose these settings:

Click OK. Your card will now look something like this!:

You can feel free to fiddle around with the settings to get the desired effect. This isn't as good as some overlays out there, but it's good at a pinch.

Hope you like this,
