Yu-Gi-Oh! Elemental Academy (PG-13) - [Chapter 2 Available]

Recommended Posts
Setting]

Elemental Academy takes place in the year 2010 in the United States.
Like the original Duel Academy, the students are divided into ranks. Before they are assigned their dorm and rank, they have to take a “placement test” a month before the school year begins. The test is taken in a small facility away from the academy itself. Whatever they scored on the test determines their dorm/rank. The dorms are named with a color/element that represents it.

Their rank in their respective dorms is determined in the beginning by their entrance exam scores. After the term begins, it will be determined by how they score on their respective assignments.

Gale Blue (Wind) = 90% or better

Thunder Yellow (Lightning) = 80-89%

Lava Red (Lava/Fire) = 70-79%

Stone Brown (Earth) = Anything below 70%
Personality/Background: Jason comes from a family that's into playing Yugioh. He has been ranked #1 at his locals and placing in the top 10 in nationals for the past four years. But he has become bored as every year as he has to play the same people again and again, so he couldn't improve his duelist skills. Recently, his parents saw his ambition to become stronger and suggested that he'd enroll at Elemental Academy to improve his skills and make them proud to have one of the family enrolled in the prestigious academy.
Dorm: Stone Brown

Age: 17

Personality/Background: Giryu dislikes people that made it up to the Gale Blue dorm only by doing well on the placement exams. In a way, he has a form of arrogance in thinking he is number one. He got a poor grade on his placement test and as such, was placed into the lowest dorm on campus. Giryu has a dislike for both Jason and Posie, because they are in the Gale Blue dormitory, whilst he is stuck as a Stone Brown. He wants to prove that they don't deserve to be there and he firmly believes that they cheated their way to the top.
Teacher

Age: 32

Background: Simply the presenter of the orientation at Elemental Academy and also the first teacher the students meet. (more will be added)

There are more characters in this fan fiction, however I will add their profiles once they make their debut. Existing characters may have their background extended as the story progresses.

And now without further ado, here is Elemental Academy.
Prologue]

The famed Central Duel Academy, or known simply as DA has always been the top school for aspiring duelists to attend to achieve their dreams of becoming legendary duelists like Yugi and Kaiba. But now, that has all changed with the creation of the Elemental Academy, the first school to not only incorporate the art of dueling in their curriculum, but also include classes that would result in high school and college credits after completion. This is the Elemental Academy, a place that incorporates all of the new duelist terminology from Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds and also the classics. Students strive to attain the fame and glory held by the current King of Games.
Chapter 1- Welcome to Elemental Academia]

April 30, 2010 – 8:15 AM

It was an ordinary day in the city of Ewa Beach, where the new Duel Academy was located. All was very ordinary, except for a fifteen-year old boy carrying a Duel Disc running down the street.

Jason Kiriyazuki was a 15-year old boy wearing a blue T-shirt and jeans. He was anxious for his first day at Elemental Academy, the new academy built specifically for the art of dueling. During the night before, he had stayed up late to prepare his books and paperwork for his first day.

"I can't wait to start my first day at Elemental Academy", he said to himself. "I heard that they even offer courses that can count for college credits in addition to learning how to duel in the world of pros". "I have to like that, don't I?". Then, he stopped running to think about something.

"I really don't need to keep running and tiring myself out", said Jason. "The academy's less than half a block away and I'm not expected there until 9:00. But I rather be early because it makes a better impression”. With that, he started walking to the academy. All of a sudden, he heard someone call his name out.

"Hey Jason, it's been a while, hasn't it?", said the mysterious voice. He stopped and looked around to see a 14-year old girl in a white blouse running up to him. She was around 5'3 and had fairly light skin.

“Oh hi, Posie”, Jason replied. “Are you ready for the first day at Elemental Academy?"

"I'm ready for it. I've been waiting for this day for quite some time.”, Posie replied. “I even got myself a new book bag to carry my stuff”. She took a white bag off of her shoulder and showed it to Jason.

“It looks very nice”, said Jason. “But we should get going to school. You never know how long it'll take us to get there.”

“Then, what are we waiting for? Let's hurry on over to the Academy and see what we're going to do”, Posie said excitedly.” She put her book bag back over her shoulder and took Jason's hand. The two teenagers ran towards Elemental Academy, all the while talking about what they did during the month they were apart.

[8:20 AM]

Five minutes later, they reached the entrance to the academy. They were amazed at the beauty of the academy. Tall green trees grew as far as the eye could see and flower beds were planted alongside the red brick walls surrounding the academy. In the distance, they saw a mass of towering buildings, each about 8 stories high. Jason assumed that those were the facilities.

“I knew it was going to be a big campus”, Posie said. “But I didn't think it would be THIS big. Just look at the size of this place. It's the size of an entire neighborhood.”

“Yes, it is a very big campus”, Jason replied. “Perhaps we'll get to explore some of this vast campus after the orientation is completed”.

“I'll be looking forward to seeing the entire campus once orientation is over”, Posie said. “It looks so exciting to even be here.”

“I'm going to hope that we get to see the rest of this school”, Jason quietly said. “I want to get to know this place so I won't be late on the first day.” “Anyway”, he continued, “Let's hurry and get to the main building complex. According to what the examiner told us before we left, we are to meet the rest of the students in the assembly hall. So come on and let's go. I'm pretty sure that the assembly hall is to the east.”

Jason and Posie went through the gate of Elemental Academy in search of the Academy Hall, where their new student lives would begin. They didn't know what they would be expecting the moment they walked in there.

[8:40 AM]

Twenty minutes, the students made it to their destination: the Academy Hall. It was a big circular building with a domed roof, painted a shade of dark red with giant double steel doors.

“I cannot believe how long it took to find the Academy Hall!”, Jason complained. “They should have put it in the center instead of on the far boundaries”. He and Posie had walked across half of the campus just to find it and they were tired.

“Yeah”, Posie replied. “I thought it would only take us a few minutes to reach it, not twenty minutes.”

“But the main thing is that we're here”, Jason said. “So let's just go in the building and let them know that we are present”. With that, both of them walked through the double doors of the hall.

In the main lobby of the building, there was a reception desk. Behind it sat a woman with a white uniform and round glasses. She looked up at the two students approaching the desk.

“Hello there”, she said. “Are you two here for the orientation assembly?”

Posie replied, “Yep, both me and my boyfriend here.”

“Okay, that's great”, the receptionist replied. “I'll need to ask you to sign in so the instructors know you're here.” She reached for a clipboard and some pens behind her desk and handed them to the pair. Both students signed their names on the board and returned the materials to the receptionist.

“Great, you're all set”, the receptionist said while she returned the clipboard and pens to her desk. “Now the assembly is in room 217, which is upstairs. The elevator is located right down the hallway.” She pointed towards a corridor to her left and at the end, the students could make out the familiar shape of an elevator.

“After you get off, turn right and walk towards the end of the hallway”, she continued. “It should be the fourth door on your right.” Jason thanked the receptionist and he and Posie went off to find the room they were supposed to be.

Room 217 was similar to that of an auditorium. There were twenty-seven rows of seats, all arranged in tiers in a circular fashion. Several students had already arrived before them and already taken their seats. In the center of the room, there was a giant platform in the middle, which would serve as the dueling field. When Jason and Posie entered the room, they were greeted by a tall man with blond hair wearing a dark blue uniform.

“Welcome to Elemental Academy”, the man said. “I am Professor Hayashi Daimon and I will be your presenter today. Please take a seat anywhere in the classroom.”

Jason and Posie found seats near the front of the classroom and sat down. During the next fifteen minutes, students filed into the classroom and took their seats. At 9:00 am, the professor began to speak.

“Alright then, it looks like everyone is here”, Professor Daimon said once he saw the students seated. “Time to begin the orientation. For you guys, I have a slide show to help explain everything you need to know about the academy”.

The professor pulled down a screen in the front of the room to show the presentation. He got out a projector from a cabinet and linked it up to his computer and pointed it in the direction of the screen. Then, the professor turned it on and the picture of a slide appeared on the screen.

“As you all know, Elemental Academy is the only Duel Academy in the United States, so you can expect that this academy is full of every student in the US that aspires to become a pro duelist”, the professor explained. “But this is not just an academy dedicated to the art of the duel. This is also a school that will help you achieve the necessary credits needed to get into a good college.”

“Who cares about that! I only joined for the dueling, not to learn stuff I could've been learning at a public school”, a voice yelled out. All the students turned their eyes to a boy in the far back of the class. He was around 6'2 and wore a green jacket emblazoned with the image of a bulldog on the front. His face was in a deep scowl as he glared at the professor.

“You must be Giryu L. Drynver”, said Professor Daimon calmly. “If you don't mind, kindly sit back down so I can continue with my orientation”.

“Fine, I will”, said the boy angrily as he took his seat. “But I won't listen to any of you anymore. You are all elitist trash!”

“Can't this guy ever shut up?”, Jason said to himself. “He's beginning to get on my nerves.”

“Alright students, may I please continue the orientation?”, the professor asked. All the students turned their attention back to Professor Daimon and nodded their heads in approval.

“Okay then, let us resume. Like I said before the interruption, this school also offers courses that can be taken in a normal educational facility. Therefore, you will all be taking courses that corresponds to the standards set by the State of Hawaii. And you are allowed to choose what you want to take this term. Does it sound good to you?”

The students were thrilled at the idea of being able to take whatever classes they wanted. A roar of excitement surged through the classroom. Professor Daimon motioned for the students to settle down and finished up the rest of the orientation by going through the rules and how each day would go through.

“And just to see how well you duel, we'll have an exhibition match”, the professor said at the end. “This is also an opportunity for me, as one of the teachers, to see how well you'll do in the academy. Now any volunteers?”

Jason raised his hand. “I'll do it, professor”, he said excitedly.

“Good, we have our first participant. You must be Jason, aren't you?”

“That's me, alright”, Jason replied. He rose from his seat and walked towards the dueling field.

“Okay then, any one else want to challenge him?”, the professor asked.

“I'll fight him”, Giryu said. “I'll prove it to you that he doesn't deserve to be in the top dorm”.

“What is wrong with you?”, Jason replied. “Didn't your parents teach you manners?”

“That's none of your business”, Giryu angrily replied. “Keep your nose out of my affairs, got it?”

“You know what!”, Jason exclaimed. “I'm sick of talking to you already. I'll let my deck say my thoughts for me.”

“Fine then”, Giryu retorted. “Let's hurry up and get this over with.”

“OK then, we got our two competitors”, Daimon said. “Now boys, here are your duel discs”. He held out two standard Academy discs to the duelists. Both of them took one disc and proceeded to opposite sides of the dueling field”.

On the duel field, both duelists looked at their opponent with a blazing aura. Both of them glared at each other as they put on their duel discs and inserted their decks.

“I'm gonna beat you!”, both duelists yelled as their Life Point counters became 8000.
Chapter 2 – Trial by Fire (Part 1)]

On the dueling field, both duelists drew five cards from their respective decks.

“Since I'm older than you, I will make the first move”, Giryu said as he drew a card from his deck.

“Go ahead, it makes no difference if I go first or second”, Jason replied back.

“Fine with me, then”, Giryu said. “I summon Vairon Vanguard to my field in attack mode!” The monster that Giryu summoned took on the appearance of a mechanical angel. It boasted 1400 ATK and 1000 DEF. “And for my next move”, he continued, “I shall equip my Vanguard with Elf's Light. With this card, his ATK raises by 400, but his DEF decreases by 200.” He held up a card depicting a fairy surrounded in light. As he held the card up, Vanguard's ATK rose up to 1800 while his DEF decreased to 800. “Now I will end my turn with a face-down”, Giryu said. “But whatever you do can't stand up to my face-down card.”

“Don't try to scare me with your face-down card. That trick won't work on me”, Jason said as he drew his card. “I play the spell card: Double Summon! With it, I am allowed to summon an additional monster this turn. Now I will play both my Elemental Hero Mizukari and Burstinatrix!” He held up two cards and placed them on his Duel Disc. A girl with wings made out of water bearing a staff and a woman in a red jumpsuit appeared in front of Jason. The water monster had 1500 ATK and was a level 4 Tuner monster. His other monster bore 1200 ATK and a level of 3.
“You're going to Synchro Summon this turn, aren't you?”, Giryu asked in shock.

“Of course I am”, Jason said. “Now I release my Level 4 Mizukari along with my Level 3 Burstinatrix to Synchro Summon a Level 7 monster!” The level 4 Mizukari turned into a ring of light with four star points. Burstinatrix went through the ring and disappeared. Jason then began to perform a summoning chant.

“Heaven angel descend from above, become the guardian that saves the world! Synchro Summon! Let's go! Elemental Hero Spear Angel!”

There was a flash of light that covered the entire arena. Then, out of the flash, a female angel wearing a white and tan colored dress appeared. White wings sprouted out of her back and she carried a blue with a blue tip. Jason's new monster had 2500 ATK and 1800 DEF.
“That isn't fair”, Giryu complained. “You got a Level 7 monster on your first turn, while I only could summon a four-star monster.”

“Save your complaining, Giryu”, Jason said calmly. “My last move was perfectly legitimate. I don't need to explain it to you. Now I play another spell card, Mystical Space Typhoon! Jason held up a card with a picture of a storm on it and placed it into his Spell/Trap Zone. A typhoon ripped out of the card and destroyed the face-down that Giryu had.

“Noooo”, Giryu screamed. “Now I have nothing to protect my Vanguard.”

“Which means your Vanguard is done for”, Jason replied. “Now I enter the Battle Phase. Elemental Hero Spear Angel, attack his Vairon Vanguard!” Spear Angel dove towards the enemy monster and thrust her spear into it. The monster cracked in the spot where it was hit and then exploded.

“Rrgh, you're gonna get it now”, Giryu growled as his Life Points dropped to 7300. “When Vanguard is destroyed by battle, I can draw a card for each Equip Card attached to him. Since he was attached with Elf's Light, I draw a card”. He drew one card from his deck and added it to his hand.

“No matter what you draw, I am prepared for you”, Jason calmly said. He placed one card face-down in his S/T zone and ended his turn.

“I'm going to destroy your Spear Angel this round”, Giryu angrily declared as he drew his card. “I summon Vairon Soldier to my field!” Another mechanical-looking angel appeared in front of Giryu, this time boasting 1700 ATK. “And now, I will play Vairon Material”, he continued. “It boosts my Soldier up another 600 points.” He held up the card and put it into his S/T zone. It immediately attached to Vairon Soldier's right arm and his ATK increased to 2300.

“Even with the equipment, my angel still holds 2500 ATK”, Jason said. “Your soldier can't destroy my monster unless it has a special ability.”

“And you are correct”, Giryu replied. “When I attack with my soldier, he can change the position of your angel to defensive mode. And that's what I'm going to do. Vairon Soldier, attack and put Spear Angel in defense!”

Vairon Soldier jumped to strike his target: the Elemental Hero Spear Angel. A white beam came out of the tip of the Vairon Material and surrounded Spear Angel. The beam pulled Jason's angelic hero to defense mode. A blue tinge of light surrounded it, indicating that it was now in defense mode. 1800 Defense Points flashed in front of it.

“Even though she's in defensive mode, doesn't mean she's going anywhere”, Jason said. “I activate my face-down: Magic Cylinder!” Two cylinders appeared in front of him. “Now my angel is spared destruction, but you suffer your soldier's 2300 ATK points as damage.” The beam of light from Vairon Soldier's attack went through one of the cylinders and was redirected through the other cylinder right at Giryu.

Giryu cringed after his Life Points dropped down to 5000. But he stood up straight and looked his opponent in the eye.

“So what if I take 2300 damage, big deal”, Giryu said. “I'm still going to prove to the Academy that I am a better duelist than you!”

“If that's what you want, then so be it!”, Jason yelled. “From this moment forward, I am going to use every card in my deck to destroy you!”

“Fine”, Giryu retorted. “I'll do the same thing and bring you down”

The declaration of war from both players aroused excitement from the students watching in the stands. Posie stood up and began to cheer for Jason.

“That's the spirit, Jason!”, Posie yelled. “Show that guy what you're made of. Give him no mercy!”

Jason looked at Posie in the stands. “Of course I will”, he said. “I never intended to go easy on him from the get-go.” Then, he turned to face his opponent.

On the sidelines, Professor Daimon was examining how both duelists were playing and began to predict what would happen next.

“This will mark the beginning of a fierce battle”, said Professor Daimon. “This is the type of dueling that we've always wanted to see here at the Academy.”

Meanwhile back on the field, both duelists looked each other in the eyes with intent to win.

“This is a war between our two rivaling dormitories”, yelled Giryu.

“And this is a battle with our pride on the line!”, Jason yelled.
