Actually, I'm not opposed to this. In support convos we can have him gain courage and eventually leave him ruling Laus properly.

Nah. There's got to be a father-son betrayal somewhere. Since the Fang isn't going to do that, then Eric might.

No, they don't. We just need replacements. We need riding units SOMEWHERE, but we don't have to replace them with the same type of unit. Is anyone good enough with paint to make a new portrait of a made-up character?

So... has anyone bothered doing anything other than brainstorm characters it might be cool to play as? Draw up statsheets and growth rates, write up scripts, wrangle support pointers...?

 

If so, it should probably go to the first page. If not, then suddenly I have a job. Either way, methinks it's a good question to ask, politically.

I've been working out the first few chapters' scripts, but other than that, we've mostly been trying to figure out who we CAN play (as I doubt that Oswin has a good reason for joining the Black Fang), not just who "it might be cool to play as".

 

However, the problem I'm encountering is the tutorial. Gamemaster, judging by your applying post, you probably could answer this:

 

According to the Character Editor module, there is data for the Lyn's tale characters in and out of tutorial. Am I correct in my guess that the out of tutorial data is used if you start Eliwood/Hector's tales right off, without completing the tutorial first?

 

EDIT: I almost forgot: Does a module exist to eliminate the CGs from Chapter Events, or do I need to manually remove them?

That's certainly my guess. Unfortunately, I can't test that; mine ROM isn't pre-beaten, and I can't use Eliwood's/Hector's stories immediately.

 

EDIT: Actually, no; based on the support pointer editor, it seems that the non-tutorials are always used outside tutorial mode, regardless of whether the tutorial was played. Eliwood, for example, can only support non-tutorial Lyn, so...

 

EDIT: I almost forgot: Does a module exist to eliminate the CGs from Chapter Events, or do I need to manually remove them?

Oftentimes in FEVIII, if there's a long cutscene before or after a chapter, it will have a separate editing module similar to the chapter itself; that can be edited in Nightmare and probably deleted with proper use of a text editor. I haven't found similar files in my FEVII chapter set, though, so I'd assume a conversation editor module would suffice for the same job (mine don't work, so I wouldn't know). I don't know of any dedicated cutscene removers, though.

Hum. That is a problem. Actually, I can probably circumvent most of the problems that the tutorial presents (similar to how you can use Pure Water instead of a Vulnerary in Prologue and it accepts that as a "healing").

Bit of a stretch, IMO. Oswin is too good of a knight to get pissy with Hector and flout his orders.

No, like, an honorable discharge. Like, he received a grievious wound, and they took him off the battlefield.

 

So oswin, still with love for war, decided to leave to look for some way to help Ostia AND fight at the same time.

EDIT: Out of boredom, I came up with a support conversation for Eric and Rebbeca O.o

 

Logic:

 

I want him to talk to some 'commoner'

 

Nobles view Sacaeans as 'lesser', so probably someone from Sacae.

 

Someone who would be defenseless against close range attacks.

 

Rebecca fits the bill! O.O

Rebecca: Well, you see, being an archer, I prefer to stay away from the enemy's reach, but, everyone's too busy... so I was wondering, could you hold them off while I strike them with my arrows?

Eric: ...You wish me to risk my life for a commoner? Do I seem so foolish?

Rebecca: But, are you not fighting enemies either way?

Eric: Well... that's... either way, there are enemies to fight. Farewell. (leaves)

Rebecca: Wait for me! (follows)

 

 

 

It's a bit rough, since I came up with it while laying in bed at 9: 30 at night, but, it can work, as a C or B support.

 

But I wonder, is there a chance we could add Rebecca as a playable character without being too... how shall I say, out of character?
