They're identical, except for some eggs that can only be made through breeding.

So here's the gist: the type of dragon you get depends on when it hatches.

 

6AM to 12PM EST = Sunrise

6PM to 12AM EST = Sunset

Eggs stolen in the Cave have no lineages, and therefor couldn't be Alts or other breedable dragons. Eggs bred, do have lineages and can be Alts.

That's the biggest difference.

Oh, didn't you know? Unless you have a throphy (for getting, 50, 200 or 500 dragons) your limit is 4 eggs/hatchlings. You can, however have 3 hatchlings and 3 eggs and still get 1 more egg.
