... Somewhere' date=' in a far away galaxy...

"Mommy? Can you tell me the story again?" a young boy asked his mother, sitting comfortably in her lap. The room they were sitting in was dark, lit by a candle, which was giving off a small amount of light. The boy's mother was sitting on a small bed, fitting for a eight-year-old.

"All right, all right..." the boy's mother agreed, casting a weary grin at her son. She picked up a book with a Black background and small lights all over the cover, similar to Outer-Space. In white text in the middle of the cover, the book was titled "The Galaxy".

"Thousands and thousands of years ago, there were entities known as the "Galaxy Races". Powerful beings that resided in all locations of the universe," the mother began.

Then, a male voice took control of the story as the narrator.

"We of the Galaxy Races wished to protect what we had been given. We were not selfish people, but those of the corrupted races around us had undoubtedly become selfish and ruthless. We longed to stop this corruption, and become a peaceful race once more. Suddenly, many years ago, one girl made us realize our goals. We became a peaceful race once more."

... Rather, she saved everything. With mere cards."[/i']

Before anyone asks, yes. The Galaxy Races were inspired by Gurren Lagann's Spiral Races.
--- Chapter 1: The Clusmy Beginning ---

Our tale begins in the bustling city of New Domino. Everything is peaceful in this frenetic metropolis, though one could see it as being incredibly busy.

...Who that heck is that?

"No! Noooo!" a female voice cried. A brunette-haired girl wearing a blue buttoned coat-like shirt with a brown skirt was running through the park. Gasping for breath, she slid around a corner, her black colored shoes skidding on the walk. Suddenly, the enormous black bag around her shoulders became dislodged, and she turned around frantically, hoping to catch it.

"I'm gonna be so laaaaate!" the girl whined, as her bag thudded to the ground. She ran like the wind through the streets, bumping into stands and store windows as she passed. Obviously, she was late for something.

"Hey! Watch out!" an old man yelled out to the girl, but it was too late. He braced himself.

The girl turned her head back in surprise and blindly ran straight into a pole.

"Owww!" she cried while holding her head. "Ow. Ow. Owww!" She fell to the ground, sobbing.

"Are you... alright?" the man asked, concern showing on his wrinkled features.

"No! I just ran into a pole like an idiot! I'm not alright!" the girl replied, bursting into a flood of new tears.

"...Where are you headed?" the old man asked, looking quizzically at the young person before him.

"Duel Academy. Why?"

"Oh! There? I know a shortcut," the man said excitedly, a twinkle in his eye.

"You do?! Oh could you tell me please?! I'm REALLY late and I-" The girl's hysteria-caused screaming rang through the streets and the man quickly put his hand over her mouth, his hearing aid buzzing.

"First of all, calm down. Secondly, just go left and cut through the Neo Domino Hospital parking lot. ... I'd recommend stopping in that Hospital first," the man told her, chuckling. He directed her by pointing at the sidewalk to the right of the girl

"Thank yoooou!" she called shrilly. She was already running off. The old man clapped a hand to his face, bemused.

Who is this doofus? he thought to himself.

--------------------------------

Meanwhile, in a Dueling Arena...

"Next!"

A teacher with a bright-purple dueling coat yelled out this oft-repeated order. Many younger duelists in the arena were dueling different teachers with purple coats. Perhaps to qualify for their Entry Exams?

"Could we possibly get any more terrible duelists?" a girl spoke coldly. There were two girls leaning against the wall near the Entrance, watching the frantic Dueling taking place in the main arena.

The girl who had spoken had long blue hair and a blue Duel Academy coat with coattails. She also wore blue pants. All of this blue seemed to match her blue eyes, yet not her gold earrings. The other girl had short red hair and green eyes. She didn't seem to wear the Duel Academy coat. She was clothed in a blue denim jacket with a matching denim skirt. Under her jacket, she also wore a blue shirt covered with a white-flower design.

"Oh, they're not that bad..." the red-haired girl mumbled, feeling sympathy for the rookies.

"...Are you kidding me? There's an idiot down there using Griggle as his main card," the blue-haired girl said, incredulously.

"Let me rephrase that. What I meant was, not ALL of them are that bad," the other corrected herself.

"When is a decent duelist going to enroll? I need a good duel. Other than you, that is." The blue-haired girl looked down upon her companion.

"Aww, I didn't know I was that good,"

"You're not. I'm saying that to flatter you."

"Ouch..."

On the other side of the arena stands, most of the teachers were talking feverishly to another teacher in an orange jacket.

"Mr. Crowler-" a teacher began.

"Nono. Please, call me Larry." said the orange-clothed man.

"... Riiiight. Larry... It's almost time for us to finish up here."

"Already? We only got like, what, seven students that passed? People need to stop thinking Neos Fusions are meta," Larry remarked, chuckling.

"Well, there is one student left. But she isn't here," another teacher piped up.

"...This is sounding familiar to a story my brother told me about," Larry put his chin on the back of his hand in a thinking position, thinking of his brother, Vellian.

"So, are we done?" a tall student in a blue coat asked, eagerly. He looked like an average Obelisk Blue student although, he had hair similar to a certain "Princeton" character.

"Pretty much. That student hasn't shown up. Go ahead and tell your Obelisk Blues to get ready to go," Larry replied.

"I don't even know why you guys make us watch duelists like those. They're all terrible, and they don't even compare to those of us Obelisks," the blue-coated teenager remarked, sneering.

Larry paused and looked at the boy. "...Proud of how great and awesome you are at dueling, aren't ya Drake?" he asked, a hint of testiness in his voice.

"Nah, I'm just sick of horrible duelists," Drake said, leaning back in his seat.

... An hour later...

Everyone was packing up and leaving. Suddenly, one of the girls near the entrance heard footsteps.

"WAAAAAIT!" a shrill voice shouted. A girl ran so fast past the other entrant girls, she looked like a blur.

"I'm here! I might be a litttttle late, but I'm here!" the girl shouted obnoxiously as she was running down to the arena. Suddenly, she tripped on a stray leftover card and tumbled down the stairs until she slammed into the wall.

"Ow!" she cried. the tears coming back.

"...Who is this idiot?" Drake asked, a shocked expression on his face.

"...Good question," Larry replied quizzically.

"You are...?" Larry asked as he walked down the stairs towards the girl's trembling frame.

"My name is... uhh... gimme a sec," the girl spoke, scratching her head.

"She must've hit her head HARD... but wait, maybe it was already like that," Drake jeered as some other students started laughing.

"Umm... Umm..." The girl was struggling to remember her name. She started rubbing her head faster, sending stray bits of hair flying off her scalp.

"I can't remember!" she yelled, embarrassed.

"What?" Larry bluntly asked, shellshocked.

"Arimi?" the blue-haired girl near the entrance asked.

"Sis! You're here! ...But, I'm pretty sure that isn't my name," Arimi replied, her head still buzzing from the impact.

"Well. Looks like our favorite person is here," the denim girl chuckled as they both began walking down the stairs.

"Jane... my head huuuurts..." Arimi whined as they both walked up to her.

"It's almost like she hasn't changed." Red Hair whispered to Jane, who rolled her eyes.

"...You two know her?" Larry asked, confused.

"Yes. She's my little sister," Jane replied.

"Poor Jane, must be hard having an idiot for a sister."

Drake looked around, imitating Arimi's fall, as the other Obelisk students began laughing.

"You want me to come up there?" Jane threatened. The Obelisks all stopped, and Drake groaned.

"Casey! You're here too!" Arimi said to the other girl in the denim jacket.

"Surprisingly." Casey remarked.

"...Are you... the last student..." Larry quickly turned around. Please say no, please say no, please say no... he thought feverishly.

"Yes!" Arimi answered as Larry hit his head into the wall, cursing his bad luck,

"Ouch. An idiot for the test..." Drake said.

"I am not an idiot!" Arimi shot back.

"Yes, you are." Drake mimicked her voice.

"Am not!"

"Are too." Drake was enjoying getting this little squirt riled up.

"Am nooooot!" Arimi was swinging her arms around.

"COULD YOU TWO PLEASE STOP?!" Larry yelled, his booming voice echoing throughout the arena.

"Yes sir," Arimi and Drake quickly answered.

"Good. Now then, be thankful that I'm a nice teacher. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to-"

"You're gonna let me duel?! Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou!" Arimi hugged Larry, who pulled back.

"...Get offa me," Larry grunted as Arimi let go.

"Sorry," she said, embarrassed.

All the students went up to the stands as Larry stood on the left side of the arena and Arimi stood on the right. Larry placed a Gear-like Duel Disk on his right arm. A gear started spinning and the red sphere in the Disk began glowing. Arimi placed a normal, plain, boring, regular Duel Disk on her right arm, an expression of excitement plastered on their faces. They quickly inserted their decks into their slots, and the Disks shuffled their decks for them as they both yelled:

"Duel!"

Arimi: 4000 LP

Larry: 4000 LP

The new students gasped as the Life Point count and other information about the duel appeared on the screens on the top left and right of the arena walls. Drake smirked.

"Let's see if our little Arimi got any better..." Casey said expectantly as she looked down upon the duel.

Larry and Arimi drew their starting hands from their respective decks. Larry seemed to have drawn good cards, for he grinned toothily at his hand. Arimi was looking at her hand and couldn't hide the fact that she got a terrible one.

"Let's begin!" Larry spoke, shooting a determined glance at Arimi. He placed a card down in his Monster Zone. Arimi's eyes widened as the hologram of the monster materialized in front of her. It was the Trojan Horse. [1600/1200 Level 4]

"Now, I'll Set two cards and end right there." Larry announced as he set the aforementioned cards in his Spell/Trap Card Zone. He crossed his arms, waiting for Arimi to commence her turn.

"Umm... my go..." Arimi said nervously.

"Uh oh. I think she got something bad." Casey told Jane, concerned.

"Oh boy." Jane responded flatly, concentrating on the Duel.

"What's this all about?" Casey and Jane started as a male voice spoke behind them. They quickly turned around and stared at the intruder, a man with a beard wearing black clothes.

"Heeeey Mr. X-L." Casey greeted, sighing in relief.

"Who is that?" X-L asked, peering down at little Arimi on the main floor.

"My... sister." Jane replied, a bit embarrassed.

"...Your sister you say? Interesting! She looks like a fun person! Maybe we could meet after she gets in!" X-L spoke excitedly, a blush creeping over his cheeks.

"If she gets in." Casey added sharply, bringing X-L back down to reality.

"Don't talk like that! She'll get in or I'll MAKE Larry accept him!" X-L huffed.

"Oh boy, he's gonna make all hell break loose if he asks." Jane remarked to Casey, who giggled. They all turned back to watch the Dueling scene unfold below them.

"Alrighty! I got something good!" Arimi yelled, a wide smile on her lips.

"...Did she seriously just shout that out?" Drake asked the other Obelisks, surprised at her stupidity.

"I activate Gold Sarcophagus! I can select one card in my Deck and remove it from play!" Arimi explained to Larry as she pulled her deck out of its slot and fanned the cards out. Grinning, she selected one and placed it into another slot of the Duel Disk. As Arimi put her Deck back, a golden chest appeared on the field, its top sliding off. The card that Arimi selected hovered over the chest, and dropped itself in. The lid of the sarcophagus slid shut and disappeared.

"Now, I'll Summon... Cyber Valley! Now I'm done," Arimi announced excitedly as she placed the card down in her Monster Zone. She let out a happy gasp as the card triggered the Summoning of the LIGHT monster, Cyber Valley. [0/0 Level 1]

"Lovely. My turn," Larry said airily. He drew a card and smiled. "Since you're going against me, I won't be holding any good cards back."

"Huh?" Arimi questioned, a dumb look upon her face.

"It means that he's about to kick your ass." Drake explained, drawing icy stares from Jane and Casey.

"Ooooh! ...Wait, what?!" Arimi looked at Larry questioningly as she put her hands on her head in fear. Larry laughed and held up a card.

"Aaaaaaaalrighty! You all know what's coming! Hit it buddy!" Larry yelled as The Trojan Horse transformed into a small colorful orb.

"You should know, Trojan Horse counts as, not one, but TWO Tributes for a EARTH monster!" Larry shouted, his eyes glowing. Arimi nodded nervously.

"Appear now!" Larry commanded, slapping his card into a new Monster Zone. The orb containing the Trojan Horse disappeared, and many gears rose up out of the floor. Arimi watched in shock and fear as the gears clanked together, forming the body of a new monster. The machinated metamorphosis continued until a head was formed. A single red eye glared at Arimi shining through the black face of the monster, Ancient Gear Golem. [3000/3000 Level 8]

Arimi screamed in fright as the Golem leered down at her. "Like my buddy? Too bad if you don't, because he likes you!" Larry cackled, making Casey shiver.

"Look at this newbie shake in her shoes! Let's hope she doesn't fall over!" Drake mocked Arimi along with some other students.

"...She's not doing so good." Casey whispered worriedly to Jane.

"What ever made you think that?" Jane asked, quite irritated, an icy pallor clouding her expression.

"Oho... this is gooooood..." X-L commented dreamily, gazing at the Duel.

"My sister is already staring up at one of Larry's aces and that's good?" Jane asked angrily, turning to face X-L.

"...She gets points for at least not giving up!" X-L said hurriedly as he tried to make it so Jane wouldn't... kill him.

"Well it's not the eight thousand Life Point rule. So let's keep watching and hope Larry doesn't get any free hits." Casey told them both as they turned their attention to the duel. However, Larry was just standing there as he was watching Arimi panic.

"No, no, no, nooooo..." Arimi moaned, her face in her hands.

"You done? I'd like to attack some time this year." Larry asked, chuckling at his own joke. Arimi lifted her head up and struggled to look at Larry.

"Yes..." she replied, sobbing anew.

"This. Is. Priceless." Drake drawled, relishing the beatdown of a newbie.

"Alright buddy! Ultimate Pound!" Larry yelled the name of his Golem's attack as its gears began revolving. The machine thrust its fist at Cyber Valley.

"Wait a minute, I activate it's effect!" Arimi screamed suddenly. Cyber Valley immediately transformed into a mechanical wall, stopping the Golem's fist and disappearing.

"I can remove him from play when he's attacked to draw a card and end the Battle Phase." Arimi explained proudly as she drew a card.

"Heh. I'm done." Larry then smiled. I'm glad that she at least knows her Deck. Otherwise, I wouldn't have attacked.

"Okay... My turn..." Arimi closed her eyes and drew. Cracking her eyelid open, she cheered. "Yay!"

"Yay?" Larry asked questioningly.

"I can Special Summon this card if you control a monster and I don't!" Arimi placed another card in her Monster Zone. With a familiar burst of light, a Dragon with a Machine-like structure was Summoned.

"Cyber Dragon?" Larry asked, paling. Cyber Dragon looked down at Larry with a intimidating look on its face. [2100/1600 Level 5]

"Now I activate the Continuous Spell card, Machina Armored Unit!" Arimi smiled as she placed the card in her Spell/Trap Card Zone. The card was visibly enlarged as it appeared behind Cyber Dragon.

"Machinas or Cybers. Pick damn it." Larry said, miffed, as Arimi then activated a second copy of her Spell. "Uh oh," Larry said, paling again.

"I'm done!" Arimi ended her turn, bouncing on her heels.

"So you want me to either wait for a Heavy Storm, or attack and let you get two Machine-Types with a power of two thousand or less?" Larry asked Arimi, a piercing look in his eye.

"Yep!" Arimi replied, her little frame overflowing with excitement. She giggled.

"...I'm in a good mood today since my buddy is out. So I'll let you have some fun." Larry drew and pointed at Cyber Dragon. "Let's go buddy! Ultimate Pound!" Ancient Gear Golem threw back his right arm as he smashed his steel fist straight into Cyber Dragon, destroying it on contact. It exploded into holographic yellow shards that flew past Arimi.

Arimi braced herself by putting her arms in front of her protectively, but the force of the attack thrust her body back a bit. Her Life Points then dropped down by nine hundred. (Arimi: 3100 LP)

"Now that you destroyed Cyber Dragon, I can use both Units to Special Summon two LIGHT Machine-Type monsters with a power of two thousand or less!" Arimi cried, as two cards flew out of her deck and Summoned themselves. Both appeared as smaller and less advanced versions of Cyber Dragon.

"Cyber Dragon Zwei? Two of them? Uh oh..." Larry said with a panicked look on his face. [1500/1000 Level 4]

"This nub isn't half bad..." Drake commented to his Obelisk cohorts, who chuckled.as Arimi glared at him.

"I am NOT a nub!" she protested.

"Are too." Drake smiled. Here we go again.

"Are not!" Arimi shouted hotly. Jane put her head in her hands.

"Shaddup!" Larry broke up their argument with his authoritative voice. Drake chortled. Larry rolled his eyes and turned back to Arimi.

"You're doing great! ...Now here comes where you have to actually hit me!"

Arimi smiled at Larry's halfhearted compliment. All the other students and teachers were watching the duel intensely as it progressed...

Who would emerge victorious?

--- Chapter 3: Gain Entry - Part 2 ---

Arimi: 3100 LP

Larry: 4000 LP

Field:

Arimi:

- Cyber Dragon Zwei x2

Larry:

- Ancient Gear Golem

"Isn't this just fun to watch?" Casey asked Jane, a sparkle in her eye.

"Fun? How?" Jane responded, sounding confused.

"I meant it's fun watching our little Arimi survive..." murmured Casey, leaning over the stand railings to get a better view.

"I'm done." Larry announced as he let his arms down.

"My turn then!" Arimi looked down at her Deck as she placed her fingers on the top card, the cool cardboard brushing her fingertips. Obviously, the situation was quite dire. Facing a monster with a power of 3000 ATK and not having a good monster to fight back with was pretty much a one-sided position. Arimi, her hands shaking, drew and looked at her new card.

"...Well?" Larry asked testily. He was growing tired of Arimi's slow move-making.

"Oh yeah! Gold Sarcophagus gives me the card back!" Arimi remembered as the chest reappeared and its top slid off. The card floated out of the chest as it flew into her hand.

"...And?" Larry remarked.

"Umm..." Arimi's hands shook as she hesitantly Set a card in her Spell/Trap Card Zone. The card appeared face down on the field.

"That's it?" Drake asked, disappointed by the anticlimactic conclusion of Arimi's turn.

"I'm... done." Drake groaned as Arimi shakily motioned to Larry. Larry nodded and commenced his turn.

"Good." Larry quickly drew his card and slammed it in his Monster Zone. Did he know exactly what he was going to draw? Students gawked at the director in surprise. Larry flashed his glittering teeth, revealing a knowing smile.

"Appear!" Larry commanded as multiple gears again rose up out of the floor. Arimi shivered. This Summoning was similar to Ancient Gear Golem's! Her fears were disproved however, as one of the gears spun into the air. The gear came to rest on the growing structure, and a lance spouted out from the spinning cogs. Arimi balked as another gear then rose up and grew into a shield, resting on the other side of the cog heap. The rest of the gears clanked together and began spinning. Larry had formed another monster in a similar manner to Ancient Gear Golem.

"Ancient Gear Knight!" [1800/500 Level 4]

"Aw man..." Arimi glanced at the metallic knight, then at Larry. A sudden thought popped into her head, and she grinned.

Wait a minute, Knight is a Gemini monster! Meaning...

"Battle!" Larry screamed at his Knight. The mechanized terror clanked towards one of the Cyber Dragon Zweis.

"Bad move! Since he's Normal Monster right now, he won't have that stupid Ancient Gear effect when attacking!" Arimi called gleefully. She pointed to her face down card, and activated it. The purple sheen of a Trap Card was seen.

"Magic Cylinder? What the hell?" Larry groaned incredulously as the Knight blindly rolled into the first Cylinder that appeared in front of Cyber Dragon Zwei. A second Cylinder appeared above Larry and the Knight fell helplessly to the earth out of the tube, his lance striking Larry's Duel Disk. (L: 2200 LP)

"How the hell did he fall for that?" Drake asked, looking to his posse for support.

"Maybe he was playin' stupid?" another Obelisk supplied, sniggering.

"Shut up. I'm thinking." Drake scratched his head, and his eyes lit up. "Hmm... maybe he was playing stupid!" The other Obelisk opened his mouth to point out Drake's repetition, but decided against it.

"Eighteen hundred damage, awesome!" Jane exclaimed, exchanging a rare high-five with Casey, who grinned.

"The duel isn't over yet! My man Larry will pull through!" X-L yelled, his face flushed, sweat dripping off the tip of his nose.

"Don't say that!" Jane whirled on X-L, who hid behind Casey's chair in fright.

"I'm setting a card and ending it right there." Larry declared as he placed a card in his Spell/Trap Zone and ended his turn. Arimi grinned as she started her turn.

She drew, knowing that whatever she got, the card she pulled couldn't possibly be that bad.

"Oh!" Arimi clutched the new card to her chest as she sighed happily, an expression of bliss gracing her face.

"Hey! If you got something good, could you PLEASE stop being so obvious and just play the damn thing?!" Larry shouted. Shocked in action, Arimi quickly set the card in her Spell/Trap Zone.

"There's no reason to be rude about it!" Arimi sputtered, and ended her turn.

"Why can't this nub just lose already?" Drake asked irritably. She's just stalling! What is Larry waiting for?

"My go. And if you don't have something good, you're done." Larry announced airily. Arimi started to fidget nervously.

"I'm about to show you the difference between a regular duelist and an experienced one!" Larry declared, a wild look in his eyes.

"Too late. He's been doing that this entire duel." Drake remarked, drawing chortles from his blue-clad followers.

"Oh yeah! Larry is about use the card!" X-L said, bouncing in his seat. Casey and Jane looked back in surprise.

"What card?" they both asked, identical expressions of confusion gracing their faces.

"If you thought Ancient Gear Golem was awesome, wait until you see this! I activate..." Larry stopped, weighing his options. ...She's still starting out. Maybe I shouldn't...

Shaking his head, Larry then placed a card back in his hand and grabbed another one. "Polymerization, baby!" Larry cheered, drawing gasps from his pupils.

"Huh?!" Realization dawning on her, Jane then stood up, rare panic showing on her face. "Larry, you wouldn't!"

"Hell yeah!" Drake gave a mock salute to Larry as his Obelisks gleefully joined in.

"Polyme- what?" Arimi asked, unfazed by the sudden commotion.

"With this, I can fuse monsters on my field and hand together! So I'll be fusing Golem, Knight, and another Ancient Gear in my hand!" Larry plucked the Gear from his hand, inserting it into another Disk slot. The holographic knight broke into pieces as its gears started meshing with the Golem's. More gears appeared on the monster, clanking and clicking into place. The machine took on a golden hue as lightning sparked from it's body. An enormous metal claw replaced its right appendage and the new machine creaked as it assumed a horseman-like appearance.

"Arise, Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem!" Larry screamed, waving his arms excitedly. The mechanical behemoth roared, stomping the ground. [4400/3400 Level 10]

Arimi literally screamed in terror as the ground shook around her. "...Wait a minute, I activate Bottomless Trap Hole!" she shrieked, reaching for her Disk and activating the purple cardboard. A Trap Card flipped up but Larry was already thinking one step ahead of the rookie. "Sorry! I activate Dark Bribe!" Another card flipped up, countering the hole, which disappeared. "Aww," Arimi groaned, drawing a card.

Larry grinned as his new Golem lifted it's claw into the air, ready to strike. "God Pound!" Larry shouted, and the machine smashed its claw into the floor, immediately destroying a Cyber Dragon Zwei. The force of impact blew some of the students and teachers on their backs. Arimi flew back as well, but landed gracefully on her feet.

"Zwei..." Arimi managed, her voice tinged with a saddened tone. (Arimi: 200 LP)

"I'm done!" Larry yelled, motioning for Arimi to commence her turn.

"Hell yeah!" Most of the Obelisks cheered, Drake gleefully leading them, pumping his fist into the air.

"She got crushed! Just like I told you!" X-L pointed at Jane, a silly grin plastered on his face. Jane's icy, blue eyes narrowed into slits.

"Quiet, damn you!" she hissed loudly, raising her fist in rage, about to strike. Frightened, Casey grabbed her wrist

"Don't. Wait for the last second." Casey told her, and Jane reluctantly put her hand down, her pale face flushed with anger.

"Kind of a cliche thing to say..." X-L commented, drawing a sour look from Jane.

"But it's true. If you do that, the impossible will happen." Casey responded evenly, her eyes on the duel.

"The impossible?! My sister is facing a monster with unbelievable power, and all she has is a puny Cyber Dragon Zwei! What kind of miracle could she pull out of her ass to win?!" Jane snapped icily. X-L and Casey stared at her in surprise.

"Not very confident in your own sister's abilities, are you?" X-L asked, softly.

Jane sat back down, regretting her outburst.

"No... it's not that..."

"Both of you keep watching." Casey told them, turning back to the arena once more. Why did she believe in Arimi almost more than Jane? X-L was somewhat confused, as was Jane herself.

"My... turn..." Arimi placed her hand on her deck. Please, please! Give me something! Something good! she prayed. Arimi swiftly drew the card that could determine her fate at the Academy.

"Uh oh. I think that was what I think it was." Drake said nervously. His Obelisk posse shifted uneasily.

"Yay!" Arimi cheered suddenly, kissing her card.

"Yay?" Larry, Drake, Jane, and X-L asked in unison, curiosity written on their faces.

"Okay! First, I discard two monsters whose Levels equal Level 8!" Arimi declared excitedly as she placed two monsters in the Graveyard slot of her Duel Disk.

"Now I can Special Summon Machina Fortress!" she cried as a blue tank-like monster appeared with two large mechanical hands and a blaster looking weapon upon its back. [2500/1600 Level 7]

"Now I'll discard some other Machine-Type monsters whose levels are higher than level eight to Special Summon the first one I discarded!" A second Machina Fortress appeared.

"...And?" Drake probed questioningly. "Not like they both could-"

"Now I activate Limiter Removal!" Arimi declared, cutting the stunned Obelisk short.

"Limi- what?!" Larry asked, a shocked expression on his face. His expression was mirrored on almost everyone in the arena. Casey just smiled.

"Limiter Removal doubles the power of all the Machines I control, giving them both a power of 5000!" Arimi cheered, jumping up and down.

"This. Is. A. Dream." Drake spoke slowly, in obvious denial. A member of his Obelisk crew reached up to pinch him, and Drake slapped his hand away, shouting, "I'm not really dreaming, you idiot!" Larry began stepping back in awe.

"Uh... buddy...?" Larry called his monster, but he knew that he couldn't help it out with any cards. He had lost.

"Go!" Arimi yelled as the first Machina Fortress shot a yellow beam from a remote turret, destroying the Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem with ease. (Larry: 1600 LP)

"Now! Direct attack! Flying Thunder!" The other Machina Fortress blasted a screaming Larry. He put up his arms to block the impact, but it still ended the Duel. (Larry: 0 LP)

Drake was nearly about to choke. As were X-L and Jane. "S-she... w-won..." Jane spoke, fazed by her sister's victory. Casey simply winked down at her blue-haired friend.

"...Did I win?" Arimi asked, returning to her idiotic personality. Everybody groaned.

"Yes! You won!" All the students and teachers cheered for Arimi and started to stream out onto the Duel Arena floor.

"Yaaaay!" Arimi cheered as she jumped with joy, waving at everybody.

"..Guys. I think I'm having a heart attack..." Drake told the students around him as he nearly fell over. Panicking, his posse caught him and rushed him out of the Arena. Meanwhile, X-L, Jane, and Casey ran down the stairs to join in on the commotion. X-L ran over to Larry and the girls sprinted towards Arimi, a wide smile on Casey's face, and a half-smile on Jane's,

"What happened Larry?" X-L asked, patting his colleague on the back.

"I don't... know." Larry replied, sounding winded. "She was better..."

"I won!" Arimi told Casey and Jane excitedly, bouncing on her heels.

"We know." Casey grinned as Jane rolled her eyes.

"It's about time you got here! I was waiting for my little sister to enroll!" Jane exclaimed as she hugged Arimi tightly. Suddenly, Larry and some other teachers walked up to the merry group. They stopped rejoiced and Arimi put on her best serious face.

"So... what dorm...?" she inquired, drawing a glare from Larry.

"Slifer." Larry answered shortly.

"...What?" Arimi asked, cupping her hand around her ear. "Could you repeat that?"

"Slifer," Larry replied testily.

"Again?" Arimi couldn't believe what she was hearing.

"Slifer!" Larry's anger was building.

"What are you-" tried Arimi one last time.

"Slifer damn it! You're in Slifer!" Larry yelled at her, making the little girl almost fall over.

"What?! Why?! I did so good!" Arimi cried, tears starting to flow.

"Good? You kept getting cornered and just happened to be able to pull a couple of random cards out of your ass! Not only that, but your Cyber Dragon Deck is lacking in what key cards it should have!" Larry spat at her, making Arimi shrink back against the wall.

"Well, excuuuuuse me for not being the best duelist on the planet!" she tried defending herself.

"That's not the damn point! You're not Ra material and you're damn well not Obelisk material!"

Those last words stung, and Arimi was about ready to burst into tears, since she already started rubbing her eyes.

"That's a bit... harsh Larry." Casey spoke, looking worriedly down at Arimi.

"Shaddup. I'm only being an honest teacher. You didn't see me make her duel unfairly like my brother did to a certain student, did you?" Larry asked hotly, referring to his brother Vellian.

"...Good point." Casey replied, giving up the argument.

"Good point?! She kicked your ass and your throwing her in Sli-" Jane began, visibly furious.

"Jane," Larry stopped Jane when she was about to yell. Before she could respond, Larry launched into his next sentence.

"You know that most Cyber Duelists would've won much faster than that. Not only that, but they would've also used better cards." Larry explained.

"So my sister is going to Slifer because...?" Jane inquired, confused now.

"... Because she has no knowledge of actual dueling, unsurprisingly," was Larry's answer.

"...Sis?" Arimi turned to her blue-haired sister pleadingly, with tears still in her eyes.

"...You're in the school. That's good enough for me," Jane said firmly, dropping the argument. Arimi sighed.

"C'mon! You can rise up and become an Obelisk! Don't let what I said get to you! Just fix up your deck and you'll be kicking major ass in no time!" Larry encouraged Arimi as he gave her a thumbs-up. Arimi's pale face suddenly brightened at Larry's encouraging words.

"Y-yeah! I'll be better than everybody else!" she shouted shakily.

"I didn't say that." Larry immediately regretted saying those words when he saw Arimi about to burst into tears again. "Okay! I did say that!" he exclaimed hurriedly.

"Yay!" Arimi suddenly ran up to the director's tall frame and hugged Larry.

"Get offa me!" Larry shouted. The others laughed as the sun set on Duel Academy.
--- Chapter 4 - Welcome To Duel Academy ---

"Whoa!" Arimi shouted in awe, glancing at the main building of the Duel Academy. Jane and Casey were close behind, trying in vain to keep up with their hyperactive sister.

"This place is huge!" Arimi commented, still gazing at the colossal main complex. Jane couldn't help but put her head in her hands. Casey just giggled a bit as Arimi started running in.

"It's even bigger on the inside!" Arimi shouted, bursting through the glass doors.

"Like it?" Casey asked, a coy smile on her lips.

"Of course! I looove big places!" Arimi replied excitedly as she started running through the halls.

"It's only a matter of time before she runs into some-" Casey paused as the sisters both heard a reverberating metallic clang.

"Oww..." Arimi moaned weakly. She had, obviously, ran into a hallway support pole. Stars swam in front of her eyes.

"Are you alright?" Jane asked, running up to Arimi and hoisting her roughly to her feet.

"No! It hurts!" Arimi responded while holding her forehead, a tear leaking from her eye.

"Should've seen this coming. Wait, I did," Casey murmured as she walked up to them. "Want me to get some ice?"

"No... I'm okay. I think," Arimi sniffled, wiping her eyes.

"That head of yours is pretty hard. So you should be fine," Jane grumbled softly.

"What's that suppose to mean, sis?!" Arimi shot back, surprised at her sister's crudeness.

"Exactly what you think it means."

"But, what do I think it means?"

Jane simply slapped a hand to her forehead. Again.

-Meanwhile...-

"I lost. To an absolute rookie, too..." Larry was still lamenting to his friend in the spacious teacher's lounge.

"Aw, don't worry about it man." Reaching across his armchair, X-L slapped Larry on the back.

"How can I not worry about it?! I lost to an idiot who barely knew what she was doing!" Larry yelled, making his comrade jump.

"An idiot?" a low male voice said slowly. Larry and X-L looked over to the mysterious teacher that had been lounging on the couch. He was a blue shirt with pants to match, and was lazily laying on the couch with his arms behind his head and his feet up on the other plush arm.

"Yes. An idiot, J. Where were you?" Larry answered, surprised at the man's appearance.

"Sleeping." J replied, yawning widely like a reclining lion. Larry rolled his eyes and muttered, "Like always..."

"Hey! You try filling out a bunch of paper work and not getting any sleep!" J dropped his suave demeanor and swiftly rose from the couch to face the Chancellor.

"I do that already! Better than you I might add!" Larry retorted, not fazed by J's annoyance.

"Fellas, fellas! Let's not shout!" X-L bustled between the two, raising his hands and breaking up the verbal skirmish .

"Who was the idiot?" J curiously asked, laying down on the sofa again.

"Someone named... Arimi." Larry replied, scratching his head.

"Never heard of her."

"You will soon." X-L remarked. "I'm just glad she's in! We're going to have fuuuun!" A silence fell over the room.

"Dude. She's still a student and you're a teacher." Larry spoke up awkwardly.

"Not that kind of fun!" X-L hollered, his face flushing. J and Larry exchanged hearty chuckles.

"Anyway, I was looking over my paperwork, and we have another late entry. Only he's... special." J began.

"Special?" Larry asked, confusion and a frown painted on his face.

"Hell, I dunno. If by special, you mean 'loser who needs some damn friends', then yes. Special." J answered, yawning again.

"Hey, he doesn't sound like a loser." X-L exclaimed defensively.

"No one asked you." J said to him, and X-L leaned back in his chair, his ears smoldering red.

-...Day is getting worse and worse by the minute. Let's just go to a classroom.-

"Oh my god! It's even better than I dreamed of!" Arimi chirped in awe, looking around at the wide-open classroom in which she was standing.

"Are you going to be surprised at how big and wonderful everything is all day?" Casey asked, a happy sigh escaping her mouth.

"...Maybe." Arimi replied. She zipped out into the hall and then attempted to run down the stairs, but tripped, like an idiot. She fell straight into the seat left of her. Jane just sighed.

"...? How'd you all get in?" A boy with white and black hair walked into the classroom, looking down at the commotion. He didn't wear the School Uniform either. Instead, he donned a gray coat and a black shirt, with matching black pants.

"Whoa. He looks scary." Arimi commented, struggling to her feet.

"Well, the door was unlocked." Casey replied to the boy, peering at him.

"I thought I locked it..." The boy started digging in his pockets nervously.

"Oh, Arimi, this is Tom Ryujin," said Casey, hurriedly introducing the two of them. Arimi ran up to him and shook his hand happily. "Hi!"

"Err... hi." Tom quickly looked over at Casey. "...Is she always this active?" he whispered.

"You could say that." Casey answered coyly.

"...Ugh. Well, you can't exactly be in here right now." Tom informed. Arimi let go of his hand and put her hands on her hips.

"What? Why not?! I like it in here! It's so big, and clean, and big, and colorful, ...and big!"

"You said big three times," Tom muttered softly, rolling his eyes.

"Because it's so big!" Arimi started to run in circles.

Jane banged her head into the wall in embarrassment as Casey and Tom just looked back at her.

"Don't mind me. I just love throwing my head into the wall for no reason," Jane muttered, glancing darkly at Arimi.

"Of course you do. After all, you and your sister do take after each other." Casey joked.

"Wha- no we don't!" Jane stammered, her face paling.

"Wait, so we're not like each other...?" Arimi looked up at her big sister curiously.

"Of course not! Everyone is different!" Jane hissed at her. "You're not like me in the slightest!"

"But I wanna be like you, sis!" Arimi ran up to Jane, looking into her cold, blue eyes.

"You can try to be, but you will never be like me if you keeping... acting stupidly!" Jane turned away from Arimi, her earring glinting in the artificial light.

"B-but..."

Jane whirled on her sister. "No 'buts', damn it!" she shouted, the color draining from her face.

Arimi curled up into a ball on the floor and started sobbing.

Jane's face filled with compunction and she quickly knelt down and tried to stop Arimi from crying. Tom just facepalmed and Casey laughed lightly at Jane's expense.

"Hey. Kids." J called from the doorway, his lanky frame casting a shadow over the floor.

"Hey, J, how's your day?" Casey asked, rhyming intentionally. J rolled his eyes.

"Oho. Nice one. My day's going swell. Just need some more sleep before this stupid, delayed entry exam." J replied, and he leaned on the wall, chewing casually on some gum. Wintergreen, of course.

"Another one? Aren't they over?" Tom asked, a look of surprise on his face.

"Yes. But this rookie was ridiculously late. I still let it slide."

"What? I could've been late then!" Arimi shouted. J raised an eyebrow.

"If you had been any later, you would've dueled me."

"...On second thought, I should've gotten here early." Arimi stammered, backpedaling.

"That doesn't matter. X-L should let you guys know when it's time to come watch. Just make sure he doesn't roll over you when you're going." J jeered, his eyes gleaming.

"Aw, that's not nice. A big body has room for a big heart you know." Casey replied defensively.

"You won't be saying that when you get flattened by that big man," J crowed slowly as he got up from the wall. He turned to Arimi.

"Look, new girl. Go around the school and meet some people. Other than half of the asses here, and the terrible duelists who should be getting kicked out tomorrow, there's some good people here to meet." J told Arimi. She just stared at him, a look of panic beginning to creep over her face.

"Wait, terrible duelists who should be getting kicked out tomorrow? Uh oh." Arimi shifted nervously.

"Yes. That possibly means you," J said coldly.

"Noooooo!" Arimi curled back up into a ball and started crying. Jane looked as if she wanted to slap her.

"Haha! I'm just screwin' with ya!" J reassured her, doubled up with laughter. Arimi stopped crying.

"Really...?" she sniffed.

"No." Arimi started crying again, and all of the people in the room covered their ears. "Okay! Yes! Yessh!" Without looking back, J walked out of the classroom.

"...Interesting sister." Tom said to Jane, who smirked.

"Interesting, indeed." Jane replied. She quickly picked up Arimi by the hand and they all walked out of the classroom.

"Hmm...?" A voice rang through the empty classroom. Arimi looked to the left.

"Huh?" Arimi started, surprised..

"What?" Casey walked over to her, a concerned look upon her face. Jane followed.

"I thought I heard someone... umm... Tom? Is the school haunted?" Arimi asked, shivering a bit.

"...Why do you even have to ask?" Tom responded incredulously.

"Because! I don't like ghosts! They freak me out!" Arimi replied, a nervous glint in her eyes.

"Urgh. Then no. There's no ghosts." Tom answered, rolling his eyes at Jane.

"...Casey..." The voice returned. The group all looked back.

"I could be wrong..." Tom retracted his statement and now stood rooted to his spot on the floor, nervous.

"What?! No! I'm too young to be scared to death!" Arimi shouted as she immediately clung onto Jane.

"There's no such thing as ghosts. And even if there was, it sounds like it wants Casey." Jane said, rubbing Arimi's hair reassuringly. Casey looked at her.

"That's not a ghost." Casey bluntly informed them all.

"What?" Arimi asked, confused.

"Casey!" To their shock, a red haired girl jumped out of the hallway next to them and tackled Casey to the ground, letting out a shout of glee.

"Ow! Hey, Scarlet, I told you not to do that!" Casey seethed, rubbing her head.

"I can't help it!" Scarlet chuckled as she brushed herself off.

"...Scarlet. Should've known." Tom said as he simply started walking the other way. No one seemed to notice his departure.

"Where were you?! I had to smack Drake once or twice and I was waiting for you to come see!" Scarlet said cheerfully to Casey, who grinned.

"You... smacked Drake?" Jane asked, almost sounding jealous. I wanted to do that!

"Yes! He was talking bad about some 'nub' and I couldn't take it!" Scarlet crossed her arms, an angry look distorting her pretty face.

"...Oh." Jane and Casey responded, not surprised at all.

"Who is this 'nub' anyway?" Scarlet curiously asked, still hugging Casey.

"Her." Tom had arrived back on the scene. He simply pointed to Arimi.

"Nuh uh! I'm not a nub!" Arimi cried, hugging Jane again.

"...Who is that?" Scarlet asked Casey, amused.

"A good friend of mine and Jane's little sister, Arimi." Casey introduced.

"Hi..." Arimi greeted with a depressed tone, still let down by the announcement of her 'nub' status.

"Aw, don't worry about it. You're not a nub! You and I could be the best duelists ever someday! Even tomorrow!" Scarlet cheered, hugging Arimi.

"Really?! Awesome!" Arimi yelled as they both ran up and started jumping cheerfully with each other.

"...Urgh." Tom complained as he walked away. Again.

"Bye bye you two." Casey said casually as her and Jane started walking off.

"Hey! Wait sis!" Arimi yelled, running after her blue-haired idol.

"Nooo! Casey! We can't be seperated again!" Scarlet yelled. She and Arimi ran side by side, attempting to reconnect with their older friends.

-Day is still not getting better. Let's go back to the Teachers.-

"Why do I have to do this?" J asked, back in the Teacher's Lounge. His feet were on the arm of the sofa again.

"Because Larry did one already and I'm busy." X-L answered, poring over some papers on his desk.

"Doing?" Larry asked, glancing over X-L's shoulder.

"Researching!" X-L replied, staring intensely at a student file.

"Researching what? Young girls?" J asked him innocently, causing Larry to crack up.

"No! I'm not like that!" X-L quickly denied the question, focusing on his work.

"Huh? Why so worked up?" J inquired, curious now.

Larry suddenly exchanged a worried glance with his portly friend.

"What?" J asked, sitting up, peering suspiciously at them both.

"Nothing." Larry stood up. "Alrighty. Let's go."

"Go where?" J stood up with him.

"The rookie is almost here." Larry replied, an excited glow in his eyes.

"Aw, damn." J complained as they all walked out of comforts off the Lounge.

-Meanwhile... in the hallways-

"Sup nub?" Drake greeted little Arimi as him and a group of Obelisks walked by her group.

"Hey! Do you need another smacking!" Scarlet threatened, taking a step toward him. So did Jane, fire burning in her eyes.

"Gak! No!" Drake backed up a bit, frightened of the duo.

"Geez. I just wanted to let you guys know that you should get to the Duel Arena now."

"Oh? Why did you have to come tell us? Or did you miss our little Arimi?" Casey teased.

"Like hell. If I missed the nub, I would've soon rather killed myself." Drake replied, starting to walk away, flanked by his posse. Jane glared after the retreating group.

"Oooh, that's mean." Casey responded softly, without a comeback.

"What? You're not going to hit him?" Scarlet asked Casey, disappointed.

"Why would I? There's no point." Casey told her. Scarlet shrugged.

"...Pffft. Hey nub, you should watch this duel. You could learn something." Drake turned back towards to Arimi as him and the students left.

"Lovely. Drake hates you." Tom said to Arimi.

"I know..." Arimi murmured sadly.

"Ignore him. He hates weak duelists." Tom informed. That's as reassuring as he could get.

"Why?" Scarlet asked, looking at the boy with interests.

"...I promised not to tell a soul." Tom replied mysteriously. Heheaded towards the arena alone.

"Do you know, sis?" Arimi asked Jane, who looked down at her.

"No..." Jane said dismissively. She started to walk and turned back to the group. "C'mon. Let's go." Shocked into action, they all left for the arena.

-Finally! Something interesting!-

Later, everyone was sitting in the arena. Most of the seats had been filled and everyone trying to talk over each other. Arimi and company sat near some of the front rows for a clear glimpse at the Duel.

"Move it! I'm sitting next to Casey!" Scarlet declared as she pushed Arimi into another seat next to Jane and Tom. Scarlet plopped down next to Casey, who was sitting in the end seat.

"Everyone comfortable?" Casey asked them all, looking up.

"In these chairs? Of course not." Tom answered coldly. Larry, who was sitting a few rows behind the group, glared.

"Well excuuuuuse us for not having enough money to replace two hundred or more chairs!" Larry yelled as the Duelist all turned backwards in their seats to look at him.

"Larry!" Arimi called gleefully, rising from her seat.

"No! Stay there! Don't hug me!" Larry ordered, panicked. Arimi sat back down reluctantly.

"Don't be like that. She only likes you." Casey teased. Larry blushed at the redhead.

"I don't like her, she's freaky, and crazy, and umm... kinda... y'know." Larry obviously meant stupid, but he wasn't ready for Jane to maul him yet.

"You can hug me!" X-L told Arimi as he entered the arena, panting.

"Yay!" Arimi jumped out of her seat and hugged X-L, who patted her on the back.

"You're already my favorite teacher!" Arimi complimented, grinning at the stocky man.

"Well, I have been known to be of the 'fun' type. Unlike my man here." X-L bragged, pointing to Larry and rolling his eyes.

"Hey! I'm fun!" Larry yelled angrily. X-L just smiled.

"Hmm...? If you two are here, who's dueling?" Casey asked, changing the subject.

"J." Larry answered shortly.

"Jay-Blue?" Arimi asked, confusion upon her face.

"No, just J." Larry replied.

"Jay-Z!" Arimi scratched her head.

"No. Just J." Larry barked, getting irked.

"Jay-"

"Just J damn it!" Larry yelled at her, his face red. "Now sit down!" Arimi took her seat, blushing.

"Bad mood?" Tom asked Larry, gazing into his eyes.

"No, she just, I just, aaaah..." Larry conceded defeat and sat down again in the row behind the Duelists. X-L sat next to him.

"Hey, who's that?" Scarlet asked as she pointed to a man walking out of the left doors. The man was six feet tall with pretty much all black clothes on. They matched perfectly with his black hair.

"Whoa. He looks like serious business!" Arimi commented innocently as everyone around her facepalmed.

"Shut. Up." Larry ordered, and she sunk into her seat.

J walked into the arena from the right doors as the Duelists both walked up to the platform.

"Alrighty. Lance Drakar, are you prepared?" J asked as a black machine-themed Duel Disk unfolded on his right arm.

"Yes." Lance replied as a blue, somewhat Ice-Themed Duel Disk carcked open on his right arm. He lifted it up and it activated itself, causing the Red Sphere to start glowing. The same thing occurred with J's Duel Disk.

"Duel!"
--- Chapter 5: Disaster Control ---

Lance: 4000 LP

J: 4000 LP

"I'll go first, if you don't mind!" J declared as both players drew five cards and J drew his sixth one, smiling. The Duelists in the stands seemed surprised at J's changed personality. They could almost feel his intensity from the bleachers. He was officially on duty and doing a job.

"I'll just Summon one of my buddies named, Genex Neutron!" A blue hole appeared in the middle of the arena, and people gasped as an orange and silver machine jumped out of the abyss. The hole disappeared as the machine floated down slowly to the floor, levitating in the air. [1800/1200 Level 4]

"Whoa. That thing looks kinda cool," Arimi complimented. Larry just looked at her, dumbfounded.

"The duel just started and she's already amazed by a Level 4 monster..." Larry facepalmed, shaking his head.

"I'll Set a card and head into my End Phase." J set a card in his Spell/Trap Zone face-down. "During the End Phase Neutron is Summoned, I can add a Machine-Type Tuner from my Deck to my hand." A card materialized in Neutron's metallic hand, and the machine slowly revolved and handed the card to his master. J looked at the find and smiled.

"I'm done."

"I activate Brain Control," Lance spoke as two hands appeared from the wall, swaying in a hypnotic fashion. J's Genex wobbled unsteadily on its feet and shakily joined Lance's side of the field, facing his former keeper. (Lance: 3200 LP)

"There goes my totally awesome combo." J complained, shaking his head.

"Now I summon Magna Drago." A fiery-red hole appeared in the floor this time as a small, scarlet dragon flew into position, next to the brainwashed Neutron. [1400/600 Level 2 Tuner] Magna Drago then transformed into two small white orbs.

"Wait a sec, OH FU-" J rarely lost his composure. He did so now.

"Now, I use Magna Drago and your Neutron for a Synchro Summoning." Lance declared as the white orbs flew up and burst open to form two radiant rings in the air. Genex Neutron then flew through the light hoops and transformed into four small white orbs. The two green rings reappeared. As the white orbs all lined up on top of one another, they formed a beam of light within the circles. Arimi could not help but gasp at the light show.

"Oh noooo!" J yelled, his eyes wide open for once

"A Synchro Summon? So soon?!" Larry shouted in surprise, causing several students to glance at him worriedly. X-L laid a hand on his shoulder.

"Appear! Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier!" Ice covered Lance's side of the field as a frozen pillar shot up out of the rink. It then broke into several pieces, revealing a dragon made of ice. Brionac's wings unfurled with a cracking noise as it shattered the ice surrounding it. The icy dragon growled as its chilly glare pierced J. [2300/1400 Level 6]

"Awesome!!" Arimi and Scarlet yelled simultaneously, jumping up from their seats excitedly.

"Am I seeing two idiots here?" Larry asked X-L, rolling his eyes.

"Not sure about Scarlet, but this could be Arimi's first time seeing a Synchro Monster." X-L replied indifferently. Larry leaned back in his seat and grumbled.

"Interesting..." Jane commented on Lance's strategy, closely analyzing the duel.

"Now, I'll activate his effect, by discarding a card, I can return a card to your hand." Lance explained as he discarded a monster. Brionac opened its maw and blew J's card back to his hand. Chilled by the icy wind, J couldn't help but shiver a bit.

"Uh oh." he said, staring up at the white monstrosity.

"Direct attack!" Lance ordered. Brionac immediately fired a beam of ice out of its mouth, the cold power rocketing towards its helpless target. Thankfully, J had braced himself for the attack and stood his ground as the ice broke on his arms. (J: 1700 LP)

"Done," Lance said simply.

"Good damn, son. You tryin' to kill me?" J asked, actually impressed, forgetting his etiquette as well as he drew a card from his frost-covered Duel Disk. He smirked at the new card.

"Okay, no more Mr. Nice Guy!" J yelled, raising his voice. Larry buried his head in his hands in embarrassment.

"Gimme Brionac! You used my buddy to get him anyway!" J activated his own Brain Control, and a brainwashed Brionac flew over to his side of the field. J winced. His Life Points were dropping too fast for comfort. (J: 1100 LP)

"Now I activate Foolish Burial, to dump Level Eater into the Graveyard." A tombstone appeared next to J as a bug with a star on its back helplessly fell into a pre-dug hole in front of the stone.

"Hey, it isn't disappearing... Isn't it going to the Graveyard?" Arimi asked, confused.

"Oh, it's in the Graveyard. But it isn't staying there..." Casey said mysteriously as Arimi turned her attention back to the duel.

"Now, I'll drop Brio's Level by one, and Special Summon Level Eater from the Graveyard!" The gravestone disappeared as Level Eater crawled out next to Brionac. [600/0 Level 1]

"Revenge be awesome my friend. Thanks to Neutron earlier, I got this!" J placed a monster on his Duel Disk as a small, brown machine floated out of a blue hole in the ground, taking a place next to the little star-studded bug.

"Genex Controller. Dammit." Lance cursed. [1400/1200 Level 3 Tuner]

"Okay!" J declared, looking at his duel disk. I'm sorry buddy. I wish Brionac was a DARK monster...

"Tuning!"

Brionac flew into the air and Level Eater jumped as high as it could, following Brionac. Genex Controller transformed into three white orbs, which, again, created two green circles. Brionac flew through the first ring, flanked by Level Eater. Both became transparent, and Arimi gasped in wonder. Again.

"Synchro Summon baby! Trishula, Dragon Of The Ice Barrier!" In a similar way to Brionac's appearance, Trishula flew out of the ice and landed on the ground with a crash. Out of its sides, two heads that looked identical to the first's appeared. [2700/2000 Level 9]

"Whoa..." Arimi spoke, in awe. Jane cast a rare smile in her sister's direction.

"Let loose baby! Triple Freeze!" Trishula let out a blast of ice from its mouth and the other two heads followed up with their own cannon-like shots of frozen pain. The three beams streaked towards Lance.

"Tch!" Lance braced himself, but was still blown back from the triple encounter. Only with much calmness and nimbleness, was he able to stay on his feet. (Lance: 500 LP)

"That's what ya get for takin' one of my buddies and using him for Synchro Materials!" J yelled, his cool act completely gone. He set two cards in his Spell/Trap Zone, and ordered Lance to commence his turn.

"Heh. Guess the teachers at this academy aren't that bad." Lance complimented softly, looking down at his Duel Disk.

"We're pro." J replied confidently.

"We are?!" Arimi asked everyone around her excitedly. In response, everyone rolled their eyes.

"We are, you aren't." Larry answered rudely. Arimi cast a worried glance at her older sister.

"I'm not...?" Arimi looked like she was about to cry, again.

"Shut up Larry. Yes, you are." Jane replied, shooting Larry an icy glare. Arimi immediately stopped, Jane's assuring words relaxed her.

"If she's gonna cry at every damn thing I say, she needs to grow up!" Larry yelled, starting to rise from his chair.

"Now, now, Larry." X-L pushed him firmly back down into the seat. Larry cast a dark look at his friend, but conceded defeat.

"My turn." Lance said, drawing his card.

"I'll set two card face down and stop there." Lance declared humbly as he placed two cards down in his Spell/Trap Card Zone.

"...Nothin'?" J asked as he drew, eagerly peering at his next card.

"No. I got something. I was just waiting for your turn. I activate Call Of The Haunted." Lance announced as one of his Trap Cards was flipped up to reveal a gravestone, with purple smoke rising from its depths.

"...Wait a minute..." Tom noticed something, and sat up a bit straighter.

"What? What?" Scarlet asked, pulling at his shirt excitedly.

"He plays Disaster!" Tom declared suddenly. People turned in surprise at his somewhat loud declaration.

"Disaster?" Arimi was, unsurprisingly, confused.

"It's a Dragon-Type deck." Larry told her simply.

"Let me show you my friend," Lance pointed forward into the air. "White Night Dragon!" A dragon of pure ice flew out of the smoke. It alighted in Lance's center Monster Zone, landing almost silently.

"So what? You just summoned a 3000 ATK beatstick. It'll be gone in a sec." J responded jovially. "I activate Allure of Darkness." A portal of darkness appeared in front of J. He drew two cards and placed a DARK monster in the portal as it disappeared from the current Duel.

"Haha. I don't care what kind of "Disaster" you're playing, but it ain't beatin' me." J confidently announced, accidentally dropping his professional vernacular. "Now I activate Heavy Storm!" Lance grinned.

"Terrible move. Go! White Night Dragon, White Disaster Frost!" Lance's second trap card flipped up.

"White- what?" J asked, starting to panic.

"With that, I can negate the activation of Heavy Storm and destroy all of the Spell and Trap cards on the field," Lance explained, narrowing his eyes at J.

"Why'd he do that? He pretty much just activated the EXACT same thing." Larry said, confused.

"No. He didn't." Casey, Tom, and X-L all replied. Larry sat back again, his face turning the color of ripe cherries.

"Now!" Lance pointed at White Night Dragon as all the Spell and Trap cards on the field were destroyed, White Night Dragon remained on the field, charging up a frozen blast in his mouth.

"What the hell?" J asked, surprised at the Dragon's apparent attack.

"White Disaster Frost destroys all Spell and Trap cards, like I said. But it also inflicts 300 damage for each one destroyed." Lance said.

"But... that... was... four..." J started stepping back. He seemed unable to speak, unable to comprehend what was happening...

"Four times three hundred is... uhh... carry the one over to the-" Arimi was trying to figure out the damage calculation.

"Twelve. Hundred." Larry answered for Lance as the White Night Dragon fired a sparkling blast, engulfing J and Trishula.

"Daaaaamn it!" J yelled. He fell to one knee as the Duel holograms began to fade away. (J: 0 LP)

"What?!" Drake asked on the other side of the arena. He'd been quiet the entire time, but now he looked shellshocked.

"I win." Lance announced simply, and the audience rose up in hesitant cheers.

"Sorry buddy... didn't get to use ya..." J apologized to his deck as he got up.

"Obelisk-" he began to announce.

"No," said Lance abruptly. J stopped his declaration suddenly and glanced at Lance. What the hell?

"Huh?" he asked, stupidly.

"I'd rather not be an Obelisk. Could I go to... Slifer?" Lance asked him innocently. Drake, X-L, Larry, Jane, and Scarlet were surprised. No one had ever turned down an invite to the Blue Dorms.

"What for?!" J asked. flustered. "The Slifer dorm is crappy! Obelisk Blue dorms has some of the most luxurious stuff! Most people dream of having a place in that Dorm!"

"Really?" Arimi asked, turning to her sister.

"Really," Jane answered, still surprised at Lance Drakar's request.

"I just... want to be in Slifer." Lance replied coolly, raising an eyebrow.

"Fine. Slifer." J simply facepalmed and strode out of the arena, taking deep breaths.

Who was this man? Why did he not choose Obelisk?

...Let's figure out next chapter and not waste any suspense here.

I'm better at dialogue than descriptions and whatnot. That's why there's alot of it.

Did you two like it though?
... Somewhere, in a far away galaxy...

With mere cards."

Just that one improvment for prolougue.

Yeah' date=' writing a Yugimanz fanfic. I've been wanting to do this for awhile. First off, I'm not incredibly awesome at writing, so if it sucks, SORRY. ;~; Second, credit to Clair for being the Editor and whatnot. Finally, anyone can join. I welcome more Characters. Just PM me to join. <3

Now shut up and read. Thank you~

Well, I guess that means I need to take a look at this myself, seeing all the pretty short comments and fact that I enjoy both Yugi and Manz. But not being great at writing... we'll see, but that's no excuse.

Also, ignore the Prologue. I'm terrible at them, but I feel like they're needed in my fics.

Well, then try again until you get it right! Gosh...
... Somewhere, in a far away galaxy...

Uh-oh... STAR WARS?!

"Mommy? Can you tell me the story again?" a young boy asked his mother, sitting comfortably in her lap. The room they were sitting in was dark, lit by a candle, which was giving off a small amount of light. The boy's mother was sitting on a small bed, fitting for a eight-year-old.

Well you said it was dark, so why did you have to say it gave off little light a second time? I don't get.

"All right, all right..." the boy's mother agreed, casting a weary grin at her son. She picked up a book with a Black background and small lights all over the cover, similar to Outer-Space. In white text in the middle of the cover, the book was titled "The Galaxy".

Woah! That kid's readin' stuff for ASTRONOMY STUDENTS IN COLLEGE?! Woah.

"Thousands and thousands of years ago, there were entities known as the "Galaxy Races". Powerful beings that resided in all locations of the universe," the mother began.

Hmm... weird name. Considering that they are apparently one race. In fact, WERE they multiple races of dudes? Please explain!!

Then, a male voice took control of the story as the narrator.

We didn't need that.

That sounds pretty non-descript. What kind of kid would read THAT book repeatedly?! It SUCKS!! Rabble rabble rabble...

... Rather, she saved everything. With mere cards."

OOOH, I GET IT!! HAHAHA... huh?!

--- Yu-Gi-Oh! Galactic Tales ---

Before anyone asks, yes. The Galaxy Races were inspired by Gurren Lagann's Spiral Races.

Um, okay then.
--- Chapter 1: The Clusmy Beginning ---

Heh, even the TITLE is CLUMSY!! Messin' itself up and whatnot, ha ha... *slaps knee*

Our tale begins in the bustling city of New Domino. Everything is peaceful in this frenetic metropolis, though one could see it as being incredibly busy.

So it was busy but peaceful but busy but people could ACTUALLY tell that it was busy? I be confused.

...Who that heck is that?

I dunno.

OHSHITIT'SJADEN!!

"I'm gonna be so laaaaate!" the girl whined, as her bag thudded to the ground. She ran like the wind through the streets, bumping into stands and store windows as she passed. Obviously, she was late for something.

I remember when I wrote THIS episode of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX! The Fan Fic! Except it was a boy, and I intended to try to utterly humiliate GX due to its pure stupidity.

"Hey! Watch out!" an iold man yelled out to the girl, but it was too late. He braced himself.

OH NO!! CHECK YER SPELLINZ!!

The girl turned her head back in surprise and blindly ran straight into a pole.

DANG! I shoulda put that in MY story! Grumble...

"Owww!" she cried while holding her head. "Ow. Ow. Owww!" She fell to the ground, sobbing.

Boy, she's dummer'n Jaden! Or IS she...

"Are you... alright?" the man asked, concern showing on his wrinkled features.

I have a feeling that he's gonna give her a card that will be somewhat useful in the plot but soon ignored and replaced by talking animals and soon an evil hermaphrodite Eldrich Abomination.

"No! I just ran into a pole like an idiot! I'm not alright!" the girl replied, bursting into a flood of new tears.

Wait... is that... SYRUS?!

"...Where are you headed?" the old man asked, looking quizzically at the young person before him.

Nothing to say.

"Duel Academy. Why?"

Something to say! I wonder if she's gonna end up dueling Crowler, the irritating man-child who I believe they added into the series because they had something against cross-dressers!!

"Oh! There? I know a shortcut," the man said excitedly, a twinkle in his eye.

When an old guy has a twinkle in his eye... the girls should run.

"You do?! Oh could you tell me please?! I'm REALLY late and I-" The girl's hysteria-caused screaming rang through the streets and the man quickly put his hand over her mouth, his hearing aid buzzing.

Oh, that DARN Jaden-Syrus, or Jaysy for short! Always doin' somethin' wrong...

"First of all, calm down. Secondly, just go left and cut through the Neo Domino Hospital parking lot. ... I'd recommend stopping in that Hospital first," the man told her, chuckling. He directed her by pointing at the sidewalk to the right of the girl

What a sense of humour! Hee ha!

"Thank yoooou!" she called shrilly. She was already running off. The old man clapped a hand to his face, bemused.

Oh my gosh... SHE DIDN'T GET A CARD!! *dies of stupidity of self*

Who is this dufus? he thought to himself.

It's actually 'doofus'.

Purple... OBELISK PURPLE?! AHHHHHH!!

"Could we possibly get any more terrible duelists?" a girl spoke coldly. There were two girls leaning against the wall near the Entrance, watching the frantic Dueling taking place in the main arena.

Hmm... oh crap, GIRL-CHAZZ?! Crap, that's supposed to be in the next episode of my fic!! SPOILERS!! I hope yours is less disturbing.

What a lot of description! It's not a bad thing, but whenever anybody, especially me, goes into clothing description like this, it kinda detracts from storytelling. However, it's better than when in published books people say "he was named Timmy" and don't talk about such things. I'm torn.

"Oh, they're not that bad..." the red-haired girl mumbled, feeling sympathy for the rookies.

... Billy Hills, or Deep-Voiced Dobbson?

"...Are you kidding me? There's an idiot down there using Griggle as his main card," the blue-haired girl said, incredulously.

Oh yeah, I remember Griggle! Kudos for bringing up a forgotten card guy. He was so Griggly...

"Let me rephrase that. What I meant was, not ALL of them are that bad," the other corrected herself.

Chazzette's very persuasive.

"When is a decent duelist going to enroll? I need a good duel. Other than you, that is." The blue-haired girl looked down upon her companion.

Y'know, where IS Deep-Voice Dolly? We need his female version, stat.

"Aww, I didn't know I was that good,"

"You're not. I'm saying that to flatter you."

"Ouch..."

OOOOOH, BURNED!!! Rofl rotf goijr

I feel disgusted. Obelisk ORANGE?! WHICH IS IT?!?!

"Already? We only got like, what, seven students that passed? People need to stop thinking Neos Fusions are meta," Larry remarked, chuckling.

Oh crap! Jaden's not special in this universe?! WHERE COULD HE HAVE POSSIBLY GONE WRONG?! Kudos again for making fun of Jaden fanboys. Why do kids think Neos is so good?!

"Well, there is one student left. But she isn't here," another teacher piped up.

"...This is sounding familiar to a story my brother told me about," Larry put his chin on the back of his hand in a thinking position, thinking of his brother, Vellian.

OOOOH, CONTINUITY NOD!! We should have a cross-over!!

"So, are we done?" a tall student in a blue coat asked, eagerly. He looked like an average Obelisk Blue student although, he had hair similar to a certain "Princeton" character.

Wait... WHO IS THE CHAZZ EXPY HERE?! WAS THE OTHER GUY ZANE AND I JUST STUPID AND STUFF?!

Yeah, we don't NEED no mo' SLIFER SLACKERS!! Meanwhile I don't seem to understand how in that universe they have so many idiots who make it into that school system! When your school's best duelist uses Cloudians, you KNOW something's wrong.

Larry paused and looked at the boy. "...Proud of how great and awesome you are at dueling, aren't ya Drake?" he asked, a hint of testiness in his voice.

That Drake SURE gets on me nerves, I tells ya what!

"Nah, I'm just sick of horrible duelists," Drake said, leaning back in his seat.

Then what?

... An hour later...

Odd place to transition, but okay!

Everyone was packing up and leaving. Suddenly, one of the girls near the entrance heard footsteps.

"WAAAAAIT!" a shrill voice shouted. A girl ran so fast past the other entrant girls, she looked like a blur.

Hooray! She might just be the FOURTH girl to make it to the event! They really need more girls with names in that universe...

"I'm here! I might be a litttttle late, but I'm here!" the girl shouted obnoxiously as she was running down to the arena. Suddenly, she tripped on a stray leftover card and tumbled down the stairs until she slammed into the wall.

I'd suggest stretching out the 'l' instead, because 'I might be a lit-t-t-t-t-t-le late' sounds odd. BUT HOW IN THE MOTHER OF FUDGE DO YOU TRIP ON A CARD PLACED FLAT ON THE GROUND?! This butt-monkey (see TvTropes, it will ruin your vocabulary) is getting to be less funny and depressingly extreme. I feel bad for her! You shouldn't make people pity your hero for clumsiness to THIS degree! It's like torment!

"Ow!" she cried. the tears coming back.

"...Who is this idiot?" Drake asked, a shocked expression on his face.

"...Good question," Larry replied quizzically.

Actually, it WAS a good question. The CORRECT question was, "Why is this girl so painfully, depressingly cliched?"

I repeat... DEPRESSING...

"I can't remember!" she yelled, embarrassed.

"What?" Larry bluntly asked, shellshocked.

"Arimi?" the blue-haired girl near the entrance asked.

Oh dang what a random name.

"Sis! You're here! ...But, I'm pretty sure that isn't my name," Arimi replied, her head still buzzing from the impact.

If they're sisters, then WHY didn't they go together? I mean, it would've made things DAMN easier for poor... random name... over here!

"Well. Looks like our favorite person is here," the denim girl chuckled as they both began walking down the stairs.

Can I cut that jabroni up? In more serious terms, I just want to tell you that in order to make a good character, you should outline what makes them bad AND what makes them good, too. We don't like absolute monsters unless they're badass villains, and I hope that his gal gets some development...

"Jane... my head huuuurts..." Arimi whined as they both walked up to her.

"It's almost like she hasn't changed." Red Hair whispered to Jane, who rolled her eyes.

...Red-Haired Reina? Nah, sounds too cool for her...

"...You two know her?" Larry asked, confused.

"Yes. She's my little sister," Jane replied.

"Poor Jane, must be hard having an idiot for a sister."

Seriously, somebody should (and by somebody I mean Jane) tell her to shut up and then punch them into a state of fear over her. Real cool sisters do that! Except... maybe minus the punch. But they can obviously hear her! DO sumthin'!

Drake looked around, imitating Arimi's fall, as the other Obelisk students began laughing.

That's not funny, that's painful! Drake just fell on his forehead! Shouldn't he be grippin' his head in pain? Or is he a sadist who laughs at others' pain? Tune in next time to find out...

"You want me to come up there?" Jane threatened. The Obelisks all stopped, and Drake groaned.

THERE we go! What TOOK so friggin' long? That makes me mad! When nobody stands up for the wimp who can't do anything about themselves! Grumble grumble grump...

Aww, MAN!!

She proceeded to give him an uppercut into the air, leap up, and use both of her hands to smash his face into the floors, fracturing them. But really, give this girl some character development soon, as immature people like that make for unpopular guys.

AHH!! GET HER OFF!!

"...Get offa me," Larry grunted as Arimi let go.

Whew, that was close...

When did they walk into the arena anyhow? Teleportation? Cool.

"Duel!"

Hope you all liked it. Also, don't be harsh please. ._.

Well, I think that you did an OKAY job on this. The character-based characters were annoying, especially Jaysy, who had a really random name. I mean, who names one kid "Jane" and the other "Arimi"?! It's like "Jimmy" and "Awesome Hunter McJebbidiah the Third"! Plus you need to give some developing, fast, or else I'm going to die... or irritation. MAKE THEM COOLER!! AHHHH!!

In addition, the 'butt-monkey clutz' Arimi, as I've said, is depressing! Does the UNIVERSE hate her? The pole was okay enough, but the card?! YOU try tripping on a card! Not slipping on a card, not falling ONTO a card, but stepping into one and then not being able to step past it, resulting in a fall. That ALONE made me feel pity for this little annoying girl. Yeah, and Orange Larry just didn't do it for me. He was bland and unexciting. And his colors were dumb. And the other characters as well are overly basic. Wait... I already said that in the first paragraph...

Anyways, try to work on this a bit harder next time, make these guys evolve well, use more common sense, and don't use character stereotypes like I know how you're gonna make the wimp-girl a killer in card games. GIVE HER A NARROW WIN AT FIRST, AND THEN BUILD HER UP, PLOX!! And that's it.

Sadly, Chapter 2 is going to be held off for a week. Since the Editor left on a trip.

Gah. Sorry guys.

@Weather:

Er, yeah. Little confusing Prologue thing, will be explained.

Most of the character development is going to come a bit later. And Arimi is the airhead I wanted and originally came up with when I made this... so... >_>

And what's wrong with Random names? D:

You'd rather have extremely complicated names?

Fixing up Spelling Errors in a bit.

Thanks Weather. ^^

I'm a good writer. Weather's still better than me though.. Weather' date=' Rinne, and someone else(I think he left) are the best three on this site.. That I know of, anyway.

[/quote']

Darklink is pretty good.

Anyways, time for my comment.

@Zeonark: You may not be the best writer, but at least you can write a decent piece.

Positives:

1. The chapter was long enough to fill my needs, and short enough so I wouldn't be staring in the computer screen too long, wondering when this is going to end.

2. There's some comedy there. I like it.

Negatives:

1. As Kainine said, there's a little too much dialogue.

2. Recently, there's been a flood of Yugioh GX fanfics lately, and they all had pretty much the same beginning. Person goes to Duel Academy, does test, passes, and plot begins. I understand it's a GX fanfic, but yeah, it's kinda getting repetitive.

Well I'm gonna try to get some lessons or something before I write the next chapter. /:

@Twig:

Hey, it's not my fault! D:

I wasn't paying attention to everyone else's fanfics! ;~;
