Worms.

It started in 1994.

It was a simple game of you controlling a Team of worms to kill the other team. You use weapons like Bazookas, Grenades and Dynamite. You also have a stranger variety of weapons, like Sheep, Old Ladys (I think they where introduced later),

Re released as "Worms: The Director's Cut".

Then, one of the best games in the series, Worms 2 was released in 1998

Why is it the one of the Best?

The wide selection of weapons is why.

The Sheep Strike is one of my faves. But the HHGoA (Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, Yes, i am a Monty Python Fan) is a close second.

Then Worms Armageddon came along in 1999.

One of the few games i haven't played. I'm pretty sure that the deadly Armageddon was introduced. Then came Worms World Party along in March 12 2001. Another one of the best. Then the series took a turn for the worst. Starting with Worms Forts: Under Siege was available in 2004. Then sometime in 2003-5 May-October, Worms 3D was introduced to the market. Then Worms 4: Mayhem came along in 2005. Then Worms: Open Warfare came about in 2006. Then in 2007, Worms for XBox Live and other systems was made available to the public. In 2007 the sequel to Open Warfare was Published. Then, in my opinion, the worst game of the series, Worms: A Space Oddity was unchained in 2008. Then in 2009, we got Worms Armageddon 2 for XBox Live. Then, this year, 2010, we will receive in Legend of Zelda Style, Worms: Reloaded, if only i could get it :(.

Anyway, discus the epicness that is: Worms.

WWP was the start of the descent of Worms. Worms Armaggeddon was awesome, but Worms World Party only added a single interesting new thing and some new missions and trainings. Additionally, it gave up the "achieve things to unlock new options", which made WA so awesome.

Oh, and it added sort of added some new visuals. Like for example the mines. The animation of the worm dropping the mine still had it dropping the original green mine from WA, but then once it was dropped it suddenly turned into the new style of mine, which was in your team's color.

WWP was overrushed and it shows. Anwyay, I still play Worms Armaggeddon from time to time, it's truly superb!

My personal favorite game is 4 Mayhem.

The Weapon Customizer was a great idea and the HHGoA was the most overpowered weapon in the game' date=' hands down.

Space Oddity was crap.

I also liked Mayhem a lot. I do think that the custom weapons could lead to some cheap stuff (the Strike Out Strike comes to mind >_>).

I loved their little voices as you played. The squeals, shouts, gasps, the Oh nos.Not to mention the variety of weapons is numerous and creative. And the idea of worms fighting each other with weapons is funny. I still wonder how the worms funded their little wars though.

I had an old DOS game I used to play called Liero which was pretty fun to play. It was more of a 1v1 deathmatch type of Worms game which had a nice assortment of weapons (you could have 5 preselected before a match), and you and a friend fought it out. It was real time, not turned based, so both players are actively fighting each other. You even had grappling hooks and stuff to swing across the cavernous areas and shoot while doing so.

It was very fun, though its been a long time played, considering its a DOS game x.o I remember redownloading it with a DOS loader so it'll run but i dunno what I did with that.
