(Yes, sorry about that, I was a bit pressed for time, and sleepy. I'll do better. Also, what terrain are we on? Like the first Halo?)

 

John followed the Major, scanning the surrounding area visually with both hands on the pistol, ready to fire at a moment's notice. "Sir...permission to speak?" A veteran of several battlegrounds, John wasn't nervous about the mission, though he was slightly unsettled by a gut feeling that was very wrong with this place. Body tense, he took in his surroundings and quickly followed the leader of the mission. He nearly fired a shot at a leaf that fell off a nearby tree. 'Man, I'm way too tense...not good. I can't afford to accidently fire my weapon when it's not needed here, for many reasons. I need to calm down, but there's just something about this place...' With that thought, he subconciously gripped his magnum tighter, though not depressing the trigger.

Jason ran over to where Alex was, to better cover his flank. Activating his HUD waypoints with a flick of his chin, he also noted the other Spartans, and the location of the Warthog. Blinking, he saw Alex's callsign. 'O001.' That must be why he was asking about me. Strange; I've never seen another O-Spartan before. I wonder what this means. "Omega Company, sir? I don't think I've heard of them. Though I know that when I was training, I was the only O-Spartan in my company. All the other Spartans had a P designation." Hearing a snap behind the pair, he pointed his magnum. After a few moments, he relaxed.

The nearest pods to Kisune were that of John's and the Major's. In minutes he was behind them by only a few hundred meters. He activated his comm, "Major, Kisune-0002 here. I am on your 6 and will rendevous with you in a moment," he said. The time it took him to say it he was practically behind them. The moment he caught up to them he stopped and gave a salute. Since he was in fine condition he was neither tired or worn out.

Even though he was relaxed, Jason was worried about the noise he had heard behind him. He clicked on the comm, and quietly spoke into it. "This is Spartan-O919. I may have contact. Requesting backup. Whatever it is, it snapped a big twig. It's big enough that two magnums won't do much against it. Don't know where it is now; it's hiding somewhere. Not sure if it's hostile. Not taking my chances. If any of you are within 500 meters, please respond." I hope that someone can help. I am fairly sure that magnums aren't going to do much; the only thing they're really good for is Grunts. And that thing was way bigger than a Grunt...

Alex stopped in his tracks and turned. "You don't know what Omega company is?" Alex's head was spinning with this random piece of information. He shook his head from side to side as he realised that not all of the younger spartans would be spartan-III's.

"Omega Company was meant to be the last spartan class for the Spartan-III project." He continued his march to the Warthog, even as Jason turned around with his Magnum. I'm the last remaining Omega company spartan, thats what got me confused. Though I'm not sure what the hell ONI were thinking by giving similar Call Signs to another batch of disposable heroes. Probably didn't think that there would be any of us III's left." He paused as he saw the shadow of the Light Reconnasaince Vehicle, "Or they thought that we would never have to be in a mission together." He was about to climb into the vehicle when he heard Jason's comm chatter. Pulling his Magnum and sprinting back to Spartan-O919's position he activated the active Camo and swerved for the trees. As soon as he hit them, he slowed and made his way through the cover.

"Spartan-O919 get to cover. Do you see anything?"

Jason started. Cover, right! He activated his SPI armor, and leapt over to a piece of cover by Alex. Sending a single-beam relay to Alex, he said, "But, if you're supposed to be the last batch of SPARAN-III's, then how come I'm here? I am a SPARTAN-III, and so are all the other Spartans in my company. I don't...this isn't making any..." Trailing off, Jason had a sudden flashback. He was running...bombs were exploding around him. He could hear a voice on the comm saying "Retreat!" He didn't understand. The mission was going as planned. Suddenly, Alex's voice came on. "Everybody retreat now! This place is gonna go!" Blinking back into reality, Jason realized he had fainted. He quickly got up, and looked around. Alex had not seen.

"Kisune, Alright, But we need to get to Alex and Jay" The Major was going to say something else but he was interupted by Jay's comm chater. "We need to put the pedal to the Metal, our Warthog is only about 200 yards from us, Jay and Alex are in trouble. Run!" The Major began to sprint for the Warthog. When he got there he quickly took the drivers position, "In now! I wont lose any men!"

((Good, then I'm going to have a tree for cover...what enemies are we fighting? The same ones from Halo 3?))

 

Jason quickly peeked around the tree he was hiding behind. Goddamnit, where are those SOB's? They've got themselves pretty hidden...man, I wish I had some grenades on me... He jumped back behind cover as a blast of energy shot past the tree. A few moments later, three spikes flew past him. Great, just what I need. He looked over to Alex. He was fine behind his cover...I have to worry about myself right now... Activating the comm, he yelled out, "I could really use some backup right now! Things are getting hot here...I need a weapons drop!"

Kisune followed Major, being right on his heels. He jumped on the back of the warthog and took hold of the machine gun. He cocked the firing piston, ensuring that there was ammo loaded and set. Also by doing this, he made sure to clear any rounds that may have been inside the chamber from earlier use. "All ready to go here sir," Kisune stated after checking the weapon. He looked back to see if John was coming or not.

John hurried up into the Warthog, and climbed in, riding shotgun. "Ready sir!" He makes sure he's not going to fall out just by riding, and brings up his pistol, ready to fire. He listens to Jason's comm chatter, and frowns. "Sir, we need those weapon drops bad. I can move pretty fast on my own if needed. Should I split up, and grab some better weaponry, or go help the others?"

Alex used the magnification of his helmet and switched the image to a thermal. The surrounding wildlife and vegitation were throwing out a lot of heat making it very difficult to see, but at least he had a location for their target.

"I got the target. Moving in." He whispered, checking the power on his camo. Nearly full, that was good. He sent the location to Jason and switched his visor back to normal view. Looking around for a way behind the enemy, he polarized his visor before moving.

Jason received the location, and clicked the magnum's safety off. Checking one last time that his SPI was activated, he began creeping up on the enemy's location. The surrounding vegetation was blocking some sunlight, but a lot still got through. Jason activated the polarization on his helmet, and continued creeping. As he walked, he noticed that there were many shafts of sunlight coming through the trees. Suddenly, a spike grenade flew out from behind a large boulder. With a shout, Jason dove behind a tree. "Alex, grenade! Get behind cover!" Pointing his magnum, he pinpointed the location of their enemy. No doubt now; it's at least one Brute. With a flick of his chin, Jason activated the electrovision on his helmet. He saw a total of five electric signatures. Five Brutes...great. He sent the information to Alex, along with a warning.

"Oh sheet." He said to himself as he got the info on his HUD. The brutes were animals, and just like animals they had excellent vision, smell and hearing. He just hoped that his SPI could keep him hidden from their senses.

"Keep them busy. I've got a plan." He switched off his comm and started a long path to get behind the Brutes. He kept his Magnum pointed at the group of Brutes. When he reached a point exactly opposite Jason, but still behind their enemy. He opened the external speaker and placed it on full volume and high reverb. He smiled before he let out the shrill whistling call of Oly-Oly-Oxen-Free.

Jason heard the call and smiled to himself. Well, it's time for what I do best: a big explosion that'll get their attention. Jason pulled out his three grenades, and began pulling them apart. After some time, he began putting them together, piece by piece. Soon, he had a large misshapen thing. He pulled on a wire he had hooked up to the device, and tossed it at the Brutes. They were confused, and simply stared at the thing. After two seconds, the thing detonated, sending a huge shockwave out. When it hit Jason, he was unprepared, and flew backward, until he hit a tree. There was a loud CRACK, and he slumped to the ground. The Brutes on the other hand, had jumped behind cover at the last second, and had all survived, except for some minor damage to their shields. The quickly spotted the unconscious form of Jason and began making their way menacingly over to him.

The echo of the whistle confused the brutes long enough for Jason to make an explosive capable of some serious power. But unfortunately it had beenn too strong. The shockwave pushed Jason into the open and knocked him unconcious against a tree. Alex pulle dout his combat knife and started a quick run to the back of the nearest Brute. Without its shields the spartan could get in close and had no problem with slicing its large neck. The others heard the form of the back most Brute hit the floor and turned. When they saw the corpse slumped on the floor they let out a blood curling roar, but Alex had already moved. He was actually right behind the leader of this small pack and with a quick pull of his trigger the Brutes head burst open from the bullets force. As the confused and angry Brutes faced the sound of the gunfire all they saw was the pack leader fall, and a strange shimmer move away towards the unconcious Jason.

Alex picked up his comrade and started moving off into the trees. "Come on. Wake up. They can follow us as long as your visible." As he kept moving he remembered the warthog that they were supposed to use and changed his course following the waypoint in his visor.

A loud Brute scream of "DEMONS!" filled the air.

Jason opened his eyes, and saw Alex above him. There was a tight pain in his chest, but he could tell that Alex was in a hurry. Jason pushed himself off of Alex, and rolled to the ground. When he landed, he noticed that he was visible. He reactivated his armor, but the crash against the tree had caused damage, and his backplate was malfunctioning. He stood, winced as the pain in his chest intensified, but turned and followed Alex. As he ran, he noticed that the Brutes' shields had been destroyed. "Hold on," he said. He spun around, and satisfied that the Brutes were still far off, pulled out his magnum. He aimed, held his breath, and pulled the trigger. Five shots rang out. Three Brutes were hit, and two went down. By then, they were close enough to open up with their Spikers, and they did. Jason turned and put on a burst of speed to catch up with Alex. As he ran, there was an impact on his back, and a searing pain spread through him. He had been hit by a spike. He ignored it and continued running.

The Major stepped on the gas hoping to get to the seen in time. By the time the Major had come close to the seen a loud blast was heard. The Major's Warthog jumped into the clearing. The warthog got hit by several spiker rounds hit the side of the Warthog. Major Took his Magnum and began shooting wildly at the Brutes. He killed one and injured the other two. It was time for Kisune to open fire on the furry beasts.

The moment they had made the jump, Kisune saw the Brutes and opened fire on them. He had pretty good accuracy for the terrain of the area and the speed of the Warthog combined. The Brutes took tremendous damage and soon the last to stand, no longer stood. In seeing the last Brute fall, Kisune immediately stopped firing incase Jason and Alex began making their way towards them. "Sir, the enemy has been defeated. Ready to move to the next location," he stated.

John looked on, somewhat disappointed at being unable to contribute much, then noticed movement in the shadows of several trees, slow and cautious. "Sir, I tihnk we have more company..." He raised the magnum and tried to see the newcomer through distance and darkness, staying in place on the Warthog.

Alex looked back at Jason behind him. Despite the explosion that knocked him unconcious Jason was keeping up the pace, though he was running a little strange. As he turned his head back to the warthog, the roaring engine of another LRV sounded as the turreted vehicle flew down back towards the Brutes. He switched his Comm back on to open channel and was about to greet the other Spartans when John's voice came over the radio. He heard what hte Spartan said and shouted back to Jason.

"Come on! If we get in the Warthog, we can get back in the fight!" He jumped into the drivers seat and started the engine.

"Yes sir" Eager to fainlly be able to fight back with more than a pistol, John runs over to about where the LRV will be, and prepares to open fire on the Brutes. 'Not good. Can't let the Brutes get close to Jason, need to stop them now!'

A weapon pod hit the ground, and another, and yet another. There were ten pods, The Major bailed out of the Warthog and made a run for the pods. He busted open a pod. 'An Assult Rifle, Not what I wanted, but it will work' The Major thought. The Major took cover begind a large rock, "Alex, Jason You guys okay?" the Major asked over the comm, hoping that they were still alive. There was only one Brute, but there was three squads of Jackals, "Kisune, John take 'em out if you are able"

Jason looked around at all the chaos. Well, things sure went up quickly. I gotta get to those weapon pods, get something other than this magnum. Still ignoring the pain in his chest, and the spike in his back, he turned and made his way over to one of the weapon pods. He wrenched open the casing, and laughed out loud at what he saw: a fully loaded M41 SSM Rocket Launcher. He pulled it out of the case, and his HUD updated, showing him his ammunition. Great...I've only got two rockets. Oh, I'll have to make them last.
