One of them are well known to us, including the so far barely initiated; The Tormentor. He had with him two Servants; A red dragon of Osiris and a golden dragon of Ra. These were gifts given to him by his people, and so he appreciated them dearly. In the meantime, the two dragons began to earn separate followers, and so the three of them became a mighty pantheon. But far beneath, in the Underworld, another god existed. He tortured his slaves and brought terrible fate upon those that should enter his realm unallowed. His name was Dreadroot, since he, much like the Tormentor, was one of the roots of this world. His closest advisor was the Avatar of Wickedness, an orb of concentrated energy, and in battles he would rise a mighty dragon with more than enough power to end the world, but it was kept in hold by the Dreadroot. This dragon was the Eraser, and it slaughtered the enemies of the Root and the Avatar. However, the pantheon of light and the Dreadroot never met, since they live in different realms on different sides of the Multiverse. However, their influence spread widely over the worlds, and in the meantime the forces of light and Dreadroot met. First, they got along with each other. Lived together in grand cities, despite their differences in looks and language. But then they started to argue about the Gods, and soon, the world was in madness and chaos. The wars lasted for a century, until the Prince of Light, fell in battle. The Light was pushed back, realm per realm, and soon the final battle stood at the home of the Pantheon; The Sanctuary in the Sky, a floating realm bringing great power to all that serves the Light. When the allied forces of the Dread, an army of hundred billions of darkness, entered the Sanctuary, Tormentor himself was there. Armed with the Essence of Light, he rushed into the forces of darkness. But even for a God, an army is a tough challenge, and the world cried as the Tormentor fell in battle. However, the Tormentor’s blood runs still, today. All of the heirs of the Tormentor, which turned out to be quite many, managed to escape the Sanctuary and run away to a world which still stood under the influence of the Light Pantheon, even though it had now fallen. There, they came to a small planet with dry surface and many volcanoes. Not far beneath the surface, the magma floated freely. The heirs could see that this world was doomed of failure, unless one of them did something. So, the Tormentor’s youngest child, a young girl named Nephtys, created a holy bird to give life to this planet. She called it “her sacred phoenix” and gave it the job to encourage this world to be something different and make sure for it to spawn something that could stop the Dreadroot. And after that, life passed on. The dry planet calmed down, and sooner or later, life came forth. Primitive as it was at first, this life began to evolve, and as the millenniums passed, they became what today is called humans. That planet was Earth. This fan-fic features dueling, and since I'm not too good at creating personalities, I need some help from you out there. I need duelists for a tournament. Guest Ixigo
Whoa. Sounds like the epic-mythological bunch of winfulness that are works like Silmarillion. If so... mega win. Keep this up, definately interested.
Umbra
This was kinda the Introduction, the rest will be like a normal fanfic with further reference to this later.
Guest Ixigo
*cries* Bah, if your previous work is anything to go by, I'm sure it will be great either way. You know though, it sounded just epic, with the God stuff and all... but I guess your last sentence hints at what you said. Well, I'll wait till you post mroe before I come back with more. Umbra
Don't cry, the prologue will be important in ways I'm sure you'll be able to imagine. And, this one will feature normal dueling rather than the Dm2-system. I like it, but the pictures were hell to make. And this time, I want to make something that is actually related to the actual card game.
Umbra
Chapter One: Warrior Code of Honor - And the match is over, folks! I'm proud to announce the tournament's winner, Jonah Morae! The crowd cheered, everyone shouting and screaming. - Great duel, Jonah!- You're the best I've ever seen!Jonah smiled and walked over to his defeated opponent, a twelve-year-old boy, only three years younger than himself. Even then it had been a tough duel. It had been a great challenge, with several hard trials for Jonah to accomplish, but he managed to win in the end. Just the luck of the draw, I guess. The boy looked at Jonah, then gave him his deck.- I suppose you'd want your card, Mr Morae.Jonah nodded. It was standard Battle City rules, so the loser had to give a card to the winner. Luckily for Jonah, he knew exactly what card he would choose. He had longed for it ever since he first heard of it, and it was in this guy's deck. The deck was mainly about Elemental Heroes, but Jonah's opponent had made excellent use of this card. Jonah looked through the deck, and found it quite quickly. Freed, the Matchless General. Finally. Freed had helped his opponent get Elemental Heroes to his hand so that he could fuse them with Fusion Gate. But now, it's mine.- If Jonah could get up here, so that I'd be able to give him the prize for this tournament?Jonah looked up, and saw the announcer look at him. He nodded at his ex-opponent.- What was your name again? The boy looked up.- The name's Isaac. Isaac Gendevan.- Isaac. You're a great duellist. Keep it up, and you might actually beat me one day.- I can only hope, Mr Morae.- Call me Jonah.Jonah then turned around, and walked up to the announcer.- Well, here he is! Give a big hand, folks, for Jonah Morae!Everyone around clapped their hands and cheered. Jonah was a little embarrassed.- Please, please, I just won a few duels. Nothing to cheer about.- But still, you are the tournament's winner! And therefore, you receive a price as appropriate. Come with me.The announcer opened the door to a booth behind him, and led Jonah inside. At the ceiling there was an uncovered lamp which lit the whole room, and Jonah had a look around. The room didn't have much furniture, just a couple of chairs and a table. On the table lay three tins. Jonah knew instantly that they were the new tins of the year, featuring new cards and powerful monsters. The announcer turned to Jonah.- Your prize lies right there, kid. Take them.Jonah's mouth was wide open.- You mean I can take all three of them? Jonah had knew that there would be a grand prize for the winner, but he hadn't expected it to be this big! - Yes. Take them for keep. After all, you won the entire thing.Jonah walked up to them, and gasped in astonishment. - Oh my god...These weren't this years' tins. These were next years'. Cards that the common people wouldn't see for months. And they were all his. He picked them up, one by one, and went out. Time to go home.As Jonah exited the booth, the crowd cheered again.- What did you get, Jonah?- I suppose the grand prize was grand!Jonah shook his head. They couldn't guess. He left the Duelling Arena, and went back on the way home. I can't believe they got me all three tins for next year! I'm so excited I can't even...Then he smiled.I can't even remember to put it in my backpack instead of carrying them around. He dropped the tins into his bag, but one of them missed and landed on the concrete road and cracked open. The cards were all over the pavement when Jonah knelt down to pick them up, one by one and place them back in the tin. Suddenly, he felt something different. One of the cards was glowing. The sun had just set behind him, so it wasn't that dark, but the card still lit up the area around it. Jonah picked it up, and looked at it. It was a Warrior-type monster, perfect for Jonah's deck, but Jonah was scared by it. The picture looked just like himself, only drawn. The man on the image were however equipped with heavy armour of gold and silver, and with a burning broadsword on the back. Jonah looked at the name, and gasped. What does this mean? The card's name was Jonah. It was just written there, nothing else. Jonah shivered and placed the card back in the tin. Quickly he assembled the rest of the cards, and packed them into his backpack. He shivered, but continued to walk. Umbra
After careful work and much reading on the wikia, here's Chapter Two. Chapter Two: Bonds of Blood Jonah closed the door slowly, and locked it. His mother wouldn't be home for a couple of hours, neither would his father. Jonah didn't care much, he was used to taking care of himself. However, today's events had frightened him. He ran up the stairs and into his room, and shut it behind him. Suddenly he saw a move in the corner of his eye, and looked around. There was someone in his room. The someone in fact was a girl, twelve or thirteen years old, with long, black hair and brown eyes. She was dressed in a simple black dress, and was, for some reason, barefoot. Jonah was frightened by this little girl.- Who are you?! How did you get in here?!The girl leaned her head on her left shoulder.- Sad thing you don't remember me, cousin Jonah. Your mother surely did.Jonah stared at the girl. Cousin? The girl kept on talking.- We met four years ago, at Father's family party. We were talking all the evening. I remember that I liked you.The memory started to come back to Jonah now. His mother's older brother Tim had hosted a family party a few years ago, and he had invited almost everyone. Only a few of them showed up. Jonah's part of the family tree surely did, along with Mam's little brother Richard. Apparently, this girl was one of Tim's kids. She looked at Jonah.- What's in that backpack of yours? Come on, let me see!Jonah smiled, then opened it up and pulled out the three tins. - You've ever played Duel Monsters? The girl shook her head.- Know what it is, though. My brother plays it, though. I know the basics.Jonah nodded.- Then I s'pose you'd want to learn it from a true champion. I won a tournament today. This was my prize. The girl stared at the tins.- My brother was in a tournament here today.- Then I've maybe met him. What's his name? The girl looked at Jonah, and smiled.- His name's Isaac.Jonah gasped. It can't be...- I'm sorry, but I don't remember your name. What was it?- I'm Susannah. Susannah Gendevan. It's from my mother, naturally.Jonah was shocked, but nodded quietly. It's true. She's Isaac's brother! That means, Isaac's also my cousin! I mean, what are the odds! - Susannah, I have an idea. These tins should contain about thirty cards each. How about we make a deck for you?Susannah shook her head, and picked up a small bag from the floor. Within it, Jonah could see some clothes, including a pyjamas. Apparently, Susannah didn't intend to sleep at home. She picked up a paper holder, and within it, a deck.- I have my own. We could have a duel, you know. I know you have a deck.Jonah smiled. Apparently, this girl was more eager to duel than he was. A good duellist is always ready for a new opponent. He briefly shuffled his heck, then watched Susannah do the same. - You can go first, Susannah. Guests go first.Jonah drew five cards, and watched Susannah draw six. She smiled.- I'll activate Pot of Greed. So I'll draw two new cards. And so she did. As she drew the final card, she smiled.- I'll set two cards face-down, and end it there.-No monsters? Jonah drew a new card. Susannah smiled.- With my hand, I don't need any monsters.Jonah smiled.- That should be settled, then. I'll summon Marauding Captain (1200/400) in Attack Position. And with his effect, I Special Summon Command Knight (1200/1900) from my hand. But that's not all.Jonah smiled, but Susannah smiled back.- I know. When Command Knight's out, the ATK of all Warrior-type monsters increase by 400. (Marauding Captain 1200 -> 1600, Command Knight 1200 -> 1600)Exactly. Command Knight, attack her directly!Susannah shook her head.- Don't think so. Activate Embodiment of Apophis! To summon Embodiment of Apophis to my side of the field in Attack Position! (1600/1800) So your Command Knight's attack is redirected to my Embodiment.Jonah was confounded.- But they're equal. How can that help?Susannah smiled.- I'm surprised you fell for this, Jonah. It's the oldest trick in the book. Activate Reverse Trap!- No!(Command Knight 1600 -> 800 vs Embodiment of Apophis 1600. Command Knight is destroyed, Jonah takes 800 points of damage, drops to 3200. Marauding Captain's ATK drops to 1200.)Jonah smiled. Susannah is gaining an advantage. She's quite good. - I'll end my turn with a face-down. That's it.Susannah drew a card.-I'll play Razor Lizard in Attack Position. (1500/300) Embodiment destroys your Marauding Captain.(Marauding Captain 1200 vs Embodiment of Apophis 1600, Marauding Captain is destroyed. Jonah loses 400 Life Points, drops to 2800.)- And then Razor Lizard will attack you directly. (Jonah loses 1500 Life Points, drops to 1300)At this point, Jonah became nervous. In only two turns, Susannah had managed to drop him into a fatal position. Check, you might call it. If Jonah did nothing next turn, he would have lost. Susannah smiled at Jonah's grief.- I'll end my turn there. Make your move, big boy.Jonah growled, then drew a card. He smiled. - That's it. The duel's over.Susannah was concerned.- You surrender?Jonah smiled again, then shook his head.- Opposite. I win. I'll begin by summoning Gearfried the Iron Knight in Attack Mode. (1800/1600)Susannah nodded.- I know Warrior decks enough to know what's coming up. If I'm guessing right, you're using Black Pendant to deal me some damage, then charge up.Jonah shook his head.- Different. Gearfried's not staying for long. Not that armor, at least. I'll play Release Restraint and tribute Gearfried to summon Gearfried the Swordmaster ! (2600/2200) Now, I'll use Black Pendant, on the other hand, along with Fusion Sword Murasame Blade! So, his ATK increases by 1300 points! (Gearfried: 2600 -> 3900)Susannah stared at Gearfried the Swordmaster.- Such a powerful monster!Jonah smiled.- And it gets worse. When Gearfried is equipped with an Equip Spell Card, I can destroy 1 monster on the field. And since he now has two Equip Cards, both of your monsters are gone.Susannah let out a shriek.- But that leaves me wide open!- Exactly. Gearfried, attack! (Gearfried attacks. Susannah drops to 100 Life Points.) Now, it's your turn. Do what you can. Susannah nodded, then drew a new card. - I'll summon Rigulas Reaper in Attack Position, and another Set card. Your turn.Jonah drew a card.- I'll place a monster face-down, then...He looked at the card in his hand. Shooting Star Bow – Ceal... If I'll use this, I win! But do I want that...- I'll attack your Rigulas with Gearfried.Susannah smiled.- Time to meet an old friend, Jonah. Activate Reverse Trap!Jonah smiled. - I knew there was a reason you played that monster in Attack Position. You wanted me to attack so that you would get rid of Gearfried. But I was prepared.- What?- Remember that face-down card I set a few turns ago? Well, here it is! Altar for Tribute! So, instead of attacking, I'll Tribute Gearfried to gain a few Life Points! (Jonah's Life Points become 1300 -> 3900. Susannah's Life Points drop to 0.)- What? Susannah looked confounded.- How did I lose?Jonah smiled.- Black Pendant, remember? When it goes to the Graveyard...- ... I take 500 points of damage. Knew I missed something.Jonah smiled.- Still, you're a far better duellist than your brother.Susannah looked up at the mention of her brother. She smiled.- You really think so? Thank you, Jonah.- I don't think so, I know so. Your brother never got me below 2000 Life Points. You did that in two turns. Try to duel him sometimes. He should be surprised.Jonah looked at her bag.- Where are you going? At this point, Susannah blushed.- Actually... I ran away. We had some problems at home, and I couldn't stay there. This was the first place I thought of, so I came here. I remembered how nice you and Aunt Mia had been to me over the years, so I came here. I've already set everything with your mother.Jonah was shocked.- You ran away?- Relax, my parents are bound to know of it by now. I'll be here a few days, tops. Besides, I won't be much trouble.Jonah sighed. Cousin Susannah in the house. Well, I had a feeling this year will be special. Guest Ixigo
Hmm. I have some issues with it. 1st chapter: Well, in your narration, you don't just say words like "owned" etc. A character may use such expressions, but not you, as a narrator. And the room looked kind of a... strange place... to give someone a tournament prize. But after all, considering what ended up happening, I guess it's not that strange. I was a little disappointed that you led us deep in the plot first chapter on, without some sort of introduction of the characters first (I guess that happens in the next chapter =/). But oh well, I guess you know what you are doing. 2nd chapter: WTF?? "- You've ever played Duel Monsters? The girl shook her head." "Jonah smiled.- Still, you're a far better duellist than your brother." How can a person who's never played duel monsters be this good? It doesn't make any sense. Other than that, I don't have any issues. What exactly is the Codic Riddle? (not how you're supposed to solve it, I already figured that out I think, just don't want to reveal it here) Is it a spoiler, the title, what? Also, what do you mean, "need duelists"? Do you want us to make duelists for you? If so, is there a specific pattern you wish us to follow, or just name, appearance, deck and anything else we want to add? Well, as for your rating... -Plot: 8/10 (I was kinda disappointed by lack of at least one character introduction chapter, but oh well. And I know it was the same in IotW, but it was a different style there, so I had no issue with it)-Characters: 9/10 (Great. They need more depth, but it's too early yet, so you get the high rating)-Grammar/Syntax/Structure: 9/10 (Aside from the problem I mentioned, there are little-to-no flaws. Maybe try extending your use of vocabulary a little bit)-Description: 8.5/10 (Very good. No specific complaints, just make it a tad bit longer and more... descriptive)-Dueling: 8/10 (Well, nothing special so far. We'll just have to wait and see)-Overall: 8.5 (I can't say this has me as hooked up as IotW, but it's still top-notch quality)
Umbra
I have a response to your second issue. You can't always assume Susannah tells the truth. As for the codic riddle, it's just a few words that should be related to the upcoming chapter. The first "issue" about the Booth is that they want to keep these tins a secret, and therefore, they stash it in a hidden place. I can tell you one thing, though. This wasn't the grand prize. And the duellist thing, I've edited first post with the form.

Umbra
A few hours later, Jonah and Susannah had duelled a few more times. Susannah had actually won a few times, and several times Jonah had found himself cornered. Then, only the luck of the draw had given him a way out. They heard the door slam on the down floor.- Jonah!Jonah sighed. It was his mother. He walked out of his room, Susannah following close by, and down the stairs. When they got down, his mother smiled.- I seen you've already met your cousin. She hasn't been any trouble, right?Susannah giggled.- No, I've been nice, aunt Mia. Jonah's teached me to play the card game that him and the brother o' mine plays.Mia smiled.- I take it you're a natural good, then. Jonah normally doesn't bother with teaching people that doesn't know how to play in the first place.- I've seen my brother play, and I've trained a lot on myself.Jonah suddenly got an idea.- Susannah, know what? The tournament me and your brother's in is still up. I only won a sub-tournament, a part of it. That only means I have a place in the finals. What would you say of participating? The tournament's still open, as far as I know.Susannah let out a little shriek of happiness. - You really think I can? Let's go, then! We don't want my future opponents to keep waiting.Jonah's mother was concerned.- It's way past sunset. It'll be dark and freezing out there, Jonah. What do you say about resting here first, and go out there first thing tomorrow?Susannah and Jonah were disappointed, but nodded.- Perhaps that's a good idea. We'll need to be fully rested for the tournament. It's only good if we get some sleep.- But where am I supposed to sleep, aunt Mia?Jonah's mother hummed, then snapped her fingers.- You can have Eric's old room. It's up and to the right.Eric was Jonah's older brother. He's twenty-four, and lives in New York with his girlfriend. Jonah thought they were engaged, but couldn't remember. Susannah nodded.- That'll be fine. I've packed my own sheets and stuff, so I'll just go and set it up.Mia hugged Susannah.- Are you sure you're alright, Susannah? I couldn't believe Tim could do something like this. I'll make it alright again, Susannah. I'll promise.Susannah smiled, but Jonah could see that she was almost crying. - I'll be fine, auntie. She pat Mia on the back. - I'll be fine.Jonah's mother smiled.- If you say so, girl.Susannah turned around and walked up the stairs.- I'll just get my bag from Jonah's room. She walked into Jonah's room, and closed the door. Jonah's mother smiled.- She's a fine girl, that Susannah. She's just like Tim was when he was her age. Always trying to make people happy. You take care of her, Jonah.Jonah sighed.- She's my cousin, Mam, not my girlfriend. We'll both take care of her.She nodded.- Still, you take care of her tomorrow during the tournament. I'll be around there, but you'll have to be with her. I have things to do.On the above floor, Jonah could hear Susannah get out of his room and get into his brother's old room. He nodded.- Don't worry, Mam. I'll look after her.- Good. Now, get up to your room. I looked in there this morning, and you really need to make your bed.- Mam!- It looks like someone dropped a bombshell in there, Jonah. Now go! Jonah growled and walked up the stairs and went into his room. His mother was exaggerating; it wasn't that bad. Better than usually, at least. He quickly made his bed, but when he walked around it, he accidentally touched one of the tins that had fallen down on the floor, and jumped at least two feet. The tin was burning hot. - Holy mother of...Jonah sat down, and picked up the tin. It wasn't as hot now, but still warm. Jonah expected what was to come, but opened the tin anyway. He was right, but was still shocked. The card ... it has changed! The card's image was the same and it still had the strange red glow, but now it's name was Heir of the Tormentor. Jonah shivered. What does this mean?He looked at the card. It was a very good card, but Jonah was afraid to use it. Then, he shook his head.- I can't be afraid of a card! What am I, seven? He then picked up his deck, looked through it, and picked up Warrior of Zera. He then took it out of it's sleeve and placed Heir of the Tormentor there instead. His deck began to vibrate, and Jonah almost dropped it on the floor. What in the world is this? Suddenly, the vibrating stopped. Jonah was terrified, but calmed down. I'm just tired, he told himself. Just tired. He placed his deck next to his bed, and fell asleep before he hit the pillow. The following morning, Jonah woke up at 8.30. Dawn had passed by several hours, he knew, and therefore, his mother would already be ready to go to work. Had probably already left. He quickly got dressed, and got down. To his surprise, Susannah was there, along with his mother, eating breakfast and talking about something. When Jonah came down, Susannah turned to him.- Good morning, sleepyhead. We've been here for hours.Jonah gasped.- You know it's summer break now, right? We don't have to get up at...Susannah filled him in.- ...7.15.- 7.15, that's right. We can afford some sleep.Mia smiled.- Well, I'll let you two finish your breakfast alone, because I'll have to go to work. See you later, kids.Mia rose from the table, fully dressed, and went out the door. Jonah could hear the car start outside, and soon it was gone. Susannah smiled.- Aunt's been really nice to me, she has. She's a good woman.Jonah nodded. He walked down the final part of the stairs, since he had stopped in the mid, and together they finished the breakfast in silence. About half an hour later, after all the necessary work had been done, Jonah and Susannah left the house, locked the door, and walked down the street. A cold, but fresh summer breeze went down the street, and Susannah smiled. - Such a nice day. Wish Isaac were here, though. Don't know where he's staying, you know. Probably at some hotel.Jonah shook his head. A twelve-year-old living alone in a hotel? Don't think so.- I think he's staying with some friend. Anyway, the signup office is right here.Jonah stopped outside a large steel building with no corporate logos on the walls. Just above the door, a sign with the words “Industrial Illusions Corp.” were significantly placed. - Come on, I think they just've opened. Shouldn't take too long to sign up.Susannah looked scared at first, but then she smiled and both of them entered the building. Umbra
Once inside, the building looked entirely different. The steel walls were replaced with wooden, and the floor was made of glass. Under it, Jonah and Susannah could see running water. Surely an expensive design. The room was quite big, around 50 square meters, but only a few people were there. One of them, a man with brown hair and glasses, came up to them.- Hello there. The name's Fredrick. You have any questions about the Tournament?Jonah shook his head.- My cousin 'ere is signing up. Where can we get the papers?Fredrick looked very worried all of a sudden, and started to adjust his shirt.- Actually, we only use the papers in the first day. Anyone who enters later will have to prove their performance before.Jonah could see where this was going, but Susannah was the one that responded.- So I'll have to duel someone to get in the tournament? The man nodded, and Susannah shrugged.- Alright then. Bring it on.Fredrick smiled at Susannah.- Both of you, follow me. I'll get a Duel Disk for the girl, and you can watch, Mr...Jonah nodded.- Morae. Jonah Morae.Ok, Mr Morae. Come here.- He led them behind a desk, and through a door. On the other side of the door was a large rack of Duel Disks on each wall, and the man picked up two of them.- Here they are. Ready to begin?Susannah tilted her head.- Who am I duelling?Me. I'm a qualified examiner for the tournament.- Ok, we'll take it outside. The employee, Susannah and Jonah left the room, and stepped out on the glass floor. On the way there, Susannah whispered quietly to Jonah.- Wish me luck.Jonah nodded, and Susannah turned and walked out on the glass floor. Susannah and her opponent stood about ten-fifteen feet away from each other, and loaded their decks into the Duel Disks.- You can go first, miss.Susannah drew six cards, and watched the man draw five.- I'll place three cards face-down, and Set a monster. Your turn. The man drew a card.- I'll summon Crystal Beast Ruby Carbuncle in Attack Position. (300/300) Then I'll activate Ancient City – Rainbow Ruins. The area around them began to change, showing an arena made of sandstone around them.- Then, I'll end my turn with a face-down.Susannah drew a new card.- I'll Flip Summon my Venom Serpent! (500/500) And for it's effect, I place a Venom Counter on your Ruby Carbuncle! A green orb appeared above the Ruby Carbuncle. - Then, I'll go for activating my two face-down cards, two Embodiments of Apophis! Which summons two Embodiments of Apophis (1600/1800) to my side of the field.Suddenly, Jonah realized something. Susannah's going to win this in her second turn! If I know Venom Decks right, she's either going to activate Venom Swamp or Venom Burn. Then he realized something else. She told me that she never had duelled before when I first met her, and here she's beating an Industrial Illusions examiner in her second round? Either she learns extremely quickly, or there's something she hasn't told me yet. He looked at Susannah. - Now for my last and final face-down, Venom Burn. It spares your monster from the Venom Counter, but instead you take 700 points of damage.(Fredrick's Life Points drop to 3300, the Venom Counter vanishes.)- Impressive move, young girl.- It's getting worse. Venom Serpent, attack Ruby Carbuncle!(Ruby Carbuncle is destroyed, Fredrick loses 200 Life Points and drops to 3100.)Fredrick smiled.- Because of it's effect, Ruby Carbuncle comes back to my Spell/Trap Card Zone as a Continuous Spell Card. And therefore, I can activate my face-down card, Crystal Raigeki! By sending Ruby Carbuncle to the Graveyard, all your monsters are destroyed.Ruby Carbuncle turned into a red crystal, but automatically exploded and covered the field in smoke. When the smoke vanished, both of the Embodiments and Venom Serpent was gone. Susannah gasped.- My monsters! I'll end my turn there.Fredrick drew a card.- I'll summon Crystal Beast Sapphire Pegasus in Defense Position. Its effect allows me to return my Ruby Carbuncle as a Spell Card. Your turn.Susannah drew a card, then she smiled.- I'll summon Granadora (1900/700) in Attack Position. It's effect gives me 1000 Life Points. (4000 + 1000 -> 5000) Now, Granadora attacks your Pegasus.(Pegasus is destroyed)- And of course, it comes back as a Spell Card on my side of the field.Susannah smiled.- And now, I'll activate Snake Rain! Which allows me to send 4 Reptile-type monsters in my deck to the Graveyard, as long as I discard a card from my hand.Susannah looked through her deck, and selected 4 cards. Then, she discarded a card and placed these cards on top of it. Fredrick was confounded.- Why did you do that?Susannah smiled.- Oh, you'll see. You'll see. I end my turn.Fredrick drew a card.- I summon my Crystal Beast Topaz Tiger! (1600/1000) Now, Topaz Tiger attacks your Granadora. Topaz Tiger charged up at Granadora, and it's claws were glowing. It slashed Granadora, which was cut to bits. (Susannah drops to 4900)- I guess you want to know what just happened. When Topaz Tiger attacks one of your monsters, it's ATK is increased by 400 points. - And when Granadora is destroyed, I take 2000 points of damage. But at least I have another Reptile in my Graveyard.(Susannah drops to 2900)Fredrick looked concerned, but didn't say anything.- I'll end it there.Susannah drew a card.- Just the card I was hoping for. I have three of them in my deck, so I should've expected it. I activate Premature Burial to get back one of the monsters I discarded! More exactly, my Vennominon!(0/0)Fredrick was frightened. Vennominon was perhaps not among the rarest cards in the world, but it was a strong monster.- And now, Vennominon gains a little boost, of 500 ATK and DEF for every Reptile in my Graveyard! I count the other three I discarded for my Snake Rain, the Venom Boa I discarded to activate it, my two Embodiments, my Venom Serpent, and my Granadora. With a total of seven! (0/0 -> 3500/3500)- I'll have to pay 800 Life Points to activate Premature Burial, but it doesn't matter. (Susannah drops to 1300) Vennominon, attack his Topaz Tiger! - I'll activate the effect of my Rainbow Ruins, which halves the Battle Damage I take from your attack.(Topaz Tiger is destroyed, Fredrick loses 1900/2 = 950 Life Points, and drops to 2350.)And of course, my Topaz comes back as a Spell Card.I'll end my turn there. Jonah was both astonished and concerned. Susannah had managed to summon Vennominon a few times during the duels they had yesterday, but never before had it been this strong. But this definitely concluded what he had thought before. Susannah was lying to him. She was a far better duellist than she had shown in both the duels against him and what she had told him. I'll need to speak to her when the duel's over. Fredrick drew a card, and looked at it carefully.- I'll play Crystal Beacon! So I'll Special Summon Crystal Beast Emerald Tortoise in Defense. (600/2000) And for the Normal Summon, I'll play Crystal Beast Cobalt Eagle in Defense. (1400/800) Your turn.Susannah drew a card.- I'll set off with Venom Swamp. Which not only decreases any monsters' ATK by 500 points for each Venom Counter on them and destroys them if it should reach 0, but it also gets rid of your Rainbow Ruins. The ancient ruins faded away, to be replaced with a green swamp with poisonous fumes. - And then, Vennominon attacks your Cobalt Eagle. Your turn.(Cobalt Eagle is destroyed, returns as a Continuous Spell Card.)Fredrick began to look nervous, but drew a card. He smiled.- I'll activate Crystal Blessing! It allows me to bring back my Ruby Carbuncle from my Graveyard, but now as a Continous Spell Card.(Ruby Carbuncle appeared)- Which means, I have, on my field as spell cards, Ruby Carbuncle, Cobalt Eagle, Sapphire Pegasus, and Topaz Tiger. And, on the field as monsters, my Emerald Tortoise. So now, I'll summon Crystal Beast Amber Mammoth in Defense. (1700/1600) Then, I'll end my turn.As he said this, his Emerald Tortoise exploded and was destroyed. It came back as a Spell Card, but Fredrick stared at it.- What happened?Susannah smiled.- Seems like you forgot something. During each of our End Phases, Venom Swamp drains the ATK of all monsters by 500 points by placing a Venom Counter on them. My Vennominon is targeted aswell, but he's immune. And your Tortoise just dropped below 0. Therefore, it was destroyed. But since your Spell Zone's full, your Mammoth won't become a Spell Card. Vennominon, destroy Amber Mammoth! (Amber Mammoth is destroyed)- Now, I'll end my turn by placing one card face-down. Your move.- It'll be the last turn. I'll use Graceful Charity! So I'll draw three cards, and discard two. Now, it's grand summoning time! Since I have seven Crystal Beasts with different names in my field and Graveyard, I can summon Rainbow Dragon! (4000/0)Susannah stared at the dragon, then shrugged. - I'm not afraid. Go for whatever you intend to do.Rainbow Dragon, destroy Vennominon! (Rainbow Dragon 4000 vs Vennominon 3500.)Susannah smiled.- I thought you'd do that. Activate Trap! Ambush Fangs! The Rainbow Dragon was suddenly attacked by a red snake, and it stopped.- Ambush Fangs block off your Rainbow Dragon, ends your Battle Phase, and places a Venom Counter on it, which decreases it's ATK to 3500. You done there?Fredrick growled.- I'll end it there.Another Venom Counter appeared above Rainbow Dragon, decreasing it's ATK to 3000. Susannah drew a card.- I'll activate Venom Shot.I'll discard a Venom Serpent from my deck, and place 2 Venom Counters on your Rainbow Dragon. Which means, my Vennominon gains another 500 points. (3500/3500 -> 4000/4000)Rainbow Dragon now had 4 Venom Counters, and dropped to 2000 ATK. - Then, I'll end it there.Another Counter on Rainbow Dragon, dropping it's ATK to 1500. Fredrick drew a card, and smiled. - Now, I'll destroy your Vennominon and end this duel. You won't be in the tournament, I can say that. At this point, Jonah was almost as confounded about Fredrick as about Susannah. The calm and nervous man they had met in the doorway who looked like he could jump at the sight of a bug had now turned into a fierce duelling engine that wanted to defeat Susannah at all costs. Jonah stared at Susannah, and saw she was scared. He shivered. He was scared aswell. - I'll activate Rainbow Dragon's effect! I'll destroy all Crystal Beasts on my side of the field, and increase it's ATK by 1000 points for each of them! And that's a grand total of 5000 points! (Rainbow Dragon 1500 -> 6500) Jonah stared at the Dragon. If Susannah does nothing now, she'll be done for! However, Susannah was calm.- I thought you had something like that in mind. You know why I got all those counters on your Dragon?Fredrick glared at her. - To weaken it, of course! She shook her head.- Not only to. Activate Venom Burn! Like the name suggests, it burns off the Venom Counters from your Rainbow Dragon, raising it's ATK again.(Rainbow Dragon 6500 -> 10000)- Why would you do that?Susannah shook her head in disappointment.- 'cause of the other effect, of course. You take 700 points of damage for each Venom Counter removed. I win.- Noooo!(Fredrick's LP drops by 3500 points, and stops at 0. Duel is over.) Umbra
Susannah watched Fredrick as the holographic images faded. The examiner seemed more furious than ever, and stepped up to Susannah.- You know what you have done, girl? You have humiliated me in front of the entire workforce here! You have ashamed me!Susannah shrugged.- Don't care much, you know. Just give me the papers for the tournament and I'll be off.- Don't think so, girl. I won't let you in now. You were supposed to just prove that you were worthy, not actually win. Even if you hadn't used Venom Burn, I'd let you in because you were such a good duellist. But now? Dream on, kid.Jonah, who had walked up to them during the conversation, became angry and stepped up to Fredrick.- Think again, Examiner. Susannah here's a great duellist, and you'll let her in the tournament.- Or else?Fredrick smiled, but Jonah smiled back.- Or else I'll have you fired. My mother works here, you know. I'll just let her talk to her superiors about your flaws in work here today, and they'll fire you before you'll even notice.- Like I believe you, kid. What was your mother's name?Jonah nodded.- Mia Morae.Fredrick stared at him.- You're Mia's kid?Jonah could see that Fredrick was afraid. He smiled.- I thought I already said that. Now, get Susannah in the tournament or I will have you fired.Fredrick was concerned, but nodded.- Alright, she's in. I'll just get the papers so that she can sign.Fredrick walked away, behind the desk. In the meantime, Susannah turned to Jonah.- So. How did I do?Jonah laughed and smiled.- You did great, Susannah.Susannah hugged him.- If it hadn't been for you, I'd never been here. I'd never been in the tournament right now if it hadn't been for you. I owe you, cousin. Big time.- You were the one that did all the work. That Vennominon was surely impressive. I mean, a thirty-fivehundred ATK monster in your second turn? Most professional players wouldn't be able to do that.- You got a thirty-nine hundred in your second turn when we first met.- Doesn't matter. I've worked on my Code of Honour deck for as long as I can remember. Then, Fredrick came again. He held a paper in his right hand. He seemed much calmer now.- I'm sorry for my behaviour back there. It was just... I haven't lost a duel the last couple of months. I just got upset.Susannah nodded.- It's ok. We can all get upset. That's what makes us humans.Fredrick smiled.- I thought that was the reversed thumb.- Works for me. Anyway, where'm I supposed to sign?Fredrick held out the paper, and gave it to Susannah. - Just write your full name, gender, and decktype.Susannah took the paper and quickly began to write. A few seconds later, she handed it back. Fredrick looked at it.- Susannah Gendevan, eh? I met your brother here a few days ago when he signed up. He was late also, and he and I met in a duel. I can see now that your family's a bunch of great duellists. I think it's in your blood. A few minutes later, Susannah and Jonah exited the building. Susannah was excited.- Jonah, where do people duel?Jonah shrugged.- Anywhere they want. That's what the Duel Generators are for.Jonah lifted up his right hand, and showed Susannah a metal blade attached to his wrist.- They work like the Duel Disks, but are fifty percent smaller and are easier to carry.Susannah nodded. She had been given one aswell, and now strapped it to her left wrist.- Alright, I can't wait to get it started!Suddenly, Susannah saw a girl a few years older than herself, probably sixteen or seventeen, strapping a Duel Generator to her wrist aswell. She had long, black hair, but with a twist of blue which fell over her face.- And I won't, either. She ran up to the girl, and Jonah followed. - Hello there, you. Care for a duel? The girl looked at Susannah, then at Jonah.- I don't think so, girl. How about you then, Morae?Jonah smiled. Probably, a few people had heard of him since he won that first sub-tournament.- I'd be glad to. What's your name, girl?- The name's Flora.Jonah nodded, but Susannah glared at him.- Jonah, this was s'posed to be my duel! You can't just come in and take it!Jonah smiled.- You can take the next one, Suzie.- Suzie!?- I thought you'd like it.Jonah suddenly saw that Flora were smiling at them.- Sibling rivalry, I guess?- We're cousins, actually. But let's start the duel, shall we?Flora nodded.- I'll go first, if that's alright with you.- It's ok.Jonah and Flora pulled up their decks, and attached them to the Duel Generators. Susannah growled.- I should be the one doing that, she muttered to herself.Flora smiled at her hand.- I'll start by summoning The Forgiving Maiden in Defense Position, along with two face-downs. Your go, Morae.- Call me Jonah. He drew a card, and stared at it. It was Heir of the Tormentor, and it was glowing red. - I'll summon Marauding Captain (1200/400) in Attack Position. Then, I'll use his effect to summon Heir of the Tormentor (1700/500) in Attack Position. Then, I'll activate The A. Forces. So the ATK of all my Warriors go up by 400 points. (1200 ->1600, 1700 -> 2100)- Now, Heir of the Tormentor attacks your Maiden. Flora shook her head.- Nope. I'll activate Miracle Summon. By giving up 1000 Life Points, I can Normal Summon a monster. (Flora drops to 3000)And then, your attack is redirected to that card. And I'll sacrifice Maiden to summon Tethys, the Goddess of Light! (2400/1800) So, your Heir is going down!(Heir of the Tormentor 2100 vs Tethys, the Goddess of Light 2400. Heir is destroyed, Jonah loses 300 Life Points. Drops to 3700) - Good move, Flora. I'll end my turn there.Flora drew a card.- I drew my Marie the Fallen One. And since she's a Fairy, and Tethys is out, I can draw a new card. And now, i'll summon Nurse Reficule the Fallen One (1400/600) in Attack Position. Now, Tethys, destroy Marauding Captain! (Marauding Captain is destroyed, Jonah loses 1200 Life Points. Drops to 2500.) And then, Reficule attacks you directly! (Jonah loses 1400 Life Points, drops to 1100) Your turn, Jonah. Jonah drew a card.- I'll now activate the effect of Heir of the Tormentor. By removing Marauding Captain from play, he comes back from the grave!- What?Heir of the Tormentor appeared on the field. (ATK: 1700 -> 2000)- And, his ATK increases by 300 points each time. And because of my A.Forces, his ATK becomes even higher! (2000 -> 2200)Flora smiled.- Tethys is still stronger, you know. You don't stand a chance.- Not currently, perhaps, but things change. I summon Command Knight from my hand!(Command Knight: ATK 1200)Flora sighed.- A monster with only 1200 ATK points? Are you sure?- Look again, Flora. (Command Knight 1200 -> 2000, Heir of the Tormentor 2200 -> 2800)- What?- When Command Knight's out, the ATK of all Warrior-type monsters increase by 400 points. And because of the A.Forces, they gain an extra 200 points aswell. Now, it's time to attack! My Heir goes for your Goddess! (Tethys is destroyed, Flora loses 400 Life Points. Drops to 2600)And then, Command Knight attacks your Nurse!(Reficule is destroyed, Flora loses 600 Life Points. Drops to 2000)Flora stared at the monsters, then at Jonah, and then at the cards in her hand. Then, she smiled. - You think you got it all sorted out? That you'll win now?Suddenly, Jonah was worried. It had indeed gone well so far, but now, Flora looked like she had drawn her trump card. - I'll summon Tualatin from my hand! (2800/2500) And I'll choose DARK!Suddenly, Heir of the Tormentor was destroyed. - Surprised? When Tualatin's out, I select an Attribute and destroy all monsters on the field with the same Attribute. Also, you can't summon any monsters with that Attribute any more. So, now your Heir is finished for good. And so, your Command Knight is weakened. (2000 -> 1800) Now, Tualatin attacks Command Knight! (Command Knight is destroyed, Jonah loses 1000 Life Points. Drops to 100.)Jonah was terrified. This girl is good, better than most people. And that Tualatin... Now that she's immobilized my Heir, I only have one option. He drew a card.- I'll play a monster in face-down Defense Position, and end my turn.Flora smiled as she drew a new card.- Scared of Tualatin, Jonah? Well, you don't have to be for long. Because it won't be there alone. I'll activate Monster Reincarnation, discard my Marshmallon, and get my Forgiving Maiden back to my hand. Then, I'll activate Polymerization, to fuse Maiden with Marie the Fallen One to summon St. Joan! (2800/2000) And for the final move, I'll remove Maiden and Tethys in my Graveyard from play to summon Soul of Purity and Light! (2000/1800)Now, Tualatin attacks your face-down card! Created Cards: Miracle SummonTrap CardThis card can only be activated when your opponent declares an attack. Pay 1000 Life Points to activate this card. Normal Summon 1 monster from your hand. Guest Ixigo
Whoa. Great improvements there. I'm impressed. Notes: I thought Rainbow Dragon was this uber-extreme, uber-rare card O_o ;>_>. Well, I have no idea where and when this fanfic takes place compared to the series, or if it's a completely alternate universe, so it doesn't really matter. Again, I kind of lol'd at Jonnah, thinking how Suzie's ("- Suzie!?" = best line so far ^_^) been lying to him all the time, and how he should find out the truth, and then he just... forgets about it, lol. Also, Fredrick's over-reaction was a bit funny, but I guess that was one of the points. Well, other than that... I liked the improvement on characters, and the new ones, great job on Flora btw, her personality matches how I had envisioned it, even if I didn't write anything about it. Liking the duels, they seem to involve more strategy and tactic than before. Well the plot is nothing special as of yet, so I'll just have to wait. -Plot: 7.5/10 (I'd have expected some things to pick up by now... but it's going good, just maybe up the pace just a little bit)-Characters: 9.5/10 (Like them. The way you present them is great)-Grammar/Syntax/Structure: 9/10 (Well, it's sweet as. Keep it up)-Description: 8.5/10 (Not bad. Same as previous rating)-Dueling: 8.5/10 (Improving, but it's nothing ingenius as in your IotW fic)-Overall: 8.8 (It has improved, as you kept writing it. Not as good as IotW yet, but it has a lot of potential. I know you can make something great out of this.) One complaint: why did you stop updating IotW? =(
Umbra
Thank you. It takes place more like Real Life, where Rainbow Dragon's just a holographic rare in TAEV. So it's really just normal life. One complaint: why did you stop updating IotW? =( I've just wanted to focus on LoT for a while. I'll update it soon enough.
