Super Mario Galaxy 2

Yeah... so, World 4 Castle was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. It was so easy, although a speedrun of it would be fun.

World 5 looks... intense. The first galaxy totally screwed me over because I suck at Bob-Omb directing. :/

71 Stars atm.

Space Storm is all about directing stuff everywhere.

Also,

Buoy Base from the first game is the second mission, but it's sped up.

I personally think it's annoying.

Is it just me or are Piantas in like every Mario platformer game not named Mario 64?

Piantas are those guys from SMS' date=' right? They weren't in SMG1.

[/quote']

ohokay

Well, I've seen Piantas in like three platformer games already; SMS, SMG2 and one other one whose name escapes me.

The gameplay of Super Mario Galaxy 2 is similar to the first Super Mario Galaxy' date=' with an emphasis on platform based on and around 3D planets with different sizes and landscapes. The planets are smaller, allowing the player to jump from planet to planet more often.

Duh...

Have anyone tried the Extra Life glitch in Supermassive Galaxy?

Yes' date=' and it does work. You just need to get the timing right so you don't hit the Koopa's head and take damage and fall.

Me and my friend found that by ourselves while playing, we tried to get the Green Star. It was easy getting them with 2 players.

I haven't played in awhile, but now I'm deathly scared of an oncoming Star from YouTube spoilers.

It's Purple Coins in that Rainbow Road level. And god, they give you almost no room for error.

EDIT: Huuuuuge update. Because I have less than 120 Stars, everything I say assumes that I am disregarding Green Stars.

I have 95 Stars atm, and am two Galaxies into World 6.

I have completed Worlds 1, 2, 3, and 4. I am about to complete World 5, if the damn birdies would call me for Fleet Glide Galaxy racing. I am two full Galaxies into World 6, those being Melty Molten and Clockwork.

I've got to say... Clockwork Galaxy's Comet Coin pissed the hell out of me. Maybe I was doing it wrong, but it took eight tries and at least three deaths. <_____<

I have a few minutes before I leave, so I have time to make this single poast.

105 Stars; I got 10 Stars within the span of an hour or eighty minutes.

I am done with Worlds 1 through 5, and almost done with World 6. The three Stars that I am missing before the Special World are Slimy Spring Comet (or Chimp Challenge), Bowser's GG, and Bowser's GG Comet.

At this point (in Super Mario 64), I'd be very happy. But I know that I have a long way to go. How long do all 120 Green Stars take? Because if you say less than eight hours, I'll devote a single day to getting all or most of them.

On that note, I jizzed when I saw Throwback Galaxy. Not only the music, but it was almost direct copy/pasta + edit. Oh, and the boss had the same text as in Super Mario 64. I like Nintendo.

I liked that one for some reason. I don't know why, but I'm good with the ball levels. I think it only took me 2 or 3 tries to get that star.

That one took me a long time. I died a lot more then 8 times. In fact it was one of my last stars.

I'd say 12 hours maybe. If you know where they are you can get the bulk of them really fast. You just need to look and listen.

Yea, I loved that level too. They need to do that more often.

I lied; 106 Stars. Just beat the Final Boss, and damn that easy. But his second phase was really fun, tbqh. I'd like to see more of that in games, but obviously not for a final boss. =)

The Speed Run for GG seems fairly straightfoward, although I'm probably going to take a shortcut during the Bullet Bill run. Good thing it isn't a Daredevil Speed Run. ;D

Firey Gobblegut was not as hard as people said. Seriously, you just need to watch where you are going (which is tough, tbqh), and hit his "balls" at the right time.

The ending sequence was awesome.

I was scared it would be.

118 Stars, and the last two are literally impossible for me to get. I have year and years of platforming experience, but those do not work. Because one of them rushes me, which I do not like, and the other one is timed, which I do not like. And rushing me and being timed is the same damn thing.

They are the Stone Cyclone Comet and the Boss Blitz Comet. The former I can attempt to do with the trippy glitch long-jump, but the latter is impossible. I suck badly at beating Boldergeist, or whatever. It takes me more than five minutes just to beat him. And it took me at least twenty deaths to beat Fiery Dino Pirannha. :/

Here's a story. My first Star today was Bowser's GG Speed Run. I had 99 Lives when starting. My last Star today was Rainbow Road's Purple Coins. I had 58 Lives when ending. That's a net loss of 41 Lives, not counting 1-Ups. Meaning if I grabbed a 1-Up in a level, that becomes a loss of 42 Lives (or 42 deaths, really), and then 43, 44, etc.

Another story. First time I did Rainbow Road's Purple Coins, I got 99. I was pissed. Did it again, I got 102. With like 10 seconds left, so that was an awesome run.

I did both the cyclone stone and boss blitz speed run on my first try. The cyclone stone is really easy since you don't have to worry about silver stars, and the boss blitz requires some general luck as Fiery Dino Piranha is a major ass-kicker. Just beat all the other bosses really quickly so you have around two minutes to face Fiery Dino Piranha

Well, screw that, now. Cyclone Stone was easy, I did it in two lives. There were so many shortcuts that you could take, and the time clocks were spread out well enough. I beat the level with at least seven seconds left on my clock, so it was generally easy. I don't know why I was scared (I didn't attempt the level beforehand), but I pushed it away until I actually sat down and tried it. Yeah, two lives. Not bad.

For the speed run, I basically set aside five lives to figure out how the hell I want to approach these bosses. Dino was fine, King Kaliente was fine, the Mole thing was okay. I did worse on the Mole thing during the normal run, but did a lot better during the speed run. So, that was cool. Skipping ahead, Firey Dino was fine, although I did die twice from losing three hits, because the fire is so damn hard to avoid, and during his third hit, he is annoying.

But going back, Bouldergeist. Best. Speedrun. Tactic. Ever. Just shoot a starbit at the black rocks, go up close, spin the Boo, hit him. You can even do that when he has his hands up; you just have to make sure the Boo doesn't hit a rock. Seriously, you can beat Bouldergeist in 90 seconds with that tactic. But yeah, got the Star in, eh, about eight lives. Ten lives for two Stars, not bad.

I'm doing the Green Stars in order. Have three Galaxies done; Sky Station, Yoshi Star, the flippy level in World 1 (forgot the name). As such, I have 128 Stars. Cool beans.

I claim that double posting is fine if you gain 100 Stars over the span of 2.5 days. Yeah, so guess what I did while YCM was down? Play Galaxy 2. I made like a bunch of notes, so beware: this post is looong.

Starting off, I am currently at 241 Stars. Yeah, I went from 128 to 241 within the span of 2.5 days.

Yesterday I was at 238, but then today I got off my ass (or rather, on my ass) and got those last three Stars (the two Green Stars were both from Galaxy Generator).

I did some quicky math yesterday, and I got 118 Green Stars in around 10.5 hours*, looking at my Wii play history. So, for all 120, I would say around 11, maybe less if you weren't an idiot for some Stars like I was. Seriously, some Stars took me 10 minutes; others took me thirty seconds. Also, I am happy to say that I only had to YouTube three Stars, and not even for the locations. Just for how I'm supposed to get them. =)

*Approximately 11.2 per hour.

So, moving onto when I had 240 Stars. I had around 7500 Star Bits, so I quickly grinded for the rest before I started Grandmaster. It took me a total of four deaths to beat The Ultimate Test. Yeah, four. And three of those deaths were on Part 1, because I was an idiot and tried to rush Yoshi and got hit by the bombs. The fourth death was in Part 4, where I accidentally ground pounded as opposed to long jumping. ZA versus AZ; so annoying.

Also, I was able to nab the Comet Coin on that fifth runthrough, so that was cool.

Now, onto The Perfect Run. TOTAL DEATH COUNT FOR THE PERFECT RUN: 45, 7/28 @ 5:22 PM.

Okay, so here are my capabilities. I can get past Parts 1, 2, and 3 without any problem. I can get to Part 4 with two Cloud Flowers; I have no idea how to get three. Part 4 screwed me over so many times; it is more luck based on when you land on a platform considering when the enemies shoot out their lasers.

On my 32nd attempt, I was able to get to Part 6. I made it to the Boomerang Bros., but a mistimed spin cost me my life. But seeing as I did get to Part 6, that boosted my morale a lot.

The level is not as hard as I originally would have thought, and Part 6 is fairly easy as long as a hammer doesn't pop out of nowhere.

Imo, easiest to hardest would be 2, 3, 5, 1, 6, 4.

I can just imagine the feeling of pure disbelief and joy once you get that 242nd Star. Because, think about it, you are never required to do that ever again. =)

Do you think it's a good idea to practice Part 4 in The Ultimate Test? Because there is a checkpoint, I just won't have Cloud Mario's physics to experiment with.

Still haven't gone for the last star. I want to have a second player to help stop things and just make my life easier. I know I can get it on my own if I played long enough (i think it took me any where from 10 to 20 lives to get to the last part) so I can do it alone, but I'd rather have help.

As for what I think is hardest (order is hardest to easiest): 4, 6, 5/2, 1, 3.
