Pokémon: Winds of Orlana [Advanced | PG-16 | Started | Not Accepting]

Can't we start soon?

To answer your question: He likes to eat more then he likes to work out. Also, as I mentioned he likes to eat Pokémon Food, and since Pokémon battles alot I figured that the food will contain alot of energy, which will become fat since Jason doesn't work out.

We'll be starting today, hopefully; if not, we'll start for certain tomorrow. I say "if" because I'm working at the clinic today, meaning that I won't be able to post between 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. In the meantime, please stay tuned for further updates, and thanks again for your interest.

I hope he didn't off himself. That's what he said in his last note. More concerning of the RP' date=' I think that Saiba still might not accept because I doubt he and Blazing were expecting this many people and that every RPer that drops out is no skin off their nose.

[/quote']

That's correct, actually. To be honest, over ten is a bit too bulky for a comfortable RP, so we're assuming several people are going to drop out or be inactive for whatever reason.

On the bright side, we also discovered we could comfortably run with only around 40% of the joiners being active, the important variable being that the people who chose the starters staying active. Therefor, even if we do get slimmed out over time, we should be able to keep the RP running for a significantly long time.
1) Sorry about the name, I didn't see it. I'll edit that.

2) Read the bio.

-We did. Obviously we still have a problem with it, or we wouldn't have brought it up. Having justification in the bio doesn't automatically entitle you to break the rules set out in the beginning of the application.

3) How do I?

All of the adjectives used in the personality were "Cheerful", "Passionate", "Firey (heart)", "Calm", "Collected", "Icy Calm". None of them are particularly illuminating beyond generalizations, and most are synonyms. Adding 'Icy' to 'Calm' doesn't make it a different word. Ignoring all that, it was also way too short.

4) You said this takes place in an alternate timeline to the series/games, meaning the gym leaders could be anyone.

Only isofar as new details are added. We're not removing canon from anything that doesn't need to be removed to tell the story, and changing the gym leaders of other lands doesn't fall under the 'necessary' category. Besides, you didn't even specify what those two gym leaders were like, so it's not so much 'the gym leaders could be anyone' you're saying, as it is 'the gym leaders could serve to be my character's parents and that would be the extent of their significance'.

5) As said in Number two, Just Properly.

Once again, just because we read it, didn't mean we liked it. Seriously. Your character has two basic-level pokemon, and yet he's somehow managed to crusade across 'All known regions'? Rather powerplay-y. Handwaving it by saying he's the son of two gym leaders doesn't quite cut it. I'm rather sure Saiba even mentions somewhere in the application that your character is supposed to be a rookie trainer...

It sounds like a good RP, and one that I'd really like to join so just please reread my app.

Saiba was the one who initially looked over your app, and he didn't like it that much. I looked over it again, and I really didn't like it. Your character is honestly bland as anything we've seen, hilariously over-accomplished, and neither of us have enough faith in your RPing ability to give you the benefit of the doubt in the matter. We don't think he would add anything to the roleplay as a whole, and as such he doesn't make the cut. With sufficient revision and almost entirely changing large chunks of the character, he could possibly become something acceptable, but honestly we don't think it would be worth stalling the opening of the RP for, when we have over ten other applicants who want to get started.

I don't mean to sound so rude, blunt, scathing, etc. but I don't appreciate the insinuation me or Saiba didn't accept you simply because we didn't properly read your application. We do spend time considering this, and we don't accept or reject people entirely out of hand, especially considering Saiba goes out of his way to get my second opinion on applicants even after considering them himself.

pokeballfinaluse2-1.pngGM Post: Ochre Village
Doubly isolated by a thick stretch of shadowy emerald undergrowth and the sparkling, gently roaring waters of the surrounding sea, Ochre Village dreamed peacefully into the early hours of the morning, cloaked in the velvety shroud of shadow and silvery moonlight. The ethereal quiet was shattered briefly as a front door was opened somewhere in the village, creaking slightly in the warm, salty air. There was a low thud as the same door closed gently, followed by soft footsteps that moved with purpose down the porch and onto the ground.

In the dim light of the fading moon, a tall and slender figure could be discerned, hurrying away from the center of the darkened buildings of the village in a northerly manner, footsteps falling softly against the dirt path with hardly any noise. As it approached the inky fringe of the Ochre Woods, however, the figure slowed its pace, until at last it came to a complete stop. For a moment, the figure paused and looked back almost forlornly at the slumbering village—however, the instant passed quickly, and with a smooth movement, the figure turned and disappeared into the cool shadow of the trees.

===

There was no other noise in Ochre Village for a long time after that; all that could be heard was the steady rush and sigh of the surf as the waves broke upon the peninsula's shores. All was tranquil until the rising sun had distributed much of its golden-red gleam to the waves below, and a clear and radiant blue veil was thrown over the gray sky. Soon enough, a lone snatch of birdsong broke the silence, and the tiny seaside village seemed to burst with sound and life as its denizens rose and began to prepare for the new day. Flickering shadows danced across the sky as pairs of Dovely soared through the air, their sweet voices serenading the people and Pokémon moving among the wooden buildings below as the sun arched higher across the sky.

Under the golden rays from above, Ochre Village seems a different place than it did before, dreaming lazily in the sultry night under the light of the moon and stars. It is by no means a travel-worn destination, set far south of most of the Orlana Region's notable tourist attractions—in fact, one might even call it remote and isolated, existing slowly in a forgotten time under the golden sunlight. You will find that the houses are arranged loosely by fancy on either side of the wide dirt road that cuts through the heart of the village, drawing both people and Pokémon to its dusty surface. The buildings are mostly dwellings or small businesses of one kind or another; Ochre Village is so sparsely populated and so far off the beaten path that it even lacks a Pokémon Center or Mart.

In the center of Orlana's great cities, events move apace and the nights are illuminated by colorful lights—there, life is lusty and new, blossoming with new experiences and sights; here in Ochre Village, it has mellowed into a pleasant routine that never varies, especially when the warm summer air blew off the sea, as it does now. Ochre Village is the very image of a seaside paradise—one in which both humans and Pokémon can exist in peace and prosperity, working together to build their lives against the breathtaking vista of the sea.

The place is here and the time is now, for you stand poised upon the edge of a great destiny where fame, fortune, and mystery await, just out of sight, tempting you to chase them along the long, hard road upon which you now stand. For although Ochre Village is a slow, dreamy place, it is also a place of new beginnings, and even now the start of your adventure draws near, for today is the day that you are to go to one of the houses in the center of the village, where the famous Pokémon Researcher Professor Sycamore is waiting for you, ready to guide you through the Ochre Woods to Peach Town, where her Pokémon Laboratory is located, and where you will receive your first Pokémon partner.
OoC:Okay, so here is the first GM Post for the group of player characters (Marsuvees Black and Kuroda Naoki) as they start off their journey in Ochre Village. I decided to give them a little bit of a headstart, seeing as they have yet to receive their first Pokémon. For now, you two are free to RP the houses you are currently living in and the people that you might be living with. Once you're done with that, you are to gather your gear for the adventure ahead and move with purpose to the center of Ochre Village, where Professor Sycamore is supposed to be staying on a brief visit to her parents. It's entirely up to you whether your characters know each other well or not, but seeing as Ochre Village is rather small and only has one school for all of its children and young adults, they should at least know the other person exists. Just be sure to play nice.

Once you are both satisfactorily introduced and have begun to make for the general direction, I will proceed with another GM Post that will set you upon your journey. Until then, all of the non-Ochre Village characters will have to sit tight for a day or so until Blazinghydra can make a GM Post for Peach Town. Thanks again for your patience and support, and I hope you enjoy the Winds of Orlana experience!

As the faint strokes of sunlight reached into the window, Jason raised from his bed and stretched his arms out and yawned. He had bareky been able to sleep last night, thinking about how he was going to earn his very first, own Pokémon today. He got up and clothed himself in his usual outfit of a black t-shirt and baggy, white shorts. He looked himself in the mirror and sighed at his body. He didn't like it, but he hoped that his adventure would make it disappear. He walked up to the window and looked outside. He could see almost all of Ochre Village from here, as well as the Ochre Woods. He was currently staying in his grandparents' house, since his parents lived in Butternut Village, a fair bit away from Ochre Village.

After a big, tasty breakfast Jason left the house, bringing the Pokéballs he was given by his grandfather, who was a past Trainer, and started walking towards the building where the professor was staying.

Josh stepped out of the store on the day he was to get his first Pokemon, after a long goodbye. He had held his chin up, although he wanted to cry. He knew crying on the road was not exactly tolerable, even if he was setting out alone. As he thought, he also smiled about the prospect of having a new Pokemon, and knew just which he would choose. The fire one. He reflected on his adoration of the known fire starters, and wondered which he would get. "Will it be a Torchic or a Cyndaquil? Maybe a Charmander? Or maybe even a Chimchar!" He adjusted his back pack subconciously, and checked his right pocket for the Pokegear he had gotten only a few days before. He had only finished setting it up the night before. all these thoughts and mre buzzed through his mind as he left his Home Town.

pokeballfinaluse2-1.pngGM Post: Ochre Village

As both Jason and Josh drew closer to where Professor Sycamore was staying at the center of Ochre Village, they were greeted warmly by many of the locals going about their daily routines, Pokémon trailing behind their owners in most cases—in a community as small and tightly-knit as that of the village, everyone knew everyone else, even if they were merely acquaintances, and grudges were almost unheard of. Children dodged around the two boys and dashed away, sandals clacking noisily after them as they went, while the scent of delicious homemade cooking added to salty sea breeze that flowed slowly over the buildings.

Within only a few minutes of walking, the boys were drawing closer to their destination—however, since they were approaching it from different directions, they had yet to see each other. For a moment, they were content to listen to the steady sound of their footfalls against the sandy ground and dirt road, their thoughts turning excitedly to the adventures that were undoubtedly waiting for them. Both Jason and Josh came to a halt, however, as they approached the house where Professor Sycamore was staying with her parents on her biannual visit.

It was a moderately large house fashioned mainly out of wood which had been painted a soft shade of white, yet here and there were fanciful designs that only added to the dwelling's simple beauty—if one were to lean closer, they would see that the metal rail of the veranda was carved to resemble the waves of the running sea. Although it would have been considered of only average size in one of Orlana's more populous settlements, the Sycamore home was easily the grandest building in Ochre Village, towering easily over the other dwellings with three stories. Neither boy had much time to appreciate the house's smooth and clean architecture, nor the easy grace with which it had been decorated, for their attention was focused upon the person standing on the porch, pounding the Horsea-shaped knocker insistently upon the wooden door with a single-minded ferocity that was a little unnerving.

It was a young woman, perhaps only one or two years older than the boys by what they could see of her from behind. She was clad simply but efficiently in a white short-sleeved shirt and a pair of blue shorts that nonetheless managed to display her athletic figure to perfection—a fact which neither of the teenage boys managed to miss. The golden rays of the morning sun shone upon her firmly tanned skin and caught the light of the single white ribbon that was worn in her hair, making it flash momentarily like water.

OoC: Sorry for the delay, everyone, and thanks for your patience. Classes this week were particularly annoying and my workload was pretty difficult to manage; still, I'm excited that we're finally getting the RP on the road! I'll talk to Blazinghydra as soon as possible about a Peach Town GM Post. Also, Kuroda and Marsuvees, try and wait until Encapturer has posted regarding Lisa before you do anything - it works much easier that way.

Josh felt a bit sheepish around the young woman, feeling his teenaged mind getting a bit active. He pushed it back after looking down for a moment. When he looked up, he had a slight smile, and waled up to the woman. Then he asked the woman politely "Excuse me, are you here for the Professor too? My name is Josh." He extended his hand, with a grin. He knew he would end up hitting on the woman if he did not keep this brief enough. He just hoped it would not be something stupid, but rather suave. "Riiight, like that'll ever happen." he thought, behind his grin.

"Come on! I know you're in there!" Lisa continued to knock furiously, each blow louder than the last. She was breathing deep, and the sweat running down her body gave away the fact that she was probably tired. Indeed, after a few more knocks, she exhaled deeply, then turned around and leaned on the door, sliding downward . After wiping some sweat from her forehead, she glanced upward and spotted the local boys who just arrived, presumably to get their first Pokemon, Lisa figured.

"Ah!" Lisa pulled herself off the ground in a hurry, before actually speaking to the two. "When did you here- I mean..." she said, her words coming out as nonsense. Finally, she took a moment to regain her composure to speak to the two clearly. "I'm Lisa, and yeah, I'm here for the Professor," she replied to Josh, pointing her thumb behind her towards the door she was banging on previously. "So, you're here to get you're Pokemon?" she asked, with all of the exhaustion from before all but gone. Now, she was grinning, thinking about what Pokemon these two would get.
As the soft rays of the morning sun bathed the rich emerald trees of the expansive Ivy Forest a deep, fiery golden, the treetops shifted in the dawn breeze, flowing back and forth like the tide of the mighty waters.

A town was nestled against the shore of this grand forest, hidden from prying eyes, like a precious fruit from the stem of a mighty tree.

Though small, Peach Town was a bustling civilization of commerce. Amongst its simple wooden buildings and unassuming shops was the signs of a bustling economy as the masses passed by, even in the early morning hours when ordinary people would be asleep.

Cries of Pheasfy and the coos of Dovely mingled with the cries and sounds of people and pokemon as they walked by one another, buying selling, talking, arguing and bartering. Along a golden road, an artery of the town, were several small stations selling simple conveniences for travelers, items that would benefit the trainers as they passed by. Citizens of the grand Azure City strolling by picked up souvenirs of the suburbs, less developed areas that they had the privileged to visit. Trainers heading to the infamous Ivy Woods bought antidotes and berries to aid their pokemon against the notorious bug and grass pokemon's ability to cripple others, as they made the long pilgrimage to Ivy Town. Occasionally, one or two people came to, or from the even tinier settlement of Ochre Villages, but such an event was rare.

Two bridges characterized Peach Town- the Peach Bridge, a small suspension bridge connecting Peach Town to the nearby Ivy Forest, and the Azure Bridge, a massive work of art wrought from metal and strong wires, held aloft over a long and dangerous gorge of water that separated the grandiose Azure City from the rest of the continent. The Azure Bridge was by far, one of the most frequently used. People heading back and forth from the smaller villages, the meeker parts, were always attracted towards the opportunities offered in the city.

For the trainers, it offered a gym and the largest and most Complete Pokemart in the city. For the adventurous, the direction allowed them to head towards Creamy Hollow, a mountainous and mysterious lowland with short forests that promised rare and hardy pokemon. For the romanticists, the history and beauty of the town alone were an allure- not to mention the harbor was always full of immigrants from the rest of the world. In fact, a ferry at the moment was heading towards the harbor, among their passengers a young girl who had visions of Peach Town in her mind, surprisingly accurate depictions of the simple-looking PokeCenter and rather profitable Pokemart that made their way on the main street of the town, treating the needs of the various travelers who passed by.
Alright, now everyone else can start in Peach Village. Nothing in particular any of you have to do, just make your introduction posts and fool around for a bit. Wander around the city, interact, etc. etc.

OoC: Oh yea! Let's get this started!"

IC: Nyoko stood on the railing on the outside of the company yacht, watching the land on the horizon getting bigger and bigger. The sting of sea breeze was refreshing compared to the heavy air of Goldenrod City. The cool air swept through her dress and Nyoko simply let the experience fill her.

"Ahh...How nice..." Nyoko said to herself, very dreamily. She was about to start a new life by herself and yet, she was completely calm. She was never troubled by the past or future; she lives in the present. She closed her eyes as she held her hat down in the breeze, letting a small smile slide onto her face.

"Ochida-sama, we are about to land in Peach Town. You should get ready to disembark," said an aged man in his sixties who almost snuck up on Nyoko. He wore a very formal black suit and white gloves, practically oozing the butler image from his pores. Nyoko turned around slowly and looked to him with a smile.

"Oh...Thanks Hama-san. I guess this will be the last time we see each other for a long time," Nyoko replied in her calm voice.

"From what your father told me, that is correct. It was an honour to serve you," the butler replied with a deep bow. The butler then checked his watch and hurried back to the bridge. Nyoko rummaged through her big tote and pulled out a Pokeball with a large Seal Case around it.

"Maro-chan! We're here!" she said as she let the resident Pokemon out. A Jigglypuff with an adorable lock of hair in between its ears appeared in the signature flash of red light. The Jigglypuff looked out at the close approaching Peach Town and replied with a excited "Jiggly".

*******

Nyoko took her first steps onto Orlana, waving goodbye to her butler, who waved back in a polite excitement. With Maro sitting on the brim of her hat, she slowly began to wander the port...

Daisuke sat in his home, staring intently into the screen of his labtop, typing furiously. He repeatedly looked back and forth, from the strange blue egg on his desk back to the screen. Finally he pushed in chair back and brushed strands of hair from his face. "Dad, what have you left me?" He closed his labtop and grabbed it from the desk. He walked over to a window, where a pack and several items rested on the couch in front of it. He opened the flap and placed his labtop in it. He took the items off the couch, a few Pokéballs, potions, and some Pokéfood, and placed them in different pockets of the pack. He slung the pack over his shoulder, grabbed a cloth, and picked up and carried the Pokémon egg in it. He opened the door and walked out into the sunshine and peacefulness of Peach Town. He reached for the Premier Ball at his waste and pressed the button, opening it and releasing the Pokémon inside. In a red beam of light, a Munchlax appeared, yawned then sat down. "Come on, buddy. It's time for some field work." Daisuke walked towards Azure Bridge, his egg in hand and a sleepy Munchlax following behind.

Jason looked at the girl and a flirty smile spread on his face.

"Yes! I am here to get my own Pokémon! I will then become the Orlana Champion, and after a year I will own a total of more then 300 Pokémons!" Jason flexed his muscles, adn his arms looked very big, but if it was actually muscles or only fat was hard to decide. He then let the arms drop and looked at the girl again. "are you here for a Pokémon of your own too? Then maybe we could travel together!"

Nathaniel sighed heavily and retracted his arm as yet another vehicle sped past him on the Azure Bridge. He'd been hitchhiking all afternoon in an attempt to get a ride to Peach Town, but it was to no avail. Giving up, he slumped down into a sitting position at the side of the bridge. His Gible, who had been standing by his side along the bridge, stuck it's tiny arm out into the road, emulating the position his master had been assuming seconds before as he tried to get some form of transport to their destination. It's not that Nathaniel was being lazy; he was exhausted after a long ferry journey from Sinnoh to Azure City, which had taken all of the previous day to reach its destination, arriving late at night. Nathaniel was so excited he felt the need to stay up all night looking around the city, and he was paying the price for it.

"Gible," he groaned wearily, "get away from the road. You'll get run over." The small, blue pokémon did as it was told, sitting down on it's backside next to Nathaniel, again mimicking his position. "At least it's still warm here," he said, hitching up his shorts slightly in order to get the air around his calves, "I can afford to hang around here in the sun for a bit!" He let his neck relax and his head slumped backwards. His poor Gible tryed in vain to copy him once more; unfortunatley it had no neck to relax - so it spent the next couple of minutes writhing about at the side of the road, until Nathaniel pulled out a pokéball "You must be tired too, huh? Return." In a flash of red light, the restless pokémon vanished into it's pokéball as Nathaniel sat up straight, looking up and down the bridge. 'I probably could walk this distance,' he thought to himself, 'but I think I'll stay here for now.'

Josh knew the other kid, Jason, from Ochre Village. The kid seemed a bit... off to him. "Nice to meet you, Lisa," He said with a slight smile, and continue, " And, yes, I am here for my Starter Pokemon. I hate to reitterate his point, but are you here for yours? I would not think so. You look older than us, which means you should already have one?" He asked, looking slightly perplexed, and hoping he had not offended her in any way. To make it less awkward, he decided to speak to Jason for a moment. "Hey, Jason. What type do you plan on picking?"

((Jason is from Butternut Village, but since his grandparents lives in Ochre it's possible that Josh and Jason knew eachothers.))

"Well, I was thinking about the Fire-Type, but I will wait to see which one of the Pokémons that 'speaks' to me." Jason said and pulled a little notebook out of one of the pockets placed on his jacket. "This is my mother's notebook, she runs the Day Care in Butternut Village, so she knows a lot about different kinds of Pokémon."

Jason showed Josh a sketchy picture of three Pokémons.

"That's the three Pokémons that the professor usually hands out to new trainers."
There was a slight creak behind them, and Lisa, Josh, and Jason turned at the sound of the wooden door swinging open slightly on its hinges. From the small gap behind it, they could see a pair of sea-gray eyes looking out at them for a moment. The eyes blinked and the door swung open wider, revealing a tall elderly woman with silvery hair tied in an elegant knot on her head, standing very straight. She looked remarkably young for her age, with only a few wrinkles showing around her mouth and under her eyes—but those were what truly gave her away. Calm, gentle, and wise beyond notion, they moved slowly to each of the young people, resting briefly on their faces before moving away.

"Yes?" she asked in a pleasantly low voice, crossing her arms. "I am Mrs. Sycamore. How can I help you?" She glanced at Lisa and frowned slightly; the tanned girl squirmed slightly under her gaze but did not hesitate.

"My name's Lisa Raanad," the girl said, "and those are Jason and Josh," introducing herself and the two boys. "We're here to see Professor Sycamore—it's important."

"Somehow I had figured that one out myself," Mrs. Sycamore said coolly, but after one last gaze at the anxious faces of the three young people, she relaxed and smiled slightly. "Very well," she said. "You'd best come inside with me."

She turned and moved into the house, beckoning lazily with one hand after her. The trio shared an uncertain glance before trooping in after her, their feet thudding dully on the wooden porch. As they moved into the Sycamore household, they could see that it was simply decorated; yet somehow, it still managed to exude an air of casual elegance with white walls littered here and there with portraits of the seaside and a beautiful young woman lounging on a stone bench. Mrs. Sycamore led them into the kitchen, which was small and comfortable, and indicated four wooden chairs grouped around an ancient table.

"Sit," she demanded calmly, indicating the chairs and sinking gracefully into her own. The three teenagers sat down uneasily, not entirely certain why they had been welcomed inside the Sycamore household in such a manner.

"Now," the elderly woman continued, crossing her hands under her chin and surveying the companions with interest. "You said you wanted to see my daughter about an urgent matter, is that right? Well, I'm afraid that won't be possible—you see, Clara isn't at home right now. She left sometime last night; I'm not exactly sure when."

OoC: "Pokémon" is a term that can refer to either one creature or several. Thus, "Pokémons" should never be used. Also, now that you guys have gone ahead and interacted with each other a little bit, we'll be proceeding right on schedule with the advancement of the plot!

As the trio followed the somewhat elderly woman, Josh admired the house. It seemed nice enough, albeit a little quaint. He thought it was a nice fit for the woman they were following. After sitting down, and getting comfortable, he heard the news. "Really?" He asked, a little downtrodden, "Well, where is she? Or rather, when will she return. That is to say, if you know that information. I'm sorry to press, I'm just a bit... anxious and excited." He smiled slightly, before letting his lips fall flat. He habitualy squeezed and let go of his knees, as he awaited an answer.

Daisuke walked down the sidewalk of Azure Bridge, safe from the passing vehicles. On several occasions he had noticed Munchlax sniffing at something on the ground, and turned to see him with a piece of half-eaten food in his hand, and he had always had to cut in. He had walked the length of nearly the whole bridge and noticed a person resting on the side of the bridge. From further away, Daisuke had noticed a Pokémon next to him, but he didn't see that now. When he reached the person he saw that he was a boy around his age. He was going to continue, but then Munchlax poked him in the back of his leg. He turned around to see Munchlax sitting on the ground. I guess I'll be resting here. Daisuke sat down next to the boy. "Hello there. I saw you from afar earlier and thought I saw a Pokémon with you. Are you a trainer?"
Mrs. Sycamore regarded the three companions carefully for a moment after Josh's remark, and for the first time since she had met them, concern and unease crept into her eyes. "I know where my daughter is supposed to be," she said softly after a brief pause. She looked up from her hands and intercepted the gaze the others shared. "I use the word supposed here because I didn't get to speak with her before she left. She just disappeared in the middle of night without saying anything—the only thing she did manage to do was leave behind a note."

The elderly woman reached into her pants pocket and drew out a small sheet of paper, which had been originally folded crisply but was now worn and shapeless from being spread out and read so much. She sighed sadly and pushed the paper over to the trio so that they could see what it said. In a close and sharp hand that indicated in how of a hurry it must have been written, the note read simply:

"Something terrible is happening not too far away from here. The wild Pokémon are restless. I'm going to check things out in the Ochre Woods. It's probably nothing, so don't worry about me."

"I saw it this morning as I was fixing myself some coffee," Mrs. Sycamore explained. "I can't be sure when she left, but I'm guessing that it was some time after midnight, because when I went to use the restroom, she was still awake and working on her laptop."

The silver-haired woman drew a deep breath and ran her fingers through her hair. "I know that I'm probably overreacting, but this just isn't like Clara—she'd never disappear in the middle of the night without saying something first unless it was incredibly urgent. I haven't heard from her yet, which worries me—the Ochre Woods are of a decent size, but you can cross them in an hour or two if you know the way. What if she's injured and can't move?"

"Whoa, whoa," Lisa said, making a calming gesture with her hand. "Calm down. Even if she is injured, she still has her Pokémon with her, right? So that means that she'll be fine."

Mrs. Sycamore sighed again forlornly and clenched her delicate hands into fists. "That's another problem, I fear," she replied, standing and gliding over to the kitchen counter, where a brown leather satchel-purse lay across the wooden surface. She grabbed it in one hand and then laid it across the table in front of the three companions.

"This is her research bag," the woman explained, indicating the satchel in front of her. "Inside, she carries most of her hand-written field notes and her Pokémon for journeys—I can't imagine why she would leave something so valuable behind, especially if she was going to investigate some sort of local disturbance... But the bottom line is that my daughter is missing. I don't know for how long, but I do know that she doesn't have any Pokémon with her to protect her from harm, and that's reason enough for concern."

Mrs. Sycamore looked up slowly from the satchel at the trio, as if seeing them for the first time. "I know it's a huge favor to ask of you," she said to them, "but I'm worried for my daughter. Do you think you could try and find her in the Ochre Woods?"

"Well... alright."

At first Lisa was hesitant to help find Professor Sycamore, but as her mother continued to speak, the more in danger the professor seemed to be, and the more she found herself unable to refuse. Besides, she could show off her Pokemon she caught herself, and have the professor be indebted to her. Not a bad deal.

"I've been through Ochre Forest a few times, so I know my way around a little, so I'll be fine taking that to her" Lisa said, before leaning over the counter and grabbing Sycamore's bag. She didn't look inside, instead, she just slung the bag on her shoulder as if its was her own. She then turned to her right to face Jason and Josh waiting for their answer, the small smile on her face almost expecting them to search for Professor Sycamore with her.

"No, no. Hmm... try applying a sonicboom here..."

Bahnes and his Magnemite were, as he always was, experimenting. Today's fixation: The frequency necessary to break glass. This was accomplished with a miniscule microphone and speaker, that only served one thing: to project the pitch of a sound. The problem was that the sheet of glass Bahnes was only flawed in certain areas, and so breaking it would be a matter of precision and location.

Magnemite followed its orders, and nothing happened, seemingly. Then, before their very eyes, a small crack formed on the pane. Bahnes grinned excitedly, as if he'd been presented a check for a few trillion dollars, and was immediately told it was tax-free.

However, this victory was interrupted by a rather loud knock at the door. Bahnes instructed his Magnemite to stop, and answered it.

The hotel security man, a burly thirty-year old whose face told the world to go jump off a cliff, was standing , holding a pose.

"Sir," he said, putting a distasteful emphasis on the word, "the managing staff has instructed me to remind you that you are in a hotel, and as such there are other guests with Pokemon. As such, please refrain from the use of high pitched sounds, as they...negative..ly..."

The security man trailed off as he realized that Bahnes was staring straight past him and at the elevator door some few feet off.

"Do you know if those elevator door motors use Gertek motors, or do they use Maikro brand? Actually, could I borrow a weldin-"

"Just cut the noise!"

The security man slammed the door, leaving Bahnes with a confused look while his magnemit floated around his head like some sort of cuckoo bird.

OOC: Saiba, can you PM me Atominor's moveset? I'd like to see what I'm dealing with here.
"Thank you so much," Mrs. Sycamore said softly to Lisa, rising from her wooden seat with a dull scraping sound as her chair slid back against the floor. "Still," she said, pausing slightly with concern, "are you sure you'll be able to find her by yourself? The Ochre Woods may not be very big, but it's still a difficult place to find someone unless you already know where they are."

For a moment the gray-blue eyes flashed from Josh to Jason's face before disappearing momentarily behind a blink and a sigh. "I know it's very forward of me to ask you," she said to the boys, "but could you please do me the favor of accompanying Lisa while she searches for my daughter? Three pairs of eyes are certainly better than one; I would go myself if I could, but I'm afraid that I would just slow down the search."

Mrs. Sycamore ran a hand through her silvery hair absentmindedly and for a moment she looked much older than she had before—tired, gray, and defeated. "But never mind," she said after a brief pause, brightening considerably and standing straight once more. "Neither of you will be able to receive your first Pokémon until my daughter is found, so that may be some personal incentive for you to help track her down."

The elderly woman winked lazily at Josh and Jason, who frowned slightly as they realized the cunning trap in which they had been caught—what other option did they have but to say yes? It was clear that unless Professor Sycamore could be found and rescued, neither of the aspiring Trainers would be able to receive their starter Pokémon.

OoC: Let's see if we can't up the activity a little bit, guys. There are thirteen registered participants in this RP, remember? So far, only a minimal amount of you have posted—let's try and change that.
