"Now I activate my Raptor Dragon's effect, paying 300 Life Points to Special Summon him in Attack Mode with 300 more ATK and an extra Level!

Raptor Dragon swooped down and roared at Protaps. (2400 ATK) (LV6) (AKI/Ilana: 7600 LP)

"Now I Normal Summon Guard of Flamvell in Defense Mode, and Raptor Dragon will attack Protaps!"

Raptor Dragon rushed at Protaps, jaws ready to clamp around the Jurrac.

Shadow Drone Ilana triggered both her face-downs "I activate the Trap Card Hunting Instinct, Special Summoning another Protops from my hand." A second triceratops appeared next to the Shadow Drone "Now, I activate Covering Fire, increasing my Protops' ATK by my other Protops' ATK!" The triceratops roared loudly and plowed through the Dragon "Come on, one more Level, you know you want to."

[The Dragon Duelist]

Eli sat there holding his cards in his hands. "I need to practice." He put his cards in his duel disk and activated it. He drew his five cards only to see that it was what most would call the perfect hand "Yes. I can special summon Red Dragon in one move." He closed his eyes as he drew one more card. "Wow... this is literally a perfect hand." He put his cards back in his deck and started to walk along a pathway. "This place is acctually beautiful." He jumped up grabbing a branch positioning himself so he could jump on Red Dragon Archfiend.

AKI realized her options were running low. "I set 2 face-down cards and end my turn."

 

Meanwhile, Cici entered her servant's mind all the way from the Spirit World, and brushed up against the portion of Ilana that she had corrupted. "Hello, my sweet. How's life, besides that fact that I've turned you into a creature similar to your beloved Tara?" She then looked over at AKI and the other portion of Ilana, particularly admiring the child-like being in front of her. "Oh! How adorable! I could just eat you up!" Cici then turned back to SD Ilana as soon as the grasped the current situation. "Why are you trying to destroy her?!? You could just as easily take over her instead of remove her from your consciousness forever!!! Besides, there are parts of that Ilana that I might need!!!"

Shadow Drone Ilana held up one hand "Why would I want to keep my weaknesses?" She asked Cici "The part of me that loved that pathetic Tara, for example, why would anyone want to remember that? I love you and only you, and I live for you and only you." She concentrated for a brief moment.

 

"I end my turn." The real Ilana said, struggling with the words. She didn't play a single card.

 

"See? When I can do that to her, what good is she? Sure, if some otherworldly force rips out my soul, I can just give hers up instead, but that's why she'll always be locked up in the darkest recesses of my mind after I destroy everything that she is." She drew her card "Now, I Summon my third Jurak Protops and Attack Ilana directly with all three!" She laughed manically.

"Activate Trap Card! Inner Mirror Force!"

Activate only when your opponent's first attack during his/her Battle Phase is a Direct Attack, and your opponent controls at least 3 face-up Attack Position monsters. Destroy all monsters on your opponent's side of the field. This card's activation and effect cannot be negated or chained.

 

A shimmering field of energy surrounded AKI and Ilana, disintegrating the Dinos. AKI was laughing, along with the real Ilana. "I can't believe you totally fell for that! We psychically coordinated our move so that we would seem as pathetic as possible, and lower your guard as to what we were doing, and you took it hook, line, and sinker!"

The card's image warped and twisted until it became Mirror Force "I think you played the wrong card, cyborg. Now, since you were so helpful, I'll Activate my Hand-to-Hand Combat." Ilana said "Until the end of the Damage Step, all Spell and Trap Cards are negated, meaning that you wasted your Mirror Force!" She laughed again as the second Protops ripped through Ilana.

 

The third Protops, however, stopped short "Laval... Burning... Spirit..." Ilana said, sending one card to the Graveyard and causing a shimmering wall of light to meet the three Protops. The effort obviously exhausted Ilana, however, as her and AKI's Life Points dropped to 1600.

 

"You weak little fool!" Ilana shouted, violently angry that her victory was so callously delayed "I was going to let that pathetic Avatar take in Mistress Cici's powers as well, but now that you pissed me off, I'm just going to kill her."

James started thinking about the last three catastrophes again, hard not to with everything making him think of Mark and Tara. He pulled out his extra deck and looked at Stardust Dragon and Savior Star Dragon. Why Mark? He frowned, putting his cards away.

"I can't believe you just flew headlong into the oldest trick in the book." Drake said as a shimmering wall of light wrapped itself around her three Harpies and destroyed them, which Red-Eyes seemed to take some sort of satisfaction from.

 

Rayos looked at his new Dragon, then at his Tuners, did some basic subtraction, and came to the conclusion that whoever was handing out Signer Dragons had a really messed up sense of humor since all his Fusions were Level 7 or 8, his Transformations 6 and 10, and his regular Monsters varying between Level 1, 3, and 4. "Well, this is just not my day." He muttered aloud, holding up Spirit, his sole Level 1 Monster, and mentally communing with the six winged bird, who adamantly refused to be used as fodder for a Synchro Monster, let alone Black-Winged Dragon, who he shared some personal animosity towards.

"Ok, yes, I fell for that one. I end my turn by setting another facedown. It's your turn, and I must say, this duel has been quite good."

James looked up at the sky, then to Rayos, who seemed to be worried about something. James ignored it and looked at the duel. Jasmine, I hope you know what your doing. Drake is a strong one. More memories of when he first met Drake and Jasmine. Drake tagged withi him against Tara, and Jasmine... was just kinda there. James smiled and closed his eyes.

AKI was crunching numbers, trying to figure out what to do, until everything faded to white, and she was standing in some sort of computerized landscape with what looked like a cyborg embryo.

"Greetings, child of metal, fire, ice, and lightning."

"Who, or what, are you?"

"My existence is none of your concern, but for now, you have a job to do. Accel Synchro Monsters wil not win the day, but this will."

A card appeared in the mental AKI's hand, and she gasped.

"A card used in a duel between one legendary duelist against another. A card that caused a monster to be reborn, and a monster to be destroyed for all eternity. You have the replicas of the cards that are needed. All you need to do is keep this card safe."

"But what about Trident Dragion?"

"Fire will not defeat fire. What you need is light to pierce the darkness."

"Thank you."

"Do not thank me. Yusei Fudo and Jack Atlas each visited me in dire straits, and you will visit me again, as will someone who will be close to you. Her visits will number thrice."

"I understand."

AKI snapped back to reality.

"Hurry up, you hunk of metal!" Cici called out from nearby. "I'm bored, and you've been in La La Land for five minutes now!"

"Sorry! I draw, and I resummon Raptor Dragon at the cost of 300 Life Points!" Raptor Dragon flapped down onto the field. (2700 ATK) (LV7)

"Now I play Dragon's Brood!"

Tribute 1 Dragon-Type monster on your side of the field, and send 1 Dragon-Type monster to the Graveyard from your Deck. Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck. The selected monster cannot attack this turn.

 

"I tribute Raptor Dragon and send Blue-Eyes White Dragon to my Graveyard from my Deck to Special Summon Blue-Eyes White Dragon from my Deck in Attack Mode!"

A legendary white dragon appeared where Raptor Dragon once was. (3000 ATK)

"But I'm not done! I Normal Summon Kaibaman, in Attack Mode!"

A Blue-Eyes-themed superhero leapt onto the field, and posed dramatically. (300 ATK)

"Now I can Tribute him to Special Summon another Blue-Eyes from my hand!"

Kaibaman saluted, and disappeared to allow a second Blue-Eyes to come onto the field. (3000 ATK)

"Now I activate the penultimate card in my hand: Dragon's Mirror!"

A large draconic mirror appeared in front of AKI, and the two Blue-Eyes, along with a spectral Blue-Eyes, flew in.

"By removing from play my 3 Blue-Eyes, I can Fusion Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon!"

The mirror cracked, and a monstrous three-headed silver dragon roared onto the field. (4500 ATK)

"And now, for the last card in my hand, the one I just drew! I will Tribute Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon to Special Summon Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon!!!"

A bright light consumed the "Ultimate" Dragon-Type monster as a mechanical-looking dragon dispersed the light, yet shimmered itself, making it hard to look at. (3000 ATK)

"And my Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon now gains 300 ATK for each Dragon in my Graveyard, which is totals 6!"

BESD glowed brighter as it powered up. (3000 ATK -> 4800 ATK)

"This won't stop you, but it will be enough for Ilana to finish you off! Shining Neutron Blast!!!"

The immensely powerful dragon fired a burst of pure energy at the Shadow Drone.

"I Draw and sacrifice my Battle Fader, to Summon Volcanic Hammerer!" Drake said as his Spirit appeared on the field "Now, Hammerer, finish her!"

 

"My turn." Ilana said, forcing herself to draw with visible physical and mental effort. She took one look at the card she just drew, however, and nodded, a slight smile flashing across her face "I Summon the Level 2 Tuner Monster Laval Burning Verdant Temptress!" At her words, Verda appeared on the field and looked between the two Ilanas for a brief, confused second before appearing firmly in front of the real one "Now, for this trick, I'm gonna need your Dragon, I hope you don't mind." She was having a much easier time speaking now, resembling her old self more and more "I Activate my face-down Descending Lost Star, reviving my partner's Raptor Dragon, while I will then Tune with my friend here! Fires of destruction give way to my blazing love and passion! Synchro Summon, my heart and soul! Lavallady Justice!" After the standard Synchro Summoning holograms, a tall, robed girl made of stone and lava appeared beside Ilana "Now, I activate Laval Crimson Passionate Soul, equipping it to my Justice." She glared at Cici "I think you remember this little number from our last encounter? My Soul increases the Attack Power of my Lavallady by 200 Points for every Laval in my Graveyard." Warrior, Verda, Spirit, and two Burners appeared behind Ilana "That's a grand total of 1000 More points!" Lavallady's Attack Jumped from 2600 to 3600 "Now, Lavallady Justice, Passionate Blaze!"

 

The gigantic fireball smashed through Protops and dropped the Shadow Drone's Life Points to 300 "I activate Survival Instinct, Removing from Play my first Protops to increase my Life Points by 400. You'll still lose!"

 

"Lavallady Justice's Effect!" Ilana shouted "When there are four or more Non-Tuners in my Graveyard, I can Remove them from Play to inflict 200 Points of Damage to my Opponent's Life Points for each one! Spirited Fire!"

"Not if I can help it! I activate Trap Jammer, negating the activation of your Trap Card!"

The attack went through, dissolving the evil Ilana into shadowy ashes, but Cici laughed.

"You really think you stopped me THAT easily?!? I never meant for you to become a Shadow Drone! That portion was just the attempt I got wrong, but you've lowered your mental defenses enough for me to infuse you with my essence!"

She threw the askes at Ilana, who transformed into her normal self, albeit with only the eye tattoos, dark eyes, and the mark of Wiraqocha Rasca glowing on her right arm.

"Congratulations, Ilana! You're now an adjutant Dark Signer, a Dark Signer that survives off of the existence of another Dark Signer! You won't have any of the powers or abilities of a full Dark Signer, nor will you be able to wield an Earthbound Immortal, which means you won't be able to be corrupted by one, but the darkness is still in your heart, fueling your desire for revenge against your love! I will always be watching, and waiting. Come to me, and I will tell you how to free yourself of your curse..."

Cici cackled as she vanished from Ilana's mind, leaving the still-Dark Signer Ilana and AKI standing in the city of flames.

"I don' think so, Threatening Roar! Now you can't attack this turn." Jasmine sighed in relief as a lion head appear on the field and sent sound waves through the field. "You done?"

James hopped on his d-wheel. "I'm going ahead. Gale and Militum want to catch up with there family before we battle with Neos." James reved his engine. "I'll meet you at the outside of the Mystic Plasma zone, unless anyone needs me, i'll be between the Forest and Mountain." James drove off. Gale and Militum Appeared beside him, not as spirits, but in the flesh.

As soon as Cici left, Ilana's mental city's flames turned dark red and black and the island, representing the portion of her mind devoted to Tara, was incinerated, replaced with a condor made of the same fire as everything else. Try as hard as AKI and Ilana herself might, Ilana's mind was once again lost to the Dark Signer "Now, where was I?" Ilana asked, her Duel Disk reforming itself into a Duel Saber "Oh, right, well, technically this body won the Duel, and, as per my agreement, you're going to die." She twirled the sword like someone that knew what she was doing and slashed downward at AKI.

 

"I end my turn." Drake said, nodding "You've gotten better in the past year, I'm impressed. I actually had to Summon Hammerer to restrain Wyvern from eating you." The large black dragon snorted smoke "And, coming from him, being turned into a meal is a compliment. He's a very picky eater."

((Actually, Ilana fused the two parts together. Ilana has her old personality, but her body is still evil. So it was more of a draw.))

((But, once again, I digress.))

 

AKI grabbed the blade with her hands, and quickly sidestepped to avoid the slash, but before Ilana could do anything else, AKI plunged her hand into Ilana's chest. Black goo started flowing up AKI's arm, covering her body as one of Ilana's eyes reverted back to normal, along with her lothes, yet the mark stayed on her arm. As AKI was consumed by the darkness, she explained. "I'm using...part of my self...to transfer...some of this darkness...into me...Compared to most people...my soul...if I have one...which this indicates I do...is pretty pure...but this is...really going...to hurt...I need you...to do me a big favor...and get me...some biomass...in return...blood...or just organic...material...would be...nice....."

By this point, the mental avatar of AKI was completely covered in goo, which disintegrated.

 

Meanwhile, in the real world, AKI's comatose body started fizzing and short-circuiting as smoke rose up from her torso, her eyes bolted open, then dimmed as she barely managed to get her chest cavity open, revealing that most of what was inside had turned to a puddle of black goo, similar to the stuff her mental avatar had pulled out of Ilana. Black goo also seeped from various joints as AKI was seemingly dead...

As soon as AKI vanished, Ilana's body returned back to the way it was, effectively rendering AKI's attempted sacrifice utterly pointless. The newly Dark Signered Ilana woke up back in the real world and laughed at AKI's corpse, kicking her over lie a pile of clothes "You worthless Signer." She spat, making her Duel Saber materialize out of thin air with a snap of her fingers "Now, to finish what I started." She placed the blade at the base of AKI's neck and gave the sword a few practice swings, like a golfing teeing off on the 18th hole "Two down, three to go." She said, swinging the sword at the cyborg's neck.

The sword got stuck in AKI's neck joint, but not before some more black sludge seeped up the blade, and wrapped around Ilana's hand, eventually reaching the mark. A more sultry, seductive, and malicious version of AKI's voice entered Ilana's head.

The dark mark disappeared, along with all indicators of Ilana being a Dark Signer, as the sludge seeped back into AKI's battered shell, but before it retracted, it asked

 

Meanwhile, Rayos heard a familiar screaming in his head.

As soon as AKI absorbed every bit of Dark Signer, Ilana's appearance went back to normal and she slumped on the floor, unconscious.

 

Rayos, meanwhile, woke up from his nap with a jump as soon as he heard the screaming "Hello?" He asked, despite the fact that he was a good two miles away from the group "Anyone there?" He called again "AKI? Ilana? Anybody?" He shouted again, not hearing an answer. It was at this point that the kid began to panic, focusing his mind, specifically the portion he had reserved for Spirit in the human world "Spirit..." He whispered, cementing the link between himself and the bird "Spirit, is everyone OK?" He asked in a whisper.

AKI then flashed into his mind. She pleaded before returning Rayos to reality.

 

Meanwhile, Cici had noticed something irregular. "Hmm...the connection I have with Ilana...something seems to be...missing..." She pondered, and rushed out of the library she as in to go back to the scrying pool she had been using.

She checked on Ilana, who was unconscious, and mentally nudged her into waking up.

((Now for the big question: How in the HELL did AKI get back to the human world?))

 

Rayos gasped as he saw AKI's face in his mind "AKI..." He whispered "Spirit, I need a way back." The small six-winged bird, looking like a cross between an eagle and a sparrow, appeared on Rayos shoulder and brought him back to the human world. However, because of Spirit's status, a Level 1 Monster with low Attack and Defense, the effort of bringing Rayos back from the Spirit World drained him, locking the aptly nicknamed creature inside his card. "Sleep well, my friend." He said, slipping the card into his Deck and kicking Ilana's door open.

 

((New Rule: Cici can only enter Ilana's mind when she's conscious or comatose, not just passed out/sleeping.))

A familir face was standing over AKI's smoking, oozing chassis. She looked very similar to AKI's avatar, but a bit older, and a jagged scar over her blue eye, as well as black where AKI's white was on her bodysuit and in her hair. She carried an expression of sorrow and pity as she looked over her time duplicate's corpse.

"It's been a long time, Rayos." Itsu Solace greeted by turning around and hugging the only other veteran of the Paradox War in this timeline.

As soon as he saw Itsu, Rayos' eyes turned into the FIRE Attribute symbol and his hand erupted in a dazzling red flame. The clawed tips of his Duel Arm also seemed to extend by at least half an inch and seemed to sharpen themselves "Itsu..." He said, shaking her off and pushing her back a few feet with his flesh hand "What are you doing here? What did you do to AKI?" He demanded. His and AKI's Marks of the Dragon glowed a dazzling red as he spoke. "Answer me!" He demanded, his Wrist Dealer producing itself from his Arm, now inscribed with a smaller version of his Tail Mark.

Itsu was crying slightly. "Your future selves all greeted me so nicely, so I assume this is chronologically the first time we have reunited since the War. It's a pity this is the last time I wil see you again, even though you will see past versions of me four more times, but I digress. I didn't do this to her. She did this to herself to save Ilna from submitting to one of my creations. I assume you have already met her by now?"

[Blackwing-Master]

"Thanks for the compliment, but don't think i'll take it easy on you because of it. Draw! I activate my face down call of the Haunted to bring back Harpie Queen. Now I'll summon Harpie Girl i defense, set a card, and end my turn." She watched as Harpie queen appeared out of a cemetary and a a young pink-winged harpie appeared on the field.

James was near the Mountain reigon by this time. "Gale, if you want, go off to the forest and meet us there."

"Nah, I'll hang around for now and see this mountain with my own big eyes."

"Fine." James noticed his signer mark started glowing. "Wonder what's going on..." He looked back. "You two, go on ahead, i'll catch up." He slowed his d-wheel.

"Don't be too long." Yelled Militum, almost to the top of the mountain.

All of a sudden, the whole Crimson Dragon mark appeard on the side of a cliff, causing James' mark to glow brighter and burn more. Then the wall colapsed and James drove right into a cavern where a statue of a Dragon and a Warrior holding a sword stuck in the ground appeard before him.

"It's been a long time, hasn't it James?" The eyes of the dragon statue started glowing a red similar to that of the mark of the Crimson Dragon.
