Great Show, it was renewed for a new season. Yesterday's matchup was the American SWAT vs. the German GSG9. It ended in victory for the SWAT, does anyone watch this show?

I love the comments for the videos. No matter who wins, they'll just start roaring that the other side should have won. :P

 

I personally love this particular comment for the GSG-9 vs. SWAT team (the SWAT team wins, BTW):

1) Too many people miss the point of the whole enactment of the battles. It only serves two purposes. First, it tells you who won the simulation at the end. Second, it's just entertaining. The fights are cheesy (seriously, it's pretty funny just seeing the spetznaz guy just go all "YA SPETZNAZ!" when he wins), and you can clearly see that they're pretty low-budget (IRA vs. Taliban in particular), but they're just damn fun to watch and are not meant to be technical or indicate anything regarding the results of the tests other than who won. Using anything from the enactments to support your argument is stupid and only makes you look like a dork.

2) The results are always up for debate. Stop acting like what they say is law. No need to whine if your preferred side loses; no need to be a troll if your preferred side wins.

 

Anyways, I think this show is great. Even if the tests can be a bit debatable at times, it's still fun to watch, both the tests and the staged battle.

 

My personal favorite so far is the Mafia vs. the Yakuza, although I also liked Pirate vs. Knight and IRA vs. Taliban.

 

As for Season 2, I really want to see for Al Capone vs. Jesse James, Somalian Pirates vs. Medellin Drug Cartel (Colombian pride w00t), and the KGB vs. CIA.

 

BTW, just out of curiosity, does anyone think that the show is a bit biased towards the Americans? (NY Mafia beat the Yakuza and SWAT team beat the GSG-9, but the Green Beret lost to the Spetznaz)

My fav pre-gunpowder was the ninja, and favorite post is the Mafia.

 

Also, I find it funny that the IRA had the closest victory (vs the Taliban) and the most crushing defeat (vs the Spetznaz).

they could use the same warriors and change the matchups, like Knight v. Samurai or IRA v. SWAT or something like that. On a side note, I may post a Deadliest Warrior betting thread on the polls section starting with the upcoming match (If I can start it now, it will be Alexander the Great v. Attila the Hun). Post on wether I should do this or not.

2) Random Dude is right, it is Al Capone, which is still awesome.

 

3)Also, like Season 1, Season 2 has one more ancient matchup than modern (Season 1 had 5 ancients and 4 moderns; Season 2 has 7 ancients and 6 moderns) i.e. they're virtually split down the middle. Your argument kinda has no basis to it. :D

Whoops, funked the pooch on Al Capone (been watching a lot of Scarface), but am I arguing?

 

What I mean to say is that I do not like modern matchups. I do like antient matchups.

I never said anything about the ratio of modern to antient matchups, so I apologize if you were confused.

 

I like how they're doing the Modern-ancient-modern-antient lineup this time around.

Also, people are going to get mad pissed, no matter who wins. Whenever one of our American people win, people are only going to roar out even more claiming that the show's biased and favors the Americans. People were already coming to that conclusion when the SWAT team beat the GSG-9. This is only the 3rd matchup between an American and foreign country. >_>

I am watching this series..the best part of that show is the way everyone trash talks each other.. did you hear the guy talking about his viking shield that's the biggest piece of wood your Samurai has ever seen..In that The attitudes of the guys is quite entertaining.

I especially love the banter that went on in Capone vs. James between J.W. Wiseman and Johnny Lew Fratto.
