Poseidon©
I was practically all set for this gaming generation, with my PS3, PSP, DS, and Wii, but I was missing something, obviously the Xbox 360. While I have loved all the PS3 exclusives and features, the Wii's Nintendo games, the DS's touch screen video games, and the PSP's media functions, the Xbox was still a hole in this generation. I would have gotten an Xbox if it wasn't for a game called Alan Wake. The decision of buying a Xbox was basically riding on Alan Wake. The lighting and graphics looked gorgeous, and it's storyline was being written by a writer. However, during the weeks it was overhyped even more than SSBB, and maybe Halo 3, I was having doubts. Alan Wake's storyline/script is being made by a writer, yes, I already acknowledged that, but what I was worried about was the length and variety. A lot of reviewers are saying it's about, 6 hours long with basically no replayability? Also, the enemies and terrain look like the same. Enemies are the village folk and flying items. Terrain is just a rough island. Reviews don't really add a whole lot to it. Edge is a biased toward the PS3, and Alan Wake itself received a 7. There are many reviews out there that gave it good scores, but this is the one that impacted me the most. Slow framerate, horrible replayability, a low variety of terrain and enemies, and a 5 year development timeline that got not even one perfect review put this game in my head, to rest. Who knows? Maybe Halo Reach will change my mind. Or maybe Natal will actually work for "hardcore games." Or maybe there'll be a massive AAA+ exclusive that'll be epic and actually live up to it's hype. All I know is that I will not have a Xbox sometime soon. All set to buy a Xbox 360. I was bored. Tried to make some gaming journalism that's not biased, but it probably is. Brushfire
I really think that basing your opinion on one review (that was by Edge, who are bias as funk rofl) was a brilliant idea. In my opinion personally, I don't think it lived up to it's hype. However, it's a great game and the best 360-exclusive there is. The framerate isn't slow btw, I would've noticed that instantly. I haven't completed it yet but it doesn't seem like there's much replayability so perhaps that's correct, and I love replayability. That'll piss me off as much as AC did. The terrains are... what you'd expect, really. I don't think they're bad, because they're brilliant, but variety as you've put is probably correct. I wouldn't consider it low variety, but there certainly isn't much. Alan Wake itself is not worth buying an XBOX 360. When buying my 360, I thought of three things: Price, Friends and Halo. I would now add Sky to that list.

Believe me, I've played AW and everything else and I can tell it's not the best exclusive. However, AW is still good.

Brushfire
It's probably just the usual over-hype I get when I get a new game. I'm sure I won't consider it amazing once I've completed it and put it down for a while. But at this moment in time while I'm bored of everything else, it's the best game. Though logically, Forza 3 is by far the best 360 exclusive tbh. Well, we'll see how Reach does too I guess. I have REALLY got to but Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2. I've been told how good it is so many times and never bothered to buy it. Either way... I'm more of a fan of RPG's and I love PS3's exclusives so I do wish to get one. I want to keep my 360 too and just buy PS3-exclusives for the PS3 and use it as a Blu-ray DVD player while maintaining all my saves for my 360. I might play online on MW2 on PS3 too, though I'm not sure about losing all my stuff.
Cyber Altair
I'm not gonna get into Alan Wake because the developers are the most pretentious people ever. Episodes, seasons and crap? It's a game for fucks sake.

Cyber Altair
It hasn't been mentioned in a SINGLE review or preview so I'm gonna call bullshit on your claim. Video games are supposed to be enjoyed and make you feel like you're an badass (in other words, interaction.) Badass is a really bad choice of words and why the industry is funking up. I don't need to save the world every time I play a game. Also Alan Wake seems like a really atmospheric game.
