Overdrive Teleporter is my favorite Psychic-type monster, but the big problem with it is the lack of Level 3 Psychics. The only ones we have are Psychic Commander and Mind Protector. One thought led to another, and eventually Psionic Splitter came to be.

It's a nice target for Overdrive, and will probably make many OTKs with Mind Master but, other than the OTKs it might make, I think the opening clause simply hurts it too much. I might be wrong though.

Had I left out the first clause, this card would become a ridiculous advantage generator along with Mind Master and Brain Research Lab. It would essentially set up the Mind Master Spam OTK by itself.

It would, but setting up Mind Master Spam OTK still seems to be its only use. Making it 2 level 2 psychics or some 'except Mind Master' clause and removing the first clause seems needed - an inconsistent OTK card isn't much better than a consistent one, neither are very fun =/

Overdrive Teleporter

Brain Research Lab

 

Activate Lab.

Normal Summon Dave.

Tribute Dave for Overdrive Teleporter. (Lab gets 1 counter.)

Activate Overdrive's effect (2 counters on Lab)

Special Summon two Psionic Splitter.

Activate their effects.

Special Summon Psychic Jumper, Krebons and 2x Doctor Cranium.

Synchro Krebons, Cranium and Overdrive into Hyper Psychic Blaster.

Use Jumper's effect. (3 Counters) Take control of any monster your opponent controls, and give them the other Doctor Cranium.

Synchro Jumper and the monster you just stole into anything.

 

You now have Hyper Psychic Gunner and another Synchro, depending on what monster your opponent had. If your opponent didn't have any face-up monster, replace the second Doctor Cranium with Mind Master. Tribute the Jumper to bring out a Level 4 Psychic Monster and Synchro into Magical Android.

 

*Dave is any generic Level 4 or lower monster that can be Normal Summoned without any special requirements.

 

Just one of the many things you can do. Everything doesn't have to be OTK's.

I get that, but it really makes Overdrive feel like the only use, which was why it felt too inconsistent outside of the OTK.

 

Of course, I don't know every card that supports this off the top of my head, so there might be a lot I'm forgetting that would be worthwhile to use.

It's basically Overdrive and Mind Master. I've noticed that this card allows you to swarm with Mind Master to the point of ridiculousness; just one copy of this can turn into three LV1's, which Mind Master can turn into three Level 4's.

 

I could replace the first clause with "To Normal Summon or Set this card, you must pay X Life Points", if it'd be better.

If a card supports an OTK, that's all it's going to be looked at for. That's, like, basic fact.

 

"It can do other things besides OTK!"

 

"Tell that to other cards on the banlist."

 

If "except Mind Master" was here, it'd be a wonderful thing. Just.. he's a little bugger in many plans. Bring in Doctor Cranium as your level 1, he isn't hurting anything with his oversized head. ):

 

The press for supporting Overdrive Teleporter is totally cool, but when it can do something crazy, that's what it's going to be doing most.

 

Telekinetic Power Well would engage mad sexy with this. <_<

Adding an "except 'Mind Master'" clause wouldn't make any sense, though. Adding a non-Tuner clause would make this card borderline ineffectual.
