[align=center]I've challenged Mahandra with Conditions 10 of his Challenge Thread. They are:

- Insect-Type

- Level 6 or above

- 2000 ATK or more

- Cannot include 'remove' in the effect.

First to 5 Votes wins. (3 reps for Winner, 1 rep for Loser)

Enjoy.

Effect: You can Tribute Summon this card by Tributing 1 Level 5 or higher Insect-Type monster you control. If this face-down card would be destroyed by a card effect, you can discard 1 card from your hand to negate the effect. Once per turn, you can switch this card to face-down Defense Position. When this card is flipped face-up by your opponent's monster or card effect, destroy 2 monsters your opponent controls and inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the destroyed monsters' combined ATK. If this card is Flip Summoned or flipped face-up by this card's controller's card effect, destroy 1 Monster and 1 Spell or Trap Card your opponent controls and inflict damage to your opponent equal to the number of cards they control x 400.

Effect: When your opponent activate a Spell Card, you can Special Summon this card from your hand by Tributing 1 Level 5 or higher Insect-Type monster you control. When this card is Summoned, you can add 1 Quick-Play Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. You cannot activate it during this turn. When this card would be destroyed by the effect of Trap Cards, you can shuffle 1 Quick-Play Spell Card from your hand into your Deck to negate its activation and destroy the Trap Card.

4-0 to me.

What makes it overpowered? I thought that needing to keep it face-down for its effects to activate would be a balancer, plus it's protection only comes while it's face-down, ie when it tries to flip face-down again after being flipped up, your opponent could get it with "Divine Wrath" or "Rageki Break". Am I mistaken?

This is an upgraded version of the cards "Swarm of Locusts" and "Swarm of Scarabs", so I decided on a more powerful version of their effects. Also, consider you've just reduced the potential burn damage by 800 by destroying two cards your opponent controlled. And the huge number of destruction-negation cards out there makes this card's compulsory effect prone to set off any selection of Counter Traps.

I'll probably lower the DEF to 2600 to provide additional balance.

Nah, keep at as is. It may be a little op'd but it's not really that. It's that there are those who dislike power, and I would most definitely refuse to bend until I almost break for ingrates that can't appreciate power. Just leave the card the way it is, it's fine, and only a little op'd for obvious reasons of which are obvious, plus the reasons of which you had stated before that emphasize that it's really not terribly op'd.
