Magikarp seems like a good idea, and perhaps one the houses around the town will have a guy who will give you an OLD ROD to start your journey with. Sound like an idea? <3

 

Also, what do you think of my decision to use the small houses and the old building instead of the Pallet houses and Lab? I'm personally more of a fan of it this way. =]

Yup. <3 Now I've made a false route to make up for my tree failure in the first map I'll get working on Route One. It'll be awesomesauce and stuff, so I'll post it here before I head to sleep.

If you're scripting new areas, I'd really like a place called Hon Ruins (play of words off of Hoenn, kind of) where you can catch Pokemon that are not available in FireRed normally. Like Wailmer and that sort of crap. Unless you are including them naturally in the grass.

 

Working on movesets now. 11 Pokemon, I'll probably get 9 done today. I'll leave Mawspectre and that Altaria replacement for tomorrow.

Lmao, you think I wouldn't realise something like that? Look at the grass in front of the house too, on the rock. It's a beta map, I really wouldn't expect perfection. These are just maps to give you an idea of what the game will end up looking like.

 

I won't work on anymore today, it's just too late (2:28AM) to do any mapping now. I'll work on the next town tomorrow... which is actually today, though considering I don't think I'm going out anywhere. There may end up being a spontaneous band practice that seems to happen a lot though, so I can't promise my whole day to you guys. It won't be a big town either, not at all like Viridian. No, this one will be a very more Sandgem-inspired town, and you'll see why and where all these mini-lakes are coming from. :P

It's funny, because you're wrong. ;D He's just a random trainer on the way... you SHOULD be looking to the small house in the bottom left. Yeah that's right, there's an old man living there who gives you the rod he used to own when he was a young whipper-snapper. Unfortunately as the name suggests it is a bit of an OLD ROD.

Check Post #61 (of this thread) to refresh your mind about how these movesets will be working. You have not given me names of the starters, so I'll just make some generic spoiler title. If something needs to be changed, tell me so I can edit it. I tried not to make these as broken as the Zapdos-ripoff, since they are only starters. Okay, here we go.

 

I'll post Mawspectre and the Altaria replacement sometime tomorrow or Sunday. It's just that the 9 starters are the easiest to get done together, and the other two need to have individual movesets that I can't really copy/pasta off of others.

I feel I made the Fire-type way, way too overpowered with the moveset. So if you want, you can replace the level-up moves (namely Flamethrower, Ice Beam, et cetera) with weaker counterparts (like Fire and Ice Punches).

 

I actually HIGHLY recommend you do that, just to balance out the starters. Although the stat spread is equal, the Fire-type atm is really way too strong for the Grass-type to have a chance at handling. And hell, with that moveset, it could even beat the Water-type. So be sure to replace those moves when scripting, that way it is harder to access them.

I was going to put Powder Snow, but I don't really know if that'd be suitable.

 

And yeah, I did make that thing a bit too broken. The Fire/Ice-typing got me a bit too ecstatic.

 

The Water one seems to be the easiest to moveset at the moment, because I can put anything on it and it won't be broken because of all-around average stats.

 

@ Electrode sprite: Top wings would look cooler, maybe a recolor to orange or some "warm" color. If you are really an advanced spriter, change the mouth and eyebrow poses.

I tried putting Aerodactyl wings on it, but Aerodactyl had so many shades of gray I was about to punch my computer, so I erased them.

 

Dragonite wings ftw (as long as it doesn't have 9001 shadings)?
