Time Psyduck
Black and White almost certainly won't have a Pal Park. The games may be being released for the DS, but nintendo will probably expect people to be playing it on the DSi or 3DS, one of which doesn't have a GBA slot and the other probably won't either. They're not going to add an area that's only useful when you're using an older model of the console and even older games, not when Black and White are compatible with five other games with Pal Parks already. Ash and Brock will stay, and the female protagonist from these games will take over from dawn (and probably take part in contests). The new male character won't be seen apart from in cameos. Why would Misty need replacing though? As far as I can tell she doesn't appear much anyway, and when she does it's in stuff that's to do with her, so replacing her would defeat the point. Ash and co. meeting the new Sabrina (much as I prefer the old one) would make a fun episode though, depending on how they went with the personality. Brushfire
Black and White almost certainly won't have a Pal Park. Your logical overall, fails. They had released both the DSi and DSi XL when they brought out HGSS, yet they still had a Pal Park in it. Why? Because Nintendo are not stupid enough to realise how many people still want to connect their GBA games and collect their Pokémon. I'm not overly sure on the release date for BW in Japan, but I'm guessing October 2010, in which the 3DS may not even be out (you may have to correct me on this, I'm not entirely sure when it comes out, but I think it said 2011) so they won't be expecting everyone to be on the DSi (which is not an official 'new' console unlike the 3DS) and the 3DS, and will not forget about the third generation. They'd be fools to expect everyone to trade Kanto/Hoenn Pokémon as well as Johto/Sinnoh from DPPt or HGSS, as BW will have their own Pokémon. They'd be fools to expect everyone to trade Kanto/Hoenn Pokémon as well as Johto/Sinnoh from DPPt or HGSS, as BW will have their own Pokémon.[/quote'] The difference is that HGSS are still part of the same generation as DPP, so it's not unreasonable to have the same features. Besides, those games are aimed more towards the older market than the new games are, since people are more likely to buy them for nostalgia. Black and White are a new generation, and when they're released it will have been six years since Emerald, which is probably too long ago for many people in the target age group to have it, so the pal park is only really useful for those of us who have been playing for longer. As for the console, although the DSi wasn't a brand new console it's still the one Nintendo have been wanting people to buy, so it's the one they expect that many 'new' players use. It may be nice for Nintendo to recognise that there are people who have been playing since R/B, but honestly I suspect they'll leave the pal park out because having an area you can't use is likely to frustrate kids who've never even heard of a Game Boy. That may have applied to the Generation IV games, but it wouldn't be so significant because (a) In D/P the GBA games would still be relatively common, so most people would be able to get one, or at least know about them, (b) Platinum was never going to not have something D/P had, © both of those were released when the DS lite was the main console (platinum came about the same time as the DSi, but Nintendo would realise that no-one would have the new console, and I suspect the Japanese Platinum beat the console, (d) It wouldn't matter for HGSS as much anyway, since it's in an area that wasn't accessible in the originals. By Black and White, however, Nintendo have all but abandoned the Game Boy, and a direct link to games that are long out of production is really unnecessary. The trading argument doesn't really matter. The last games only to have pokémon in the region dex found in the wild were Ruby and Sapphire. It's not that difficult to assume that there'll be quite a few Hoenn and Kanto pokémon, besides which the Kanto pokédex is actually a subset of the Johto one, so I don't see why they wouldn't anticipate trades. Further, they put all the old legendaries and starters in Platinum and HGSS, so there isn't actually anything you need Generation III to get any more. A second safari zone with large numbers of Hoenn Pokémon would probably prove more useful that a pal park, and if Nintendo are planning the R/S remakes, then they won't want the Hoenn pokémon particularly accessible. GraveHorizon
They should make Pokemon harder to encounter, and increase the amount of Pokemon that can only be caught at certain times. In Diamond, the only Pokemon that can only be caught in the morning: Ledian. That was it. These two thoughts are somewhat related, as the encounter rate can change based on the time of day, but those differences (like the gender differences) are arbitrary and almost indiscernible. 10% Morning, 10% Day, and 20% Night? Might as well be 100% across the board as far as I can tell. Mix it up a little. Make it so several Pokemon can only be caught during a certain time of day, giving players more incentive to play at that time. If you can catch most Pokemon between 4 and 8pm, why (purposefully) play any other time? I remember playing Silver in my bed, trying to catch a Misdreavus at midnight (thought that was when you could catch it). It was awesome. And trying to find a Tauros when all I can see is Miltank? Great, it gives me a reason to hunt that sucker down. Also, maybe add more differences between sprites for opposing versions. Like they did with Gold and Silver, not just with the third version. Time Psyduck
Misty was popular until Advance. What I wanna know is why the anime didn't change her hairstyle to that of Heart/Gold and Soul/Silver. And that new female protagonist would be cool. I wonder if there'll be any official art of her? There will be official art of the new female protagonist. As far as I understand, there's official art for every character, so why wouldn't there be one for a protagonist? As for Misty's hair, I suppose that for the originals they didn't change Brock and Misty because they were the same characters carrying on into the Johto arc, and a new look wouldn't make much sense, especially for Misty who was there the whole time. In advanced they're probably going to try and tie her to her FRLG appearance, and Misty hasn't been seen since HG and SS were released, so there's still a chance she'll get the new look next time we see her. The real reason however is probably that how she looked originally is how people who watch the anime remember her, so that's loosly how she'll look for the rest of time (or the anime). I still don't see why she needs to be replaced in her role of 'major character put on a bus that gets a side story on occasion' though, regardless of her popularity. If she's suddenly not liked by anyone (which seems unlikely) then just don't make the story - there's no need to have someone else instead. Felix
There's going to be some kind of alternative, it's un avoidable. Something like the mini Battle Frontier buildings in Emerald would be cool, but instead of there only being terrible Pokemon all the way through. Have better and higher leveled Pokemon depending on how high leveled your Pokemon are.
