Okay. As some of you might know, I've been lobbying for a subforum to be created for the RP section in order for it to run much more smoothly that it has now. This idea has now been brought onto the table in the Mod Forum and is being worked over, so there is a very good chance it will be implemented. However, two different and distinct ideas have been brought up regarding the usage of the forum, and since I can't be one voice for everyone, I've decided to put up this poll for you to vote on one and post your opinions. Please note that this doesn't mean there is guaranteed a subforum; it's still in the works.

OPTION 1 - BASIC VS. ADVANCED

Everyone knows about the Basic vs. Advanced Clause debate that has gone on in this forum for so long, so this decision will ensure that you can have your cake and eat it too, or whatever the metaphor is. The two forums would be relabeled Basic and Advanced, and each will be held to the appropriate standards. However, only the Advanced forum will be given post count.

PROS: Having the option to RP without having the restrictions of the Advanced Clause. Advanced Clause supporters no longer need to deal with people who don't go to their standards.

CONS: Basic RP-like threads can be done in Games if you so want to. Possible migration away from Advanced to Basic, which would defeat the purpose.

OPTION 2 - OOC AND PLANNING

This will consist of a post-count-less forum in which one can create an OOC discussion thread about their RP. This would involve signing up for and revising apps, brainstorming plot ideas, and developing character interactions. Note that actual RPing will not occur in this forum. An opportunity for an RP training school can also be made in this forum if it is created.

PROS: More in-depth and wellplanned, and therefore successful, RPs can be created. People can give feedback during the creation process to insure that it will work out well, and they can discuss the course of the plot and work out issues in a publicly-available space.

CONS: More strict rules will be made regarding creating RPs in the first place. (E.g, needing a certain number of interested members in an OOC thread.)

OPTION 3 - OTHER

If you have another idea, post it here for the staff to look over and consider. Our ears are open.

I love these ideas.

Indeed the AC argument has been going far too long.

For the second option' date=' it's like this:

You have a subforum, where it is the OCG, planning, etc, of the main RP forum, where the actual RP takes, place, right?

[/quote']

Correct. That's the idea, at least.

Perhaps you could do both- A Basic subforum' date=' an Advanced subforum, and a Planning subforum?

Of the two options I'd honestly prefer the option of a planning subforum, but really I think it would be simpler to just divide it into three.

[/quote']

That doesn't seem likely at the time. If one works out well for a while, though, I'll consider pressing Pizza for the other. :/

That would take a lot of work. I think...

At the moment, I have no ideas to add to this topic. But I'll do some thinking on what we could do.

My choice would be to split advanced and basic. I'm no advocate for basic RPs, but this would effectively give people who are unable or unwilling to RP at an advanced level, "somewhere else to go." If anything, I'd request the basic forum to improve the advanced RPs, by leaving only dedicated RPers who are truly willing to put the effort in.

I say AC vs Basic. OoC planning is a bit unnecessary and can be done via over PM. The greatest cause of conflict and death of good RPs are people downright refusing to follow AC.

I completely agree with Otaku-sama but of course I would love to have an OoC forum but I think the Advanced vs. Basic is much more needed than an OoC.

AC vs Basic, but, I want to ask one thing - Will basic follow the old [bASIC] Tag, OR have the old RP rules, with limitations removed?

Planning can easily be done over PM(What I've done ever since I started,) or through the main thread itself, so that seems pointless.

All in all, I'll say ADV-BSC, but, I'd prefer if the rules followed the old rules, or else I'll change to 'Just keep it all in one ->.

DAMN! I was too slow >.> But yea' date=' separate the Advanced People (A.K.A: The Normal/Smart) from the Basic People (A.K.A: The Downers). But IMO, I say we go [HAIL']Hitler-Style[/HAIL] and kill all the Non-Advanced RPers!

Back on Topic, I don't see why the Good RPers must be Stuck with Downers. It's insults us and them. We put in the Effort, so we should stay and we should get the RP Forum (afterall, all/most Non-Advanced People don't really try >.>)

I agree with you halfway. I like AC vs Basic better, but I think it would be nice to have, as Rinne said, an RP Training School, I think.

Basic Vs AC. I think the basic RP forum being post countless is a good idea, as it may only appeal to people who just can't write.

However, if said people actually care about their post count they may flock to AC just to:

A) Increase their post count

B) Screw with someone's RP because they have no life.

@Raiser - Aw, I'm stupid just because I want to roleplay for fun now?

Honestly. Out of all the things that screwed with this section, the AC screwed it up the most. Honestly. Heaps of threads died, all the fun roleplayers left/got banned, etc.

If we have two sections, it would bring more people in, and eventually, we mgith be able to slowly let the saplings of the roleplayers here grow and move into the Advanced Section, until eventually we don't need it anymore.

The AC was forced growth, and some couldn't do it, as they weren't the best at roleplaying.

I've had my say, so I'll leave for now.

I say Advanced vs Basic - since the Advanced Clause trial, it killed off half the fun of RPing, which made me extremely tempted to quit YCM as a result. And anyway, I like RPing in Basic RPs once in a while. IMO, RPing in Advanced and Basic is like a working person's day - Advanced is like going to work for the day, and Basic's like going home and relaxing.

I choose AC vs Basic. I joined, then left for 5 months or so. When I came back. Basics were allowed. I joined a few, and Sometimes they were great, because they actually went somewhere. Sometimes they weren't so great, with not much communication and little is description. Advanced made people give more description, which was great, dont get me wrong, but it also made for RPs to die a lot sooner, ending up with the rps getting nowhere. The advanced clause got rid of most of the ones who couldn't write well, but when new people arrived, they forgot to read the advanced clause and started RPing basic style. This will give people greater choice, and will decrease the chances of locked threads and arguements. So overall, Option 1.
