Alright, so I just got done beating the 1st gym, did the short Muuna thing, and Tepig is already level 17 and all evolved like.

I'm on fire =D

....And apparently I'm going to rely on my starter for a bit, and then just use the EXP Share to let everyone else mooch off of him.

(as I'm assuming a lot of people play this game that way, as it seems to be the most effective method to EXP-farming)

Yea, Leaf Storm makes Mr. Snake fun.

My team:

I haven't been playing much.... I just beat the first leader...

Hey, I think my game could possibly be glitched, but I'm not sure...

When Cress gave me the TM after I beat him, I used it, and when I checked my bag, it was still there. I used it again, and it was STILL there. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, in B&W you can use TMs as many times as you want.

So, I might get Pokemon Black and / or White over the weekend. I just have a simple question, and maybe more to come when I start the game; which pokemon is the HM Slave for this Generation? Just want to know. Also, what are the good Ghost Pokemon in this Generation as well? I've been thinking of trading a Level 1 Gastly or something into the Game, just because Gastly is my favorite (Ghost) Pokemon, I just want to know if it's worth it, or if it would be outclassed by any of the new Ghost Pokemon in Black / White when it comes to usability and whatnot.

Also, me and my brother are both hopefully going to get it over the weekend, and have a little race to see who can complete the game first (we're not going to rush or anything though), and then at the end, when we both beat the game, elite four + champion, etc., we're going to have a battle, me vs him. He is obviously going to pick the Fire Starter, so should I go for the obvious Water choice? Also, I've been thinking of not using the Starter I pick at all (unless it's essential to the plot and whatnot), and trading in my Gastly, and using that as a starter for a change. Opinions? <- Nevermind, been told you can't trade with previous games.

Really? That makes the game soooo much....I guess you can say, easier?

Whaaaat!?!?!?! D:

Hm, I'm guessing I'll have to say goodbye to my Gastly and try out....Tasmask I guess. Unless there's any objections. Any help / opinions on my other questions and whatnot? It'd be very appreciated. I am going to miss having Gastly though. Random time: I like, and at the same time, dislike, how, is it called the Unova Region? has a completely new Pokedex, with no pokemon from the previous games at all....unless I'm missing something.

In order that you ask.

1) None. You don't really need HMs this gen. They help but for the most part they only give shortcuts or unlock items.

2) Of the 4 listed above Fire/Ghost is the best. They are all good though so take your pick on whatever type your team might end up needing.

3) Gengar is still among the best ghosts. Chandelure is "better", just a little on the slow side and the weakness that come with fire doesn't help it.

4) Again, as said you can't trade for older pokemon until you beat them game. You COULD get one from someone else that has it in there B/W, but that would be your call.

5) Starter choice doesn't mean much at the end of the game since you should have pokemon that would beat them.

@New Post: The old pokemon are in the region, just in areas you don't unlock until after you beat the game.

Really now. That makes it much more easier for me then. In previous gen.'s, I'd do the obvious and either get an HM Slave (which would normally be a waste of a spot in certain situations), or spread out the HM's throughout my actual team, sacrificing a spot as the downside. If the HM's are actually unneeded for the game / story, I'm glad. This also makes me think this generation is going to be a good one.

2) Of the 4 listed above Fire/Ghost is the best. They are all good though so take your pick on whatever type your team might end up needing.

I'll most likely go for Yasmask, since I'm loving pure Ghost Pokemon and whatnot, but thank you for your opinion. I'll probably go for Golett as a backup though if I don't go for Yasmask, that is, if the 'not affected by Ground-Type moves' still works with Golett.

3) Gengar is still among the best ghosts. Chandelure is "better", just a little on the slow side and the weakness that come with fire doesn't help it.

I see. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and go for the Ghost Pokemon in this gen. Besides, like you said, they're all pretty good.

5) Starter choice doesn't mean much at the end of the game since you should have pokemon that would beat them.

True. I'll probably go for Oshawatt anyways though, just because I can use it as an HM Slave if I'm not actually going to use it for competitive gameplay and whatnot.

Sadly, I don't think I can wait that long in the meantime xD

Thank you for answering all my questions though, it's really going to help me when I get the game, and that is, if I get the game (most likely will though, unless they're out of stock or something, then I shall sadface.)

I have three Pokemon in my team and they're all weak to flying. >:[ The other three Pokemon I plan to have on my team aren't available until later, so I have three options.

1. Try to beat the 6th Gym anyway, using cheap tactics, luck, and a whole lot of revives.

2. Trade.

3. Use another Pokemon like Gigalith and ditch it later.

If I finish the game before you get it, I'll trade you a Gastly. (And the game does let you.)

Dream World, I guess.

Its broken with Leaf Storm.

EDIT: Yusei&Akiza has White.

Black City is only in Black

oh yeah sorry i have it reversed xD and yes it's dream world ability and i love it lol but the chance of getting it is 0.001% or most likely to get special code( which is common to do =_=). but it make Surperior even broken by having its nature for speed such as timid.

I'm somewhat of a noob in Pokemon (mainly in this Gen., and kinda all around), but are any of your three pokemon pretty fast? If so, maybe see if one of them can learn an Electric-Type move like Thunderbolt or something, and hope that it'll beat the Gym Leader's Pokemon (assuming the 6th Gym is flying, seeing I don't know much of the gen. / have the game yet), and do enough damage to take them out? Just a thought. Be warned, it may be noobish and bad advice compared to what the more experienced people in the thread have to say.

Umm... None of the Ghost this gen have leviate

Frillish has Cursed body which has the chance to disable an oppenet's attack if hit with a physical attack

Litwik has flash fire and i think flame body

Golett has Iron fist or klutz

Yamask has mummy

anyways for an overview of the 4 ghosts(in their final forms that is)

Frillish: Special wall with 100 HP and 105 base Sp. Def but only 70 base Def and 85 base Sp. Atk

Litwik: A strong Sp. Attacker with 90 base on both Def and Sp. Def

Golett: weakest of the 4 ghosts. Has high attack but medicore Def stats and slow (but can be good if you know how to work him)

Yamask: final form is a walking tank with 90 base Sp. Atk but is slow but makes up with 145 base DEF and 105 Base Sp. Def

No, that is sound advice indeed, but unfortunately, two of my Pokemon are quite slow, and the third as a very shallow movepool. Otherwise, that would work.

That'd be nice of you, but I'll probably just trade myself to get one if I plan on getting one after finishing.

And whaaaat!?!?! I'm confused now.

No no, I mean I can trade you one in the beginning of the game to use on your main team. You can yourself, but you'd need a second copy of Black or White. To transfer one from a 4th Gen game you need to finish the Story Mode, but you can trade anything from another B/W as soon as you beat the 1st Gym.

Interesting.

Litwik has flash fire and i think flame body

Golett has Iron fist or klutz

Yamask has mummy

Will have to search the rest of these up and see what's the most beneficial.

Out of all of these, I'm most intrigued by them in this order, the first being the most intriguing and the last being well, the obvious.

1 Yamask

2 Frillish

3 Litwik

4 Golett

So it seems my backup may be a Frillish, with I am also alright with, even though I'm not a real fan of it's Water and Ghost combination.

Thanks for ze input.

Phew. I don't want to make any bad impressions when it comes to giving advice for pokemon and whatnot. But if it won't work, I'm pretty sure Flying are weak to Ice as well. So maybe that can work as well with like, Ice Beam or something. But if that also doesn't work, you can / should go for some other pokemon and ditch it later, or perhaps even keep it if it ends up being a pretty good addition all around for your team.

His final Form (which is achieved by getting joltik to lv 36) can do some damage as its Fast with 108 base speed and 97 base Sp. Atk

anyways update:

Beat 2nd Gym with a lv 17 Throh that is not lv 20 after gym (trainers + leader)

so i am sitting on

lv 20 Servine and Throh as my 2 keepers

Am I the only one who thinks Drilbur is amazing?

And it's probably the only Pokemon I wasn't able to catch. =3

I'm debating on if I need a Blitzle.

It's okay, but fairly weak once you get farther in the game. It has solid offense, but is quite fragile. If you're up for a challenge, use it.

Either way, try it out, see for yourself. :)

I really prefer Litwick, since it's easy to obtain, and when fully evolved into Chandelure, it can sweep the game for you with its massive 145 Sp.ATK

I also have always been a fan of Sweepers and Ghosts with high Special Attack, hence why Gengar is my favorite. I'll still most likely though go for a Yamask, only then if I can't go for it, I'll probably like, flip a coin to see if I should go for Frillish or Litwick xD I could always have two Ghosts in my Team, but I always find having more then 1 of the same Type (whether it's Dual-Typed or not), not the smartest idea.

Just checked out the move list each Ghost Pokemon can learn. Might actually scratch out Yasmask (it's Move Pool is pretty bad in my opinion). Chandelure and Jellicent are the only ones with a pretty good / decent Move Pool (once again, in my opinion). Then again, stat wise, Jellicent seems all around decent, while Yasmask and Chandelure both excel in a certain stat, whilte Golurk only slightly does....the choices / options are killing me D: I'll probably have to randomize a number or something to see which is best to go for.
