Umbra
Thanks, Ixigo. I've missed your ratings. I felt the site was too consuming, as I had to put up every custom card aswell. But once I finish the first volume (only three or four chapters left now) I will make a new thread that's easier to read. PS: You might want to change "Ho boy" into "Oh boy". PPS: Just to ease the wait for you, I'll give you a little spoiler for Chapter XX. Chapter XX: Breaking Locks will open up a way for Susannah, Abbi, and Isaac to defeat the Dreadroot. But first, they must unlock the mind of Nathaniel, with Rataval and Seerra close by. Meanwhile, Mia meets a mysterious man who gives her a special offer... Guest Ixigo
"Oh boy" would indicate exasperation or even disdain. "Ho boy" generally implies pleasant surprise, which describes my feelings after seeing you are still working on the story, and doing such a good job at it. Don't argue >_< Quite the intriguing spoiler, it seems. But what about moar RSC? I like the one I've read so far (almost missed it, too).

Umbra
Red Sky CityApril 26th Mia sniffed. She had been crying for about five minutes, and now she sat up. She had been so close, so close to stop Jonah. And now, he was gone. She sniffed again. Just like Eric. Now, both of them were gone. She had lost both of her sons to that Dreadroot. She rose, slowly, from the floor, and walked into the apartment. She left the door open, and looked around. It was a long hallway leading to an open space, possibly a living room. As she had suspected, it was quite cold inside thanks to the large orb-sized hole in the roof, but the rest of the apartment was quite shabby, with garbage lying around on the floor. She kept walking through the hallway. There were two doors on each side of the hallway, leading to bedrooms or storage rooms. Then, she came out to the living room, and looked up. It was still cold from the morning breeze, so she held her arms close to her body. She walked around in the living room, and tried to picture Jonah here. Maybe sitting in that brown couch slumped against the wall, or out on the balcony. But she couldn't, not after what had happened. Suddenly, she heard the door close behind her. - Mia Morae? She turned around, and saw a young man wearing a brown shirt and a slightly darker tie, along with fine-style black trousers. He wore glasses, which Mia could see a pair of penetrating green eyes behind. She nodded at him, and he smiled. - I'm glad I could find you so quickly. The name's Darren Millstone, and I work for the company. Mia nodded; she thought he had seen him somewhere. He had often came down to her floor, looking for one of the employees. He was one of Ketitrod's closest workers, but Mia didn't surely know what his job was. - I tried to contact your home, and I got the message that you might have headed here. You're not safe here, Mia. She raised her eyebrows and gave Darren a stern look. - And what do you mean by that, Darren? He grunted impatiently. - We know that you are aware of the existance of the Dreadroot. She gulped; he smiled. - And by all means, we wish to protect you, since we also happen to know that you are one of the souls that the Dreadroot looks for. At this point, Mia became very stressed and looked around. There was something about Darren that she didn't like. There was something that felt... inhuman about him. He smiled at her. - Mister Ketitrod has a mansion not far away from here where you will be safe from the Dreadroot's forces. Mia nodded. Darren continued. - I can take you there within hours, and you can remain there as long as you'd like. We'd prefer however if you stayed there until the threat from the Dreadroot has been taken care of. Mia shrugged. - I suppose you're right. Redemption City hospitalApril 26th Susannah looked at Abbi. The golden glow had began to fade away, but there was still a glimpse around the iris. They ran quickly through the hallways of the hospital, down the stairs and past countless doors with patients and nurses staring at the three children dashing through the hospital. Abigail was still chanting something, but Susannah couldn't make out what she said. Suddenly, Abbi stopped in her tracks. Isaac almost tripped forward, and Susannah barely managed to halt before crashing into a nurse. She turned towards Abbi, who looked through one of the doorways. Isaac sighed. - What is it now, Abbi? She pointed through the doorway. - That man... We must speak to him. Susannah looked into the room, and saw that a man was lying on the bed. He gazed at them, but his eyes were empty. He reminded Susannah of someone, but she couldn't remember from where. Then, the man looked directly at her, and she realized. It was the old man that had came to their house, then vanished. The man that Jonah had called Jack. The old man gave Abbi a stern look, then turned his gaze to Susannah. - There is much you don't know, Susannah. About your heritage. About your legacy... Suddenly, the outside wall began to crack and fall apart. Large pieces of stone fell out, and soon, the whole wall was wrecked. In the now wide opening, a giant golden orb was levitating. Susannah shivered as strings of shadows began to emerge from the orb, into the walls and the rooms nearby. Then, three people stepped out of the orb. Susannah, Abbi, and Isaac gasped at the same time. They had immediately recognized two of them. - Jonah! - Richard! The two shorter of the people, a fifteen-year-old boy and a boy around twelve or thirteen, turned their heads towards them. Then, they looked at each other, and shrugged. Susannah realized that something had changed with them. Their hair had turned white, much like what had happened to Eric after he had became Nathaniel according to Jonah. She gulped. What if the same thing had happened to Jonah? Then, the third person turned to Isaac, and he spoke. - Osiris, you can not escape. Susannah looked at the third person, and took a few disgusted steps back. The man's face was that of the dragon that had they had seen on the news. The mass-murderer. Isaac shook his head at the dragon-man. When he spoke, it was with the same, ancient voice as when he spoke to Abbi. I'm afraid you are wrong, Eraser. No magic of yours can stop me. - The Eraser smiled. Not my magic, indeed. But the Avatar's magic can. You see, while we've been speaking, he has been making his way through will building, weakening the walls and carving out the support pillars. In a few minutes, this building will fall to bits. To emphasize his words, the whole building shivered. Susannah gasped of fear. - But there are countless innocents here! The sick and wounded! The Eraser smiled of gratification. - All the better. He turned back to Isaac. - And unless you can defeat me, Osiris, I personally will make sure you are the first to fall. Isaac nodded. - Both of us know that only one of us will come out of this alive, Eraser. And it will not be you. Surprisingly, Susannah saw that Abbi took a few steps forward. Her eyes were glowing with a golden light. - You won't stand alone, brother. I, Phoenix of the World, will aid you. The Eraser stared at Abbi with a frightened look. - Ra? Both of the dragons are awakened? Abbi nodded. -That is as true as my presence here. And know, we shall commence battle. Suddenly, Isaac shook his head. - Not today, Sister Ra. Here, I must stand alone against the Eraser this time. Abbi stared at Isaac, then at the giant orb which was hovering behind the Eraser. She gave Isaac a gaze, and he nodded. Abbi took a few steps back, and stopped next to Susannah. The Eraser turned to Jonah and Richard. - Gabriel, Adam, stay back. This can be quite rough. The boys nodded, and a shock of thoughts exploded through Susannah's head. It's happened... They're just like Nathaniel now... Are they lost? She looked at Isaac, who stared at the Eraser. Isaac had changed much during the last week, Susannah realized. He wasn't that wimpy boy that had always stayed at the back of the class. Now, he was in his natural habitat. Isaac turned to them. - Ra, Nephtys, you should stay back as well. I don't know what might happen, so be careful. Then, suddenly, the Eraser grinned. Black and purple chains emerged from his arms and legs, forming a circle around him and Isaac. He smiled at Isaac. - We shall commence a Horakhtum, Eraser. Isaac closed his eyes, and bright red ropes came out from his back, strapping themselves to the chains. Then, the chains and the ropes melded together, and started to levitate around them. Susannah could see sparks of energy pass around them, and knew that their touch would cause death. Suddenly, Isaac moaned, and Susannah looked at him. She gasped; Isaac's very body had began to alter itself. He grew taller, as tall as the Eraser, and his skin changed. Crimson scales started to spread from his forehead across the body. His clothes torn and shattered, revealing a slender body with the grace of an eagle. Susannah gasped. This was it. The final proof that Isaac was the Red Dragon. Osiris turned to the Eraser, and suddenly a long one-handed blade appeared in his hand. Susannah stared at the blade, while another one appeared in the Eraser's right hand. The Eraser smiled, then rushed towards Osiris with his blade high. Silver Creek MansionApril 26th Mia relaxed a bit. Darren had taken her to a limousine that was parked outside the house, and now they had been driving for about three hours. They had left the city, and came out to the countryside. Soon, they had came to a large forest, and now the car stopped. Mia looked through the window, and gasped. The mansion ahead of her was larger than anything she had seen before. Not impressive in height, perhaps, but in width. The lane itself must cover several square miles, and the mansion at least one. It was built in a 17th Century-style, but must have been built recently. No architect of that century could build anything like that. She stepped out, and closed the car door behind her. Darren had been sitting in the seat in front of her, but hadn't said a word during the entire journey. Instead, Mia had observed him. She hadn't spoken to Darren much during his years at the company, and he hadn't noticed him either. Now, she thought of Darren as quite an odd person. He sometimes nodded silently, and mumbled something. It had seemed almost as if he was speaking to someone. Darren stepped out behind her, and looked in awe at the mansion ahead of them. He smiled. - Quite a view, is it not? Mia nodded. - This must have taken years, if not decades, to build. Just the sheer size would make any architect frightened. Darren laughed briefly. - Anyway, the boss should be awaiting your arrival in his room. Don't worry, each of the guestrooms have a private map of the estate, and there's a map in the central hall. Mia sighed of relief; she thought that she would have to find her way by herself. Darren continued. - The boss' room is just above the main hall, although you'll have to take the spiral stairs. Your room is number five-two-three, on the western branch. However, you should go see Ketitrod first. Mia nodded, and walked away towards one of the stairs. Time to meet the boss. WickspireSpirit Chamber 1418 Eric looked at Aigora. The spirit was troubled, he could see that. Not only did them Perfect Circles slow him down, they also kept him from leaving the room. That old man Leander had also remained there, since Nathaniel had apparently sealed him in here as well. Now, Leander was leaning against the wall, and Aigora was lying down on the floor. The circles hovered around his body, making it look like some sort of altar. Eric sighed. He couldn't stop thinking about what Nathaniel had said. With Jonah in the Eraser's hands, and Aigora here, the Tormentor was under the Dreadroot's control. However, with the loss of Ra, the Dreadroot was falling behind. Aigora grunted, then sat up and looked at Eric. - We can not just sit here doing nothing! I'm Aigora, son of the Tormentor! I should do something! Eric walked up to Aigora, and patted his shoulder. - Calm down, Aigora. There's nothing we can do, remember? We're still sealed up here, and the only way out is if Nathaniel sets us free. - Actually, there is another way. Both Eric and Aigora turned. Leander had spoken. Aigora stared at him. - There is? Then tell us, old man! Leander raised his hand. - Calm down, Aigora, I'll tell you. Before I was sealed in here, I met a man called Jack Underton. At these words, Eric was suddenly hit with a fragment of memories. It was when Nathaniel dueled Jonah, and he was forced to watch it through Nathaniel's eyes. Before the duel, he had seen Jonah with an old man, who then vanished. Leander continued. - He has the ability to teleport through time and space. If we can contact him somehow, he'll be able to get us out of here. Aigora sighed, then slammed his fist at the wall. - That won't do, old man! There is no way we can contact him! Leander shrugged. - You're the one that's the son of a god. You couldn't try and do something, you know. Aigora shook his head. - With these circles stuck on, my power is limited. I'm not sure, but I guess that I could try... Aigora closed his eyes, and frowned. The Perfect Circles started to shiver, and suddenly Aigora turned pale. Eric gasped. - Aah... I can't handle it. Eric... Leander... AAAH! Suddenly, his eyes blanked out and he stared at Leander with an empty, dead look. When he spoke, it was with the voice of someone on the brink of death. - ...Damon? Is that you? Eric saw Leander gasp of relief. - Yes, Jack, it is me. We need your help. Where are you? Jack coughed. - I... I'm dying, Damon. I'm too old for this. I'm older than you now, you know. I can't keep doing this sort of thing. Leander nodded. - I know, Jack, but we need your help. You're the only one that can help us. We're trapped inside the Wickspire, and- Jack hesitated. - The Spire is the last place I would go to, Damon. Even if your lives depend on it. Damon shook his head. - It's not our lives that depend on it, Jack. It's this universe. The Dreadroot has Obelisk, and we're the only ones that can rescue him. Jack was silent for a few seconds, then he spoke again. - You're in more trouble than you think, Damon. The Eraser and the Avatar are battling Osiris and Ra as we speak. And unless they win, this world is truly lost. Damon gasped. - Battling? Where? Redemption City hospitalApril 26th Osiris quickly rose his blade to parry the Eraser's high blow, and their swords clashed with a loud roar that made Susannah took a few staggering steps backwards. Around their blades, flares of red and blue had began to swirl, joining together whenever the blades met. As soon as the blades locked, the flares from each blade started to strike and swing at each other. Susannah looked at Abbi, who calmly looked past the battle at Jonah and Richard. Susannah touched Abbi's shoulder. - What are those flames, Ra? Abbi turned her head - eyes still glowing golden, and looked at Osiris' blade. - Those are fragments of the holder's soul. This swordfight is called Horakhtum, an old way of determining an absolute winner. Osiris held the Eraser's blade in a tight lock, and pushed him towards the chains. As he came closer to them, the chains started to glow. Abbi continued. - Those chains are the Bonds of Horakhtum. If either of the combatants should touch them, the fragments will be trained and they will be forced to generate new ones, which will deplete their energy. Once either combatant dies or gives up, the Horakhtum is over. The Eraser pushed Osiris away from himself, and thrust his blade at the god's chest. When the edge of the blade was just inches away from Osiris' thick scales, flares flew from the blade onto Osiris and spread across his body. Osiris grinned of pain, then stumbled backwards. The Eraser smiled, and swung the broadside of his blade to Osiris' arms hard. More and more flares covered the dragon's body, and the chains behind him, barely a foot away, glowed with an intense red. Osiris looked at the Eraser, his face full of anguish. - How... how could you do this, Eraser? The Eraser smiled. - I thought you would be stronger than this, Osiris. You don't even have the strength to resist my soul? You are but a shell of your former self. The Eraser lowered his blade to the ground, and pushed Osiris in the chest. Osiris lost his balance, and fell on top of the chains. The flames erupted across his body, quickly draining his soul away. His whole body shook violently, and his eyes were wide open. Then, his body sky-rocketed away from the chains, crashing into the Eraser. Osiris' numb body was heavy, even for the Eraser, and he quickly lost his balance and tumbled backwards, towards the chains. Suddenly, Osiris smiled, and took a hard grip around the Eraser's chest. The Eraser gasped. This was the dead man's grip, where dying men and women could crush bones under their last will. Osiris spoke. - You know that neither of us will survive from this battle, Eraser. I am too weakened, but I'm taking you with me. Still in the dead man's grip, the Eraser could barely speak. The Wicked God let out a tempered hiss, then swung his head backwards. His eyes were dead blank. Jonah took a step towards the two combatants. - Master Seerra! Richard walked up to him, and put his hand on Jonah's arm. - It's no use, Adam. He must take this fight alone. Osiris, still holding the Eraser tight, lifted the Wicked God in his arms. Suddenly, Seerra spoke. - You fool... Don't you know what will happen? My body is renewable, but with life comes the price of destruction. If I die... everyone else will die with me. My earthly body will implode, and release waves of the true energy. Neither body nor soul can survive. Osiris nodded. - I know, Seerra. Which is why I must do this. Suddenly, his body began to twist, turning more and more red. Then suddenly, Osiris was Isaac again. The tall, slender body quickly shrunk into the harmless boy that was Isaac Gendevan, suddenly wearing a long, red robe with a black hood. However, there was another presence in the room. Still wrapped tight around Seerra, Susannah could see a red dragon lifting the Wicked God, holding both of them. The dragon nodded at Isaac, and then carried Seerra, above the chains, past Rataval, and out through the hole in the window. The chains vibrated briefly, then fell to the floor and shattered. Susannah and Abbi rushed across the room, past the bed, and stopped next to the golden orb. In the sky outside them, neither Osiris nor Seerra could be seen. Jonah and Richard turned around, out through the hole, but saw nothing. Then, the sky was lit aflame.
