Task Force 181

" Nuclear Tactics"

20 minutes into the mission and Task Force 181 is already in hell." We are being under siege I repeat we are being under siege! F*CK Sandstorm create a diversion!" Donovan was shouting in his communicator, " Task Force 242 We need backup! Sandro man the SAW." There was gun shots in the background, shouting all hell in Eastern Russia. Donovan clipped off his grenade and threw it behind a bench and hostiles flew.

20 minutes Earlier

Task Force 181 was riding in a Helicopter going to Eastern Russia. " Ok 181, we are going to Eastern Russia to disable a nuclear bomb, that Task Force 626 was unable to accomplish, now we go down there, defuse the bomb and get out of there alive I don't want anyone to screw up, got it? Alright, now lets go kick some ass. The helicopter landed in the woodland and Donovan started leading, he put his hand up in the shape of a fist meaning Regroup on me. up ahead was a barren village. There mission was to clear the village, go to the nearby mountain where the M-11 Missiles were located and disable them. " Ok I want Ghost, Sandro, and Longshot to fire from that Chapel, Longshot get on top of the roof and give us some support when we need it. Myself, Sandstorm, and Viper, will head to that house and take down as much hostiles as possible, are we clear? Head out Task Force 181!" The teams ran to their desired designation and got in position then a hammering 40 hostiles came running through the streets, for every 5 men there was 1 RPG. " What the F*Ck is going on there not suppose to know we are here yet!" An RPG missle hit the roof of the Chapel and almost knocked off Longshot. Donovan put his finger on his ear, " Longshot, Viper, take out those RPGS. " Donovan mounted the SAW and started firing blindly, Donovan quickly dismounted right after a bullet flew past his head. Donovan put his finger on his ear, " Sandro, Ghost Advance, stay here Sandstorm. Donovan ran downstairs outside of the house and took cover behind a destroyed car.

Fatal ran to catch up with Donovan, keeping his head down. Bullets flew everywhere overhead. "Uhh, Captin Donovan sir, what am i expected to do, sit this one out?" Before Donovan could reply Fatal spoke again, "And 242 only has 2 active members! What backup can they possibly give?" As Fatal finished screaming, above the car they were ducked behind hovered a small heli. One of the 242 soldiers was manning the turret, and the other firing at will. Alone, the two aboard the heli wiped about 15 hostiles. "Nevermind.", Fatal said with a massive grin.

Cpt. Donovan threw a stun grenade that stunned 2 hostiles, Donovan shot at the hostiles blindly, the remainder of them fell back to the cave. Donovan looked at Cpt. Slash shook his hand and smiled, " Slash you bloody bastard, that was an amazing entrance." Donovan put his finger on his ear, " Regroup on me squad, we need a game plan." Cpt. Donovan patted Fatal on the shoulder, " Never underestimate 282."

They regrouped in a small storage shed near the mountain entrance. " They'll be expecting us, so there are 2 entrances Left side and in the front, so Fatal, Viper, Sandro, Sandstorm, I want you to create a diversion in the front entrance, we'll come around and take them out. Cpt. Slash, your with me and Viper. Longshot, hang back or help the diversion squad your choice. Good luck team." Donovan, Slash, and Viper hung back until he heard gun shots waited until the guards ran to back up the other guards. " Lets go boys."

Fatal rummaged through the large shed a bit while he awaited orders to move in for diversion. He strung his M16A4 to his back, and grabbed the large shovel near the door. On the shelf where the shovel leaned, he snatched the roll of blue tap. "This should be fun." He grabbed 2 of his semtex and stuck them onto the shovel. "Anybody got another 'nade they'll spare?" One of the soldiers tossed him a frag, and he taped it to the head of the shovel. "Alright, i'm ready."

Donovan put his finger on his ear, " What the hell are you still doing in the shed?" Donovan took out his .44 Magnums he put his hand up as if he was raising is hand for a question, " Hold up." Donovan looked over the corner there was a Juggernaut right in front of them with his back turned. Donovan put his finger on his ear, " Guys we got a Juggernaut but I think we can get him his back is turned, on my signal we turn the corner and shoot at his head are we clear?"

2nd Lt Sandro didn't like the heli they were in.

The NH-90 Stealth Chopper, courtesy of his former team in SAS, was as a rule ideal for covert transport into hostile territory. However, it was nevertheless too big for his taste, especially as they are hovering close to the Russian coniferous woodlands below, and as such too visible.

Sandro sighed. It can't be helped, he thought, not with this 7-man team. An unconventional number perhaps, but 181 and 242 was not conventional special forces, not in Sandro's eyes anyway. Consisting of the best soldiers, marksmen and above all, survivalists in the world, Sandro could feel the pressure of living up to their expectations; especially since he is, by far, the newest team member on board, although not the youngest. In fact, other than small skirmishes and training exercises, this was his first real mission as a 181 member.

Through his dark tinted-visors, Sandro could see team 242, amazingly consisting of only 2 active members to date, hovering around in the smaller Apache chopper. Their role was to provide air support for 181, while providing ground support if everything should go to hell. A failsafe, in other words, though what support could they provide with 2 members is still something Sandro have not experienced.

It was in the early mornings, just after dawn, that the their chopper finally landed on a clearing in the woodlands; a few klicks from a nearby seemingly abandoned village. Capt Donovan led the team to the village, issuing orders with sharp precision and tactical forethought.

"Ok, I want Ghost, Sandro, and Longshot to fire from that Chapel," The Captain's voice buzzed in Sandro's left ear, and Sandro eyed the easily tallest building in the village. The high ground, good call. The three black-clad commandos took position within the chapel, with Longshot immediately positioning himself on the roof.

And then an RPG was fired.

The explosion to the chapel took Sandro completely off-guard, before the local militia began to pour out of every conceivable hiding place in the village, shouting a thousand blasphemies, curses, and frantic orders. RPGs, bullets, and shrapnel began flying everywhere, even as Sandro ducked beneath a window in the chapel, its glass long broken by a hail of AK-47 bullets. This operation has gone to hell.

F*ck.

Sandro popped back up and fired his FN-P90 in controlled burst, aiming foremost at the closest hostiles. The 50 bullets-clip was an immense advantage for sustained fire support, while retaining the accuracy of an assault rifle, and Sandro thanked god that he chose the right weapon for this situation. If he took a shotgun he'll be screwed.

The RPG-wielding horde began to be picked clean one-by-one, and Sandro realized that Viper and Longshot were targeting them with uncanny accuracy. That's the snipers for you, Sandro thought, even as a fist-sized hole from Viper's Barrett 50 Cal. bullet was driven into the head of an RPG goon.

Sandro's left ear buzzed again, "Sandro, Ghost, advance." Sandro fired 2 burst to down two tangoes on his right, before vaulting over the window pane and dashing to his left, bullets hitting a few feet from his behind. Sliding into a waist-high rock fence extending from a house facing the main square of the village for cover, Sandro popped up and fired a few more burst, witnessing first-hand the sheer number of hostiles in the square firing in all directions.

Our numbers are few, but we managed to surround them. Good. Sandro could hear Captain Donovan callng for support from 242, before he himself was being ordered to mount the SAW. Sandro reloaded and eyed the SAW that was on a pickup to his left, its occupant a victim of Longshot's Intervention long before.

Sandro threw a grenade at the hostiles to his right, before immediately running to the pickup, climbing the back of the truck, and sprayed bullets to the middle of the square, where the bulk of the hostiles are. Immediately overhead, 242's Apache circled overhead and poured death from above on the opposite side of square, making the village square a death-trap for the hostiles.

These people were militia, lacking training and experience, thank god. Must be local mercenaries on a payroll. Sandro deduced, while at the same time admiring the 242's combat-effectiveness. Between them and Sandro, the bulk of the enemy forces were almost wiped out, and the remaining handful were retreating to the mountains.

"Regroup on me squad, we need a game plan." The captain's voice crackled. Sandro left the pickup, the SAW barrel still smoking, and jogged to the shed where the rest of the team gathered. 242, Sandro noticed, have joined their team. A rare circumstance, he thought, but he wouldn't know. His first mission and already it's gone to hell.

No visible injuries, Sandro thought, shaking his head and smiling, they're really good. Capt Donovan gave his plan, "They'll be expecting us, so there are 2 entrances. Left side and in the front, so Fatal, Viper, Sandro, Sandstorm, I want you to create a diversion in the front entrance, we'll come around and take them out. Cpt. Slash, you're with me and Viper. Longshot, hang back or help the diversion squad your choice. Good luck team."

Sandro nodded an "Alright." and the team headed for their respective positions. Sandro, however, stopped when Fatal asked for a grenade. An eyebrow raised, Sandro unclipped one of his grenade on his waist and tossed it to Fatal, who caught it expertly and began tying it to a shovel.

What the hell? Sandro shook his head, but didn't comment, as the four-man team headed to the front entrance, ready to give a diversion.

OoC: 626... Are you attempting to continue on from Nuclear Warfare? Since that was also the mission we failed...

IC: Kaij went first, USP at hand, since he was the guy with the quickest reflexes. As he entered the shack, he noticed a hostile, and ran up to take him out. But apparently the hostile had noticed him, as he was greeted with an elbow to the ribs and the sound of a gun being pulled. But luckily, Kaij was quicker, and managed to pull his knife, and actually sliced off 2 of his fingers. As the guard wa sin pain, Kaij grabbed his head, and forced it down into his now upswinging knee. Blood and what looked like bone flew all over the place. As the hostile fell to the floor, Kaij picked up his USP, which he had dropped after the ambush. Apparently, it seemed he had enough bullets, seeing as he emptied 2 into the skull of what looked like an already dead enemy. "We're clear." he signalled to Sandro and the others.

As the group left the shack in hopes of working out there diversion, a full suited Juggernaut with an AUG in hand blitzed the group. Fatal hadn't left the doorway of the shack yet. Am i the only one who heard Donovan? Fatal called into his commun, "Guys, in the next thirty seconds i want everyone 100 yards away. Don't worry about the Jugg, and everyone atop the chapel, clear your sights for active hostiles." Puzzled expressions filled the filth infested air. "Now!"

OOC: Yup.. =)

Ic:Captain Donovan signaled his team to get the Juggernaut, " Go!" Donovan sprayed 10 Magnum shots into the Juggernauts head and he was finished when Donovan changed to his MP5k and finished the job. " Alright squad advance," Captain Donovan told his group. He excommunicated with the squad and communicated with Viper with his communicator, " Something isn't right, how did they know we would be there in an instant, they even brought a Juggernaut and there only for standing ground, Task Force 181 Commander never told us about this sh*t." Then the team stopped in front of two tunnels. " I'm using my GPS, our objective is on the right but a sub objective is on the left, taking out Kharkov Domoniski." Captain Donovan thought this through, " Alright going on the left is Sandstorm, Ghost, Longshot. Right side is Myself, Viper, Sandro, and Fatal." Donovan looked at Sandstorm, " Good luck mate." The teams split up and Donovan notice multiple mines in the area, " Don't move, the pillars that are holding this place is made up of wood, and titanium, but this area is being held only by wood, any suggestions?"

OOC: We are in a cave.

Ic: Captain Donovan bonked Fatal on the head, " This is serious right now Fatal, I need real ideas." Captain Donovan, he looked at multiple crates on the sides of the mines, he jumped on the one on the left started jumping up and down, it was stable. " Here's our way out of this mess boys. We should do this one at a time and quickly the Russians already know we are here, your first Fatal since you like to be the comedian why don't you entertain us," Donovan said with a smile.

The juggernaut didn't stand a chance.

Shooting a juggernaut with normal caliber bullets would be like giving him a back rub and a front rub, Sandro knew. So to take it out there is only 4 definitive choices: Viper's Barrett 50 Cal., Capt Donovan's Magnum, Longshot's Intervention, or Fatal's.....shovel?

It was then Donovan gave the signal, and no less than first three of the options lined out by Sandro's thought pummeled into the juggernaut's head. Bullets from the snipers are bad enough, but when accompanied by the magnum and the mp5k, Sandro had no doubt that it was nothing but a pure overkill. He wondered if Fatal wasn't disappointed he did not get to use his 'shovel'.

"Alright squad, advance," the Captain's voice crackled in Sandro's left ear, while his real voice boomed in Sandro's right. The team then faced two entrances to the tunnels, each, as according to the Capt, holds an objective on its own.

The Dongfeng M-11 Missiles: a single stage, solid fueled missile with a reported range of 290 km and a payload of 800 kg, either obtained from the Chinese or the black market. If they're here in Eastern Russia, then every strategic point in 300 km radius would be a sitting duck. What's worse, there's someone who is very willing to use it.

Kharkov Domoniski: Exiled ex-Russian general, a clear loyalist to the old motherland and the dream to make it a superpower again, even if it means another world war. One of the leading figures in the ultranationalist faction, he is merciless and dangerous, even if slightly demented. Or at least that's Sandro's personal take.

Either way, these two objectives are crucial. Failure would be catastrophic.

Voicing this thought, Capt Donovan issued the orders: "Alright, going on the left is Sandstorm, Ghost, Longshot. Right side is Myself, Viper, Sandro, and Fatal." Sandro nodded an acknowledgment, and the team split up. Each with an important task at hand: and the will to complete it. At any cost.

Sandro had not walked but a few steps before he stopped dead in his tracks, discovering something that Capt Donovan also noticed. "Mines." Sandro breathed. Capt Donovan nodded, "Don't move, the pillars that are holding this place is made up of wood, and titanium, but this area is being held only by wood, any suggestions?"

"Move...fast?" Fatal chuckled at his own joke, and Sandro tried to smile, even if the joke is a little dry. Sandro surveyed the surroundings, taking off his visor to adjust his vision to the low light surroundings while considering their options: Technically, moving fast is possible, there has to be another exit if the Russians were willing to collapse this tunnel entrance; but the risk is too great, if a mine detonated directly on one of the trooper.....and casualties would seriously impair the mission at this juncture. Putting his visor into a vest pocket, Sandro narrowed his green eyes in thought. Now what?

Capt Donovan tested the row of crates running the whole left side of the tunnel, an unconventional pathway perhaps, but then again, they're not conventional task force. Sandro eyed the crates with a doubtful air, but he recognized the only way to get past the mines without setting it off, and fell in behind Fatal, who grumbled as he lightly made his way on the crates.

After everyone had successfully made it, Russians came and started to run towards them from behind them, " Reinforcements, I'll handle this." Captain Donovan took out his MP5k and started shooting the mines the cave collapsed and the Russians were shouting from the other side, there was an opening in the top, Captain Donovan was a skilled Semtex thrower and he threw it just an inch to sticking to the rubble. He tagged a Semtex because he heard screaming and the word "Semtex on Loroski!" the Semtex exploded cries of pain came on the other side, there was still Russian Voices and they went in a different direction, Captain Donovan pressed on his ear, " Team 2 there are hostiles coming your way from the back, you'll find out somehow to get them away" Donovan heard Russian voices ahead, it was one big room filled with crates and barrels a perfect trap, " Sandro hide under that canvas, Viper get on top of that crate and quick scope, Fatal do you have any claymores on you, if you do plant them near the door. I'll be the decoy, so you can take them out, after 30 seconds of me taking all the fire they'll focus on me... Ok?"

"I have a better idea. Get back." Kaij said and stepped in front of Donovan, and pulled a frag out of his belt. "Back." he said again, and cooked the grenade for a few seconds, before tossing it into the air. They had onlt just made it out of the cave, when it exploded. The airburst caused all the hostiles to lose their balance, and the powerful shockwave caused the whole thing to collapse. "Why use 100 units of ammo when you can use one?"

"Thanks Kaji, perfect time to use this 'nade shovel and you just ruin my fun." Fatal, still with a tight grip on the shovel, pulled his striker of his side, and held it with one hand. "Fully loaded, okay do whatever, just as long as i get to use this shovel." Sandro stared at his shovel with a light grin. "At least somebody sees this as potential."

Donovan looked at Viper, " Where the fun in that man." Donovan shrugged and he pressed his ear, " Team 2, we are close to the objective, whats your status." Donovan looked at his GPS, he kept looking on and then he took out his MP5k. Donovan started hearing a faint voice in his communicator, " Donovan this is Base Delta One-Two of England, there seems to be multiple hostiles ahead of you." Donovan kept walking forward cautiously, " Thanks Base Delta, we'll be careful."

"I don't agree with caution, can't we just wipe the mothers?" Fatal shrugged, opening for another joke when Base Delta radioed in, 'We have confirmation on a defensive group heading your way. Looks to be a few Juggernauts, And some full bodied Riot Shield line group. Watch yourselves' "Alright, we can play cautious."

Kaij chuckled to himself at Fatals response. "Fun is nothing but an illusion. It differs from man to man. For you, fun may be using a lot of bullets in taking out these guys, then being shot dead when you run out in the middle of a fight, where mine is to conserve ammo so we have some remaining when it's really needed. Anyways, we use caution for this. Everyone with an assault rifle, set up behind these crates, ready to ambush. I'll climb to the top of the rubble with my sniper, and pick out who I can."

Wolf followed Longshot, Ghoost, and Sandstorm into the left tunnel. The tunnel suddenly shook and dust fell from the ceiling of the tunnel. "sounds like Team 1 is having a good time" Wolf muttered to himself. Wolf heard boots scraping on pieces of rock, and by the sound of them they weren't worn by either of his current "squad mates". "Guys, I think we're about to have some company." Wolf said as he checked the magazine to his M4A1. "Let the fun begin..." Wolf muttered as he aimed his rifle at the approaching bend in the tunnel.

OOC: How can they head our way when the cave in front of us collapsed!? Anyway, I'll improvise.

Trapped. There's no other word for it. And 2nd Lt Sandro was inwardly exasperated at their current situation.

The coup de grace made by Viper's grenade was the ultimate exhibition of skill and precision, but the poorest in terms of tactical outlook. It finished off the hostiles in one fell swoop, true, but it also ended up collapsing their only way forward. Now how are we going to reach the missiles!? Sandro cursed, while eyeballing the rubble in front of them.

"Thanks Kaij, perfect time to use this 'nade shovel and you just ruin my fun." Fatal exhorted, and Sandro stared at the shovel with a tired grin. in response, Fatal smiled and exclaimed, "At least somebody sees this as potential."

Shaking his head, the 2nd Lieutenant pointed out: "Fatal, that shovel of yours would probably collapse the entire cave on top of us. So save that for when we are outdoors, yeah?" It was then an additional voice crackled; It was base command, "We have confirmation on a defensive group heading your way. Looks to be a few Juggernauts, And some full bodied Riot Shield line group. Watch yourselves."

That made Sandro furrow his brow, How the hell....

Sandro pressed his left forefinger against his left ear, then asked, "Base Delta One-Two; this is 2nd Lt Sandro: where did you confirm the visual of the hostiles, over?" In the distance, Sandro could hear Viper and Fatal discussing something about fun. He wasn't interested right now. The voice crackled again, "Sandro, our satellite imagery picked up a visual of the clearing where the missiles are deployed; it shows the defensive group arming themselves and moving out. In your relative position, it's to your left, over."

Left!? Sandro stared at the rubble in front of him, then to the left, where a blank wall met his gaze; the wall looked new. An icy prickling ran down his spine, he didn't register Viper's command to set up behind the crates, he didn't see everyone taking their positions, but he does know that they are facing the wrong way.

Sandro turned and ran, while shouting at the top of his voice: "Guys! Hostiles going to breach the fake wall to our left!"

The wall exploded outwards. And sunlight poured into the cavern.

The flying rubble flew past Sandro's head even as he vaulted over a stone outcropping and ducked into the cover, just in time to dodge the bullets that cut swathes in the air overhead. Sandro took a peek with one eye to the side of his cover; and breathed one word: "F*ck."

A line of six riot shield holders plowed the way, followed by the remnants of local militias and four frickin' juggernauts providing full covering fire. And behind the juggernauts, bathed in the harsh midday sunlight in the outdoors, Sandro could see their objective: the M-11 Missiles, all prepped and ready to fire.

Only a hundred meters separated the team from their objective, but that hundred meters are infested with the worst kinds of hostiles to deal with. Sandro took a deep breath, and blind threw a frag grenade to the left of his cover, then immediately turned to pop out of the right of his cover.

His grenade exploded directly in front of two of the riot-shielders, killing one outright and stumbling the other, who immediately received a burst of bullet to the head from Sandro's FN-P90. This burst was followed by a few burst towards the relatively less protected local militias, with three dead and one wounded to the ribs as a result of the assault.

The juggernauts finally took notice of Sandro and sprayed bullets in his direction, missing his face only by inches as Sandro took cover. "Gah! Captain! Viper! We need some high-caliber bullets pummeling onto those juggernauts!"

Then a realization came to Sandro; the missiles were already armed. Sandro immediately patched into team 2's comm, "Team 2, we need you to take out Dominiski fast. The missiles are armed! I repeat, the missiles are armed! Dominiski must be holding the trigger, take him out before he fires the missile! We'll do our best from here!"

OoC:I deleted my prievious post.

Ic: Ghost went into a shooting postion with a bit of rock giving him cover. He looked over and saw 5 Shadows. '5 Foot mobiles comming our way sir' Ghost Wispered. He adjusted his zoom to get a better shot at the first hostiles coming round the corner. 'I'll take the right two and you take the rest' He wispered to the others. Then he saw the hostiles stop and just stand there. 'What are they waiting for' Ghost wisperered.

Fatal re-equiped his M16A4, knocking back a few of the random militia following the Defensive Squad. Sandro was screaming through the commun, disrupting Fatals focus. Two of the juggs had breached the door completely. "Desperate times call for my showoffyness. Sorry." In an act of godlike proportion, Fatal skimmed through the tunnel, avoid every bullet except the one that skimmed his left shoulder. The juggs payed him no attention. He sprinted full speed, wielding his shovel, and tapped off of one of the riot shields. He cat-leaped up to the overhanging ledge, bullets flying everywhere. Another bullet hit, right in the hip. He winced in pain, knowing full well what he would do next.
