Shawn Spencer was at a loss of exactly where he was or why he was there. But he was positive that this is not where he was supposed to be.

 

No, he was not supposed to be in a very natural, peaceful-looking place (though it did have its charms), with an old-styled, Japanese building laying ahead. This whole place felt odd. His eyes looked all around him, taking in every detail he could, knowing damn well it could come in handy later.

 

"Gus?" he called out, nervously. If his friend had somehow wound up here too, he could probably better work to figure things out.

 

"Who's there?" an unexpected, feminine voice called out. Shawn looked up, and to his surprise, he saw a girl dressed in Red and white clothing, some strange pieces of paper clutched between her fingers. "Huh. It's just a human. Have you come to give a donation?"

 

"Uh...donation?" he asked, looking at her quizzically. "No, I'd just like to know where I am. Kinda... weirded out here."

 

The girl raised an eyebrow. "You're at the Hakurei Shrine, where else? Actually...you're dressed pretty strangely. You're from the outside world, aren't you?" she asked, tucking her charms away.

 

"'Outside World'?" Shawn repeated. "You crazy or something? Look, I'm supposed to be in a hotel, with Gus, trying to solve a murder," he said, casually, flailing his hands out a bit. "and you're not helping me in figuring out how I got here at all."

 

She only sighed. "I am not crazy. You were obviously sucked through the border for some reason. Probably Yukari messing with people again... eh, I guess I could take you in for now. Come into the shrine, and I'll get you sorted out."

 

Shawn snorted. "Border? Outside World? You really are wacky, aren't you? And no thanks, I'd rather avoid shacking up with some weirdo in a shabby-looking shrine."

 

Shawn barely leaped away as a Sealing Charm went sailing for his forehead. Apparently he had angered the girl, and those papers she had been holding could be thrown as weapons from what he could see. "Whoa! Calm down now." he said, using a calming, somewhat comical voice in an effort to diffuse the situation.

 

"I don't take kindly to insults against my shrine." she replied, flying -whoa flying? - up into the air as she called out more of those papers, and some floating Yin-Yang orbs. "You need to learn some respect." she commented dryly. "I guess I'll just have to exterminate you like I would a Youkai~"

 

She then threw more of those charms, the orbs sending out strange designs too. However, Shawn saw them coming, seeing them almost as if time had stood still for a moment, and swiftly managed to dodge them in a pattern of movement as he pulled out a gun.

 

His powers of observation were as keen as ever, he noted with a smirk. And his gun would probably have to do if he was going to defend himself.

 

The girl just smirked. "You're pretty good. But not good enough. I'm Reimu Hakurei. That's a name you had best learn to respect." she added with a smirk. "And now, I think I really will have to exterminate you."

 

And then she was throwing her charms again, these ones seeming to magically home in on their target. Shawn aimed with an inexperienced hand, as he tried to shoot the incoming attacks...
