At first glance, I want to support this. But then, you said it was 'users', not 'specific users'. No.

In theory, what comes at my mind is, if you said 'users can lock threads', then ANYONE could lock the thread, and that would've been a disaster. And I don't think there's a way to choose who can lock the thread.

Why I don't support this is because, by ANYONE, I meant ANYONE including noobs.

No, he meant that you will be able to lock only your own threads, not threads of other people

I dont really see any HARM in it, which is reason enough to support it when I'm primarily neutral. I imagine that if someone starts making "spam threads" where they make a topic, lock it, and so on, that person would get banned or penalized in the same way they would if they made multiple threads and DIDNT lock it.

I don't like the idea of being able to "un-lock" your own thread even if you yourself locked it. That could lead to some mild "power-abuse" where people, wanting to be funny, locks their thread during X hours and unlocks it at random times to troll people who might post there. I also question whether that can be used to get around a MOD locking the thread and the owner unlocking it. So if such an idea of self-lock was implemented, I think locking it "by accident", even, would require contacting a mod to unlock it. And I'm pretty sure mods would notice being pestered by the same person too often to unlock their thread after "accidently" locking it, and will either refuse to do it or penalize the user, so that reduces the amount of random locks.

As for users who'll lock their thread after negative criticism...you mean the ones who go into flame-arguments when someone says their deck sucks and eventually the thread gets locked anyway because it devolves into two or three people insulting each other while spectators pick sides and predict how long until a mod locks it (all while making comments about post counts going up)? Dang, sure would hate for those sensitive souls to deprive us of making fun of their deck while they throw tantrums about how stupid we are for hating their deck.

Overall, I think it's a good idea, and although not strictly necessary, I support the idea.
