He wanted to become a Coordinator at the very young age of 10.

 

His mother and father wouldn't hear of it. He had goals set out for him; he would be next in line in the family to take over his father's gym. He had to think about family matters before he decided what to do in life. Even still, Robert would secretly take his mother's Togekiss and enter in contests secretly under a false identity and a black mask, always falling short yet learning each time.

 

One day, as his father was wathing the television, he noticed that there was a strange boy with what seemed to be his wife's Togekiss on television! He knew instantly that it was his son, and quietly wondered how long this had been going on. He saw his sone command the Togekiss with such courage and majesty that he couldn't help but watch. That was Robert's first ever contest that he actually won.

 

From there, Robert's father decided that it was best if his young son pursued his own dreams.

When worn casually, it is either left unbound, or tied back roughly to keep it away from her face.

 

- EYE COLOR: Dark brown. She has a case of genetic partial Heterochromia, which makes the inner portion of the left iris green. This is usually hidden by the pupil, but may become visible when her iris quickly dilates, such as after waking up or moving from a dark room to a very bright room.

 

- COMPLEXION: Very pale, though not quite sickly. Gives the impression of someone who hasn't been outside very often.

PERSONALITY: Eri, outwardly, seems to be a rather typical example of higher-class snobs, often acting superior and condescending to others, expecting people to go out of their way for her sake. While not particularly arrogant about her talents, she is rather quick to criticize others for their failings, especially as it pertains to her. She is known to keep a grudge for startlingly long times, and can be rather petty. While not particularly adverse to doing work, she will almost never do so if there is someone else around who is capable of doing it. She is rather curious, however, and will often put aside her petty reactions if there is something interesting to be learned, or if she realizes things are important. While usually judgmental, Eri does have a talent for debate and compromise, though she hates acting 'bureaucratic' such like that. If she is doing something she likes and feels like she has no responsibilities, she is significantly easier to get along with, and seems to have an almost child-like innocence.

This is, however, largely a masquerade. Eri has almost no self confidence, and indeed hides it behind a veil of superior smugness, generally trying to distance herself from others. She is very lonely, though she almost never admits it to herself, and hangs on tooth-and-nail to any sort of relationship she can form with others. Though she doesn't seem like it, she is quite empathetic and can tell when certain things go over the line, though she lacks the courage to try and rectify anything such as that. Though she isn't particularly protective of material things, she is intensely jealous about her relationships, and quite protective. She will see people that share her friend's attentions as rivals at best, and enemies at worst.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Eri was born to a family of three, with two elder brothers. Being the girl, she was not expected to hold up the good name of rich and powerful Feder, one of the oldest and most revered lineages in Hoenn and trailing back to the old days of monarchical royalty.

Given the best education money could buy since the age she could read, Eri was taught in a variety of subjects with private tutors, given little time for rest. Though she was not expected to hold up the good name of her family or make great accomplishments, she would, one day, be expected to marry into another wealthy or powerful family in order to increase the reach and strength of the Feder on a whole, and thus was given a full education specializing in politics. Though she took other subjects, they were minimalistic distractions to keep her busy during the other times where she had free time. She interacted little with other children her age, even at social gatherings, where she was strictly instructed to stay at her father's side.

Her brother Edmun was possibly her only real friend. Edmun was older, and unlike the other sibling in the family, Venturio, not particularly interested in politics. As he grew, he took his education in a direction more towards politics and the sciences, eventually becoming a rather notable Pokemon Breeder on the side to developing new scientific instruments and technologies. One day, as a birthday gift, he gave his little sister a Dratini. Though their parents disproved of the gift, Edmun was able to convince them that it was a harmless distraction that would not take away from their studies.

As she grew older, Eri's studies increased to incorporate many more and complex disciplines, leaving almost no time for personal thought or rest. While she did this without complaint, she was apprehensive of the true roll of all of her studying- to be married off. While she knew this was an honor, she was afraid of such a big change and what it might bring with it, and was thus horrified on her eighteenth birthday when her parents revealed the man she was to marry- Eric Green.

A rising star politician, Green was not a particularly BAD match, Eri thought. They shared many of the same interests, and he seemed nice enough, if a little boring. Even so, Eri loathed him on sight, for the simple reason that he represented a massive rift in the way she had always done things. She didn't know why, but marriage seemed abhorrent to her, for whatever reason. And thus, whenever possible, she made excuse after justification after excuse in order to prolong their wedding date, until the time when she was unable to do so.

Panicked and not knowing what to do, she confied into Edmun once again. Understanding her plight, Edmun came up with an plan almost too crazy in order to work.

Secretly, Edmun worked to procure her tickets to a new region, a country only sparcely populated due to its recent inception. Taking proper care to eliminate the paper trail that would allow her to be tracked, he sent her off across the ocean on a boat destined for a harbor near the settlement of Peach Town, a fair amount of money in order to keep her alive until she obtained some sort of job, and a pokemon for her to train in addition to her old Dratini while she was there. Deeply indebted to him, Eri decided to roll with her interest in pokemon, a topic never really discussed in her endless lessons prior and become a pokemon trainer, almost entirely oblivious to the trials ahead of her.

POKéMON AFFILIATION: Researcher/Breeder. He's headed to Ochre to hopefully get a Pokedex from the Professor.

 

HOMETOWN: Russet Town.

 

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: He's fairly well off: four Poke Balls, a few Potions, an Antidote or two, and a collection of modified Tinker-toy-like pieces, along with some string. There's also a notebook and approximately 5-6 pencils in his bag. He also has a modded Poketch, allowing him to access a phone and the local radio stations.

 

MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION:Just walking, currently. However, he did get to Peach Town by way of a Magvel ship from Russet (going around the west side of the region) dropping him off at Azure. From there he cut through Azure and wound up in Peach Town.

 

PERSONALITY: Strangely enough, Bahnes isn't spoiled in the least. He has very good manners, and is fairly amiable in conversation. Oftentimes, however, one might catch him staring at something intently. It could be a pokemon, a person, or a tree. This is a manifestation of Bahnes' intense inquisitiveness: Something about that tree, or that Caterpie, or the woman who just crossed the street would strike him, and would launch him into a train of thought surrounding that feature.

 

To amuse himself during the inevitable periods of motionless wait, he has brought along his building kit, in case an idea for a structure or piece or something came to him. He is also a analytical person, having a natural feel for the technical aspects of Pokemon battling, but still hasn't quite got the flow of battle down yet. However, this aspect makes him a very good strategist.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Twenty years ago, Hertz Cheston, an avid (and wealthy) architect/industialist from Orre, led the way in the industrialization of Orlana's towns and cities. While he was an indirect factor in most of its metropolises(Crimson City, Siennaville, and Azure Town being notable examples), his attentions were mostly directed upon a rather large patch of land on Orlana's northwest border. Thus, the bustling shipping city of Russet was born. Thirty-four years later, Franz, Hertz's son, having settled down on an still greater fortune with his wife, Jehanna Magvel (proprietor/owner of Magvel Transport, which transports materials and goods across not only the region, but most of the industrialized regions around the world) came to an epiphany as he looked upon his newborn grandchild: This child shall change the world.

 

And Hertz was right to a degree, Bahnes certainly changed the world around him. A tinkerer at heart, he's known around the city as "Wholesale Cheston" because he'd would ask for the scrap materials people didn't need anymore. With these he'd make whatever he could. The results were humorous at least and marvelous at best. For example: The residents of Russet awoke one morning to discover that every street sign in the city had a bird on it. While this didn't appear unusual (bird Pokemon seemingly come and go as they like throughout the region), the people realized two things:

1) The birds weren't Pokemon.

2) The birds were all made out of scrap metal.

The people realized not only the fact that it was a prank, but its perpetrator. However, the prank was so spectacularly done that not only was Bahnes endeared for the idea, but that day every year since was Bird Day, in which people sculpted, molded, or used their hands to create hundreds of little birds to decorate every city structure and sign. Suffice it to say that Bahnes was well known after that.

Okay, everyone. Sorry for the delay, I was out clubbing with some friends last night and crashed at a friend's house until midday. Anyways, I'll go ahead and start addressing the many issues that have been raised here.

Zerato: A pretty brilliant application overall; I really like it. The only thing that I'm a little concerned about is the trend people are having of creating histories that may affect the plot indirectly. It's fine that Nathaniel's brother challenged the Elite Four, but doesn't a Trainer become the new Champion if they defeat the old one? Or is it entirely optional? Anyways, it's not really a problem in your application, so no worries. I'll add you to the list of accepted participants.

 

Kuroda: The problem isn't your lack of detail describing Butternut Village; rather, it's the lack of formative elements that help to explain your character's temperament, mentality, and personal motivations in life. He just seems a little bland at the moment, a bit of an anomaly. Do you know what I'm trying to get at?

 

Tempest: Yeah, Dahlia, your application generally looks very good - however, the trend of editing the Pokemon universe slightly is one that worries me a little. Even though I can't fathom a way that the Gym Leaders of other regions will affect the characters in Orlana, you should probably stay away from creating new Gym Leaders. Also, as Blazinghydra said, he already claimed Togepi earlier. Did you want to use a Duskull instead? Also, once we've figured that out, you'll be accepted. I just hope you can post often enough with your computer problems...

 

Proto: Okay, well oyu can still use it to intimidate others, so long as it isn't actually loaded, etc. Also, you can't pick any of the three starters unless you're starting your journey in Ochre Village. So if you wanted to use him, you'd have to forfeit the Pokemon that you had previously requested. And no, the movesets will be handled entirely by me. As soon as your character's Pokemon are introduced, you will receive some miscellaneous information about them, detailing attacks and abilities. Similarly, evolutions are already taken care of. Yacky is pretty large, yes, standing at about 6"09 and weighing 273 lbs (at least, those are the measurements used by the original artist).

 

Ragnarok: As I said, the movesets have yet to be posted. Obviously, I haven't composed movesets for all 500+ Pokemon that might be used in this RP. Those will be introduced later, and the evolutions are not yet listed, for obvious reasons.

 

Blazinghydra: Nice character. I'm really digging the feather accessory; at first, I assumed it meant she was going to use Flying-Type Pokemon, but you sure showed me. xD Anyways, accepted with no problems.

 

Otaku-sama: Okay, your request is accepted, but... As you can see, we're starting to hit too many members, and I'm concerned that only two GMs won't be enough to handle the workload. I wish I was allowed to boot the less accomplished, already accepted members to make way for others, but I doubt I'm that cruel. So if you're interested in participating, you'd better hurry, because I am unlikely to go above ten members.

Bringerofcake: Nice character; Bahnes seems pretty cool, although his clothing suddenly cuts off at the last sentence. The only thing that concerns me about him was the liberty you took in describing the formative elements of Russet City and its description - true, you captured well enough the bustling port settlement I had in mind, but that's not the issue; for example, in the plot section on the first post, I said that Orlana's industrialization took sixty years. Perhaps that's a bit much, but colonizing a wild continent and making it suitable to human settlement is no small feat. I'll let it slide for now since I don't mind very much who founded Russet Town, but try and be more careful in the future. Also, you may want to make the founder of Russet Town be Bahnes' grandfather instead of his father. Apart from that, you're accepted!

It is made of a very tough straw that keeps its shape even in the heaviest winds. When she is performing, she wears a dazzling grey and white dress that flatters what little figure she has.

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: She always carries her very large armbag around with her, which carry her essential equipment like her Pokeballs and potions. Being rather wealthy, most of her Pokemon have Seal Cases over their Pokeballs. She also has a prototype Pokemon Trainer device that is still unnamed, which gives her all the features of a Poketch while being a cellphone and a Pokedex.

 

MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION: Walking...slowly...

 

PERSONALITY: Nyoko is very strange. Most people would call her 'stupid' or 'spacey', but really, she just has a very different way of thinking. Her logic can often bring her to very strange questions. She is prone to non-sequiturs and often confuses anyone around her by posing very unrelated questions. She also doesn't seem to have much energy, easily falling asleep, sometimes in the most inappropriate times. She is also very clumsy and has the reaction time of a flatworm.

 

When she is performing or about to perform, she becomes a different person. She becomes very determined and has much more energy than she usually does. She is much more graceful, matching the mood set by her Pokemon. She even acts a bit snobby as her performances often benefit from the expensive equipment she has.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Nyoko was born and raised in Goldenrod City, her father being the CEO of the Johto branch of Silph Co,. Nyoko was always spacey since she was an infant, worrying her parents that she may have a mental disease. Most of her infancy was spent on her parents bringing her to the best pediatricians all over the world, all of them finding nothing wrong with Nyoko, just determining that Nyoko was just a very spacey child. At the tender age of five, her parents introduced her to Pokemon, attaching herself to a male Jigglypuff, which she named 'Maromaro', much to the dismay of the Jigglypuff.

 

Nyoko and Maro were inseperable, mostly because Maro could not get away from Nyoko for more than thirty seconds (Maro's best time was fourty three seconds flat). Eventually, they learned how to be more compassionate to eachother; Nyoko did not smother Maro and Maro did not try to run away. Nyoko showed an interest in Pokemon Contest during a family vacation to Hearthome City. Her parents gave her the best training in Pokemon performing from one of the top Pokemon performers. She influence Nyoko's personality, leading to her dramatic change of personality when she is performing. Nyoko participated in contests all over Sinnoh and Hoenn and won a few contests, losing most. Not wanting her confidence to be shattered, Nyoko's parents sent her to the new land of Orlana, where the competition in Pokemon contests would be less intense.

 

LIST OF POKéMON:

STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Lawson carries the bare necessities: some potions, pokefood, and a few spare pokeballs. The only item that stands out among Lawson's collection is his Old Rod, which was given to him by a fisherman. Lawson does not actually use his Old Rod to catch pokemon, but rather to sit and relax along a body of water.

 

MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION: Walking

 

PERSONALITY: Lawson is quiet and thoughtful, yet extremely cynical and judgmental. While he does not openly criticize people, he usually gives them "reviews" in his head, which almost always end up with a negative image. Lawson does not enjoy the company of people as much as he does pokemon. His ideal day is to fish on a peaceful, relaxing lake while his pokemon romp around near him. Lawson is also extremely unmotivated. He constantly suffers from academic failure due to his lack of willingness to work. The few things that do motivate him, however, such as training his pokemon and exploring the world, are things that he puts his heart and soul into. Lawson also tends to be extremely philosophical.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Lawson was born in Blackthorn City, a town that produced Lance, the Johto league champion, and Clair, the 8th gym leader. As a result of this, Lawson's parents always had impossible expectations for him. They expected him to live a life with the caliber of Clair and Lance, in other words to be the best at something. To make matters worse, his parents were not envisioning pokemon but business. For 16 years Lawson constantly tried to meet these expectations. He received top-notch grades and took part in a variety of sports. One fateful day, Lawson was walking home when he saw a hurt Larvitar on the ground. A Skarmory was buffeting the Larvitar with its wings, and Lawson felt compelled to help the Larvitar, but he had nothing with him to do so. A nearby hiker appeared and sent out his Onix. The Onix hit Skarmory with one Rock throw, and then the hiker used an ultra ball to capture the Skarmory. He then gave a pokeball to Lawson and said, "Here, someone has to protect the poor thing." Lawson captured the Larvitar, and brought it home with him to meet an inexorable wave of disappointment from his parents. That was the final straw for him. Lawson stopped applying himself in school. He failed out of three schools before his parents began to hint at sending him to military school. Lawson left that night with his Larvitar. Not content with leaving Blackthorn behind, Lawson wished to escape the Johto region. Out of the four alternative regions: Kanto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, and Orlana, Lawson opted for Orlana because he realized that it maintained the least ties with Johto, and so it would be harder for his parents to find him.

Well, the games have already set the premise that once a trainer defeats the Elite Four, they're entered into the Hall of Fame, and then are given the choice to remain as Champion (in Gary/Blue's case anyway). His brother is really just a reason for him to travel in this new region, lol. ^^" There's no reason for him to affect the plot of the RP.

- CLOTHING: For casual clothes, Jayden wears baggy black jeans, and red and blue shoes. He also wears a white shirt with flame-like designs on the bottom. On his head he wears a backwards, black and white cap reminiscent to that of Red's and tinted goggles on his forehead.

PERSONALITY: Jayden has a relatively carefree nature and is rarely ever seen without a smile (or smirk) on his face. He believes that things will eventually work out, despite however bad things seem. He also has a fairly long rebellious streak, and despises wearing anything fancy (suits, tuxedos, etc.) with a passion. A hotheaded and reckless character, he loses his temper whenever insulted and can't stand being looked down upon and pitied by other people.

 

He also has a great capacity for forgivness; even when faced with obvious or previous hostility, he rarely holds a grudge or negative feelings towards an opponent - usually seeing the good in them. However, this is not a ubiquitous feeling as he can direct considerable fury at a particularly evil enemy. He also has a horrible sense of direction, and frequently gets lost anywhere that isn't his hometown, but claims that he 'goes wherever the wind takes me.'

 

BIOGRAPHY: Born and raised in his hometown of Siennaville, Jayden was the younger of two children; a boy and a girl. He lived a decent life; watching pokemon battles on television, getting into fights with his sister, training in the mountains, kid's stuff. On his eleventh birthday, his parents gave him a pokemon egg that would later hatch to become a Cygmini. For the next 6 years, he begged he parents to let him go on the journey that he knew he needed to go on. Just when he was going to give up, his parents finally succumbed, telling him he could leave when he turned 18. Unable to wait that long, Jay left six months early, much to his family's dispair. He now wanders aimlessly, trying to be the best.

Okay, everyone. Sorry for the delay, was finishing up some coursework. Here's my set of responses to the final batch of applications before we kick things off!

I can definitely say that I can see some improvement from the first application you turned it; in fact, I am glad that you weren't accepted twice, because it gave you the opportunity to get better with each time. Although you're accepted, I have one last question to ask you... Is there any particular reason your character is overweight?

 

Otaku: Alright, everything's looking good! Of course, you are free to use nicknames, and I found Maromaro to be pretty damn adorable. The only problem that I can spot is that Plug Jr.'s ability isn't Levitate; it's either Static or Lightningrod. You're accepted, but please be sure and edit that to avoid confusion.

 

Magnet Soldier: I think your application could use a little more work, unfortunately. For starters, we already have a character named Nick. Next, there's the fact that he's a little too well-equipped for a rookie Trainer. Furthermore, in his personality you just repeat yourself a little bit and don't explain very much. If I recall, the Gym Leaders of Snowpoint City and Hearthrome were both women, so I'm not sure what you're referring to. Finally, there's no way that a rookie Trainer could have defeated two Gym Leaders so easily. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to ask you to not reapply; as you can see we're a little filled up at the moment.

 

Jcbballer: Alright, everything looks decent enough, I suppose, although teal is a pretty bizarre color for hair if you ask me. Also, hazel is characterized as being a mix of green and brown, not gray and golden gray. Again, he's a little too well-equipped for a rookie Trainer. Generally, the characters shouldn't be carrying too much, since they're supposed to be able to travel realistically. His personality seems a little contradictory, but otherwise we're good.

Okay, that settles everything, I think. If I've done my math properly, that brings us to a nice round sum of 14 participants, counting myself and Blazinghydra. It may seem like a little bit too much to start off with immediately, but unfortunately, I'm fairly certain that one or two members will be unable to continue with the RP and will eventually drop out, so we're fine in case that happens.
