Ehhhhh.... I dunno. You might play guitar and sing but you don't really seem the type to be in a Extreme (Black/Death) Metal band. You seem more like the Prog Rock/Metal type. So I would definitely choose you for that.

Yeah, I'd see myself in that kind of genre I guess. The band I'm currently in though, is some kind strange mix between... I dunno, I'd put us as somewhere around Post-Hardcore/Metalcore if I had to pick a genre. I wouldn't see myself in a Black or Death Metal band though, despite low growls.
