Well' date=' there's always Magic Workstation in case we actually wanted to try those Decks out between us...

I guess... I still suggest playing multi-player (we would do chatzy & Magic Workstation for that). We could do a small tourney, and we can do voting on decks too. So I think I should choose the Blocks at random, so I feel like writing them down and choosing one. Or we could vote on the starting one. But we should wait until other people come. I want to try the Ice Age Block just because of how snow-mana makes the game interesting. And the Time Spiral Block. Of course, I'm sure we will get to go through many of them, if not all.

Ok' date=' i just had to ask to make sure.

lol that's fine. And I'm excited to start. Just can't wait for the others to show up.

Edit: Are we going to allow cards that are banned from block-constructed format? Because there's a relatively short list of maybe 20 cards that are banned, and IDK if we want to use them or not.

lol was thinking the same thing. Though it's still block constructed, so don't think you will use it in all your decks.

Kick it off? How about later today. One thing though' date=' shouldnt we have like a time limit for this? Its not like everyones gonna be on at the same time so maybe a 48 hour time limit.

[/quote']

Of course we'll have a time limit. Though I was thinking longer than 48 hours. People need to get into the idea of the block, look at all of the sets (which is usually 3), and then build a deck that suits them. I was thinking more like 4 days worth of time. That's enough for 1 day per set, and then 1 day to build a deck. Maybe even five.

But I am a man of the people. So I will go with recommendations.

First, what block are we talking about and I'd have to say based on my schedule you should give everyone five days in which to build a deck. Because if they have things going on then they can't get on and see the block and then find a list of the cards in the block in order to use it to build a deck.

Also how do we compare decks? By dueling on Chatzy?

Well I think we should start off with a block people know, so the Ravnica Block. Lot's of 2 colored fun should pop up. Anyways, as for time 5 days does seem good. Comparing decks should be put into 2 ways. 1) Voting in here. People can vote on any deck but their own, so that way votes don't get split evenly amongst everyone (non-participating club members may vote also). 2) 1-on-1 dueling on chatzy. Everyone will duel each other person the same amount of times. I would think once would be enough, but w/e you guys want. Overall winners would be ranked based on how both went (meaning your win/lose/tie record would be balanced with your votes to determine how well you did).

A way I wanted to decide would be multiplayer because it wouldn't be very hard anyways. But that doesn't have to be a part. Though it could be fun for anyone who wants to. There are plenty of variants out there to choose from.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

Edit: A week would also allow 2 extra days for more deck development, such as choosing themes, and for people who miss a day or two to find out.

Edit (again): This is in no way meant to be the official rules. I'm just trying to lay some ground down so that we can start sooner (not time-wise, but just generally). Remember, it's just a suggestion.

You're right about the week thing but overall the game wasn't made for multiplayer matches.

I say that voting will be a mess and allowing outsiders to vote is basically asking for spam.

We're better off having all the participants duel each other participant once. The issue with dueling on chatzy is that it means that they'd all have to print out the cards off the internet and build the deck that way in order to duel fairly.

The other issue with dueling on chatzy to decide the winner is the amount of time that alone would take.

Let's wait for Flame Dragon or Saturn Paladin to get on and review what we've said before we keep going.

Well allowing outsiders to vote would call for quite a bit of spam, an alternate solution would be to PM the votes so theres no spam. Of course that would mean we would need like a judge(s).

You can use chatzy if you want or use Magic Workstation which i think would be best since no one would have to print out anything and probably wont take as long as chatzy would.

I don't know what Magic Workstation is and also outsiders couldn't vote unless they know the game and if the did they'd be members right? That's why I say no outsiders.

Magic Workstation is like YVD, only thing is youd have to download the current database to have all the sets in it. Also theres 2 versions, the unregistered version, which im not sure but i think you can play against somone online, and the registered version which youd have to pay for which has some extra stuff but not really necessary.

As for outsiders voting, yeah i figured it wasn't great to let them vote since they would need some knowhow on what MTG is. So i guess its just those that are here.

Edit: Damn you beat me to it MarbleZone.

I meant people in the club that aren't building the decks can vote. Not just anybody.

And yeah, duels on chatzy 1-on-1 once would be good. I guess that would be the only way. As for the voting, that's not necessary, but we can have it if you guys want.

But it's good we are getting the ideas down. We are that much closer.

And as I'm reading these posts, I see stuff about spammers voting? Why would you guys want to let people from outside of the club vote? That would just turn into spam. That's why I suggested only people inside the club would be allowed to vote.

As for Magic Workstation, I tried using it, and like YVD it is too confusing and annoying to understand. Of course, if I could be showed how to use it that would work. But we need a way everyone can play. Chatzy is one way, but keeping track of decks would be too hard, so we'd need a way to simulate our decks.

So basically we need a reliable way to play that everyone can understand how to work. So if you can explain how to work Magic Workstation then that would work.

Where I learned and downloaded everything I needed about MWS. Seriously, it's actually simple, take an afternoon to mess around with it offline and you're good to go; especially if you're dueling people you know, which makes things a lot easier and more relaxed if for some reason there is a misunderstanding or misplay. ;)
