A Tale of Two Styles [A7X DISC]

One of the things I like about Avenged Sevenfold is that they have two distinctly different styles of music. Their first two albums, Sounding the Seventh Trumpet and Waking the Fallen, were a heavier type of Metal than the Alternative Metal style of the more recent City of Evil and self-titled albums.

 

Which style do you prefer? Waking the Fallen was my favorite album, and I definately like the older style more than the new. But don't take my word for it. Compare some songs from each style (Most of the videos suck. Just listen to the songs.) :

In fact, I like songs from both types... But I didn't like 2 "screaming" metal songs: "Darkness Surrounding" and "Second Heartbeat". I think that I'm a "softer" type. But I still LOVE "Chapter 4" and "I won't see you tonight". Anyway, I think their best songs are the ones that combine metal with hard rock. For example "Unholy Confensions", "A little piece of Heaven" etc. They have hard-rock choruses, but all the other song is metal.

Conclusion: I'll go with both sides, cause I can't decide! I mean, Chapter 4 and M.I.A?? It's like choosing which one of your 2 kids is going to be killed!:-)

P.S. Not all of their videos are that bad... I liked the video of: Afterlife, A little piece of Heaven, Seize the day, Gunslinger and... I'll watch other videos to tell u!;-)

I Wont See You Tonight Part 2 is just as heavy as Darkness Surrounding. It's one of my favorites ^_^

Idk why, but "Darkness surrounding" annoys me... But "I wont see you tonight" PART 2(hm... you're right!:-)) is better.... Even if it has screaming, it isn't annoying. It is more epic. [i can listen to the whole song, without saying "End, end, end, end...;_;"]But I prefer part 1, of course.;-)

I've started getting into heavier stuff recently, that's why I like their older style now more than I used to. Darkness Surrounding is actually the song that turned me on to that style of metal. I've started listening to bands like August Burns Red and Protest the Hero.
