F.A.R. [An Mech Related RP/ Now Starting/ Accepting]

Altough the Shadow Deflector kept the lance from piercing Tengu's chest it was a very strong attack and knocked the demonic mech down.

 

"Damn it!" Justin pulled some levers and the Tengu rised to standing position again. "I'm getting really angry now! Yokai, activate the BN Mode!"

 

"The chest has taken Critical Damage, it may be dangerous to..."

 

"JUST DO IT!"

 

"Activating BN Mode." Yokai's voice echoed through the cockpit, as the mech started to glow in a black light.

 

"It's time for you to see what an angry demon can do..." Justin said and grinned.

[Time Psyduck]

((Black light? Black is what you get when there is no light. Dark [insert colour here] light or darkness would work, but black light is self-contradictory.))

 

Gilbert took the opening created from the lance blow to put some distance between the two machines and take stock of the situation. "Damage report," he called.

 

"Left arm functionality 91%, shield surface damage 68%, 47% chance of missile system jamming if used," E.E. stated.

 

"Well then," Gilbert smiled, bringing up the Uther's right arm to fire the boltguns, before noticing the dark aura that surrounded it's foe. What the? Gilbert wondered, switching on the speakers for a moment. "Is Renegade-boy getting angry?" 'she' called in a slightly condescending tone - the best he could manage with little experience of the voice.

 

"Don't provoke him," E.E. almost pleaded as the speakers shut off again. Gilbert said nothing, a feminine finger tightening on the trigger for the guns.

((I meant some kind of kind of darkness, but actually black light fits better.))

 

"Taunting me was the last mistake you'll ever do! Flight of the Daemon!" As Justin's voice echoed across the wasted field Tengu was divided into five phantom images who all jumped into the air in different directions.

 

"Now go! Attack!" All the five images darted towards Uther, but when they attacked they went straight through it.

 

"You will not take physical damage from the Daemons, but your system will suffer from their attacks!" Justin laughed again and when the phantom images fused togetehr to the original Tengu he awaited Gilbert's next move.

[Time Psyduck]

((So there really is black light. You learn something new everyday.))

 

Gilbert was able to throw the Uther clear of two of images, and had raised the battered shield up to another, but three of the phantom-like Tengu still shot through. "Report," he called.

 

"All systems seem to be running at reduced efficiency - mean reduction 15% previous levels." E.E. reported. "If I engage system boost mode I can recover it."

 

"Do it," Gilbert confirmed. He'd lose E.E.'s response with the defensive kit, but that responsiveness would be useless anyway if the mech wouldn't move in time. So Renegade-boy has more than just brawling up his sleeve. "Now, where was I. Of course." Once more, Uther raised it's right arm, this time opening fire with the twin-barrelled boltgun hard-mounted in place.

Tengu raised it's palms to guard itself from Uther's attack.

 

"Such pathetic attacks won't work." Justin said calmly, but he was still grinning like a maniac.

 

"Taking Critical Damage!" Yokai's voice struck Justin at the same time as a crushing sound.

 

"What the flux was that!?" Justin was enraged. The right hand of the Tengu had simply fallen off by Uther's attack. "that's it! You will pay!"

 

Suddenly, Tengu did one of it's usual, high jumps. But this time, it raised both it's arms (and the right palm) to the sky. At the same time Justin and Yokai's voice surged across the field.

 

"This time I will end you!" They sounded very mad.

 

"You've been a worthy opponent." Justin sounded more calm now, but he then regained his killer looks. The open palm of Tengu started absorbing all shadows and other darkness around the field, including the black light aura. A gigantic sphere of black light and energy was created above Tengu's hand.

 

*Activate Japanese Language Powers!*

 

"BURAKKU NUKREAR!" The voices echoed far and wide, and the mech did a turn and along with the sphere it darted towards the ground. Upon impact, the whole area was embraced within a void of black energy that would shred any normal mech into rusty gears.

 

"This is the final attack!" Justin yelled and laughed. He couldn't see the other mech because of the darkness, but he was sure that it had been ravaged along with it's pilot. "Yokai, let's get the hell out of here."

 

"We can't." Yokai's answer was simple.

 

"What are you saying!" Justin sounded mad again.

 

"The power used to create the Black Nuclear was too large. It knocked our movement out."

 

"DAMN IT!"

[Time Psyduck]

"If you think a bullet with an explosive tip is pathetic, you better have good armour," Gilbert noted dryly. "Oh?" he added, as the Tengu leaped into the air. Gilbert moved his left hand, a finger ready to flip the switch on the energy shield. "Absorbing shadows, eh? Something tells me Regengade-boy can do something impressive with that."

 

Gilbert was ready when the Black Nuclear hit, and was able to get the energy shield up before the darkness hit. Despite this, he wasn't safe - the energy reading for the shield were falling far too quickly. With no time to consider anything else, Gilbert pushed Uther into full reverse. "60%...55...50...come on E.E., just a little more." E.E.'s response was to boost the speed of the mech to it's limits, the motors in the wheels whining under the pressure. Finally the darkness relented, and Gilbert could see daylight again. "Just in time too," he muttered, looking at the energy shield's status. It was at just 16% - less that 15% and it wouldn't be able to cover the entire mech properly. He deactivated it and watched the darkness, waiting for the Tengu to reappear.

When the void had started to fade, Justin could see that Uther was still standing.

 

"Damn damn damn damn!" Justin smashed his fist to the control board inside the mech. "Yokai! Use all remaining power to activate Ghost Mode!"

 

"But..."

 

"YOKAI!" Justin was starting to sweat, and one could see the rage in his eyes.

The mech started to fade away, but it was still there, but in an invisible, untrackable state.

 

((NOTE: Ghost Mode cannot be used when Tengu is fighting.))

The darkness was lifting, and there was still no sign of the Tengu. "Did he run?" Gilbert muttered, before he finally caught a glimpse of the other machine, right where it had landed. "Did you sit out the storm, or..."

 

Suddenly, the Tengu disappeared. "What now? Some kind of cloaking deivce?" Gilbert questioned. "But if he had that, why not use it before? Unless..." The Uther dropped the shield. With the damage it had taken, he couldn't afford to keep it. Not now.

 

"E.E., call up another shield, then start regenerating internal systems."

 

"But what about that mech?" the A.I. questioned, it's communications system operating once more.

 

"If he was going to use that cloaking device offensively, he'd have used it on the first blow."

 

"Understood." A new shield, identical to the old one, appeared in Uther's left hand, whilst the first one disappeared. Gilbert was annoyed about having to lose the old one - it wasn't a cheap design - but despite what he told the AI, he half-expected the boy to reappear somewhere, probably behind him. The Uther turned to leave, Gilbert having no particular desire to stick around and fight any more.

"I feel like a coward..." Justin looked at Uther as it left. He was angered, how could that mech survive the Black Nuclear? Justin had only used Black Nuclear once before, and then it had wiped out five mechs that he was fighting and an entire crowd of people. That Gilbert tomboy was something special.

 

"You could do nothing." Yokai appeared next to Justin (it was "fused" with the mech the entire time) "The mech's self-regeneration is soon complete, you will still lack the hand though..."

 

"No." Justin looked at one of the mechs he had killed before.

Faith was so engrossed in the fighting of the two mechs below, she didn't even noticed that Xander had left until Tangu went invisible and the other mech started leaving. "Well, that fight gave us some good insight. Right guys?" When she didn't hear Xander reply she turned around confused when she only saw Ian, and Lucus. "Guy's why are we missing someone?"

 

Sugar smiled flying in front of her face, "He left! He left! While you were watching the fight!"

Uther rushed on, back in travelling mode. Although the regeneration process was still under-way, meaning E.E. was unable to pilot the unit, Gilbert wasn't either. Instead he was going through his inventory, looking for something to counter that Black Nuclear move. Although it was extensive, most of the stuff in there was from his previous gaming, several years ago, so there weren't any of the latest gadgets in there. Still, it didn't matter, since sometimes the fact that people didn't use it any more was the best advantage a weapon had. Gilbert's thoughts, however, were on his identity.

 

I clearly can't go around as a woman called Gilbert; as reasonable as it might be under these circumstances, it's just too strange. I can use my username for now, even if it isn't a proper name, but at some point I need a female name. This would be so much easier if I had a gender-neutral name or something.

Lucas turned around towards Faith and noticed that Xander and his A.I. was gone. "Huh, where did that other guy go? He was here just a moment ago. Ha! Don't tell me after all that talk of protecting Faith was just for show!" Lucas exclaimed. "Oh well....." Lucas added. "Man, I was so caught up in that battle just now, that I didn't even realize he just sneaked off. Guess that's just how things are I guess." Lucas proclaimed. He then looked up at Yumi. "Hey Yumi, can you sense him?" Lucas asked. "Nope!" Yumi answered. "Uh...... well you're no help......" Lucas responded to Yumi.

Faith looked at Lucas blankly not knowing how to respond to what he said. In the end she just let it go, because she knew Xander wouldn't leave and not come back. He did promise that he'd protect her, so she knew he wouldn't be gone for long. At least I hope so.., She added in her thoughts looking around to see if she could see him. She smiled as she saw him, "Xander!? Where are you going?!"

 

She then turned to Lucas and Ian, "Since that fight over there is done. I think we should either camp out here or continue walkng. Will you two be traveling with us?" She then asked folding her arms behind her back.

He heard her voice as he was walking, smiling because of it. Reflect turned around as well, turning to Xander right after. Reflect then pointed to Xander to tell him she was there, and Xander nodded, to signify he knew she was there. He turned around, stepping several times in her direction. "I was going to break the fight up. Or I could have started scouting the area with Eclipse. But it doesn't seem necessary, anymore." He stepped a few more times, feeling a small breeze, as Reflect went ahead of him. "I keep my promises. My promise was to protect you. I won't break it." He sounded stern, as Reflect offered her some juice.

"Well we could camp out but that fight might start up again and come over here. So I'm gonna suggest we keep walking." He looked at where the battle had happened. Clause went up to them. "Yes, I suggest we keep walking for now." Ian adjusted his watch. He pressed a button and a detailed map of the area showed up. Two dark red dots appeared over by where the fight was. Four green dots showed where Faith, Lucas, Jason, and Ian where standing. Another small green dot showed where Xander was. "There's a town north of here. We could head there and rest. Hopefully we can stock on items and mech parts while we're there to. Zeta needs a tune up." He switched the map out to a blueprint of his mech. Red areas showed where repairs and new parts were needed. He noted all of this in his head. "Anyway I vote for that. Anyone else?" He switched the image back to the map and looked back at them.

Gilbert stopped, and brought up a map. "So there's a town to the north. If there are more people stuck here, as it seems, then they'll likely head into towns at some point, which makes them the best places to get information to work out the big picture. Shame I didn't look before I left really," he muttered. Uther turned, and set off in another direction, this time at a somewhat slower pace. Gilbert sighed, and went back to pondering his identity and what new tools and tricks he could try.

Two streaks of light shot from the dark tomb. The player was only just able to abandon his mech before it was blasted to smithereens, but it would be a long walk back to put together a new one. He had known it was a difficult challenge, but he hadn't expected to be taken out in one hit.

 

"None shall disturb his Majesty's tomb," a voice deep inside rumbled.

Faith smiled gratefully taking to orange juice offered by Reflect, before turning to Ian. "I'm down for that idea. Besides, I really don't want to sleep on the grass if it can be avoided." Faith smiled at her A.I which landed on her head. "Other players here might have the same idea about going to the towns."

 

She smiled and stood next to Ian saying by body language that she would be going with Ian's plan.

Reflect followed Faith for a second, leaving a paper towel on her shoulder, turning to Xander, and returning back to him, stumbling a bit on the way there. Finally, Reflect stopped over his shoulder. "Yes...It sounds like a fine plan. I need somewhere to rest after all this, as I'm sure you do, as well." He fixed his clothes, and then fixed his hair, looking towards where Ian said the nearest town was. "I'm going now. Follow if you wish." He began making his way to the town, asking Reflect to turn invisible and watch them from afar. Before then, however, Xander asked for the chip that contained Eclipse. Reflect did as he was told, and gave Xander Eclipse's data, then went away to watch them.

Was what Jake heard through his cockpit. "Uh..........Rekki-Maru......what's going here?" he asked. "*sigh* why did I have to be stuck with a player like you?" Rekki-Maru, Jake's A.I. partner ansewered. "We have to head to the nearest Challenge Dome, so I'm taken over the Nirvanna now."

 

"ATTENTION!! ALL USERS COME TO THE NEAREST CHALLENGE DOME. THERE HAS BEEN AN ERROR REGARDING THE GAME."

"Well that changes things quite a bit," Gilbert muttered as Uther changed direction yet again. "It seems they're going to actually say something, although if there are a lot of people trapped here I guess they have to act. E.E., how much longer until we're all fixed?"

 

"Approximately two minutes," the AI unit replied.

 

"When you're done, engage the auto-pilot," Gilbert replied. When the AI took over control Gilbert leaned back into the seat, adjusting 'her' chest. "I guess this is just something I have to get used to," he muttered.

The message played through Ian's watch. "Well looks like plans have changed." He looked at Faith. "Wonder what this is about? I think the town I pointed out has a challenge dome' but I'm not for sure." He knew this would be something about the ban. Clause eyed him questioningly. "You know this as well as I do Clause. Its something more than just the ban. Anyway spawn my mech will you?" Clause waved his arm and a blue grid appeared. When the mech formed he jumped in the cockpit and grasped the controls. Before the gates closed he piped up. "Well lets go before those guys over there start fighting again." The doors closed. His mech began to hover across the ground and moved toward the direction where the challenge dome was.

"Otacon!!!" Will snaped. "You don't have to tell me!! I was the one who gave the message!!" He finished shouting.

"W-Well all I hope now is that Players will come to the the n-n...nearest Challenge Dome." Otacon replied, but stuttered in a shaky voice. "Well don't worry, REX and I got this covered......Say Otacon....." Will began. "Show a map of the current area we're in."

"Yes sir.....Here's the map of Sector F-19, the current secter we're in."

"Alright, thanks, and one more thing, turn on the intercom."

"Right a-away."

"ATTENTION!! All users in the F-19 sector, head to the nearest Challange Dome. If you don't know where it's at, I'm going to fire a Flare into the air. Follow the Flare." Will annouced, while aimming REX's Magnetic Railgun into the air, and fired. Launching an Nuke that exploded after some time, giving off an big explosion.

"That shot will most likely be seen in other sectors of the game, and I'd probably giving off the location to the enemy......." He thought. "Otacon. Prepare for anything hostile movements."

Mech's Name: Metal Gear REX

It's Metal Gear Rex from the Metal Gear Solid (MGS) series.

 

Mech's Fighting Style: Metal Gear REXs weapons are highly suited for Mid to Long Range combat, and despite it's very sturdy exterior, REX is very slow, and not ideal for close range.

 

Mech's Weapon/Gear:

-Metal Gear REX has near-impenetrable compound armor

-A pair of 30 mm vulcan cannons(it's only realible short range weapon)

-Anti-tank missiles (it fires from the knees)

-A free-electron laser, to protect itself from conventional forces

-Its primary weapon, however, is a magnetic railgun capable of delivering an untraceable nuclear warhead anywhere in the world, without the propellant trail or launch flare that gives away the launch position of a traditional ballistic missile.

-Because of its sealed, one-man cockpit and thick armor, its sensors are concentrated in a radome on the left side of its body; this radome is very vulnerable to attack, and destroying it effectively blinds the REX unit, forcing the cockpit to open. In this state, the REX is vulnerable as its controls can be easily destroyed (Otacon states that this was intentional, declaring that nothing can be complete without a "character flaw").

The message was playing throughout Tengu's cockpit. The mech ahd now exited Ghost Mode, and was currently repairing in a repair shop located in the closest city to the battlefield where Justin and Gilbert had clashed. Justin's mech was getting a new hand that he salvaged from the defeated mechs, this new one equipped with a laser cannon.

 

"Is the repairs finished soon!" Justin shouted, growing impatient. He was currently flipping a small coin in his hand.

 

"They are now." Yokai appeared next to him.

 

"Good. Then let's go!"

[Time Psyduck]

"Nuclear blast at high elevation," E.E. suddenly called out. Gilbert glanced at the screens.

 

"That'll be whoever it was who just said to follow their flare," he replied. "A bit over the top for a location signal though. Switch over to manual," he added, grabbing the controls, "and make sure we're ready to fight."

 

"We're going to fight?" E.E. asked, sounding very worried, "maybe we should just not go."

 

"We shouldn't be fighting," Gilbert explained, "but someone who fires a nuke as a flare may just be the type to attack something on sight. It's better to be safe."

 

"Understood," E.E. replied. In truth she was glad - Gilbert had been more cautious since he had been trapped in his avatar, and so she somehow felt a bit safer.

 

[spoiler=OOC] New characters is part of what the OOC thread is for, but anyway. I think saying the armour is 'very tough' rather than 'near-impenetrable' would make it sound less overpowered without being actually being any different. The railgun seems too dangerous - maybe if the nukes had to use conventional fuel beyond a certain range, or were very obvious in flight. Besides, does a mobile unit need to hide it's launch location? It wouldn't even need a nuclear warhead - conventional explosives or even a solid shot would do enough damage in themselves. On the whole it doesn't seem so bad, it's just that railgun's range and what it fires.

Edit: Having thought a bit more, a minimum range may do the trick - I guess there's a degree of that with the nukes as missiles, but the mech seems to be the 'withstand nuke' type anyway. Having the minimum range beyond that which would be used in normal engagements means it wouldn't be considered as an armament, so the mech is less op'd without the raligun being less dangerous.

Faith nodded before turning to Sugar. "Please bring shadow out." Sugar gave a small salute before turning into a floating purple ball. She then opened her mouth and a projection of Faith's mech appeared in a grid form. Seconds later it started to fill out, and before long Shadow Storm was standing in front of her, the cock pit opened for her to enter. "Xander Lucas you should get your mech out as well. Don't wanna be the last to get there." She giggled before jumping straight up and into the awaiting mech. The chest of the mech closed, that's where the cock pit is, and Sugar fitted herself in a small circle on the out side. Faith then started on her way to the Challenge Dome.
