TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
Makes it immune to ground moves (cough Earthquake) until it gets hit by something else. Very useful online. Its a Ground/Steel, ground is strong against it.
Silver The Hedgehog
If some one can give me their opinion, or advice I would really appreciate it. So I got Pokemon White, Beat N and the last boss, And I'm really bored in it, so I was thinking of starting a new game, new starter, new team. This time, I will most likely not use Victini, and I'm getting Pokemon Black on my birthday in three days. So I can't decide if I want to restart or not, I'm leaning more towards restarting, because I only have 2 Legendaries (Victini and Zekrom), and I really don't care about my legendaries, I just want a Reshiram more than a Zekrom. My current team is: Serperior lv.55, Unfezant lv.50, Carracosta lv.52, Mienshao lv.54, Zweilous lv.54, and Victini lv. 53. So any advice if I should restart or not? .Nu-13
Forgot that it's part Steel. Makes sense now. Ok, final question about Excadrill - do I really have to make it Adamant, or can it be anything that +Attack?
TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
You want it to be Adamant, any other -'s would be too much of a disadvantage for it. Or use whatever that nature that +'s Speed and -'s Special Attack. Jolly, that's it.Also, pay attention to the IV's too, my pokemon all have pathetic IV's. .Nu-13
So Adamant or Jolly. Right I never knew how to check those :/ But do they really matter that much?
TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
IV's can be checked with:http://www.serebii.net/games/iv-calcdp.shtmlUsually you can tell after like level 30 or so if its IVs are good. There is also another "trick" to it, Characteristicshttp://www.serebii.net/games/characteristics.shtmlCharacteristics will only give you the hint towards its "best" stat, I think. .Nu-13
Ok, but how much do IVs affect the Poke, and what do they affect?
Flame Dragon
Thinking of using a Houndoom in my team, Smogon doesn't go upto V yet (I was looking for some ideas), anyone get any ideas on nature, and moves. I know Houndoom is a Spl Atk, and I'm not thinking about EV training (too lazy for that), or working on getting Hidden Power set to a certain type.flamethrower, dark pulse, nasty plot, filler. Nature should increase speed or sp. atk, and evs should max them out. Its called Air Balloon, I think you get it from the Battle Subway, not sure how to though. You win points and use those me thinks. So Adamant or Jolly. Right I never knew how to check those :/ But do they really matter that much? While tose are the best if you don't want to wait you could allow the use of the defense dropping ones. I'd say a -Sp.DEF would be next in line if you don't want to wit for -Sp.ATK. And yea, IVs play a huge role in pokemon since every 1 IV = +1 in a stat. This means a pokemon with 0 IVs in lets say speed will be 31 points slower then the same pokemon with max IV. Speed is really important because it can make or break you if a couple of extra pokemon end up out running you.
.Nu-13
1 IV = +1 stat? Wow, they're really important. Ok, so can someone explain me how to use that Serebii calculator? I get most of the fields, but for example, how do I know what type of Hidden Power my Pokemon has? Or its EVs?
Cin
Dark Pulse isn't avaliable in Gen 5, (according to Veekun and Serebii), Nice move set I'm not the kind though to use moves to that effect stats or cause aliaments (bar Toxic rarely). I was thinking of Crunch, until Snarl tm is released. Thanks for the advice towards nature. Worked out a team of Pokemon I just felt like using ruled out Scizor because of how long it takes to get the Metal Coat. So its:VolcaronaNidokingHoundoomHaxorusStoutland (coz it reminds me of my Yorkie) 6th probably Gyarados, was gonna do all fire, but decided although I love the type, don't like all the Pokemon in it. Flame Dragon
1 IV = +1 stat? Wow, they're really important. Ok, so can someone explain me how to use that Serebii calculator? I get most of the fields, but for example, how do I know what type of Hidden Power my Pokemon has? Or its EVs?The type hidden power has is based on your IVs. You get EVs by battling pokemon. Whenever you make a pokemon faint you get EVs added to your pokemon that is the same stat as the highest base stat of the pokemon you made faint. for example Charizard's highest base stat is Sp.ATK so he gives Sp.ATK EVs while Jolteon, whose highest stat is speed, give speed EVs. The number you get goes from 1-3 based on tes stage of the pokemon you made faint. So Char gives +3 while Jolt gives +2. For every 4 EVs you add to a stat that stat number goes up by one. Each stat can hold a max of 252 EVs (you'll always have 3 unused if you go full max) and the pokemon can get 510 EVs added to it. This means EVs give pokemon and extra 127 points over all to it's stats while any one stat by 63 points. Dark Pulse isn't avaliable in Gen 5, (according to Veekun and Serebii), Nice move set I'm not the kind though to use moves to that effect stats or cause aliaments (bar Toxic rarely). I was thinking of Crunch, until Snarl tm is released. Thanks for the advice towards nature.I would say that it can be breed, but in checking it can't be. >_> what were they thinking. The set over all can still be done in 4th gen so if you want you could still get him there and then just bring him over to 5th. As for Physical set um...... Crunch, Flame Charge/Fire Fang, Thunder Fang, Sucker Punch? His move pool over all is dry and from what he does have his best stuff is in special. Cin
Yea, means I can stop doing stupid things on a Gyarados (it became a Spl Atk on Gen 3 for no reason lol). Something me to think about really. What about the team I added on the end VolcaronaNidokingHaxorusStoutland (coz it reminds me of my Yorkie)Gyarados Just looking for attack move suggestions, I'm not much of a defender tbh. Really, for him you can just throw them all in a hat and pick them since his move pool is just that good.Ax head gets Outrage, Dragon Claw, EQ, and DDdon't know what puppy can do. Personally I don't think he is that great. I'd say do the same thing and just go for as much coverage as you can with his move setGyara has a nice list of move. EQ, Ice Fang, Waterfall, and DD is the set I've used for a long time. stone Edge is also very commonon him. I know you said you wanted attacking moves, but half the pokemon you listed are amazing set up sweepers and it's really hard to look past those moves. Mothra is built around his tbqh. @FD - actually, I know what EVs are. I just don't know how to check them. Is this possible?Pen and paper. Yea, it sucks. Only time you learn about EVs in game is when some lady goes "o your pokemon has put in a lot of effort, heres a gift". .Rai
So annoyed. You know the EV-reducing berries (Qualot, Tamato etc.)? Well, they're in-accessible in B/W. They're not confirmed to be in Dream World either. So those who plan to EV train something that they've used to beat the Elite Four and the whole game, those useless EVs are staying there. What's everyone's opinions on Lilligant/Doreida. I personally love it. So cute and fairly good in the competitive metagame too, one of the only pokemon to learn Aromatherapy and Quiver Dance in the whole game.
