Really? So you think Nintendo could of just have downloaded this program and slap some tiles on? Real games require genuine effort and hard work, not just pasting some templates on. OT: RPG Makers are stupid. It doesn't offer full customization, and even then, it's better to just learn C++ and program your game.
Guest Random Dude
It's true, better to make your own game than use programs that script it for you. I made a small shooting game recently on flash and although it was hard to do the scripts, it ended up almost as good as the ones you find online. MarbleZone
OT: RPG Makers are stupid. It doesn't offer full customization' date=' and even then, it's better to just learn C++ and program your game.[/quote'] Disagree. In my opinion, that kind of mindset is stupid.RPG Makers exist to give people a taste of what it's like to create a game, and offer the chance to set a plot in your head into motion and play around with it for a bit. Not everyone has the time, and certainly not the will, to learn C++ just to program a game they'll likely never be able to finish or make profit of.RPG Makers are for the casual crowd, and that will always be the bigger market. It's a product that warrants more immediate fun, and there's certainly nothing stupid about it if you do have fun with it. On-topic, I installed RPG Maker XP and play around with it when I have the time; haven't had the time to properly learn scripts, but even so, it's great to experiment all the different commands and watch everything fall into place afterwards. :)
Legokun
Someone who agrees with me, yay.Sadly i had to get rid of RPG maker 2000 because it was on a virtual machine that had a virus on it, so i plan to reinstall it later.Edit: Instead of 2000 i went with 2003, what is the difference? Brushfire
Right, I'm not only a ROM Hacker but I've dabbled into Game Development (alot more recently) ass well, and one of the things I touched was RPG Maker XP (which is a lot better than 2000) for Pokémon. I just recently got this program and are currently making an RPG.RPG maker allows you to make your own RPG.The RPG Maker 2000 program makes and RPG similar to EarthBound' date=' a Super Nintendo RPG that most of us have herd of yet have never played.[/b']If you have any graphics, feel free to post them here.Discus the RPG Maker 2000 and other RPG Maker versions here. OT: RPG Makers are stupid. It doesn't offer full customization, and even then, it's better to just learn C++ and program your game. Wrong. It's not "just pasting a template on". For true quality in the game you must learn the coding language known as Ruby, which is difficult to learn. The templates aren't always provided either, you'll have to make them if you wish to be unique. It requires years to make it and requires a lot of hard work. OT: No, you're better off learning Ruby, a better coding language and creating your own game. C++ is text-based and overly limited, as I found out when coding in Visual Basic. Ignorance like that is like saying ROM Hacking is simple and scripts are 'minor', when they are difficult to learn and create and provide a lot towards the game.
