Ok fellow Card Makers. Im going to post here great ways to make your cards better.

The Picture:[Note; give credit to whoever made the pic you used always!] The picture is always important, when making your card always make sure the pic fits the cards type, name, and effect if nessisary. To make your pic even better there are a few tips.

1. try finding a holo maker to make the pic stand out even more

2. and for great pics i recomment Deviantart.com remember because its a yugioh card i suggest you look in the anime or prefered. fanatasy section.

The Name: The name of the card is just as important or possibly more important than the rest. Dont make monsters that say Dark Lightning Beast, instead choose something creative like(i use this in all my examples) Uriox-Lord of Dark thunder....now isn't that a much better name?

Ocg Ocg or Official Card Grammar. Is something all cards must have. Its the proper punctuation, spelling, and even abrevating. With out good ocg it can never be realistic and seeing theres alot of grammar nazis on this site members do sometimes neg rep for poor ocg.

ex.

bad ocg-> Flip your opponet can't atack this turn.

Better-> Flip: Your opponent cannot declare an attack during their next turn.

Notice the difference? remember always reread your work before you post the cards when your still generating them that way you can be sure to have great spelling.

Overpowering: Overpowering is a huge issue on the YCM forums. It becomes hard to make sure your card is not overpowered or underpowered when giving it an effect. Here my verson of an balancing card.

1 star- 0-300, even if it has an effect its best to keep it here.

2 stars- 200- 500, if it has an effect its normally a flip like peguin solider

3 stars- 500-800, effect cards may need tuning

4 stars-1000-1800, yes there are many 4 star normal monsters that go that high but if you give it an effect i recomment a 1500 or less attack.

5 stars- 1600-2000, five stars arent very popular but even with an effect keep it within this range unless it would make the attack above 2200

6 stars- 2000- 2300, even with an effect most 6 stars are in this range

7 stars- 2400- 2600, a 7 star should never go past 2500 but if you must only go to 2600.

8 stars- 2600-3300, never make a card much stronger than a blue eyes unless it has an effect that lowers it. what most card makers dont realize when measuring an effect monster against blue eyes is that blue eyes is a normal monster therefore an effect monster doesnt always match up.

higher than 8- i recommend not making anything higher than 8, if you must then make it a god or a good fusion

Card types

Monsters:

normal- normal monsters do not have an effect so i recommend giving them a great description. remember effects arent everything

effect- Effect monsters above 6 stars normally have a summoning condition like this card cannont be normal summoned or set. stuff like that. but either way always reread your effect to make sure it makes since and doesnt over or under power. for this i recommend you look at it from different senarios like

(The original attack of this card become the number of cards used to summon this card times 500(yea i know that haad horrible ocg...) well like chimertech overdragon if you use 5 monsters to summon it, that makes it overpowered. but if you use only 1 card then its underpowered. see!)

Ritual- Ritual cards always have a summoning condition and its always normal summon or set and most of the time Cannot be special summoned execpt for ritual summon.

Fusion- for fusion cards always put "quotes" around the names of the monsters used for making it.(do this with all cards) and it helps to do this

"blue eyes white dragon"-"blue eyes white dragon"-"blue eyes white dragon"

those are the monster cards. (ill do the rest later)

Punctuation and capitalization.

Ok first off. put a space after every period, comma, dash, and ?,!

then remember Nouns are capitilized. like Blue Eyes White Dragon.

or

The Castle of the Beast

Notice the of and the are not capitalized. you never capitilized them unless its at the begining of a sentence.

Ill add more later. plz enjoy and i hope this helps.

Vortex, in light of the recent posts with deviantart artists coming in and being upset, i think you should edit your tutorial to either not include the part about using DA, or to add a reminder to newcomers about the new copyright/permission rules that will go into effect tomorrow. better to be on the safe side (especially since they're using this thread in their argument post on DA to show how bad we YCMers are....)
