Hey there, everybody. I'd like to welcome you to my latest RP, which takes place within the Pokémon universe, as seen in the popular video game and anime franchise. Although there certainly isn’t any shortage of Pokémon RPs on this forum, I feel that I’ve established a truly refreshing storyline and environment here, and I’m hoping to find some enthusiastic participation. Sure, the Advanced Tag means you'll have to work a bit harder to be accepted, but I am determined to make this an enjoyable RP of the highest quality.

NOTE: Please realize that this RP occurs within an alternate timeline of the Pokémon universe, meaning that certain anime-exclusive characters like Ash Ketchum, Gary Oak, etc. are not present here, if only for simplicity's sake. Although it is extremely helpful for potential applicants to possess some degree of familiarity with said environment, it is possible to participate without any prior knowledge, provided that you are familiar with the storyline and mechanics of the Pokémon games. Having said this, every effort will be made to make the RP progress smoothly.

It has now been more than sixty years since the sinister Team Galactic attempted to forcibly seize control of the Sinnoh Region and forge their new universe using the mystical powers of a mysterious legendary Pokémon. Soon after their failure, due mainly to the disappearance of their leader and growing suspicion from the police, the fanatical Pokémon syndicate was disbanded and scattered to the four winds with little to no chance of ever managing to regroup. In that time, much has happened in the world of Pokémon, with countless discoveries of entirely new species and unexplored regions being made with incredible regularity.

 

Foremost of these is Orlana, a beautiful and newly-settled isolated island region that was explored less than a year after the Team Galactic incident in the Sinnoh region. Only a little exploration was needed to indicate that the region was home to a wide number of rare Pokémon who were to be found exclusively within the area, and commercial settlement designed to make the region suitable for human habitation soon followed. After a period that elapsed twenty years, the region was explored and adapted satisfactorily, although special care was taken in order to not upset the pristine and multi-layered environments that composed Orlana's ecosystem. In Orlana, mankind perfected what can only be classified as the lifestyle of the future—one that emphasizes cooperation with the natural environment and coexists peacefully with it, avoiding pollution in favor of cleaner energy systems and constructing cities and towns according to the region's natural landscape.

 

The Orlana region is characterized by an incredible variety of ecosystems, combining lush deciduous forests with sparkling coasts, rugged mountains, and even an inactive volcano to form a breathtaking spectacle of highly diversified natural beauty. Similarly, the region is noted for the many recently-discovered species of Pokémon who make their homes there—unsurprisingly, for these reasons, Orlana was quickly populated by a mass exodus of natural researchers, scientists of all kinds, Pokémon Trainers and Breeders, and ordinary people who merely wished to lead their lives against the backdrop of such a beautiful and well-preserved environment. The Orlana region has something to offer everyone, regardless of whether their interests are battling or breeding new Pokémon, exploring its vast landscape, or studying its well-varied ecosystems, provided they have the courage and motivation to make the journey there.

 

Yet not everything is as it seems in this supposed paradise, for even now, a new shadow is rising within the region of Orlana—cruel, jealous, and hungry to make its mark upon the world, no measure is too drastic to obtain the mystical power it so desperately desires. Although the shadow is still new-born and unperceived, it is cunning and patient, and with each passing day its sinister influence waxes—soon, it will be ready to spread its dark designs across all of Orlana, twisting the will of its inhabitants and sowing chaos and ruin across in its wake. Still, even against such a darkened horizon, a golden ray of hope endures so long as the people of Orlana have the will to confront and repulse this enemy. And as the land begins to slowly reflect the results of the growing darkness and cataclysmic events move apace, the mantle of responsibility falls upon the shoulders of Orlana's Pokémon Trainers, those brave warriors who will fight to protect their dreams and the ones they love.

You are an aspiring Pokémon Trainer in the Orlana Region, traveling the countryside in pursuit of your dreams with your loyal Pokémon—whether your goal is to become the next Pokémon League Champion, top Pokémon Coordinator, or merely to see and experience the many wonders and adventures that the region promises, you are endowed with a great destiny that is drawing ever closer, although you may not know it just yet. Although Orlana is a prosperous and beautiful country, populated largely by well-meaning and hard-working people, there are still many unseen dangers and challenges that will line the road ahead of you. Your journey will not be easy, but along the way you'll meet fellow Pokémon Trainers who have dreams and aspirations of their own. Whether you choose to befriend these individuals or antagonize them is entirely your own decision, but one thing is for certain: whatever the outcome of your travels, you will encounter obstacles and challenges that you could never have imagined—regardless of whether you triumph or fail, you will learn from these new experiences.

 

Three of the player characters (that's you, by the way) will begin your journey by default in Ochre Village, where you'll proceed to receive one of three rare Pokémon from the local Pokémon Researcher, Professor Sycamore. These three characters will be determined entirely on a first-come, first-serve basis, provided that your application is acceptable and meets the RP's high standards in grammar, syntax, and spelling. While receiving such a distinctive and powerful Pokémon so early may initially seem like a good thing, you'll have to think carefully about making this decision in regards to the road ahead, where most of the other Pokémon Trainers (that's the rest of the player characters) will be starting off with up to two Pokémon in their party. You will be presented with a variety of challenges and individual objectives along your journey, which you can address more or less at your own pace. Regardless, the choice is yours, and you stand poised on the edge of a bright new future, where fame, fortune, and adventure beckon.

You can use the above map for geographical reference as to where the many cities and areas of Orlana are located. Generally speaking, Orlana is characterized by rugged mountain ranges in the center that gradually give way to soft, rolling countryside that eventually smooths out and meets the sea. Although further details will be provided later, it's suffice to say that traversing the region would certainly take a while, especially since you'll be traveling on foot for the majority of your journey. You are free to pursue your own aspirations along your journey, but keep in mind that even the most loosely-structured RP requires some form of sequence, so don't expect to be able to head off to advanced areas at an early point in the RP.

 

For the moment, the only areas that are of notable mention are Ochre Village and Peach Town, both located along the Orlana Region's southern peninsula. Ochre Village is this region's equivalent of Pallet Town—a pleasant and isolated settlement situated at the far end of the Ochre Woods. Unlike Pallet Town, however, Ochre Village is not home to a renowned Pokémon Researcher, meaning that you'll somehow have to brave the woods before you can meet Professor Sycamore. If you are one of the three Trainers who will eventually be receiving one of three rare starter Pokémon, you'll begin your journey in Ochre Village. In regards to the other player characters, you will be starting your journey in Peach Town (or another future area, depending upon when you join) as a rookie Pokémon Trainer with slightly more experience.

1. Don't God Mod. Doing so will result in one warning. Anytime after that warning will result in a ban from this RP, as determined by a GM.

 

2. Posts must contain some IC actions. Meaning no OoC only posts, unless you are a GM.

 

3. This is a high-action, engaging RP, and it requires that you post often. Failure to post for more than 5 days will result in expulsion from the RP unless a suitable reason is provided.

 

4. The RP will use third-person past-tense narrative. This is to avoid confusion and allow for greater character development and description.

 

5. If you feel that others are slowing the RP down or are creating problems for it, please feel free to contact the Game Masters (Saiba Aisu or Blazinghydra). However, keep in mind that we will have the final say regarding any such matters.

 

6. You cannot create more than one character at a time. Only Game Masters have this ability, unless specified otherwise.

 

7. Characters may of course share a hometown and Pokémon Affiliation, but try and differentiate your character from those of your fellow RPers in some manner.

 

8. Although this RP will feature several custom Pokémon, or "Fakemon", created by artistically talented fans, it is not a requirement to use them. If you are more comfortable using existing Pokémon, than you may do so. In regards to these Fakemon, they are used with the artist's permission and will generally follow their creator's design in terms of Type and battle strategy, although the GMs may make changes as needed.

 

9. You are NOT allowed to use Fakemon that are not on the list of accepted Fakemon (see the list below). If you find a Fakemon that you think is of high-quality and would be suitable to the RP, you are free to contact that Fakemon's creator for permission to use it in the RP. If you receive permission, you will then be able to submit that Fakemon for review by the GMs. If we find it acceptable, the submitted Fakemon may be included in the RP.

 

10. The RP will also feature a GM-controlled Exp / Level Up System under which each character will be able to improve the power and skill of his her or her Pokémon as the RP progresses. The system will govern when / how a Pokémon will level up, learn new skills, and even evolve into other forms. In addition, items will be manifested in a variety of ways, ranging between casual objects scattered across the land to rare, powerful tools obtainable only after completing certain challenges.

 

11. GM positions are currently unavailable. If a GM feels that you possess the skills, time, and dedication necessary to further the RP from an authoritative position, that GM may extend an invitation to you to also become a GM.

 

12. You may apply a maximum of three times in a row. For whatever reason, if your character is rejected each of those three times, you will be obliged to wait one business week ( approximately five days) before being able to apply again. Any applications posted or PMed during this five-day period will be politely disregarded.

 

13. All additional RP rules apply and will be enforced.

Remember, if you choose one of the three starters, you will be forced to start off your journey with only one Pokémon instead of two. STANDARD EQUIPMENT: Jason is equipped with everything a traveler needs; a cellphone, cooking kit and a sleeping sack. As a trainer, he also carries a a dozen Pokéballs (six strapped to his belt), a couple of Potions and Pokémon Food, which he for some reason likes to eat as much as Pokémons do.

PERSONALITY: Jason is that kind of person who always wants attention. He feels that he is hated by many and loved by few, but he knows that the opposite is the truth. He always does his best to be as loved as possible by his friends, and he tries to see the best in a person, instead of judging them by appearance, smell and such. He is also very flirty, altough he often says something wrong that prevents him from getting to involved with relationships. He can get really sad or angry at times, especially when people comment on how he doesn't have an own Pokémon or that he's overweight. However, no matter how mad or sad he gets, Pokémon always seem to be able to calm him down.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Jason grew up in Butternut together with his family and his family's Pokémons. His mother owns a Pokémon DayCare, and such Jason has met many different Pokémons together with his mother. His father, on the other hand, is a past Pokémon Trainer who sees himself as failed since he has never defeated any Pokémon League during his 30 years as a trainer. Jason always get's picked on at school because he doesn't have his own Pokémon, which many of the kids at school has. Jason recently noticed that no matter how hard his life may be Pokémon is always able to cheer him up, thus he decides to travel to Ochre Village to get his own Pokémon and to become a great Pokémon Breeder and Trainer.

He is studious, and is dogmatic in all things. HE is not as explosive as his tastes, but is a very passionate person overall, pursuing things he wants in earnest.

 

BIOGRAPHY: He grew up in Ochre Village with his mother and father, his father being the PokeMart owner. Due to his family being naught but simple merchants, he had to work for them, rather than set out on his tenth birthday Pokemon quest, because in a small village a Pokemart is rather useless. The only reason one had been built was to make exploration easier. At the same time, it allowed him to study more, and memorize things he needed to know, such as type matchups, and Pokemon types. He also devoted himself to learning all of the basic items used by trainers, as to be prepared for his trip he would, hopefully, eventually take. When he turned 16, he was given 3000 Poke, and sent on his way to get his starter, finally able to go on his quest, albeit six years late. Now he's on his way to get his starter, and his story unfolds!

He rides with the tide - he will always pick the side that is most beneficial for him at the moment, and promptly dump them when the balance shifts like nothing ever happened. Coupled with a certain personal charm, earned through years of practice as a talent hunter, it's quite easy to be deceived by Rover Black.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Like most youngsters, Rover aspired to become a Pokemon trainer. His dreams were never fulfilled, as his father, a businessman in Saffron city, sent him to open a branch to his business in Lavender Town. The attempt never worked out, though, and Rover found himself out of job, and out of money. To make a living, Rover pushed himself into the talent-hunting business, working for an underground Pokemon battling sponsor company. However, he fell out of the good graces of his bosses when he stubbornly chased a lost cause, wasting a lot of money and resources in the process and almost endangering the operation's secrecy. As punishment he was sent to the newly-colonized Orlana region, with no money, and few means with which to complete his assignment - hunt down potential talents that would be interested in participating in illegal Pokemon battles for profit. However, as the region is still fresh, Rover has not had much luck in his task - but going back empty-handed will probably mean that his short-lived career might find an untimely end between the horns of a raging Nidoking. Therefore, he is trying to make the best with what he has, pretending to be a Pokemon trainer while at the same time surveying the field for potential recruits.

Ralis had gotten out of danger many times due to his father's name which was odd, due to the fact that the old man had never wanted to be a shooter, just a trainer but apparently failed. At the age of 15 a Tauros attacked the city, supposedly having caused the other town quite a mess, it raged through the town, then approaching Ralis. His father then did what no man in Peach Town could ever dream of doing again. He shot and killed the Tauros, the Officers came the next day and arrested Ralis's father. However the man smiled at his son as he was taken to the prison. The some weeks afterwards, in which Ralis had been raised by some grandparents in Goldenrod. Ralis returned to Peach Town, taking the only belonging's left to him by his parent, a flintlock pistol and a Pokemon Trainer's Belt, he went off to become a Pokemon Master.

BIOGRAPHY: Cerce is a Pokémon Trainer that hails from Azure City, the prosperous, sparkling seaside jewel of Orlana's urban settlements. As the largest settlement and most popular tourist attraction of the Orlana Region, Azure City is a highly multicultural place, characterized largely by the diversity of its citizens, many of whom are originally from other locations in Orlana or even from other regions entirely. This refreshing societal diversity is strengthened by Azure City's nature as a major port city that docks all kinds of seacraft, ranging from luxury liners that rival the S.S. Anne to small boats that belong to the many fishermen who make their living from the sea. For this reason, Azure City is a major destination for the majority of those traveling through the Orlana Region for a variety of reasons, and its allure is only complimented by the fact that it is also the site of the highest-level Pokémon Gym and Pokémon Contest Hall on the island region, as well as the home of the annual Pokémon Marathon Challenge.

 

Born and raised within Azure City, Cerce is already a talented rookie Pokémon Trainer who displays considerable future aptitude. Merely living in such a diversified city has opened his eyes to many different kinds of people and Pokémon, meaning that he tends to have the edge over his fellow rookie Trainers in regards to knowledge and experience. Unsurprisingly, the location of his childhood home and its close proximity to the sea have been strong influencing factors upon Cerce's personality, inspiring in him a preference for Water-Type Pokémon. Okay, Kuroda. Your character has some potential; I like the fact that you took a risk and assigned him a hometown other than Ochre Village—variety is always nice, and I can appreciate that. However, it feels to me that this application is more than a little rushed. For example, saying that your character's clothes look like Brock is very lazy, and is not acceptable. Also, "pale" is generally a better substitute than "white" when it comes to describing complexion. Remember, this is an Advanced RP, so you won't be accepted so easily. Okay, Final. Now your application has some promise, but it seems to be a little cliched in some aspects—for starters, you seem to have ignored the fact that I said that unnatural eye colors were not allowed, meaning that your blood-red eyes are unacceptable. In addition, it's "Viridian" City, not "Veridian" City. Furthermore, when you say "tons of money", I am slightly skeptical—money levels between the characters should generally be the same. Also, Desna Adats is a cool name, but not for a male, I think. But whatever, that's besides the point. For your biography, you're trying to play tricky—even though the public doesn't know much about him, you are still required to explain his past in greater detail. Also, Viridian City is a pretty populous and high-tech place as far as cities in the Pokemon universe go in both the anime and the games. I do like how you made it a stop for the Magnet Train, though, so points for that. Also, you need to explain his motivations for coming to the Orlana region.

PERSONALITY: Nick is very friendly. He is never gets angered easily, and he never tries to be mean. Nick always tries to be friends with everyone he meets. He can be a little arrogant, and even rude by accident, but not often. Nick also jokes a lot, and enjoys laughter. Nick is energetic, always wanting to do something.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Nick grew up in Ochre village. Ever since he was a baby, he always liked pokemon. All their interesting shapes, sizes, and colors interested him. When he was 6, his parents started teaching him how to take care of pokemon. Nick learned all of the basics, and went on to study pokemon. His favorite were legendary pokemon. He loved all of the old myths, and wanted to obtain one himself one day. Nick studied all types of pokemon from then on. At the age of 10, Nick started his hobby of collecting berries. He would search wherever he could, and find new ones to try in various poffin (or pokeblock, whichever this rp uses) recipes. Being raised to learn about the things out in nature, and how to live in them, Nick was ready at an early age to make the journey out into the wilderness that was the Orlana region. Now 14, Nick hopes to start his journey with his very first pokemon.

Okay, DigiMaster. I got your PM regarding how you seemed to think that you were guaranteed a spot in the RP, and I must say, I'm a little disappointed when comparing your application to your supposed mastery of writing, especially when taking into mind the way in which you urged me to hurry up and play favorites, accepting you before everybody else. Just a heads-up, that's not the type of remark that I enjoy. Anyways, let's move on to the actual application. For starters, your character's name is a little weird - juxtaposing a commonplace name like "Nick" with "Detron" provides an odd effect which I'm sure is not what you were going for here. Next, his age - it's clear you didn't read this section, because it's stated that characters under 16 will not be accepted. For his complexion, you could have just stated that he was a light shade of brown, etc. You forgot to fill in his Pokemon Affiliation. Also for your personality, your sentence structure is killing me: "Nick is so-and-so", "he does so-and-so," again and again. Try to go for sentence variety, because I'm not really feeling your writing mastery here.

 

His biography is passable, I guess, if a little boring. In the future, make sure to capitalize the word "Pokemon", even if you won't use the e with the accent aigue. You're free to reapply and hopefully your application will be a little better next time - until then, not accepted.

 

 

 

Shradow: Yours is a pretty brilliant application over all. The only things I'm not digging are the extra "i" on his last name and the long silver hair. Is there a reason it's silver-colored, and is there a reason it's so fashion-missing in length? Anyways, haha, accepted. I like the sound of Daisuke (perhaps because the main protagonist of my current fanfic project is shares the same name with him, lol!).

Saiba, Atamagaii is Japanese for smart, witty, clever, bright, etc. It's a play on my character (I use the same name all the time, and my guy is always smart), and it sounds cool.

 

About the silver hair, I like silver hair. I'm a fan of Genis Sage if that means anything to you, and it's kinda viable for Pokemon. Look at Brendan (guy protagonist of the Hoenn games). And I'm not a fashionable person. What's wrong with a guy with a ponytail?

I edited... don't know how Pokemon affiliation wasn't filled out though... I specifically remember typing it. Oh well... and yea, I guess the personality wasn't the greatest, but I tried making it better. Also, I changed age, and his biography a little. It's pretty bland, but usually I do better on this thing. IDK what happened. All I can say is, if accepted, my RPing will be of much higher quality than my app. I guess I'm tired and that's affecting my ability to think.

It just seems to be lacking a lot in sentence structure, grammar, and character innovation. Marsuvees: Okay, Marsu, you're accepted; however, I'm counting on you to be active in this RP, so please don't go and pull something similar to what happened in Phantom Deity. PERSONALITY: Nathaniel is an excitable, bright individual. Hailing from Sunyshore City, he has grown accustomed to sunny weather, and the provided warmth and joy which that sort of weather can bring out in people has been encompassed within his personality. Nathaniel tends to make brash, foolhardy decisions, and unless provided with what he deems to be good enough reason to defy his judgment, he can be painfully stubborn.

 

BIOGRAPHY: Raised in Sunyshore City, Nathaniel often visited the City's Gym in order to study the raising of Pokémon, in the hopes of one day toppling the Gym Leader earning the Gym's renowned Beacon Badge. His brother, an accomplished trainer who had just defeated the Sinnoh Champion, had returned home to celebrate Nathaniel's 16th birthday, and brought with him a Gible, a rare Pokémon found only in Sinnoh's secluded Wayward Cave, as a present. Overjoyed with his gift, Nathaniel hurried to the Sunyshore Gym to challenge the current Leader. However, after suffering a humiliating defeat, he decided that he would first have to become a powerful trainer, just as his brother had before him. However, natural sibling rivalry led Nathaniel to the conclusion that he shouldn't journey through his home region, as he would feel greatly overshadowed by his brother's widely recognised accomplishments. With that mentality in mind, he journeyed to Orlana to stay with his aunt and uncle in Peach Town, to begin his Pokémon journey in a region untouched by his older brother.
