October, 2118. The world has changed. Those cards, those blasted cards, have turned against us...the humans...now we live in filth and squall, while the spirits of those cards rule the world... There is zero chance of taking back whats ours...

This is...Yu-Gi-Oh! Zero Chance!

Welcome to my first fanfic. Its a story about a future controlled by the Darke Yugioh cards and several people's attempt to stop that future from coming true. Hopefully, you will enjoy my fanfic. EDIT: Starting now, I am going to rework this whole story so hopefully more people will be attracted to it. I'm going to give it my all, and I hope you'll enjoy my fanfic.

[spoiler=Plot]

Pretty much the same thing said above. In a future controlled by Darke Yugioh Cards, The last few remaining Lighte Cards go back in time to plead several conflicted duelists for help in stopping the Darke Cards from rising in the first place...but their chance of doing so is very slim..some would even say they have zero chance... (Get it?)

However, one troubling part of his past, the death of Trey's parents, will suddenly see new attention as people are drawn to the fact that Mr. and Mrs. Allstrong's deaths might not have been accidental...

Angels deliver Fate to our doorstep - and anywhere else it is needed. --Jessi Lane Adams

***

I couldn't move. I was transfixed, mesmerized by the card. It hung in midair, silent, slowly rotating. Unable to stand it any longer, I slowly reached out a hand...just wanting to touch it... and then, my outstreched finger hit the card. In a single instant, everything flashed and went dark. Light was snuffed out instantly and suddenly, my hand felt almost magnetically attached to the card as it soared through the darkness.

This is our world, Damon.

"What the?" I stuttered as the voice echoed around in and around my head. "Who...who are you?"

I am a peacekeeper, a guide, a herald. I am a Lighte Card. And I have come to ask for your help.

Suddenly the card tugged at my hand and I found myself soaring through a wartorn land.

This is our land Damon. This is your city. Now, all that remains is ashes...

"What? My city? Whats going on here? Why is my city destroyed?" I asked, frightened, my voice rising in pitch.

Damon, this is the future...the future we need you to prevent. In my time, in the year 2118, all hope has been lost for the humans. The Darke Cards rule everything.

For a second, before the card returned me to the darkness, I caught the flash of something red. I saw a terrifying glimpse of a huge monster, striding through the debris of the city.

Damon, we need your help! We must keep this from happening...it is the only hope of survival for the human race...

"But what can I do?" I asked frantically. This was really getting creepy...

Even now, in your time period, forces are working to make this future come true. You must stop the Darke cards now, in your time period...to stop the Cards from even happening in the first place...Please, Damon you must help us...stop the Darke Cards...please...

Very slowly the voice faded away and as it did, so did the darkness. Light slowly worked through my closed eyelids, and somwhere, a air conditioner was turned on. I was lying face-down on something comfortable. I sat up, catching a glimpse of a bland room. I looked down and found...I had been lying on the couch? Wait a second. I looked around again and saw I was in my living room. So had all this just been a dream?-

Please help us Damon...

My god. It had not been a dream.

END OF PROLOGUE

As those of you who have read my prologue before I reworked it know, you'll see I didn't change much. However, I did add the quote to give the introduction more emphasis on how fate has come down upon Damon.

Chapter 1 is up.

[spoiler=Are Dreams About Yu-Gi-Oh Cards Normal?]

I learned there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead, others come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready, you see. Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me. -- Dr. Seuss

Indeed.

***

I could already feel the light working through the oh so cheap blinds and hitting me straight in the face. I was not ready for it. I groaned and turned over on the small bed, nearly sending myself sailing over the edge. The bumpy mattress couldn’t settle me or my terrible anxiety down, so I was forced to sit up and open my eyes. A bland and slightly stained décor greeted me as I examined the three things in the small bedroom with me- A shoddy plywood dresser, a small mirror, and the bed I was currently on. All very much making the room look like it was exactly the small slightly run-down Domino City outskirts apartment it actually was. A blank canvas, my realtor had called it. Yeah, sure, a blank canvas. One covered with dirt on the back.

But enough on my apartment. I had bigger things to worry about…

Like the Darke Cards?

“I’m thinking more along the lines of a voice that has recently taken up residence in my head.”

Damon, the Darke Cards are no something to joke about!

I sighed, and walked out of the bedroom into my kitchen/living room. The familiar sight of my black and white tile countertop comforted me, almost making it seem like everyone was normal and I hadn’t gone crazy…

Damon, for the last time…you’re not going crazy. I’m a envoy from the future, a herald of the dark destiny of the world…

“Spare me the dramatics.” I grumbled, searching inside my refrigerator for milk. “What proof is there that you’re this ‘envoy’ or whatever you’re calling yourself?”

…Your dreams, Damon…I know they are showing you what the agents of the Darke cards are doing…Your dreams are not dreams, Damon…

I could feel my mood plummet. This, this was my main reason for wanting all of this to just be some strange insane spell…

My dreams.

More specifically the dream I had just had. I could remember it clearly…

...

Cold…unbearable cold. It was all around, almost as substantial as the concrete walls around me. The room was dark, wet, and had a strange earthy scent, almost like this room was underground, even though you could see a crescent moon through a large window dominating the wall behind me. The room was adorned with fine art and the large wooden table in the middle of the room was obviously well-made, but all of the finery had clearly not been cleaned in a long while. Cobwebs and dust cascaded all across the room, much of the furniture and artwork faded.

But amidst all these cobwebs, there sat a man. He was seated at the head of the wooden table, silent and unmoving. He was dressed in red-black armor with a black cloak over that. He had his hood up, wreathing his face in shadow, but it almost seemed like his face…had no skin. He sat completely still and silent, as though he was waiting for something…

And suddenly the purple mist was there. It was like a smoke machine- The mist suddenly expanded out of the center of the table, extending about halfway down either side of the table. Suddenly, like a lightbulb burning out, a burst of light flashed inside the mist, blowing the mist into oblivion.

A Yu-Gi-Oh card was lying there.

The man jerked up, stiffened. He leaned forward and with relief I could see he did have skin, he was just extremely gaunt and pale. He reached forward and picked up the card. He looked at it with an expression of pure joy.

Unexpectedly, speaking in a whispery voice, the man said, “The first of the Darke has arrived. Brothers and sisters- Join me.”

The room was suddenly filled with men and women, wearing the outfit of the man, but pure-black. They stepped forward in a rigid unity, falling into place at the table.

“Our mission has been given to us. It is time. We must strike swiftly…Go now. Take him down.”

The man laid down the card on the table. In my mind’s eye, I couldn’t see the artwork, but the card seemed to be mesmerizing me…I couldn’t look away…

WA-CHICK!

The sudden noise of the toaster sent me flying out of my little reverie. I was suddenly pulled back to the present. “What just happened?” I mumbled as I numbly pulled the bagel out of the toaster. I had been lost in my memory…It was that card…

The times are changing, Damon. As your dream shows, the servants of the Darke cards are readying their forces even now, preparing for the great battle ahead…

“Stop!” I shouted, childishly covering my ears. “I don’t want to hear about some sort of battle, I just want…to…be…left…ALONE!” Why, why had this voice come to me? What had I ever done to receive some crazy-person voice who was telling me I had to do something stupid?

Fine. Be that way. I will show you why the Darke Cards must be stopped…Prepare yourself, Damon!

The last thing I remember before falling was that strange, green light.

END OF CHAPTER 1

Notes

Whew. It might not look like it, but this took a long time to write. I spent a lot of that time though trying to figure out what a real person would have done if they have just been given some world-changing assignment. I finally decided to, based on Damon's personality, that a person look him would probably not want this oh so important destiny, and probably be a little frightened by it too. And for those of you who are disappointed by the lack of dueling so far- don't worry. My next chapter will definitely have some duel action going on. [spoiler=Cards Used In Chapter 1] None.

Chapter 2 is up

[spoiler=Guys in Black Cloaks and Girls in Blue Skirts]

A friend is someone who, upon seeing another friend in immense pain, would rather be the one experiencing the pain than to have to watch their friend suffer. –Author Unknown

***

Pavement. That was my first thought. And, the first thing I could see, too. I couldn’t do much more than look at the pavement though, because my limbs were strangely leaden. I was unable to move then. Slowly though, I came to my senses. I was lying face-down on pavement, of course. As feeling returned to my arms and legs, I pressed down and gradually got to my feet. Where was I? I looked around, bemused, and found I was on a city street. It was Domino City, with its futuristic building rising out on either side of the morning-lit street, sneering down on the first stragglers rising to go to work in this early morning. “What the hell am I doing here?” I said, and of course, I got an answer right back-

You are here to witness the evil of the Darke Ones, the servants of the Darke cards, Damon. Look to your right…

I turned, and saw between two skyscrapers, a dark alleyway. Now, as all of you guys how have watched enough horror movies, dark alleyways give off that DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON! feeling. (Never seen Lost in Space? Too bad.) Despite my initial instinct to just turn away from the alley, I looked in.

About halfway down the dusky alley, I saw them. Three men in midnight black cloaks, huddled around something. They seemed to almost radiate danger, and I stepped closer, my heart pounding. Suddenly one shifted, and I could see what they were standing around.

A girl.

Okay, so maybe she wasn’t a girl. She was approximately my age, with lustrous brown hair and strange golden eyes, wearing what looked like a blue school uniform. She looked scared, yet defiant of the men around her. I suddenly realized what was going on. These men were going to hurt this girl…and suddenly I felt something awaken within me. A great roaring beast suddenly exploded in my stomach, and I could hear only my heart pounding in my ears. I walked forward with a determination I could not place. When I got close to them, I could hear snippets of their conversation, but I did not listen to it.

“So you think you can just come up and challenge us, huh girlie…”

“Wrong move girl…we’ll have to punish you…”

“You don’t know what you’re getting into-OUCH!”

The third cloaked guy who had just begun to talk found himself on the floor, dazed by the wicked uppercut I had given him.

The two other cloaked men turned to me, and I stepped in front of the girl protectively, staring angrily at them. “You will not touch this girl.” I said, dangerously soft.

One of the men looked scared, but the other one, the tallest one, just sneered. “Oh you think so, do you? I don’t think you’ll be able to protect anyone…once I, Barbatos, defeat you in a Duel!” He raised his arm and a black Duel Disk was sitting on it.

A Duel? Why would he want a Duel? I was confused, but my anger prodded me on, and I raised my own arm, which had a Duel Disk on it, too. Like most New Domino citizens, I had been raised from birth to duel. “Be prepared,” I said through my teeth. “I won’t go easy!” Suddenly, a card field extended between me and the man, Barbatos.

“DUEL!” Barbatos and I said together.

Me: 4000 LP

Barbatos: 4000 LP

“All right, then!” I said. “I’ll go first! I play one monster card face-down and place two cards face-down on the field. End turn."

Three cards appeared face-down on my field, one a Monster, two Spells/Traps.

“Pathetic.” Barbatos grinned maliciously. “I activate Cheerful Coffin and place Dark Grepher, Plaguespreader Zombie, and Malevolent Mech- Goku En in my Graveyard. Now, since I have three dark monsters in my graveyard, I can summon…Dark Armed Dragon!”

“Uh oh…” I muttered as a dark black dragon pulled itself out of the ground. It had… 2800 Attack points!

“But I’m not done yet! I activate Dark Armed Dragon’s effect, destroying your card!” Dark Armed Dragon blew a gust of black fire at my face-down, destroying it instantly. “Now, go Dark Armed Dragon! Attack that insolent boy directly!” The man cackled, and then looked at my face.

“Why are you smiling?” Barbatos asked.

“Because you’re an idiot.” My grin spread wider. “I activate Reflector! This card allows me to take the damage I am about to take and instead have you take it by discarding one monster card and one spell/trap card.”

“Aaugh!” Barbatos cried as a mirror appeared on my side of the field and Dark Armed Dragon’s attack rebounded on himself.

Barbatos: 4000 LP-2800 =1200 LP

“That the best you got, boy?” Barbatos said heavily. I’m not done yet…I place one card face-down and end my turn.”

I smirked. This was about to be over soon. “My turn,” I said. “I summon Attuning Seraphim to the field.”

A humanoid angel appeared on my side of the field, wearing colorless, almost-mirrorlike armor. It had 1500 attack and 1000 defense.

“Now, watch as Attuning Seraphim’s ability kicks in!” I crowed. "It allows me to choose one card on the field and 'adapt' to it, becoming its type and attribute! I choose Dark Armed Dragon!"

The angel changed before our eyes, growings fangs, horns, and a tail. Its armor also changed, becoming darkly colored.

"Now get ready!" I said. "For your doom!"

TO BE CONTINUED...

Notes

Yes! First duel! I finally was able to squeeze in a duel into my story. Now, if there are any of you who are thinking, what the? why did he suddenly cut off the chapter before telling us the rest of that monsters effect? its because of this chapter was becoming so long, most of you guys would glaze over about halfway through and not read the whole thing. So, I decided to split this up into two parts. Don't worry: Chapter 3 will be up soon.

I know, I was trying to portray that Damon, as a good guy, felt anger at these guys for bullying this girl. Thats why hes kinda all gung ho. But, you're probably right...and something's going to happen in the next part of the duel that will definitely make Damon scared...o_O

END OF PROLOGUE

This is good. I'm expecting a lot from this fic, because it seems like you're a decent writer. Your first chapters are a bit short, but I haven't seen any fanfics where that wasn't the case. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

lol. Thanks, Larry- that Weather Report was awesome. :)

Thanks to you too Chaos. You know, its weird, but when I first typed these up (on Word) they seemed too long, so I shortened them. Oh well, I can just change that. No worries, future chapters will be longer.
