I say put in Alpha Status. It's an older card. 3casting enchantment 1 green 2 colorless enchant creature. Enchanted creature gets +2/+2 for each creature in play that shares a creature type with it.

As I've said before' date=' the older the card the harder it becomes for me to get it. IMO Coat of Arms is just as good.

Coat of Arms is good, but remember that it helps the opponent as well. Alpha Status is better for Elves - especially since Elves (like Slivers) tend to swarm QUICKLY. You can put it on something like Defiant Elf (since it has trample) and watch the chaos unfold.

(Oh, and for fun - Slivers have a specific card that acts like Coat of Arms in creature form that only works for Slivers. That card is Sliver Legion.)

Yea, I saw that about Coat of Arms. My friend was using his Elf deck and we ended up helping each other more then we should have. It was funny since our monsters would have had something like 50/50 since at the end we both had out Coat of Arms.

Again, the problem is getting older cards. I know how good some of them are, but they are just hard to come by. Another, older card, that is great for Elves is Heedless One. So is Wren's Run Vanquisher.

Slivers are fun. It's that simple. I really want to get the Sliver deck, but even that has been a pain to find.

Yeah, it's amazing, you can even make a cart list without making an account, and even better that list will never reset on you until you make the purchase. So if you have issues like I do where you have to pay your parents the money before they'll use their credit card you can make and edit the list all you want.

He's better off looking at cardkingdom

I'm not big on getting things on line. Yea, I know I can trust them, but it's not really something I like doing. I know, I'm odd like that.

So any other thoughts on the two decks, and the cards I'm planning on adding to my Elves?

Yes, as I have an elf deck of my own. Recommendation, you want all creatures to be elves. You want at least 1 Nissa Revane (although not entirely necessary, if you do you want 4 Nissa's Chosen) you want at least 1 Wellwisher, 2 Elvish Archdruid, 1 Mul Daya Channelers, at least 2 Joraga Treespeaker, possibly 1 Gaea's Herald, 2 Might of the Masses, at least 2 Llanowar Elves, 2 Oracle of Mul Daya, 2 Elvish Visionary, and at least 1 Lys, Alana Huntmaster.

So what do you think? I could give you my entire Elf deck listing if that would help you more.

Nissa is going in once I get her, even with out the Nissa's Chosen her swarm effect and Life gain one are too good to pass up.

The Elvis Warriors are acting as place holders for Nissa's Chosen, however in the end I might only run two any way.

Wellwisher and at least 1 Archduid are going in once I get them.

Personally, I don't like Channelers.

Treespeaker is good, but I find Elves don't have as much of a need for mana as other decks, but I'll still add 1.

Gaea's Herald is good, but if your opponent doesn't have stuff to counter, then it doesn't have much use. That is more of a side board card. Might of the Masses is like Coat of Arms, but as you've said it can help the opponent. I guess I can side board it too.

I was thinking about adding another Llanowar and taking out a Greenweaver for it, so I'm going to do that.

Again I find Elves to not need mana as much as other decks so Oracle of Mul isn't that needed.

I have the 2 Visionaries and Huntmaster already.

I know an Elf deck should be all Elves but I don't have all the cards I need and the non-Elves I want to add (Tuskcaller, Khalni Hydra, and Grazing Gladehart) help give me bigger creatures and give me more life. Also, with all cards I want to add to me Elves I'm only losing 2 Elves.

Also, another problem I know I'm going to have is just getting some of the cards. No matter how much I may or may not want them I can't do anything if I don't have the cards.

I like doing my own thing. That's part of the reason I'm using Tuskcaller, Hydra, and Gladehart. I know they aren't need but they give my own personal touch to the deck.

If you have trouble finding some of the cards (especially older cards), and you don't like online buying (and I know this is going to sound funny), check out fleamarkets. There's usually one vendor who has a ton of different cards, and sometimes they don't really check what some cards are worth. It might not be worth it for rares, but you can find like whole bins of commons and uncommons for cheap (like 10c each). Flea markets helped me flesh out my sliver deck, maybe they can help you too.

@Genesis: I'd love to play magic here! IDK what deck I would use. I have lots of cards, but I only seem to have 6 decks. I won't list them, since that would ruin the surprise (unless you WANT us to list them since playing Magic here would REALLY require trust). You could always just make an RP and make it club exclusive so we don't use up this place, but IDC really. Anyways my decks are:

1. Green/Red Beatdown deck

2. Blue/Green Landfall deck

3. 5-Color deck (no theme so much. It's just about pwning xD )

4. 5-Color Elemental deck

5. Green/Red/Black deck (IDK what to put for the theme on this one)

6. Black/Red Burn deck

That's all of the ones I could think of. Anyways, if we were to play, could we do some multiplayer variants? I prefer playing in groups, though 1-on-1 is fine. I just think that adding multiple people to a game makes it interesting since things can come out of nowhere and completely different decks can collide with all sorts of spells.

Remy, I was thinking of using Chatzy.com.... That is a lot easier than anything else. Also if you don't want to list you decks then fine, it makes no difference to me. And sorry, but I don't do more than 1-on-1 unless it's in person.... Trust me, too many problems.

Also I already listed a few of my decks on the last page if you want to take a look.

Im still a Rookie deck builder at magic, haven't played for a while. Anyway when i read though this and came across the word elves and Flame Dragons deck 1 elf card came to mind and that would be Elvish Piper. Its a great card to get big things out fast, only thing is i think there hard to come by.

I have one, could have had 2 in fact (store near me sold them for $2). Yea, she's ment for big monster decks, not Elves.

Yes' date=' they're rare, but the issue is that elf decks don't usually use a lot of massive creatures so Elvish PIper's usefulness is minimal. You're better off sticking it in a deck with a lot of big, high casting creatures.

[/quote']

Yeah thats true, only reason i mentioned Elvish Piper was because one of my friends ran 4 copies i think in his beast deck. It was a nightmare when he managed to get one out. I never really won once, i was using a deck another friend gave me using Mistforms and Shifting Sliver.

@Saturn: I used 4 Elvish Piper in a Blue/Green Deck which allowed me to untap Elvish Piper and use it over and over, in one turn I played: [spoiler=Click Here]

Intet, the Dreamer

Numot, the Devastator

Oros, the Avenger

Vorosh, the Hunter

Teneb, the Harvester

(The above are the 5 Legendary Dragons from Planar Chaos)

Kaervek the Merciless

also note that the deck had a couple signet artifacts and dual-colored land so that I could use those cards without Elvish piper. I'm thinking of removing the dual lands though and just adding black into the deck so I can use 4 Diabolic Tutor and Rhystic Tutor. What do you guys think?

Had to look it up to jog my memory, one of my friends used Pemmin's Aura. Such a bad card (in a good way), but yes youd be set with the Piper. How many dual lands do you use? I'd think you should probably keep a few just in case. You wont always be able to put the Aura out.

Only 5...in that case i would go with removing then and adding the Tutors. Still just because your deck is Blue/Green doesnt mean you'll always be able to use the Aura...but then thats only situational if you face a control deck.

I was wondering when someone would ask, only thing is how? On top of that youd play against a rookie?
