This is why I hate melee fighting.

So many close calls so far, and despite knowing each other for a short period of time; Josh has been a reliable ally. Although unexpected, things have worked out for the best so far.

"Done!" Irenia called out. And with that, the last piece of the plan falls into place. Irenia was fully stocked on magic, ready to cast at any time.

"Hang on!" Daena yelled out as she grabbed Josh by the waist with both of her hands, with the Elder Bow pressing against his face. "Irenia, Two Steps!"

With just her strength alone, Daena would not be able to move Josh at all. But she was working alongside Irenia's Float spell, giving her a sizable boost not unlike the traveling technique used with it. When Daena's foot pushed off against the ground, all three were launched off to the side; which was really the only way they *could* go, with the father in front and the son behind.

Irenia was sweating profusely at the strain she was enduring. She never practiced like this; hell, she barely mastered casting Float on Daena alone. Now she had to cast on two targets, on top of getting ready to cast it once more. Once Daena's foot touched the ground about 7 yards away from Adrian and his father, Irenia blew the rest of the stored wind magic she collected on another casting of the spell... this time propelling the three forward.

Daena didn't look back. She had to navigate until Irenia ran out of juice, or she felt they were a good distance away. After all, their opponents couldn't hope to catch up on foot, and riding the Roc would give the group only one target to worry about. Of course, Irenia tired out relatively quickly, but after letting go of Josh and and seeing the distance they covered, Daena figured she would have plenty of time.

Glancing to her shoulder, Daena spotted Irenia laying unconscious, still holding on to her robe. "Alright Josh, let's not waste this chance!" Daena said as she pulled the drawstring a second time. Her mind flashed back to the tournament, where she found herself charging her elder bow against a foe. Hopefully this time she wouldn't be blocked by some broken skill.

Adrian and his father were, if I had to say so, pretty suprised that the tiny fairy had stored up enough magic to make two people float not once . . . but twice. Now with the enemy out of their range the father spotted Deana drawing the string of her bow one more time, the distance would only add to the power of her arrow, and he would have to close the gap quickly; making the range he was not at an impossabiliy. Either dodge or take the blow. Two decisions that, even for him, wasn't much to gamble on. Heaving his axe at Deana the father then made a break for the Roc, Adrian himself momentarily resting his sword on the ground to throw a spear at Josh.

"Deana heads up!" Josh yelled as he used his magic to deflect the spinning axe away from her and caused it to shoot off to the side. He had been so engrossed in trying to help Deana that he hadn't realized Adrian threw something at him and soon found that the spear had pinned him too the ground; Adrian had already taken up his sword and was running over to him. "Crap I can't believe I let them pin me down!" he thought as he saw the father, ridding the Roc, made his way to Deana and Irenia.

Iceis had somehow heard what Evelyn was thinking and to be sure, Evelyn didn't like it.

"What, so now I can't have a private conversation with my partner? Great." Evelyn said under her breath. At least Yaming was fine, Evelyn would have been in a far worse mood if that had not been the case. Flamme landed next to her within a few seconds. Apparently there were clothes to change into so Matsue sent Rift and Eithal off for firewood.

"Would you like me to leave to?" Flamme asked, trying to be considerate.

"Just go circle around a bit up high or something. Even at your normal size you wouldn't be much help with firewood." Evelyn told him. Flamme took off to get away from the women for a bit. Evelyn was quick to change, this being the second time she'd had to do so in this world and out in the middle of no where as well. At least this time there wasn't a group of students all waiting on her. She noticed her hair was going to be a bit of a problem for drying. It was really long and there was a lot of it. She'd probably need the fire's help to get it dry all the way through. In truth Evelyn was a little impatient at the moment, or perhaps restless described it better. She knew what she had to go about doing but it was a very slow process to go about it. Despite being happy to have made some friends, she still felt like just flying off with Flamme to wherever he might take her to see if she could go about getting home from time to time. But with Flamme at his current size that wouldn't work very well. So she just sighed and waited, as thinking about all that would only drive her crazy.

"What good is multitask if I must use two hands to hold this thing?" Daena muttered to herself as she thought of what to do next. The size of the arrow was growing. If Irenia was up, an aerial attack would be feasible, but she was completely spent. Two targets charging. Josh stuck on the ground on his back. The size of the arrow continued to grow.

"If you're stuck down there, could you take care of the flier?" Daena didn't wait for an answer, and started running towards Adrian. Not really quickly, mind you, since she needed to keep the bow strung and a bead on the boy. Plus, she had to run off to the side and take an indirect path in order to distance herself from the flying Roc as well. As mad as it sounded, all she needed to do is get close to Adrian...

"Quite?" Delano laughed "I think you mean quit. Also you use magic so don't go saying what you like to those who don't use magic." Delano said in a serious tone "Magic is not a simple but its also not there just for you to waste it on piontless acts" Delano said than got up and walked over to Kikiania "I wish this train would hurry up and get to the town so i can get off this metal beast and get back to traveling at my own pace."

"Hello I can't even lift my arms Deana! Deana?!" Josh yelled at the top of his lungs, but she ahd already went to attack Adrian. Rushing at each other Adrian would zig zag, trying to avoid being in her sights for an attack. He was getting closer and the chance of dodging her arrow was rapidly going down with each step. If he had his father's support from the air he would honestly not be very worried about her assault . . . but he had always told him to think as if he was all alone in the battlefield, so he did so. Now too close for a successful dodge and just barely out of range for his own attack, Adrian knew that this moment was perfect for her to strike.

Having been practically insulted by Delano, weither this was intentional is not know, Sir Irwin's foce turned into a scowl as the paper ripped itself into shreds. Seline picked up her bowl as her master nearly shoved it over as he stood, not actually meaning too, and walked over to Delano, "What is so important that you are rushing everywhere, hmmm?"

"Master, please don't pick on someone weaker than you," Seline said nonchalantly as she sipped a bit of the remaining soup, her eyes not even lifting up to look at Delano.

Evelyn was the quickest to change, probably not wanting to be seen, and had found Matsue's clothing a bit . . . different from what she would have expected; not frilly or girly in any sense, but more something she would have seen in a cliche pirate movie. Crystal and Yaming were the next to finish redressing, Crystal of course had to help Yaming get into the dry cloths, and they both walked back to see Evelyn and couldn't help smile, "I feel like there should be a damn parrot on my shoulder."

"Or a hook for a hand?" Yaming added in, laughing along with Crystal . . . at least pirate cliches seemed to be known in this world. After laughing at their jokes they watched as Matsue walked out, the pirate clothing looking normal for her, and her hair was completely dry; suprising Crystal, who asked how she had gotten it dried so quickly. Getting a sly smile she held up her index finger, "Want me to dry your hair?"

Delano laughed "Strength can't always be compared with what people can do as far as fighting. Even though you can't judge anything by appearance and also you can't compare magic and lancing because they are complete opposites. And as far as me in a rush thats just me i don't stick around in one place to long. Infact this world is to big to stay in one place and not wanting know what esle there is." Delano said looking out the window not even looking at the folks he was talking to. "Kikiania soon we can restock than carry on our travels exploring this world. As we travel we shall learn about many things, possibly fight, laugh, talk, and maybe even meet some interesting people along the way." Delano said to Kikiania as he petted each of her three heads.

Daena was a bit surprised that Adrian was still approaching; though he didn't make it easy for her, that's for sure, running erratically. She expected him to be more afraid of the growing arrow of light her bow was creating. It even seemed that he was used to combat, even though his parents were the ones who said that children shouldn't fight (And she was even older than him... probably). Still, his charge made things easier for her.

Here!

Daena stopped moving, now that she figured Adrian was close enough, moving only to keep him in her sights. Not wavering at all, Daena spoke the words she hoped would end this little skirmish.

"Adrian, I think you should surrender."

"Don't think so lass," the father's voice called directly from behind Deana as a sudden shock ran through her body, making it heavy as it travelled through her, and she couldn't turn to look behind her. But through Josh's eyes he had seen it all. He had been struggeling to get free the entire time and warn Deana, but she had been so focused on Adrian his words never even reached her. He had seen Adrian's father use the Roc to glide behind Deana as she focused on his son and land, without making enough noise to catch her attention, and then struck her in the back of the neck- a move that'd, with enough force, knock her unconcious. Adrian stopped when Deana slumped over and caught her before she fell, holding her in his arms as he looked up at his father, "You did not have to use so much force father . . . Jericho, get some servants out here to help her to her room."

"And what about me!?" Josh screamed at the top of his lungs as he tugged at his shirt, the bleeding getting worse by doing so, and Adrian looked at his father. Without a word the man walked over and wrenched the spear out of the ground, letting Josh rush over to Deana as they began to carry her inside, "Is she alright?!"

"Yes, but she'll be unconcious for at least an hour," Adrian said, a bit of worry in his generally calm voice, and they both walked in with the servants who were carrying Deana and Irenia. Now alone in their yard the mistress strode next to her husband, who had already delved into his thoughts about the two mysterious children who were neither Nomen nor fought like any Bellicosians he had ever been against, and only snapped out of it when his wife laid a hand on his shoulder; her long slender fingers working over his muscles to relax them.

"Did you notice her bow . . . and the way she held it?" he asked thought he knew the answer. She nodded and they both gave a quick glance at each other. Both were thinking the same thing. But in this day and age? The mistress began to head inside, but turned to face her love, "I'll go see if what we suspect is true. You should go shower, you're all sweaty . . ."

Giving him a warm smile the mistress then walked inside, leaving her husband to laugh at how forward a wife he had.

Having heard Delano talking about randomly moving about just to see things Sir Irwin gave a long sigh. He had completely forgotten he was talking to some random punk who'd strike at you quicker than ask about the situation; indeed a classic example of brawns over brains. Sitting back down Sir Irwin brushed the ripped paper towards him and threw it away, "I admire that you wish to see the world, so do we . . ."

"Uh hu," Seline added in giving the waitress the empty bowl and turned back to listen to her master, "But do you only plan on just watching? If you plan on helping people along your long journey then why not accompany us?"

"Ulgh!"

Daena was blindsided by the father... and didn't even notice it before it was too late. Of course... this meant that she had to release the energy arrow, but not while it was aiming at Adrian. With the last bit of energy she had she aimed her weapon a few degrees off to the side... however she would not be conscious to see whether or not Adrian was safe.

*****

When Daena awoke she was laying in an unfamiliar bed, with Irenia on a pillow next to her. The place looked fancy, especially compared to Daena's apartment. While the stuff she had back there probably cost more than what was here (in her own world at least), it was mostly functional, with few frills.

Irenia still was unconscious; and who knew how long Daena had been out of it; her sense of time was out of whack ever sense coming to this world. As she glanced around the room, the pain on the back of her neck reminded her of what happened.

Adrian! Daena sat up in the bed, despite the lingering pain. I have to make sure he is safe! Before she got out of the bed, she calmed down a bit, rationalizing to herself that the boy is probably safe; since she didn't wake up in a dungeon or something. For now, she just sat on the edge of the bed, and waited for Irenia to wake.

"Oh good you're awake," a maid said having stepped into the room, a pack of what appeared to be ice on a tray, and called out into the hallway, "Master Adrian, Sir Josh, she is awake."

The sound of feet rushing towards the room echoed through the hallway as Adrian and Josh came into the room, both happy to see that Deana was alright. Moving past Josh Adrian sat down on the bed and looked away, "I apologize for what my father did."

"Come to find out he was a Great General Deana," Josh said sitting down in a chair across from the bed, his fingers intertwining as he watched Adrian and Deana, "So we didn't have much of a chance in the first place."

"So how is Irenia doing?" Adrian asked concerned about the fairy, "And your neck?"

"No, no... it's okay," Daena replied to Adrian's apology. "I'm just glad everyone's alright." She still couldn't figure out what possessed his father to challenge Josh and herself so suddenly. Josh then said that the man was some sort of great general. She had no idea what it meant, besides the fact that he was probably skilled in battle.

"My neck's okay, mostly anyway. Irenia's fine too, just sleeping." Daena rubbed the back of her neck as she looked over her shoulder where Irenia lay, then turned her attention back to Adrian. "I must ask, though... Do you know why your father suddenly wanted to fight us? It was a pretty bizarre request."

"I-I'm not sure either," Adrian replied looking to the window, "My father was a Great General back when the Crista Luna Insula Pirates constantly invaded Nomen. But he has since retired. So I'm not sure why."

"I checked through the tamers system while it was working Deana, apparently a Great General is a second tier position . . . and a tough one at that."

"Can you keep up with Kikiania though. I travel riding Kikiania and she ain't a snail. We travel through varies types of terrian. Infact not to long ago we traveled up a mountain seeing a strange bird that sings using random songs" Delano said looking out the window. "And so your know i have both brawn and brains. I'm not an idiot and can think things through. However there are times were you have to act without thinking. Thinking is nice but you also have to be able to do not just think. I can think of being a legend, however thats not gonna happen unless i do something to make me a legend." Delano rumbled on than took a deep breath ready to get off the machine beast.

"So once again there are ties to the Tamers system..." Daena said outloud, mostly for her own benefit. Deciding to see if anything was working - anything at all, Daena reached for her housing unit... which was not there. Guess they took my stuff when they laid me in the bed.

"Adrian, do you know where my belongings are?" Daena asked with a puzzled look on her face. Honestly, she didn't have the chance to look all over the room, since she just woke up, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Adrian nodded his head and motioned for the maid, who had been standing at the door, to fetch them. It took her about three minutes to return with her Tamers Unit and hand it over before leaving the room. Once she went through her system she discovered that the Elder Bow had not been stored inside it, nor when she looked around could she see it.

"Is something wrong?" Adrian asked noticing her looking around for something.

Daena's eyes grew wide as she looked around the room in a panic. Everything was accounted for. Her bolts. Her dagger, her crossbow. Everything except one.

"My longbow." Daena managed to say. "I can't find my longbow!"

This happened before when she played, causing the other players to wonder why she would freak out over losing a longbow, not knowing what it actually *was*. After reattaching the unit to its harness on her waist, Daena stood up off of the bed.

Disturbed by Daena suddenly shifting the bed, Irenia finally woke from her slumber. "uuuuhhh... What's going on? she asked sleepily, rubbing her eyes.

"Wake up Irenia, the Elder Bow's gone."

"What!?" was pretty much the only thing Josh and Adrian could say, at the same time no less, and they both stood to start looking around. Though they looked they couldn't find the Elder Bow within the room. Not that there wasn't much places one could hide a bow of that size. Having torn apart the room looking for it Adrian's mother walked into the room with a smile on her face, "Looking for something children?"

"Yes mother," Adrian said turning to face her, "Deana has lost the bow she was using in our skirmish."

"Its not lost. Come with me," she said and walked out of the room. She probably knew where it was. But why not just say so? Why be so cryptive about it? Well they best way to find out was to follow her out into the hallway, a quick turn the the right, down another lengthy hallway and finally stopped in front of two large doors. Opening them up she walked into the room and stood beside her husband, who was holding Deana's Elder Bow, "I hear you were looking for this?"

"Yes," Daena said, now calm that she knows that the bow wasn't lost. Irenia was not amused that the bow wasn't in Daena's hands, but knew enough not to say anything.

"...Though this is the second time someone took interest in my bow like this," she continued. "Is there something going on? Is there something wrong with it? I know it's rare but I would have preferred you just asking about instead of causing me to freak out." She was still calm as she spoke, staring intensely at Adrian's father waiting for his answer.

"Oh it is quite rare indeed," Adrian's father said running his hand over the bow. The mistress apologized for removing such a valuable item away from her without her knowledge, but explained that she was unconcious at the moment. Looking at the bow the father then rested it on his lap and looked at Deana, "I have to ask, how did you acquire this bow?"

"It was a gift," Daena replied. "Well, more like the guy didn't want it anymore, so he gave it to me. I know it sounds strange, but while uncommon, that kind of thing wasn't unheard of." Daena sighed. "I don't know where the man who originally owned it got it from, and I spent some time trying to figure it out, but all I was able to learn was that it was called the 'Elder Bow', and it fires some form of energy," Daena said, shrugging her shoulders.

Everyone except for Josh and Ave looked at each other as if she was talking nonesense. Adrian stepped in front of her and she could see the disbelief in his eyes, "Are you absolutely sure that is how it happened?"

As Adrian waited for an answer his mother and father had begun to talk amongst themselves, too low for anyone else to hear them. Afterwards the mother asked a servant to fetch a book for her, which she needed as soon as possible, and then looked back at her husband. All this seemed to be lost on Josh as he looked around at the excitement of some magical bow that shot energy.

"Absolutely sure. In fact, there might be some record I can show you if we get back home... if we can..." Daena shook her head as to throw that idea from her mind. Of *course* she would be able to get home... the fact that she is here alongside Josh proves that there is some link between her world and this one, with Tamers forming some sort of link.

Daena glanced over Adrian's shoulder to his parents, who were speaking in a hushed voice before sending a servant off for some reason. They *know* something... she thought to herself. In some ways she was relieved; at last she might be able to learn exactly what made the weapon so special.

Having brought back the book, a very large book in fact, the parents shifted through it. As they looked through the book Adrian, Deana and Josh watched in curiosity; not even Adrian knew what it is they were looking for. Stopping at a specific page the parents ushered the children over and pointed to the picture of a man, Adrian's father speaking low, "Deana is this the man who gave you the Elder Bow?"

Daena peered over, and examined the man. Her memory was hazy; it's been awhile since she got the bow, but there were some similarities. Was it coincidence? Was the game playing tricks, passing an NPC off as a player? Or something else entirely?

"It's been awhile since the bow was given to me, but something about this man is familiar. He might have been the one." Daena said, nodding. "I'm sorry that I can't give a definite answer."
